This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack (RRP £2.09)
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack (RRP £2.09)

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection with a super absorbent core. They're extra soft and flexible with a stretchy waistband. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimize our carbon footprint."

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DS is 4 years old and we tested the size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Overall I like the pull up pants. Ds only wears them to bed now and I like how easily he could pull them up and down to use the toilet without the sides ripping. He is normally dry in the morning but unfortunately when he did have an accident in the night the pull up pants leaked. I felt they were good value.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would if they were trying to save money.

  2. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? I would buy them because they are better value than most alternatives but I would prefer to buy them in bulk rather than in such small bags.

UnalliterativeGeorge · 14/11/2017 18:16
  1. 2.5 and size 6
  2. Very impressed, no problems at all and would buy again
  3. Yes, already have
  4. Yes if I lived nearer a shop. May make a special trip as we’ll start potty training soon!
CheeseEMouse · 14/11/2017 18:42
  1. age 2.5 and size 6
  2. they were fine. My son objected to the picture on them (!). I was a bit concerned about the absorbancy and I don't think I would have left him hanging around in a wet nappy as they went a bit lumpy and he was tugging at it as it was clearly uncomfortable.
  3. yes, for the phase in potty training where more often than not they go on the loo and only have the odd accident.
  4. no as we are now in pants (hurray) but in principle i would recommend
luckylorca · 14/11/2017 18:51

1). Child's age - 5

2). Overall impression - does what it says on the tin! Easy on, comfortable, stayed on, kept him dry.

  1. Recommend? - yes! They are cheap and they work just as well as expensive brands.

Buy again? - Why not?!

My son is 2 1/2 and we used size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the pull up pants, we preferred the fit on quality 2. Found them absorbent and comfortable. Only issue we had was with the sticky tape on the back sticking to his clothes!

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, especially as they are so reasonably priced

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future?

Yes, I would buy them.

Karanew · 14/11/2017 19:12

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
2.5 yr old DD in size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I really liked them! Normally we stick with Morrison's nappies/pants as they manage to contain dds racehorse wees but these did really well. I liked the mixed designs on them, as did DD. As others have said, I really appreciated the addition of the sticky tab on the back as most nappy pants don't have this. Generous sizing as well without compromising on protection.
Dislike - I didn't really like the banding that went around the Quality 2 nappies as it made them difficult to adjust when pulled up - those ones usually ended up giving DD a wedgie! The Q2 ones also seemed smaller.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Would definitely recommend

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would def buy them again if there was a Lidl local to me, as they were good quality and good value for money. However if only the Quality 2 ones were available I probably would just stick to the Morrison's ones.

1) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
He's 19 months old and we tested size 5, which is what he currently wears.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
A really child friendly design which is similar in absorbency to more expensive rivals. I hadnt expected that. They fit nicely around the thigh which I liked as well. Pack 2 was better than pack 1 for our son.
My only criticism is that they come up larger than standard size 5 nappies, I think (or perhaps it's just that our son has a smaller waist than average!). Despite feeling a little loose, they didnt leak.

3) Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Already have done!

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I dont currently buy pants like this as they are more expensive (even though they are really much easier to put on a wriggling toddler). However, for this price, I will definitely consider getting more packs - especially as we move towards potty training.

Thank you for sending the samples.

jodiebeaumont1909 · 14/11/2017 19:43
  1. 21 months, size 5
  2. I found pack 1 were quite stiff and didn't seem like they would be as comfortable for my child but pack 2 were soft, comfortable and had no leaks compared to pack 1
  3. Yes definitely pack 2
  4. Yes as good value and good quality
Eover30 · 14/11/2017 19:48

We’ve been using them (size 5) for my little boy who is 22months old

When they first arrived I thought the quality was great. The softer ones we reminded me of Pampers pull ups, however no we’ve started using them we have fewer leaks the the other pulls up we received.

My little boy is about ready to be potty trained and he does leak a lot in just about every brand of nappy but these have decreased the amount of leaks compared to Pampers.

I would definitely buy these and recommend them to others as they a cheap but an amazing quality

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes if they were the best value pull ups available.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

2 3/4 - potty trained daytime but not night
Size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We really liked these - we had recently had a problem with huggies pull ups leaking if our son had an accident at night (literally every pair he had an accident in leaked), these have been such a great find, a chunk cheaper and generally seem well designed. Luckily our son doesn’t have many accidents at night, but on the occasion he has, we haven’t had any leaks at all. We also haven’t had any sore bums with these, which we noticed we were getting with the huggies pull ups.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely would recommend. We are expecting our second any day now, and I’m tempted to try their nappies for this baby too after this experience (we previously tried the Lidl Nappies ago and really did not like them, and the gave our son nappy rash)

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, definitely - the only thing stopping us is Aldi is in our town, Lidl is the next town along. I did however prefer these to the Aldi pull ups. However, our son has only been wearing them for bed due to him being potty trained during the day now, so I wouldn’t mind driving further to buy them as we wouldn’t need to make as many trips to stock up!

tootsieglitterballs · 14/11/2017 20:36

Also - just to add - I like the sticky bit to fold them up - I missed this with other brands!

pandapop17 · 14/11/2017 20:42

) How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? She is 3 and tried both sizes.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were generous size and my daughter said they were very comfortable. They didn't leak which was great as well.

I didn't like the pictures or pattern on the nappies. They were too busy. A simple design with one character would be better.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes i would

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would because of the generous size and the fact my daughter said they were comfortable.

Thirdload · 14/11/2017 20:45
  1. 18 months and tried size 5.

  2. My overall impression is really good. They fit really well, stayed up, didn't leak, and I could put them on my resistant toddler quite easily. I like the fact they have a sticky strip to seal them after use. Toddler liked the pictures of e.g. dogs in spaceships too.

  3. I would recommend both types I was sent. I slightly prefer the extra stretchy waistband style (similar to pampers pull ups, I think you called them quick pants) as they were a lovely snug fit, but both styles were good and I would happily recommend both.

  4. I would buy again, at the price given above, if I came across a Lidl while out.

Alphvet · 14/11/2017 20:45
  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Aged 3. Size 6

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
We have been wearing them at night as toddler is more or less potty trained in the day time. He will often need the toilet about 4am so these are great to just pull down and up again and straight back to bed without loosening or changing his nappy. He was happy to wear them and called them his nappy pants. He felt quite grown up wearing them and he liked the design. They were also easy for him to put on himself so that encouraged his independence also.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes. A step up from a nappy but still with that safety net. Pulling up and down encourages independence.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes. Until I'm confident that my son has full bladder control I will continue to put him in these at night. I will also buy some when I am fully out of supplies.

Nice one Lidl and thanks for choosIng me to try these

4 - size 6 at bed time

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Dc loved the design and was keen to try them. I thought they had a strong chemical smell when opening them.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

yes.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
23 mths and size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? First impressions they looked narrower than other brands weve used. We did have a few leaks which we never experienced with other brands . Overall they held up well. Not much difference between both packs just different style on sides . LO liked them and had no discomfort with them

  2. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Not really no .after few leaks i cant praise them

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Despite them being a good fair price i may give them another try ( perhaps i had a faulty pack that caused the leaks !)

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My child is 2 years old and we used size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I thought they are a good product. I liked that they were easy to put on and pretty absorbable. I wasn't keen on using them at nighttime but one night I did and no leakages. I wasn't to keen on the stiffer fabric on the second pack of nappies- smart pants. I liked the softer quick pants.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes I think I would.

Overall impressed with this product, I think the quality is better than Huggi es pull ups.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

2 years 8 months, size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked that they felt soft, I preferred the type with the ridged sides, they seemed more comfortable to me.
I liked the sticky tab.
I thought they felt a bit thin, my daughter only wears nappies to bed, and does not heavily soak her nappy anymore. I wondered if she was still very wet at night if they would have been absorbent enough.
My main issue with the nappy was that it was not wide enough at the back to fully cover her bum, leaving her with a bit of a wedgie effect. Again, this wasn't really a big issue because she is almost dry at night. I don't feel that they would have kept her dry if she was still very wet at night.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

No

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My child is 20 months old and we tried size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was very impressed with them. They were soft but yet resistant. The design is very good. They fit well and we didn't have any leak. I also liked the cute prints on it. And super easy to put on but also take off.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, totally and they retail price is very good too!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, because they do the job and are cheaper than many other brands! But I would need to go to Lidl for that.

They are great!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 14/11/2017 21:04

  1. My DD age 3 (just!) - size 6
  1. Really liked them - nice packaging, looked good, quite slimline but didn't leak at all. Seemed comfortable and a nice fit. I didn't particularly dislike anything though thought maybe some of the pictures could have been better
  1. Yes probably, no reason not to recommend them.
  1. Yes I would use them again, had no problems.

Thanks for letting me test them! Smile

RuncibleSp00n · 14/11/2017 21:11

Q1/ My daughter is 3 and a half. We tested the Size 6.

Q2/ My overall impression of both packs was fantastic! I really rated them. We didn’t have a single leak whilst using them day and night. My daughter was previously totally potty-trained but had to have a pretty major op a while ago which set back her development and she’s gone back to using nappies/pull-ups round the clock again. I found these ones really reliable, comfortable on her, and compact. I liked both packs equally actually, and we didn’t notice much difference. She liked the picture on the front too, which cheered her up a bit whilst recovering!

Q3/ Yes, I’d definitely recommend these to friends/family (I already have!)

Q4/ I’d definitely buy these again (already have, in fact!). They’re easily as good if not better than expensive brands, and they’re better than Aldi’s comparitive product. In fact, I shopped in Lidl this week instead of Aldi deliberately so that I could buy these pull-ups again!

Many thanks Lidl for producing such a reliable product at such a low price point. They really helped us out and the reliability was much appreciated at an otherwise difficult time for my daughter’s health. Keep up the good work Lidl! GrinFlowers

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Aged 4 size 6.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I love the waist band of the pull-ups in sample 2. Super soft, stretchy and comfy. I didn't dislike anything about either to be honest. No leaks from either.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes definitely.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes, great value for money and extremely comfortable. My daughter has found the branded ones a little uncomfortable.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My son is 2 and we used size 6.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They are a really good price but they leaked and I didn’t like the new style.

  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
No which is a shame as I used to recommend Lidl’s pull up type nappies all the time as I loved the old style.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
No I wouldn’t as they leak. Again it’s a shame as I rally loved the old style. I’m going to go to my local store and stockpile the old style to hopefully last until my ds is fully potty trained.
