This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack (RRP £2.09)
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack (RRP £2.09)

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection with a super absorbent core. They're extra soft and flexible with a stretchy waistband. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimize our carbon footprint."

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
    3 years 8 months, size 6

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Both packs looked comfortable, although pack 2 seemed to fit a little better and didn't look so obvious under clothing. Overall impression was very good - however I cannot unfortunately comment on their absorbability as between applying for this product test and receiving the pants, my son is almost completely toilet trained and is only wearing pull ups at night 'just in case'.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes definitely - the price is amazing for what you get.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Son doesn't really need them anymore, but if I had more children and these were still available, I definitely would! Main reason being the price, but they also looked very comfortable and seemed to have been designed with active toddlers in mind, which is how they should be!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes when I start potty/toilet training because they r very absorbt and would be easier then nappies whilst toilet training

Thishatisnotmine · 16/11/2017 20:17
  1. Aged nearly 3, size 6.
  1. Liked the nappies a lot, especially the ones with the very stretchy sides. They were generously sized which is good for my tall dd. Used them when potty training and nice and easy for dd to put on herdelf and absorbed the few wees that she had with them on and good at night.

3.Would definitely reccommend.

  1. Yes, have never used Lidl nappies before and would buy the pull ups again and would try the traditional nappies for dd2. I would use the smaller sized stretchy sized ones for dd2 as well when she is ready for size 5.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My child is 2 and we tested Size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I preferred the quality 2 pack. The fit just felt more snug. Overall, both were fine. No leaks and both contained poo really well.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes. I preferred them to the leading brand ones we used to use.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes. The price is good and I was really impressed with the quality.

AppleDragon · 16/11/2017 21:29

) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

2.5 years old and we tested size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were a great fit, especially the type with the stretchy sides. They seemed substantial but comfortable, and we had no leaks.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely: I think they are better than the market leader.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes I think they are good value for money and better than pull up pants that I used in the past with my oldest child.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
    Almost 3 (2yrs 11 months)

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were okay but seemed a bit bulkier than the other pull ups we’ve used (Huggies night time girls pants), and felt a bit strange to touch. Also the designs could be better/cuter/nicer

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes as they are absorbent with no leaks and a lot cheaper than the branded ones we’ve used

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Possibly as they do the job and are cheap. However unfortunately our daughter preferred to wear the huggies ones as they are pink, “prettier” and have Disney princesses on them, so was a bit of a struggle to get her to wear them.

DillieDoily · 16/11/2017 21:38

Forgot to say we used a size 6

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 16/11/2017 22:25
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

23 months and size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very good. Liked the ruffles sides of pack 2 they seemed to fit more snugly round the waist. Pack 1 seemed very cardboardy and thin although they performed well with no leaks. Pack 2 were softer, fitted well and again no leaks.
Liked the sticky strip to wrap them up after use. Pictures were cute and liked by my DD.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes i think I would.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Undecided. I may do.

CorporeSarnie · 16/11/2017 22:30
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Just 3. Night time use only as potty trained in the period between application and testing. Size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Quality 2 ones were fine and fit well, only one leak in an entire pack. Designs were approved by child who liked choosing which one to have.
Quality 1 went straight to nursery as spares after a couple of leaks, they clearly didn't fit my skinny child very well.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Probably. But this isn't the sort of thing that anyone talks about in my experience.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
If I was in Lidl anyway, probably. But wouldn't make a specific trip at the point where my child is only using one pull up a day, and cost vs. leaks and non essential laundry is really important. I'd pay a little extra to avoid a 3am wakeup and pj/bed change. So for quality 1 absolutely not. Would be good to know which is the type which will be in the packs from now on.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
12 months old, we used size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I really liked them, they were very soft and easy to put on. Contained leaks really well (even with volcanic teething poos) and I like the sticky tab on the back. No complaints at all,

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I already have, I normally get Aldi nappies but I’ve been really impressed with these

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Definitely, they’re the best pull ups we’ve tried so far and the price is great too.

tomatopuree · 17/11/2017 07:43
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My son is nearly 3. We had size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

When I opened the bag I was happy. There was no chemical smell. The pull ups looked bright and colourful.

My son intensely dislikes the sticker at the back which we assume is for securing it once it’s rolled up. It catches on his clothes

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes. The nursery have already commented on how easy he finds pulling them up and down compared to his usual brand

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would. I like the fit and the ease with which he can pull up and down himself. The waistband has been designed well. I like the independence that this gives him.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My son is 4years and we tried size 5 pants

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The pants are great and easy to pull on and off

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Will look out for these in store next time I pop in a good buy 👍

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? 2 5 years, size 6

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Pack 2 looked comfortable and easy to get on but I found the sides weren't deep enough and we had two leaks in the day. Tube definitely couldn't be used for overnight.

Pack 1 actually fit better but I'm less keen on the lack of elastication on the side

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I'd suggest they give them a try

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Probably not. I ship at Lidl so I would in an emergency but he's a big wetter and rubbery didn't cope

StickChildNumberTwo · 17/11/2017 11:02
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Size 5, used before and after his second birthday

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was impressed - haven't used pull up pants before. My son initially didn't want to put them on, but once I'd done it once he was sold. I'm impressed with the poo containment - better than most disposables. I like the tabs on the back to wrap them up, but someone had to explain that to me.

They're quite hard to get off if you want to rip them rather than pull them down (i.e. when they're full of poo....) I also found that when they were very full (i.e. first thing in the morning) they sometimes slid down off my boy's skinny hips!

I have no idea what the difference is supposed to be between the two sorts.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

We don't have a Lidl nearby and I won't be making a special trip, but I'd certainly pick some up if I was passing (although given they're the first pull up pants I've tried I may yet discover others are better and/or cheaper - I've not looked)

StickChildNumberTwo · 17/11/2017 11:03

Oh and my son liked the pictures on them!

RHOLST40 · 17/11/2017 11:13

Love the pants, they seem comfy, didn’t leak and good price, I would buy them. Xx

sleepyMe12 · 17/11/2017 12:11

1, Age 2 size 6 was tested.

2, Both packs were great. The waist band on pack 2 was slightly better.

  1. Yes I would
  1. Yes. Great design and good value for money.
IndianaMoleWoman · 17/11/2017 12:51

My DD is nearly three and we used the size 6 overnight only.

Both types leaked. It was a struggle to get DD to put them on because she thought the design was “for boys”. Whilst obviously I try to discourage stereotypes like that, the black and white check design and blue cars just didn’t appeal to her - she prefers brighter designs.

I wouldn’t recommend them because they leaked. It doesn’t matter how cheap they are if I have to then wash all the bedding every morning and my DD is uncomfortable. Having said that, I think nappies are a very subjective issue - my DD doesn’t like Pampers either, they just don’t fit her right. There are other supermarket own brands that cost a little more but have a nicer design and fit my DD better ensuring no leaks (Asda, Tesco).

I wouldn’t buy them, but to be honest even if they were great I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go to Lidl. Our nearest one is in the middle of a really, really rough area and the car park looks scary.

  1. Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My son is nearly 3 and we used size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Honestly better then others of similar prices.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

For some reason we have a problem with leakage with all nappys other then pampers. But we used these during the day and they held out well compared to other nappys of a similar price/competition, so would Defiantly recommend others to try them. We received 2 styles, one was really thick and the other was much slimmer. The slimmer ones had a straight stretchy edging, and the thicker ones had a crinkly stretch edging, we found the thicker ones stayed up better.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, will be great for potty training

Bicnod · 17/11/2017 16:52
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

We used the size 6 as night nappies with our two (nearly three) year old and our six year old.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked them: stretchy and comfy, wide waistband, cute designs and didn't leak! Nothing I didn't like about them.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, because they do the job and are a lot cheaper than the leading brands!

Bicnod · 17/11/2017 16:54

By the way, we tried both packs as overnight nappies on both children and neither leaked at all.

Miaow1234 · 17/11/2017 18:22
  1. We tested size 6 for a five year old
  2. My daughter only wore the softer/stretchy sided ones once as they cut into her legs and left red marks so she would try again, they did feel the softer ones too- quality 2. The more average, stiffer ones were fine and absorbent, quality 1. Design was fine on both.
  3. I would recommend as absorbent.
  4. We would buy pack 1 again.
DaisyDando · 17/11/2017 19:31
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? He is 2.5 and we use 6.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They look nice. The Batman pictures were popular and I was more than happy to give them a go.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes, if I was near a Lidl. I think they are well priced. I prefer Pampers and I prefer nappies to pull up pants, but the Lidl product is very good value.

MaverickSnoopy · 17/11/2017 20:23

1) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My daughter is 16 months and we tried size 5. She was probably on the small side for them in hindsight but nonetheless they still fit her and worked perfectly.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were very flexible and soft and seemed a better alternative than the Sainsburys pull ups which I have used in the past on my eldest. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't work out which way round they went. Probably just me but I was looking for some sort of indication but couldn't find one.

3) Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
No. As a general rule I don't make recommendations.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Probably but I tend to shop in Aldi. So I would try theirs first (if they sell them) and then I would come to Lidl (if Aldi didn't sell them). I prefer not to make more than one trip which is behind my reasoning.

TiggH · 18/11/2017 08:24
  1. Child is 2.5. Also my 4 year old who wears them at night. I tried size 6.

  2. I think they are great. I preferred the new wider waistband but that style also has more material around the legs which I thought too bulky. They rarely leak.

  3. Yes, definitely.

  4. I do shop at Lidl so have started using them. I do prefer pampers pull ups as they are more flexible all over but as they cost so much more I'll stick with Lidl's.
