This is the feedback thread for the MN testers who are trying out Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes this summer.

Sani Hands say “with increased public awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and the transfer of germs, people now more than ever want to minimise the risk of picking up germs and bacteria. Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes kill 99.99% of bacteria and germs in seconds, and keep hands protected for up to 6 hours. With 80% of communicable diseases transferred by touch, most bacteria on our hands is on the fingertips and under our nails. Sani Hands anti-bacterial wipes are proven to be the most effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water.

They are perfect for busy days with the children, and are also popular with commuters, holiday makers and office workers. The unique textured surface improves dirt removal while the added moisturisers make them gentle on your hands.”

Testers were sent a pack of Sani Hands Antibacterial Hand Wipes, each handy sized pack containing 12 wipes. The RRP is £1.20.

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I usually use hand gel. The wipes where different as they are bumpy on one side so I felt as if they left my hands cleaner, also they didn't leave a sticky residue like the gels do.

Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, DH and DC

What did you think of the texture of the product?
I especially liked the bumpy texture and felt they left my hands cleaner.

What did think about the fragrance?
Smelled OK, although it reminded me of the small packets of wipes in KFC.

What did you think about the after feel?
I liked that there was no sticky residue

What did you think of the packaging?
Packaging was small enough to fit in my bag and clearly labelled.

Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At home and when out. I also used them to wipe down the baby changing table in public toilets and picnic bench.

Would you recommend this product?
Yes.

  1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti Bacterial hand wipes?
I tried the wipes in several different situations and on different occasions to get a feel for how useful they would be so I used them when we were out and about at a farm, soft play centre and a shopping trip and also used them at home.
  1. Do you currently use antibacterial gels and hand wipes? How were these different?
I always carry a hand sanitiser gel in my handbag for when I'm on the go, myself and my children have very sensitive skin and as such have allergic reactions when using standard hand soap etc in bathrooms and I also find it more convenient to carry one with me to keep the children's hands germ free, I personally found these much better as not only were the wipes killing the bacteria but they were also removing the dirt (normally I would have to use a combination of baby wipes and the gel in order to be reassured that my children's hands were truly clean. 3.which members of the family used the wipes? I used them on myself, my children ages (1),(3),(10),(12) my nieces (7months) and (6) and my sister also gave them a whirl.
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
I thought the packaging itself was nice, simple and easy to distinguish, the size was great too as they fit perfectly in my handbag or nappy bag or even my sons pockets (definitely a positive given how dirty he gets) the only thing that I would maybe change would be the size of the actual wipes, when wiping the babies hands the full size of the wipe wasn't really needed (in fact when I was using them at home I cut them in half) that being said the larger size works great for wiping down toys, trolleys etc so maybe offering different sizes would be a good idea
  1. What did you think of the fragrance, texture and after feel of the wipes?
I hate strong fragrances with a passion as they tend to give me a headache so I was really pleasantly surprised when smelling the Sani Hands wipes, the overall fragrance was a clean almost fruity kind of scent. The texture was great for the older kids as it really helped give their Hands a deep clean and worked well on the more stubborn dirt, my 10year old son is autistic and normally he can't stand wiping his hands due to his sensory difficulties however with the Sani Hands he loved the feel of the little bumps (as he called them) on his hands and actually asked for them when he needed them (I'm still not 100%sure he wasn't getting them dirty on purpose), I was a little worried that they may be a little rough on the little ones Hands but the smooth side worked just as well on them without causing any discomfort. I also loved the after feel on my own hands as normally antibacterial products dry out my hands and this wasn't the case with the wipes, my hands felt lovely and soft after using them.
  1. What sort of places do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?
To be honest it could be handy for just about any situation, the pack size is perfect to carry around wherever you go and the wipes themselves are useful in pretty much any situation, I personally used them for cleaning my hands after nappy changes etc, and the kids hands before they ate, after messy play, when touching the animals at the farm and I also used them to wipe down the trolley handle when we went shopping, toys when they were dropped on the floor and wiping down the high chair in a restaurant, that being said I cut several of my wipes in half to make them last so offering a bigger pack size as an alternative would be a good idea also.
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents /buy them again?
I already have, I've recommended to friends and family both in conversations and on Facebook, I loved the wipes, I felt that they were a must buy for any busy mums, they worked well on all the children whose ages ranged from 7 months to 12 years and were great for me too. When you've got a baby who puts everything in her mouth or a son who touches EVERYTHING (if it looks gross, sticky etc you'd better believe he's going to keep touching it) knowing that these handy little wipes kill 99.99% of bacteria and last for 6 hours is a huge peace of mind for any parent, all in all a fantastic product definitely worth repurchasing!

- Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I sometimes use hand gels if I'm stuck somewhere without soap & water after changing a nappy. I'm not a fan of how they make my hands feel though. Don't tend to use them on the kids though.

- Which members of the family tested the wipes?

We all used the wipes -myself, DH, & 3DC.

- What did you think of the texture of the product?

I wasn't expecting the bumpy side but they definitely made our hands feel thoroughly clean.

- What did think about the fragrance?

I had expected a chemical smell but it was actually nice. It smelt fresh, wasn't overpowering & didn't last too long.

- What did you think about the after feel?

Unlike with gels, there wasn't a sticky after feel at all. Hands felt soft & clean.

- What did you think of the packaging?

It was handy- good, small size, easy to find in my bag & easy to get the wipes out.

- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

While away camping for the weekend, but would also use them after a sand pit, after soft play or in the park.

- Would you recommend this product?

Yep, they're really handy!

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
The rough side stood out but these wipes are far more expensive than the wipes I currently get. As for them lasting six hours I've yet to meet a child that can keep anything clean for six hours!

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, Husband and baby.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I like the rough side for high chairs, tables etc. especially in restaurants. I felt I had to be careful when using it on hands as it hurt me when I scrubbed some mud off my hand. I didn't use that side on baby after that.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
It was fine. Fresh and not overpowering.
  • What did you think about the after feel? Clean but no different to other cheaper wipes.
  • What did you think of the packaging? Good size. Clinical design.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Home, days out, restaurants.
  • Would you recommend this product?Only if on offer. I think the rrp is quite steep. They were useful for cleaning stubborn dirt on hands and especially on previously used highchairs and tables in restaurants that could have been cleaner. I would have a pack in my change bag if they were on offer but would stick to my current wipes for most uses.
Pimientos100 · 03/09/2017 11:34

Do we currently use antibacterial wipes or gel?

Yes I usually carry I mini bottle of hand sanitiser with us. My little ones are 2&5 so it can get a bit messy when they do it themselves and if I take my eye off them the younger sister can end up swimming in it! So the wipes provided a good alternative.

Which family member tested the wipes.
We all did, so myself, my husband and the two children. We happened to be going to a safari park the day after they arrived, so it was an ideal opportunity to put them to the test.

What did you think of the texture?
I was really impressed with the rough texture on one side. The blue colour helped the children identify that it was an antibacterial wipe, so not suitable for the face. The rough texture really helped with sand when we used them at the beach.

What did you think about the fragrance?
There is very little noticeable smell, and the slight scent that is there is pleasant.

What did you think about the after feel?
Hands aren't sticky afterwards and fell drier than with gel.

What did you think about the packaging?
The packaging is small and fits nicely into a handbag.

Where did you use the wipes?
Everywhere! Once they had taken up residence in my handbag, we used the, constantly! We go to a lot of places with animals so they were great, as baby wipes don't kill the bacteria.

Would you recommend this product?
Yes I would , they were great for giving you confidence on the move. My little ones insist on putting their fingers in their mouths constantly, so it was great to be able to relax, knowing that their hands were totally clean.

kennythekangaroo · 03/09/2017 17:32
  1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We used them on the beach in Cornwall, before eating.
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
Sensible size for handbag though only 12 in a pack.
  1. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?
Quite liked the smell. The texture was interesting but effective and they were big enough to do me and DD.
  1. Do you think you’d you buy them again?
Yes as great for days out.
  1. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!
When we are out and about or having picnics. Trips involving petting animals.
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Yes they were a much more effective way of cleaning than hand gel.

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I hate hand gel (the smell and the fact you're not actually removing the dirt) so use wipes - usually shops own brand. These were different because of the textured side.

Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, DH and DD.

What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the texture as it felt like you could really get the grub off. I also like to use both sides and having different textures on each side helped me remember which side had been usd..

What did think about the fragrance?
Not noticeable - so good!

What did you think about the after feel?
Just felt clean.

What did you think of the packaging?
It looks quite medical.

Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Out and about after getting grubby or before eating, also to wipe down tables.

Would you recommend this product?
Yes.

  1. We occasionally use antibacterial gels but I always loose the bottles! Never used antibacterial wipes before so these are different.
  1. I used the wipes as did my 3 year old son
  1. I didn't mind the texture but my son didn't like the feel of them as they feel quite rough so he said it felt liked scrubbing his hands
  1. I like the fragrance, it smelt like aloe Vera and smelt 'soothing'
  1. I like the fact that they weren't too wet so your hands felt dry very quickly which is much better than the gels. Unlike the gels, they also weren't sticky.
  1. The packaging looked nice and they resealed well.
  1. I mainly used the wipes after nursery as my son always likes to have a snack on the way home but often has dirty hands from picking up random sticks/leaves etc...
  1. Yes i would definitely recommend the product. I liked them much better than the gels as they didn't make my hands sticky and could eat food straight away without getting a funny taste from them!
ShoeJunkie · 03/09/2017 22:04

We have used a variety of hand wipes, broadly similar to this product.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Used by me on DS1 and DS2.

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

I liked the rougher side of the wipe which was useful to lift dirt/mess from the DCs hands.

  • What did think about the fragrance?

I liked it.

  • What did you think about the after feel?

It didn't feel sticky after, which some wipes can do.

  • What did you think of the packaging?

Handy to go in my bag. The resealable tab stayed sticky too.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

Out and about e.g. at the park and before picnics!

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes!

sleepyMe12 · 04/09/2017 09:14

I usually use hand gel but find this can be a night mare with toddlers.
I travel a lot on public transport and hate the kids touching the rails.
These wipes were perfect for giving a quick wipe after the journey with long lasting protection.
I even gave a restaurant high hair a quick wipe over before we used it.

  1. I used these wipes on public transport (buses) and out and about in town.
  1. I liked the size of the packaging great for handbags and change bags but I thought the wipes wouldn't stand out in the selves in a shop.
  1. The texture was great as was the smell. Great for being soft enough for a quick wipe around and the other side being a little rougher perfect for sticky fingers.
  1. Will definitely purchase these again.
  1. These are perfect for popping in your hand bag/ change bag or even pocket.
Great for travelling and eating out.
  1. Would definitely recommend these wipes to everyone not just parents.
Quietvoiceplease · 04/09/2017 09:33

- Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? Yes, we use antibacterial gel occasionally - mainly when we eat whilst out and there's no opportunity to wash hands, occasionally at other places such as farms or zoos when there's a chance of 'other' stuff getting onto hands. These were different in packaging but also in the sense that it felt like my hands were being cleaned rather than smeared with gel which would remove germs. They felt more of a cleaning product, which I really liked.

- Which members of the family tested the wipes? All of us: my DH, and three DDs (aged 9, 12 & 14).

- What did you think of the texture of the product? It was quite a surprise, but we liked it. It felt like it helped clean/scrub hands rather than smear dirt around a la baby wipes. I liked the two different textures, but wasn't sure if there was a right way round to use them - we 'scrubbed' and then used the other side afterwards.

- What did think about the fragrance? It felt clean, I can't say it was particularly distinct (unlike some of the gels which are a bit too strong).

- What did you think about the after feel? Good. Hands felt clean and not sticky.

- What did you think of the packaging? I liked it. It felt handy: good size for my bag, and sturdy. Seal works well. I liked it more than I thought I would.

- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? At the beach.

- Would you recommend this product? I would. I really liked it.

Realityjunkie · 04/09/2017 11:09
  1. I generally use regular wet wipes for my children. These are different for their anti-bacterial strength and texture.
  1. My husband and two year old son as well as myself.
  1. I thought the texture was the most unique and useful aspect of the product.
  1. The fragrance was stronger than I generally like in a product.
  1. I did notice an after feel which was good.
  1. The packaging was secure. My two year old could not open it on his own.
  1. We were out at a park where hands were very dirty.
  1. I definitely recommend the product. I have a small baby so these will be useful to ensure my older son does not pass on too many germs.
NurseKeegan · 04/09/2017 12:51

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I used to use the tiny antibacterial gels but Pippa got hold of one and tried to drink it so we scrapped that. We hadn't tried any of the antibacterial wipes prior to testing these.

Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Myself and my 18 month old daughter.

What did you think of the texture of the product?

Really effective! Felt that you were really ensuring all dirt was removed.

What did think about the fragrance?

Inoffensive.

What did you think about the after feel?

I always felt that my hands were clean and therefore I was always reassured that my daughter's hands were clean.

What did you think of the packaging?

I'm not sure they are packaged in a way that they would stand out to me in a shop but they are definitely fit for purpose and very handy to pop in the changing bag!

Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

I kept them in my changing bag so I used them everywhere they were needed. Especially after a trip to the park and farm!!

Would you recommend this product?

Absolutely. I'll certainly be buying them again.

Bringmewineandcake · 04/09/2017 13:10

We are big fans of antibacterial wipes, antibacterial cleansing gels and also any antibacterial spray's and wipes in the house! I usually use the Dettol brand for household and for facial wipes I haven't really got a brand I go to but I do always carry a small travel size pack when we go on aeroplanes. It's fair to say we are pretty experienced in these types of products! The main difference with these wipes were the different textures on each side as well as the wetness, which we found better than our normal wipes.

We all tested these wipes, myself and three kids plus husband. I think my mum used one too!

I personally did not like the rough side but it was useful for surface cleaning of any dried on stains which unfortunately you find many on the plane! The smooth side was fine and as we were mainly using these on hands I would always use this offside, although the kids did try both sides... then agreed with me that it was too rough.

It smelt quite nice afterwards and felt normal. When they were used on a surface it got a bit too wet - unless it was used a bit on something else.

Packaging seem very similar to other wipes and a functional, nice and slim, with a good seal to keep them wet - not that they needed to be kept that wet!!

We did mainly use them on our hands and faces but also on surfaces in the car (and kitchen once too - on granite it isn't too great!)

I don't see any reason not to recommend these wipes as they are in the same price ranges as the wipes I have bought before. I wouldn't necessarily rave about them more than any other wipes though.

  1. We used gel when out and about - after nappy changes and before eating if we can't wash our hands. These are great as they really scrub the dirt off as well as get rid of the germs.
  1. I used them on a 3.5 year old and his friends and used them myself.
  1. The texture was great. The raised bumps helped scrub the dirt and the were tough.
  1. The fragrance was pleasant and subtle
  1. The wipes were too wet so dried quickly. Hands felt clean and fresh.
  1. The pack was a handy size which fitted well in a handbag. It resealed well. The design isn't particularly appealing but its fine and explains clearly what you get in the pack.
  1. I tend to let the kids get as mucky as they want and just make sure everyone cleans up before eating so we used these before picnics and snacks out and about. They were also handy after alfresco nappy changes.
  1. I would recommend this product and would definitely buy it again.
