This is the feedback thread for the MN testers who are trying out Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes this summer.

Sani Hands say “with increased public awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and the transfer of germs, people now more than ever want to minimise the risk of picking up germs and bacteria. Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes kill 99.99% of bacteria and germs in seconds, and keep hands protected for up to 6 hours. With 80% of communicable diseases transferred by touch, most bacteria on our hands is on the fingertips and under our nails. Sani Hands anti-bacterial wipes are proven to be the most effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water.

They are perfect for busy days with the children, and are also popular with commuters, holiday makers and office workers. The unique textured surface improves dirt removal while the added moisturisers make them gentle on your hands.”

Testers were sent a pack of Sani Hands Antibacterial Hand Wipes, each handy sized pack containing 12 wipes. The RRP is £1.20.

Sani Hands are available to buy from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose stores and further information can be found here

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, I use both. The main difference was the scent and texture.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me and my son.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I thought it was unnecessary - not 'scrubby' enough to be more effective
  • What did think about the fragrance?
I wasn't that keen, it was a bit chemical I thought
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Ok
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Good
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On a day out, including a trip to a park/woodland followed by food. I used them when we got our hands dirty playing and before we ate.
  • Would you recommend this product?
It depends on how much they cost in relation to similar products, but I probably wouldn't specifically recommend them.
Solo · 05/09/2017 09:26

Thought I'd add that Dd (10) does not like the smell at all! I had to have another sniff to make sure I had got it right and I found it still really nice! So based on the fact she doesn't like the scent, she won't even try them out. Sorry!

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

We have a antibacterial gel that we keep in the car, not sure why gel though as wipes are so much more convenient! We usually have one in the changing bag too.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Myself, and my 2.5 year old son used them.

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

I really liked the texture, it felt like my hands were actually being cleaned. My son didn't seem too keen on it though.

  • What did think about the fragrance?

It was fresh and clean, it didn't smell as medicinal as the gel we have. It was almost floral, quite pleasant.

  • What did you think about the after feel?

My hands dried quickly and smelled clean.

  • What did you think of the packaging?

It wasn't really very distinctive, it doesn't particularly stand out. I wouldn't be attracted to it over other wipes. It looks more like a cleaning product.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

They were put in the changing bag, and used in the museum cafe before eating and also after a trip to the farm.

  • Would you recommend this product?

I did enjoy the convenience of the wipes, they are easier than gel so would maybe consider buying them for the changing bag but wouldn't particularly go out of my way to buy these over other brands.

  1. Yes I use antibacterial gel occasionally when I'm out and about. I preferred the wipes to gel, they seemed a lot easier to use on kids - they didn't end up with gel dripping all over like we do with gel.
  2. Myself and my children (10, 8) used the wipes.
  3. Myself and my eldest liked the texture but the younger child thought they were a bit rough!
  4. I liked the fragrance- it seemed quite fresh to me.
  5. The after feel was better than when I use gel, I felt it wasn't as drying on the skin as gel.
  6. The packaging was pretty standard for wipes, nothing to particularly attract me to it and I found it was a bit prone to opening.
  7. We used them on a day trip to York railway museum so lots of mucky fingers.
  8. Yes I would recommend it.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, I usually use antibacterial hand gel/mousse. The wipes were different as they made hands feel really clean, were non drying and hands weren't left wet after use.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
We all used them , Me, Hubby and our 2 Children aged 2 & 4.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the texture of the wipes as they felt as though they were helping in the cleaning of hands. Especially sticky, mucky children's hands!!
  • What did think about the fragrance?
I didn't mind the fragrance at all, smelt clean but not overpowering.
  • What did you think about the after feel? Liked the after feel. Hands genuinely felt well cleaned. They didn't dry skin out or leave a residue.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Handy packaging, perfect for in your handbag or pocket. Sealed well after use.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We used them in the park at picnic time, after trips in supermarket trollies and after picking up after the dog. Mostly if we were out and about prior to eating if there were no toilet facilities nearby.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Highly recommend this product. I've already bought a few more packs for my handbag as you just never know when you might need them.
Goldiefawn · 05/09/2017 17:50
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
We use hand gels when out and about. I preferred the wipes to gels as they didn't smell as strong and did not dry my skin out as much.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, husband and children. Plus a friend asked to use one when we were out at an open air cinema and about to eat some food!
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the double sided aspect - the coarse side felt like it was effective at cleaning.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
It was nice and not too overpowering.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Good - didn't dry out my skin like the gels.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Good - easy to reveal and the packet didn't rip open losing the seal like some packets of wipes do.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Out and about before food when we couldn't wash our hands.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes definitely.
chocolatespiders · 05/09/2017 18:38
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? Yes I use hand gel everyday, tends to drip everywhere as I use too much. Wipes were easier to handle and hands felt cleaner.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? Myself and two daughters
  • What did you think of the texture of the product? Loved it as it really felt it was cleaning and exfoliating!
  • What did think about the fragrance? Really nice fragrance
  • What did you think about the after feel? Hands felt really nice and clean and not sticky at all.
  • What did you think of the packaging? Liked the pack and it was easy to get into.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? Day out in London and trip to the park.
  • Would you recommend this product? Absolutely I loved them!
Raisingbabylg · 05/09/2017 19:50
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? I use gel. It was nice to use a wipe to see dirt removed.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? Myself, my husband and my toddler
  • What did you think of the texture of the product? It was almost a bit too rough. My two year old refused the wipe after the initial feel as she did not like the roughness.
  • What did think about the fragrance? The fragrance was fine. I love my gel because it smell very clinical so I'd like a stronger smell on the wipes.
  • What did you think about the after feel? My hands felt sticky. My two year old asked to wash her hands as "sticky" after.
  • What did you think of the packaging? The packaging was okay. It looks like something I would find in Halfords or the car section of a supermarket.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? At home, at school, outside.
  • Would you recommend this product? I would but probably as something to keep in the car or a workroom. Because of the roughness, they are great for grease/heavy dirt. Not necessarily ideal for little hands.
Ladylucky99 · 06/09/2017 19:04
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? Yes I have been using wipes and gels for a long time, especially more since the children were born. This were different in the texture of the wipes.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? Myself, two toddlers and husband used them
  • What did you think of the texture of the product? I thought it was brilliant for tough marks on hands but I did catch my nails on the wipe and so did my son. Not very good if you have a jagged nail or gel/acrylic nails.
  • What did think about the fragrance? Yes a good smell, clean and of anti bacterial scent
  • What did you think about the after feel? Yes clean and slightly moisturised
  • What did you think of the packaging? Simple, clinical
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? Used at home, out and about in the nappy bag
  • Would you recommend this product? Yes I would. I think they are a reasonable price. I couldn't use them on myself because of my gel nails which the wipes kept getting caught on but fine for the kids and husband
PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 07/09/2017 01:07
  1. Yep currently use antibag gel/spray. But not if there is a sink or water available. I still use a water bottle and wash my hands with that if really grubby. Im not sure how effective all these gels are despite what they claim.
  1. Me and 2 DC tried the wipes
  2. Loved the rough texture!! This is the best bit. It makes you feel as if you have actually done something when you cant actually wash your hands, so psychologically its good!
  3. Fragrance is mild. Smells like dettol and all the other gels/wipe types. Pleasant.
  4. Great actually. Not sticky dried quickly and best of all did not feel like there was some sort of residue left, which i despise.
  5. Packaging normal. Clever use of the red cross. Tells you clearly what is in the packet. I would however really like to know what bugs it does and does not kill off.
  6. Used at the supermarket after a trip there. Does remove a surprising amount lf dirt. And on a day out to a local attraction.
  7. Yes i would. However the wipes in my opinion are slightly too small and price point wise i would pick it up if it was £1. But at £1.20 i wouldnt. So that perhaps is something to look at.
Lyn29 · 07/09/2017 10:18
  1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

I used them on a day out to Brighton seaside and when I returned to work in the primary school that I work in.

  1. What did you think of the packaging?

I thought the packaging was really compact and loved that it fitted perfectly in my hand bag.Liked the resealable lid and that it didn't lose its stick.

  1. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?

I loved the fragrance and the size of the wipes. They kept there moisture and one wipe went a long way. My daughter didn't like the texture when I used the rough side on her hands and asked me to only use the soft side as she didn't like the feeling. I did like the rough side as it made my skin feel very clean and had great dirt removal. The fragrance was strong but not "giving me a headache" strong.

  1. Do you think you’d you buy them again?
I would defiantly buy them again as love having them to rely on after I finish my shift at work with the young children.
  1. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!
After work, after being on public transport, after being in soft play etc
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?

Would defiantly recommend them to other parents and teachers

Thanks for choosing us to test them!!!!

Lyn29 · 07/09/2017 10:22

Sorry I forgot to add that myself, partner and dd used the wipes and we don't normally use any antibacterial wipes/sprays on ourselves only usually to clean the home.

annieno1 · 07/09/2017 13:24

tuppencenonethericher · 07/09/2017 13:47
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, I use both already depending on the situation. These were textured/rough which I think is for better cleaning.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me and my 11 month old
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
One side was very textured. It didn't bother me either way but I'm now wishing I'd done a side by side comparison with my usual brand as I wonder if these would get mud off my hands better/quicker than my others.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Pretty standard antibacterial scent, like most gels etc.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
I was generally busy on the go so didn't notice to be honest, but if I didn't notice then I'm sure it was fine!
  • What did you think of the packaging?
There's nothing wrong with it. If they were sold in bigger packs (like baby wipes) I would want a plastic clip lid, but the resealable tape is fine for 12 wipes.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
I used them on shopping trolleys my baby was in (read: licking), on my hands when I was muddy and needed to pass my baby something (muddy from horses, outdoor exercise classes, etc) and also to clean my baby's hands if she's slimy with banana or has been touching something filthy. When I've finished using the wipe, I usually use any last little bit to clean the pram handles before binning it.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, I would. It's more expensive than my usual so I'll probably only buy it on offer, but I definitely would buy it.
ShortyShortLegs · 07/09/2017 15:51

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, baby wipes and antibac gel- these were different because they were far easier to use and carry than two products plus they seem more likely to clean and sanitise properly with the textured surface. also, gel is very drying and aggravates my daughter's eczema.
Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, my three teenage kids and my mum.
What did you think of the texture of the product?
Lovely, textured enough to get grubby hands really clean, but not enough to be scratchy. Also, I liked using them to wipe public tables, etc. before eating. They's be great for doing high chairs in cafes!
What did think about the fragrance?
Very pleasant.
What did you think about the after feel?
Lovely, refreshed, clean, no sticky residue, no fluffy bits caught in my rings! Not at all drying even on those of us with sensitive skin.
What did you think of the packaging?
Great, attractive, clear and easy to read, sticky on flap was great, held in place even after being opened several times.
Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At an outdoor ice-cream parlour, at a horse stables open day, on a train journey.
Would you recommend this product?
Absolutely! And I will be buying more - we all loved them, my teens weren't as embarrassed by 'mum getting the baby wipes out', my mum got ice-cream on her skirt and told me to say how impressed she was by the wipes getting the stain out, plus, she found the textured side great for getting dog hairs off clothing Grin Blush
I'd like the option to but a bigger pack too, when you are a family of six, 12 wipes doesn't go far, but the small pack is great for handbags.
Thanks for letting us try the wipes!

Karanew · 07/09/2017 17:22
  1. I used the wipes when out at the farm and a playcentre with my daughter
  2. The packet was a good size and easy to reseal so they didn't dry out which is great. Not keen on the colour and design of packet looked a bit like floor wipes etc.
  3. The size and fragrance were perfect for me. They weren't too tough on my daughters hands
  4. Yes perfect to keep in my bag and car
5.the travel pack is great for days out and on holiday and I put them in my daughters nursery bag too 6.yes I would recommend to other parents a great produxt

Yes I would. It would obviously depend on the price but I would pick them up as an impulse buy at a checkout.

We used them on trips to the cafe, park and a toddler group before snack time.

Great, nice size that fit in my bag easily and not too heavy. Design was fine and seemed appropriate to the product.

Yes Definitely, much preferred to gel as it was a lot easier to use in my youngest and had the benefit of cleaning the hands as well as killing germs.

When we are out and go somewhere to eat or on the park before and ice cream.
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Yes I would happily recommend.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? I use gel - these felt more thorough but felt they wouldn't last long if only 12 in a pack.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? Me and my children
  • What did you think of the texture of the product? It was quite rough - I quite liked that but my kids found it a bit sore.

  • What did you think of the packaging? The packaging was convenient and easy to use - it resealed well.
