- How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
10 weeks thereabouts (narrow but long body and legs!) - size 2.
We normally use either Pampers (when on offer) or Naty.
- What was your overall impression of Mum & You Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
First off, the name and branding are AWFUL. "MUM" and you?! Why single out mums when branding nappies; do dads/carers not change them? Bizarre in 2018. Unless the nappies were exceptional and guaranteed leakproof the name itself would be enough for me to never buy them.
The logo looks cheap and dated and the design of the pack has at least three different fonts including the logo so it looks quite amateurish. I did like the 'window' on the side of the pack to see the designs. I also like that they're made in the UK.
There's a vague bit of text saying 'doing our bit to minimise our impact on the world'. When you look for more information on the pack, this consists of using chlorine-free bleached wood pulp from certified sustainable forestry. The bag is made from renewable raw materials (sugarcane). While this is to be applauded, I consider this to be pretty much minimum standards for any new nappy launching in 2018.
Naty nappies (which I also use) clearly state all over the packaging that they're compostable, plus all the other eco benefits. So, I'm glad these have some eco credentials but imo not enough to make a big deal out of - they will still end up in landfill.
I noticed they were soft - but I've used cheap nappies like Purex Softies which are also soft (but not that great quality). The designs are bold and quite fun.
Unfortunately with my baby having a long body the nappies were too short to easily put onto a wriggly baby and it was actually quite a hassle doing them up.
They did leak poo up the back on one occasion but this is fairly normal for my baby at the moment! On another occasion they contained an explosive poo. So it's hard to rate performance re leaking.
- What did you like most about the nappies?
The soft feel, they aren't too bulky and the sticky tabs work well.
- Which nappychat design did you choose?
Animals ones.
- Describe if/how you used the nappychat designs to talk with your baby
I don't think the 'nappychat' gimmick is a great selling point. Unlike some pp I do use nappy time to chat and bond with my baby (for some reason he loves being changed... at the moment) so didn't need to talk about the pictures on his nappy at this age.
- Would you recommend these nappies to a friend?
Not particularly, mainly due to the name and the fit which I found awkward.
There is a lot of talk of the price in this thread - I didn't have any information about this included but have googled it and they do seem to be expensive for no particular benefit. (I assume due to being made in the UK?)
