This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack (RRP £2.09)
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack (RRP £2.09)

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection with a super absorbent core. They're extra soft and flexible with a stretchy waistband. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimize our carbon footprint."

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

1) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My little one is three years old and I used the 5 Junior size.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was very impressed with the quality, the softness, the absorption capacity and good fit. I did not like the sides though, as if the pants are soiled, then you can't just pull them down (for fear of getting them everywhere), so you have to tear the sides off and this can sometimes hurt LO.
3) Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Oh definitely - they are much more affordable than some well established brands and do as great a job as the more famous ones!
4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I would definitely buy these pants again - they're fun to use and are more affordable. They fit well and most importantly, my LO likes them!

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

3.5 years old, and we tried size 6 junior xl.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Loved them, especially 'quality 2'. The wide comfy waistband was brilliant, they were slimline and the tab to close them was great too. My son only wears them at night but no leakage at all and very comfortable.

  2. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely!

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes as soon as these run out I'll be buying more!

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

1) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My little boy is 4 and quarter, and only wears nappies/pull ups at bedtime.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We liked them. They were certainly comparable in quality to other brands that we use, and I liked the design on the front.

3) Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, if I knew they used Lidl shops

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Probably not - but ONLY because we don't have a Lidl near us :(

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

almost two year old and we tested size 5s

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Good, we used them overnight and had no leaks. I preferred the ones with the ruffled sides as these were easier to get on my chunky toddler. I didn't dislike anything about them.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would, although I am not a fan of the new name - it's a real tongue twister. So I would probably refer to them as 'Lidl pull ups'!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes if i was near to a Lidl store

2 years old, size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Liked the sticker on the back to seal the used nappy. Overall nappies performed well.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would buy again. I usually buy Aldi brand and main differences were the sticker to close the used nappy and the bright pictures which little boy liked and commented on.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My son is 2yrs 4 months and we used size 6.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I prefeared the quality 2 style, the elastic waistband was nice and came up high enough. They were happy around the legs and every single nappy I used leaked, day or night. The sizing is wrong I think.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    No .

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
No. They leak. I think this is because the sizes come up big but I wouldn't waste my money trying a smaller size to find details out

NerrSnerr · 16/11/2017 10:30
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My daughter is 3 and we used Size 5 at night.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We thought they were great. The only leakage we had was when not positioned correctly. My daughter loved the design and said they’re comfortable.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would if I was passing a Lidl.

How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

2 years, size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really good absorbency. The ones with the softer sides are in my opinion exactly the same as the leading brand.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely, have done already.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, excellent value for money.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?..

We tested with two children one at 18months(boy) and a nearly 3 year old (girl) and we tested size 5's

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?..
I didn't think they would be of much use But actually I was wrong. I liked the support softness and how they held up if pee was in them. Changes.. are there more designs available?.

  2. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?..
Yes!!. You know I think I would recommend these pull ups. We only had 1 leakage and that was a night time one so maybe down to child havung more drink than normal before bed rather than the pull ups themselves.

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?..

I think I would yes. As above they were quite durable and daughter could pull her own pull up on and they were comfratable and nect to no leakage.

I'm quite shocked at this product I was not expecting any kind of high standard but congratz Lidl they do the job and more.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DC is 5. Tested size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall impression was pretty good, easy to pull up and down. Leaked one night, meaning a whole bed change etc but it’s no worse than other nappies.

  2. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would recommend, because for the price they are good value.

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I probably would buy again in the future although DC may be out of pull ups soon. It'd be great if Lidl would introduce a size 7 into their range.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My Dd is three and a half, we tested size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
So we liked Quality 2 The best. They were like pampers for comfort, lack of leaks and snug fit. Which is important for my lanky dd. Oh and no smells!
Quality 1 were okay but leaked a bit, also found I could smell the urine on it, very strong and unpleasant. Also not as good a fit.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would if Quality 2 is what comes into stores! The price and the fact it's a pampers equivalent would definitely make it worth it.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes as long as it's Quality 2 (there maybe a theme here). We now have a Lidl in town so would make it very easy to purchase.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DS is 2 years 4 months and wears size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Overall impression was very good. I've only ever used Aldi nappies and these were definitely as good, with a few added benefits such as the little sticky strip at the back to hold the whole thing together for disposal.

Things I liked are the sticky strip, and with pack 2 I really liked the stretchy fabric-type waistband.

I didn't like how rigid the crotch area was and how narrow the bum area was as it was difficult to get the pull-up on straight and central to ensure no accidents! I think pack 1 were the more rigid, but truthfully I've never used a pull-up that isn't tricky to get on straight first time.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Oh yes, definitely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, I do now get our nappies from the local Lidl rather than Aldi, although I do hope they change to the type 2 pull-up instead of type 1 in time for my youngest to use them! The main reasons are price and that sticky strip for wrapping up.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Son, aged 3 years 10 months. We used the size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought they seemed very high quality. They were absorbent and comfortable - my son isn't keen on the ones with Velcro tapes as they catch on his skin, and he was very happy they didn't have those.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, due to the intended rrp and quality.

Serafinaaa · 16/11/2017 13:55
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

I used Size 5 on both my 11 month old girl and my 2yrs 9 months boy.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

My first impressions were that one of the trial nappies looked very much like a pampers pull up and the other looked like other supermarket brands. I much prefer the stretchy soft waistband of pampers pull ups so was keen to test these. My son liked the designs and was keen to wear them. They fitted both of my children well and we had no leaks day or night. Both types of nappy worked well although the stretchy waistband ones fitted my daughters smaller waist better whilst still stretching for my son. I liked everything about them and the price is good.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely. They are my new favourite nappy! Especially the stretchy smocked waistband ones they are pampers style.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Definitely if I was nearby to a Lidl. I would stock up!

OhIfIMust · 16/11/2017 14:24

Yes that’s right - quality 1 were the less stretchy ones.

OhIfIMust · 16/11/2017 14:28
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Age 5 and size 6 pull-ups - Night time
    Use only.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They looked okay. Definitely unisex design. The quality 1 pack were less stretchy to put on than the second set. Overall I think we preferred quality 1 to 2 as they seemed to fit our little boy better. He’s quite slim so the other design moved a bit too much.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Sadly not because both types leaked overnight.

  2. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Maybe if we were further down the dry at night route - but for now I’d say no because of all the extra washing because of the leaks!

Lisasm21 · 16/11/2017 14:57
  1. 22 months and size 5
  2. I really liked them - stretchy, good fit and absorbency and great value. Only down side is my daughter managed to poo out the side one time.
  3. Yes - we previously trialled the Nappies and were so impressed we moved over to them and have recommended them to family and friends and would do the same with the Lidl lupilu pull-up pants .
  4. Yes - whilst I think for the time being we will stick with Lidl Nappies, when we are ready to potty train we will move over to them

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? We used size 6 on our 2yo DD.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They were really soft, not at all bulky. I really liked the nappies on a practical level. However I think the designs on them are terrible. Really cheap looking.
  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would definitely recommend them. They were great.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? They're so cheap and work brilliantly. I can put up with the terrible pictures on them for the sake of a few quid saved! I already really liked Lidl nappies. This has shown me that the smart pants are better than the (already good) nappies.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
    10 months - size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Quality 2 were a lovely fit and very soft with the stretchy, very absorbent.
Quality 1 fit a bit too big for us and we did have a bit of leakage unfortunately, I think due to the big fit.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes Quality 2.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, they seemed comfortable and absorbent, they were easy to get on and take off my little wriggler and good price.
