This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack (RRP £2.09)
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack (RRP £2.09)

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection with a super absorbent core. They're extra soft and flexible with a stretchy waistband. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimize our carbon footprint."

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. 1 year 9 months
  2. generally I thought that they were as good as or better than other nappies I have tried however they are not suitable to nighttime wear.
  3. I would reccomend as a day time nappy
  4. I am strongly considering buying more (although it is an inconvenience to go to Lidl so may have to consider buying in large quantities/doing other shopping there to justify the trip).

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I was impressed. 4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would. We don’t visit Lidl very frequently but I would stock up on these when we do. Great value for money and nothing negative to say about them, so we would definitely buy againz

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
No, due to the nappy rash issues.

3 year old size 6 nighttime use!

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They looked cute, my son liked the designs. They worked really well - no leaks at all overnight!

3) Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DD is 2.3 years old and we used size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

My Dd loved the designs and found them very comfortable (she would choose these over other nappies when given the choice). However, she wet through them almost all the time. They had to be changed after a max of about 1.5-2 hours otherwise she'd be soaked through.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Probably not, they weren't absorbent enough for us.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Again probably not, for the same reason which is lack of absorbent.

Pinklady1981 · 14/11/2017 15:12
  1. we tested the size 5 pull ups and my son is 2 yrs 5 months.

2)first impression were good on opening the pack. I liked the stretchy side panels, easy ness of getting the pull ups on and off, even in a poo situation! I also liked the sticky tab at the back for disposal of the pull up. I personally think the pull ups could be a bit more absorbent!

3)yes i would recommend.

4)i would probably only buy them again as a nighttime nappy not during the day due to absorbency.

FlowerTink · 14/11/2017 15:17

1) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Size 6 - She's just coming up to 2.5 years and we were potty training.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They are really easy to get up and down, dd was able to do them hereself as we are potty training and overnight when she wore them for bed, there were no leaks! They felt soft, they are very absorbant and my dd LOVED the pictures on them! She was so excited to wear them and see the pictures on the front.

3) Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely! They are really good value for money, and previous to this test I was unaware that Lidl sold them so I was delighted!

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Absolutely. They are fantastic value for money and I loved how easy they are to use and how there were no leaks! Definitely my new favourite pull ups.

kiya7769 · 14/11/2017 15:20
  1. My daughter is 3 and we tried size 6.
  1. I loved them! Compared to pull ups they are great! My daughter is currently potty training and still uses pull ups at night. These nappies were amazingly absorbent. They fit really well which prevented any leakage. Also they have a sticky tag on the back for easy disposal which is great! There was nothing i disliked about them!
  1. Yes definitely!
  1. Yes i would! They are great value for money and my daughter loved the design!
DoodleCat · 14/11/2017 15:21
  1. 2 and a half years old and we tried size 6

  2. Really liked them, they fitted well and she seemed comfortable in them. A couple of leaks from Quality 2 ones but nothing terrible. I also liked the cartoon style pictures on them.

  3. Yes, specially Quality 1.

  4. Yes absolutely, would probably aim to get Quality 1 but would also buy Quality 2 if they were the only available in the store.

ifigoup · 14/11/2017 15:43
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

16 months; size 5.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The designs were fun, but it wasn't entirely clear to me which was the front and which was the back (possibly only because we hadn't used any pull-ups before at all so I wasn't really sure what they looked like / how they went on compared with normal nappies).

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes; we had been having several consecutive nights of overnight leaks, and these put a stop to them!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would buy pull-ups in size 5 again and would definitely consider these if the price was favourable compared with other brands.

Yes, for daytime wear but not at night.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

9 months at the time of testing and the size 5 junior active (he's a big lad!)

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved how soft they felt and that they didn't move around much. They did feel a tad too snug at the top of the leg but that may be due to DS's chunky thighs.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I definitely would, what mum wouldn't want to hear about a cheap but quality nappy!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I will definitely use these again in the future, they're perfect for babies that wriggle in their sleep as they don't tend to slip.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

He is 2. Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved the fit, they looked good under clothing, not bulky like you see on other supermarket brands, they were easy to get on and easy to pull down for potty time they were easy to tear up the perforations up the leg to get off - great feature ! My son loved the design. I loved also the tape on the back for rolling up and disposing of in my nappy bag - took up much less room in my black bin.
Negative - they were no good for night time, great for daytime, but were a bit more rigid feeling and not as soft than my usual brand, but the price difference mad up for the negatives.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would definitely for day time use, and for night time when potty training when they are only used for the odd accident.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would buy them for the price, effectiveness and daytime use. They are well designed, and as good as the market leader.

Sparkles23 · 14/11/2017 16:25
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? 3 years old and tested size 6 (she just wears them at night)

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Thought they were fantastic, no leaks, cheap to buy and comfortable! I have always used Pampers nappies for her (and her older and younger brothers) and always use the Pampers pants as found the Huggies dry nites absolute rubbish, didn’t think anything would compare but these do and given how cheap they are I am converted! Considering giving the normal nappies a go for my youngest who is 1.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely for all the reasons above!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes and am intending to do so as they are just as good as the Pampers pants and fraction of price!

liane77 · 14/11/2017 16:36
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

2 yrs and 3 months - size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Loved the pack with the fully elasticated waist (just like a swim nappy). The fit was good around the waist and the legs and they were quite thin, not bulky at all.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Already have and gave a few away as testers

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Definitely, they were so easy. My LB was scared of pants but once he found these, he loved that he could step into them and be like his siblings.

liane77 · 14/11/2017 16:37

Forgot to say absorbancy was amazing - they even coped with being worn overnight without issue.

SleepWouldBeANiceThing · 14/11/2017 16:40
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
    DS is 2 1/2 (15kg). Tested size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They did the job and didn't leak (not that this has been a problem with the current pullups we use). They were easy for DS to pull up and down by himself. However DS is rather opinionated and stubborn and decided he didn't like the design on them - required a lot of persuasion to wear them compared to his usual peppa pig design ones. They were also a bit baggy around the waist and the sides were difficult to rip to take off on one of the packs (think it was condition 2).

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Would recommend them as they are cheap and seem as good as any other pullup.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? No I wouldn't buy them for DS as he's made his opinion on the design very clear and is reluctant to put them on. However, they appear to be a perfectly decent pullup that is good value for money.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My lb who is 2.9 years old

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the normal pull-ups but disliked the smart pants. The smart pants have a band round the waist and although a pull-up with a traditional waist sits well on the bottom. The smart pants gusset seem either smaller and moves easier so the important part of the gusset isn't covering his bottom. I am unsure if this is due to the give in the waistband. This is not an issue purely with the Lidl pull-up, I also have the same issue with a world wide brand of pull up pants.

I loved the fact that the pull-up was pretty and the comic design on it actually made it much easier to tell at a glance which way is the front. Definitely a plus when chasing an active toddler about. They held tribe well over night although looking at the thickness initially I didn't have high hopes for not needing a change in the middle of the night. However I was nicely surprised no leaks overnight and did a good 11 hours.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes although not the smart pants

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would due to ease of use. Price wise not the most expensive but a similar pricing to other supermarket brand pull ups.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DS 3 years old and we tested the size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the design and the fit of them, especially with DS who is tall and skinny legged but with quite a gut they fit well all round. We also had no leakage which us a bonus as we were still getting this with other leading brands.

The only thing that confused me at first was the sticky strip down the back, but once I worked out it was to keep the pants closed/sealed once soiled (much like the tabs on nappiez) I thought it was a great inclusion.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes we will now be using them as they are a perfect fit for DS and he doesn't react to them like other brands. We have also moved closer to a new Lidl store and the pants are great value for money.

6 & 4 Yrs old, we tested size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Children could put them on and take them off independently, only worn overnight and there hasn't been any leaks. No chemical smells before or after wear. Children liked the pictures

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, have recommended them to a friend.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

My son is 23 months and we tested the size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought they were ok. I like the fact they are easy to put on a wriggly toddler which is a great idea they are also easy to remove by ripping the sides. My son also liked the designs on them. We did however have a few leaks but I thought the quality 1 packs were better

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

The quality 1 pack yes they are a good idea and I did find them better than other brands of these that I have tried

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes probably if I was shopping in Lidl as they are good value for money
