Ok, I just thought I would add that we just had a crazy leak from one of these nappies. It was all out the leg and up the front. We have never had a nappy leak like that before (apart from when we decided to move up a size due to them coming out the back. But she is def still size 3 so it's not due to size but fit I think).

Even though we still have loads left I think I am actually going to stop using them as we are just getting too many of her lovely clothes poo stained Sad

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
DS is 17 weeks and in size 2s he's very narrow hips

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were pretty and soft they didn't leak but I felt like I should change him as soon as he woke in the morning which is his heaviest nappy as it was starting to sag, pampers have always held

  • What did you like most about the nappies?

The softness and smell

  • Which nappychat design did you choose

The animals

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

I do talk to him about the animals but each nappy is the same so it doesn't vary much, they work quite well for nappy hat which is one of his favourite activities

  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

Yes

- How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

10 weeks thereabouts (narrow but long body and legs!) - size 2.
We normally use either Pampers (when on offer) or Naty.

- What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

First off, the name and branding are AWFUL. "MUM" and you?! Why single out mums when branding nappies; do dads/carers not change them? Bizarre in 2018. Unless the nappies were exceptional and guaranteed leakproof the name itself would be enough for me to never buy them.

The logo looks cheap and dated and the design of the pack has at least three different fonts including the logo so it looks quite amateurish. I did like the 'window' on the side of the pack to see the designs. I also like that they're made in the UK.

There's a vague bit of text saying 'doing our bit to minimise our impact on the world'. When you look for more information on the pack, this consists of using chlorine-free bleached wood pulp from certified sustainable forestry. The bag is made from renewable raw materials (sugarcane). While this is to be applauded, I consider this to be pretty much minimum standards for any new nappy launching in 2018.

Naty nappies (which I also use) clearly state all over the packaging that they're compostable, plus all the other eco benefits. So, I'm glad these have some eco credentials but imo not enough to make a big deal out of - they will still end up in landfill.

I noticed they were soft - but I've used cheap nappies like Purex Softies which are also soft (but not that great quality). The designs are bold and quite fun.

Unfortunately with my baby having a long body the nappies were too short to easily put onto a wriggly baby and it was actually quite a hassle doing them up.

They did leak poo up the back on one occasion but this is fairly normal for my baby at the moment! On another occasion they contained an explosive poo. So it's hard to rate performance re leaking.

- What did you like most about the nappies?

The soft feel, they aren't too bulky and the sticky tabs work well.

- Which nappychat design did you choose?

Animals ones.

- Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby
I don't think the 'nappychat' gimmick is a great selling point. Unlike some pp I do use nappy time to chat and bond with my baby (for some reason he loves being changed... at the moment) so didn't need to talk about the pictures on his nappy at this age.

- Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

Not particularly, mainly due to the name and the fit which I found awkward.

There is a lot of talk of the price in this thread - I didn't have any information about this included but have googled it and they do seem to be expensive for no particular benefit. (I assume due to being made in the UK?)

We used size 2 nappies on my 12 week old son
I quite liked the Mum and You Nappies. I wasn't sure how they would hold out as they're quite thin but I like the design and they fit well.
I really liked the design, we used the animals design with giraffe and elephants on.
I've spoken to friends about what nappies we're using and different sizes. My son is now out of size 2 nappies but fitted well into these.
I would recommend these to friends and family

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 4 months old, size 3.

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Very positive, they are very soft and don't rustle. No leaks here despite dd's best efforts with some extra big poos. Easily lasted through the night.

  • What did you like most about the nappies? No perfume or bleach smell. I always find a chemical smell on top of the wee/ poo is what makes me gag.

  • Which nappychat design did you choose? The weather one- stars, clouds etc.

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby I talked about the weather outside and showed the picture on the nappy. I also used them to practise signing.

  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend? Yes, if they are a similar price to others.

  • My baby is 4 months old and I used size 3 nappies

  • Overall, I was satisfied with the nappies. Initially I thought they seemed like they would be too thin to be effective but I was pleasantly surprised. The nappies are less stiff than my usual brand (Aldi Mamia) and I felt that they might have therefore been more comfortable for my baby. However, I did change them very regularly as I was worried that their stretchiness and softness might mean that they moved more as she wriggled and might therefore leak. I only actually experienced one bad episode where an explosive poo escaped from the nappy but, frankly, I doubt any nappy would’ve held it in as it was a monster!!

  • I most liked the flexibility and thinness as I felt that this probably made the nappies more soft and comfortable for my baby.

  • We chose the animal design. I was a bit worried that the pattern would be visible through my baby’s clothes, but it wasn’t.

  • I talked to my baby about the animals on the nappies.

  • I probably would recommend these to a friend, subject to price.

My daughter was 9 months as these were used in a size 3
They were nice to look at but I did find the front leaked. Other nappies I've used have given warning by becoming bulky if getting full but these didn't so much.
They were very soft but I think this s may have been why they weren't as absorbent or didn't seem to be.
I did talk to my daughter about the pics as I always narrate what I'm doing.
I'd recommend them but would warn people that due to the softness you have tone extra on top of changing them.

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 4 months old (17weeks 5days)

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was impressed with the size of the pack, they felt soft and good quality. The pattern was cute.

My husband felt they seemed a little short in the body although I can’t say I noticed this.
I felt like they didn’t distribute the wee very well, it all seemed to sit at the front of the nappy and when she pooed I could see this through the nappy which in some ways was helpful but in others I think I’d prefer not to see it.
I think they need the colour changing strip - I don’t understand why this wouldn’t be included on all sizes.

  • What did you like most about the nappies?

How soft they felt. Good size packed.

  • Which nappychat design did you choose?

We chose the green and pink cloud and stars packet

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

We didn’t, it’s a nice idea but I can’t imagine anyone spends that long changing nappies that they would have time to make up stories about the pattern. In our house we change the nappy prior to feeding - baby is impatient so we don’t hang around.

  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

Initially I thought I would until I looked up the price £14.99 for a pack of 72 nappies is ridiculous, I can’t imagine that anyone could afford to pay that, especially when on maternity leave.
I couldn’t in good faith recommend these when in all honesty I couldn’t say they were any better then some of the supermarket brands that are much cheaper.
For a more realistic price I would use them.

  • How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

6 months, size 3

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

My initial impression was that the seemed a bit cheep and flimsy. However I liked how soft and lightweight they are. I was pleased that they were environmentally responsible.

  • What did you like most about the nappies?

How soft and lightweight they are, and their eco credentials.

  • Which nappychat design did you choose?

The blue one with animals

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

To be honest, I haven't been particularly inspired by the designs. No more so than by other brands. I took a look at the website to find out more about them because they seemed to be a big part of the product's USP. It was by looking at the website that I found out more about the eco credentials. So I did speak to my baby about that a bit...

  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

Yes. I'm also considering signing up for the bundle deals.

Really soft and didn’t leak. A wetness indicator would be good.

  • What did you like most about the nappies?

Softness

  • Which nappychat design did you choose?

Animals

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

We commented on the different animals on them, but no more so than I would normally chat to him while changing him

  1. 17 weeks and size 3
  2. They seemed to be high quality and were well made. There wasn't that strong chemical smell associated with disposable nappies and they were noticeably softer than other brands of nappy that we use.
  3. My overall impression of Mum & You Nappies was that they were softer and felt high end. Cotton like softness, but also leak proof and seemed comfortable for my daughter to wear. There wasn't anything I disliked. Not having a wetness indicator wasn't an issue for me because I know my daughter will need changing every couple of hours before I feed her or put her in bed for naps. With poos it's obvious. I found the nappy contained poo fairly well.
  4. The softness. I was sent the weather design. I didn't use the designs to talk to my baby. We talk and sing all the way through nappy changes because she is generally not a fan of being changed.
  5. I would recommend them to friends who have a higher budget, but I just can't see many being able to afford this price. It is much higher than your bog-standard nappy offering.
Maybe to someone who uses reusable nappies at home and only uses disposables when out and about (I do this sometimes).
It's nice to know the company is benevolent to mums in the developing world.
But again, most people don't have the luxury of paying over the odds in order to help others?

Lastly, was a bit Hmm at the name. Lots of people change nappies other than the mum. I change 99% of nappies in our house, but that isn't necessarily the norm and I found the name a bit old fashioned. It's surprising since they are a young brand designed by mums.
Just an observation; it wouldn't particularly bother me or put me off the nappies.

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
Baby is 3 months old and I used size 3

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The nappies are really soft. The patterns on them were nice, but I would have prefered to have something which shows when the nappy is wet (a wee stripe). I loved the cutout for the belly button and I think this will be a great feature for newborns. The nappies did leak when used over night, however they managed to contain a number of poonamis which occured through the day much better than my normal brand.
  • What did you like most about the nappies? That they managed to not leak poo
  • Which nappychat design did you choose? Animal print
  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby I didn't talk about the design on the nappy. This might be more useful for older children
  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend? I would recommend them as being able to contain poo, but not for overnight usage

Also would like to add that as the pattern is all over it can be slightly difficult to see which is the front and which is the back when you are in a rush or tired!!!!

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My son is 5.5 months old and we tested the size 3 nappies

What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies?

Overall I thought they were an excellent quality nappy, felt lovely, were more attractive than other brands and had reasonable absorbency.

What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked the soft feel of the nappies. I also liked the fact that they are responsibly manufactured, eg the packaging is made from sugar cane rather than plastic. I also liked the fact they didn't have a strong chemical smell like some other brands.

I found the fact that the sizing was different from other brands slightly confusing - eg size 3 is for 4-9kg rather than 6-10kg (Pampers) and found the fit to be on the small side, particularly from front to back. We had some leaks and I had to go back to using another brand overnight - I don't think my son is a particularly heavy wetter so that was disappointing.

What did you like most about the nappies?

The feel of them was probably my favourite thing.

Which nappychat design did you choose?

Animals (blue) - they were nice but could have been bolder.

Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

I tried to make up stories about the animals, giving them names, etc but to be honest after a few times I ran out of ideas. To be honest I wouldn't say the "chat" aspect was a particular attraction

Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

Possibly - perhaps if their baby had particularly sensitive skin as the lack of chemicals is a particular attraction.

  1. My daughter is 4 months old and using size 3.

  1. My overall impression is that I really like the softness of the nappies, fit and picture design. There is nothing I dislike.

  1. I liked how soft the nappies are the most, and I do also like the uniqueness of their design.

  1. The weather design with stars and clouds.

  1. I was a bit confused as the website seemed to indicate I’d get a set of supporting flash cards to inspire songs / stories relating to the nappy characters, but I didn’t get any. Maybe if I had this would have given me a reference point and brought the characters to life a bit. To be honest I struggled to remember their names from the website alone. Nappy changing is a very social time anyway as my daughter is usually raised up and facing me, so we always have fun, talk and pull funny faces. I didn’t really use or need the nappies to enhance this if I’m totally honest. Perhaps if my daughter was older we would be pointing at the characters more. It might have been nice to have a mixture of designs as others have said.

  1. I would recommend them as they’re so soft and I only experienced one leak with them (just slightly up the back). My daughter usually leaks out of the leg cuffs on other nappies but that hasn’t happened with these. They also seem to be a lot less bulk-y; some other brands have a lot of excess nappy between her legs that bunches up.

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I love the colours and pattern, the design and softness of the nappy. I liked that they distributed the urine around the whole nappy rather than gathering. Unfortunately I found they started to leak, although I think we were due to go up a size, and now have down with another brand.

I really liked them, people tended to comment on them if they changed him. They fitted him well, despite being smaller on him than others and better than a pampers size 3 which he would wet through over night.

  • How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My baby is 11 weeks old and I had the size 3 nappies

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought they were lovely and colourful, and I liked the cartoon designs. I also thought they were very light and soft. The only thing I disliked was that the velcro tabs are white, and so hard to spot when changing the nappy in a dimly lit room. I also felt that more could be made on the packaging of the fact that they are eco friendly and what that actually means, I had to search through the website to find that it actually means that they are made from chlorine-free bleached wood pulp from certified sustainable forestry, and not that they are biodegradable, which is what I assumed it meant.

  • What did you like most about the nappies?

How light and soft they were.

  • Which nappychat design did you choose?

I had the blue animal ones.

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

I didn't really use the designs as such, they were lovely but I tend to sing to my DS when I change his nappy, so it was an odd thing to try and chatter to him instead.

  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

I would, if they retailed at a good price. Unfortunately based on the prices on the website, I don't know many of my friends who would consider buying them. Personally I wouldn't be likely to buy them at the current retail price.

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby is 4 months and we used size 3.

What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
My first impression was that the nappies were very soft and light and I liked the designs on them. They fit very well and DS was comfortable in them. However, they did not seem very absorbent and I felt we had to change them more often than our usual brand. We also had a couple of leaks with them and when tested overnight, DS’s vest felt damp. I’d also like it to be easier to distinguish between the front and back of the nappy.

What did you like most about the nappies?
The softness and the fit.

Which nappychat design did you choose?
Animals

Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby
The first few times I changed DS, I pointed out the animals and named them. But I always talk to DS during nappy changes anyway, and I went back to my usual chatter rather than talking about the nappies. I think the designs would be more engaging for an older baby and it would also help to have varied designs in the packaging. When I read about using the nappies to tell a story I thought that the designs would change as you moved through the pack and that talking about the changes would prompt the story.

Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend them, but mostly because of the price.

-How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Baby is 9 weeks old and we tested the size 2 as that is why she wears in her usual brand. She could really have done with the size 3 but I guess that’s more down to bum shape than sizing!!

- What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked how lovely and soft they are and the nice patterns. They didn’t seem as crackly and rustly as our usual brand. They did, however, seem to feel slightly damp all over when a little full. They didn’t seem to leak round the legs like you would expect with an overfilled nappy. They didn’t quite cope with a poo explosion- but five days of newborn, breastfed poo is probably more than anyone could cope with!!

- What did you like most about the nappies?

I liked how super soft they are.

- Which nappychat design did you choose?

The ones we tested were the grey background with pink characters.

- Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

I didn’t particularly use them to talk to her.

- Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

I would if they were looking for a softer nappy. But I would like to see them a little more waterproof so they don’t feel slightly damp. They are also considerably more expensive than our usual brand so they would have to be on offer or discounted in some way.

I also second the fact that because of the pattern that front vs back is somewhat difficult at 3am in the half dark when you’ve not slept properly for pretty much ever.

  • How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

We had size 3 for our 9 month old- the size didn't seem the same as other brands though and were smaller.

  • What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved the softness, and they were absorbent. I liked the designs as they were bright and colourful but I'm not sure they inspired any stories.
I didn't like the leaks we regularly had at the front.

  • What did you like most about the nappies?

The softness. They weren't rustley or stiff like others can be.

  • Which nappychat design did you choose?

We had blue with elephants

  • Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby

Not really....nappy time is a bit more of a wriggling challenge than a story opportunity however he did like looking at the animals.

  • Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?

I think the price point isn't justified based on the quality of the product. Cheaper nappies have cute pictures and are better quality.

We tested Size 3 nappies and my baby is 16 weeks old and weighs 14lbs 14oz.

The nappies were lovely and soft - much softer than any other nappies we've had before. They fitted quite well but gaped a little bit at the top. We didn't have any leaks from the nappies, even when used overnight however my baby's skin felt a bit damp to touch and if you touched the inside of thr nappy it felt wetter than my current brand of premium nappies.

The thing I liked most about the nappies was the softness.

We received the star/night time theme nappies which were fairly cute. I did not use these images to talk to my baby though as they were far too bland for that purpose - all the stars looked the same and there wasn't much to talk about. It would be better to have the stars different colours or sizes so i could use descriptive language to introduce colour or size to baby. Or for each picture to be a character with a name so I could make up stories that way.

Although these nappies are lovely and soft I would not recommend then purely due to the high price which I don't think is justified. If they were priced the same as Pampers Premium then I'd possibly consider recommending them as an alternative but they are more expensive and not as absorbent or well fitting in my opinion.

My son is 19 weeks and we used size 3 nappies.

On the whole we really liked the nappies. I liked the softness and they were a good fit for my son so did not leak poo, although did occasionally leak wee as he is a heavy wetter and they don’t seem as absorbent as other brands. As others have said, environmental credentials are not sold enough - there is very limited information in comparison to other brands like Kit and Kin which suggests the product is less eco friendly. Hard to tell if this is actually the case or not!

Price has to be the biggest downside. We use Kit and Kin so already spend quite a bit more than average but these are ridiculous, I assumed it was a typo on the website at first.

We had the green star design. I thought the design/nappychat concept was one of the poorest bits to be honest. I love the Kit and Kin nappies we use normally and these look quite tacky in comparison. The nappychat concept is a bit patronising and as others have said doesn’t really make sense - babies don’t see the nappies, the designs are all the same in one pack so no variety to discuss and why talk about some stars anyway?! Differentiation between front and back would be helpful.

If the nappies were cheaper and I knew the environmental impact better then yes, for the nappy itself. At current price point it’s very hard to justify.
