This is the feedback thread for the MN testers who are trying out Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes this summer.

Sani Hands say “with increased public awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and the transfer of germs, people now more than ever want to minimise the risk of picking up germs and bacteria. Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes kill 99.99% of bacteria and germs in seconds, and keep hands protected for up to 6 hours. With 80% of communicable diseases transferred by touch, most bacteria on our hands is on the fingertips and under our nails. Sani Hands anti-bacterial wipes are proven to be the most effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water.

They are perfect for busy days with the children, and are also popular with commuters, holiday makers and office workers. The unique textured surface improves dirt removal while the added moisturisers make them gentle on your hands.”

Testers were sent a pack of Sani Hands Antibacterial Hand Wipes, each handy sized pack containing 12 wipes. The RRP is £1.20.

Sani Hands are available to buy from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose stores and further information can be found here

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

  • What did you think about the after feel?
  • What did you think of the packaging?

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I have used small bottles of hand gels in the past. I think i get more from the gels than the wipes. I prefer the wipes however as I feel as if the dirt is coming off my hands.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, my partner and my 23 month old daughter.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the texture, the roughness felt as if the dirt was being lifted off.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
The fragrance was pleasant - not overpowering.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
It felt fresh afterwards - no stickiness, no residue or clammy feeling.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
The packaging was as expected.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We used the hand wipes at the beach and when out and about. i found it quite handy before giving my toddler some snacks. I usually use baby wipes, but these are far more effective for getting rid of bacteria from bus handles/seats etc. I am a bit fastidious about hand cleaning after being in public places.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, definitely. it fits nicely in a small bag and can cleans up well.

- Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I have used anti bacterial gels in the past but, haven't for a long time. I do use ordinary wipes but, not anti bac wipes. The Sani Hands have a rough textured side which really cleans your hands; they smell pleasant which isn't always the case with any kind of wipe and gels often leave you with dry skin; they cause Dd's hands to crack so I can't wait to try them on her.

- Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Just me so far (Dd is at her grandma's).

- What did you think of the texture of the product?
I was surprised to like them; I liked that my hands felt cleaned as opposed to just wiped.

- What did think about the fragrance?
Very pleasant scent but, I have no idea what they actually smell of. They don't smell of alcohol or heavily scented flowery smells, just right imho.

- What did you think about the after feel?
My hands felt damp for a while but, once dry (not more than 30 seconds at a guess) my hands felt soft and moisturised.

- What did you think of the packaging?
Okay to use. Very similar to other wipes packaging.

- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At work. Thought they'd be good to try in the office before eating lunch.

- Would you recommend this product?
Yes I think I would; although they seem expensive, they left my hands feeling clean, soft and pleasantly scented and I know these points are important to some people in the busy but, germ filled days ~ especially with children in tow.

Thanks for letting me try these. I doubt I would have bought them just to try but, I would definitely not pass them by now.

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use the gel at work and our and about when you can't access washroom facilities. Big difference for me was the actual wipe rather than gel as you have to dispose of a wipe

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Just me..little girl wouldn't entertain use as she uses magic stuff that disappears if we find a toilet with no soap or if she refuses because she's a 2 year old!
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
The texture was fine felt like it was cleaning hands.
  • What did think about the fragrance?Inoffensive to me
  • What did you think about the after feel? On a par with gels no residue after drying.
  • What did you think of the packaging? It's a bit bright but then handy to find. Bit basic in design
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We had a day out on public train to a forest and local city pub chain. Used on train and pub and forest.
  • Would you recommend this product?I prefer the size of mini gels but could see benefit for little ones who are used to being hand cleaned with soles. Imagine it could help in an emergency situation and a wipe then becomes a personal preference.
Thanks for the opportunity to test an alternative.

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

Yes we do. Normally I carry a small bottle with me. However they can occasionally leak in my bag, very annoying! This handy pack was much nicer to use!

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Myself, my partner and our ever sticky 6 year old DD

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

Very nice. Not as sticky as the gel so better for the small one

  • What did think about the fragrance?

Very unobtrusive. Which is good as my DP has a strong sense of smell and dislikes overly perfumed products

  • What did you think about the after feel?

Brilliant. Felt very clean after using them

  • What did you think of the packaging?

Much better than Bottles which, as I've said, can leak. A nice size for a day out.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

On a trip to a theme park. Great for use after lunch!

  • Would you recommend this product?

Definitely. They're a brilliant idea. I won't be without a pack in my bag now.

SillyMoomin · 01/09/2017 08:07
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

Yes, always have a packet in the bottom of a bag, in the car etc. Never know when you'll need one.
They were the same as other wipes- handy, easy to use and about the same price

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself and the dc
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Good, scrubbed of a patch of tyre oil off my hand with it and it didn't disintergrate which was a bonus!
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Subtle, "clean" smelling
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Didn't leave a greasy residue which some other brands can
  • What did you think of the packaging?
A bit clinical. It made it look like something you'd been prescribed when you left hospital
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
All over. In the car after checking the tyres. In a supermarket when the dc wanted to eat something after shopping and they'd been touching doors etc all morning
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes I would
littlewhitething · 01/09/2017 09:06

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I have used gel in the past but found it more often leaked in my bag than stayed ready for use!

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Both myself and OH tested them
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Smooth one side, rough the other; they worked perfectly
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Actually, I seem to be in the minority. I didn't like it!
  • What did you think about the after feel?
This was fine, not greasy or slippery
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Robust, easy to open and reseal. Could find them easily too - even in the mess that is my bag
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
I used one at home after emptying the kittens' litter tray, two after a diabolical bus journey with my wheelchair, one before eating at a pub as the disabled loo was shut, one after gardening and still have the rest left.
  • Would you recommend this product?
It would depend on the price, but generally speaking, yes.
haveacupoftea · 01/09/2017 10:27
  1. Used them when out and about with my baby at supermarket etc
  1. I think the packaging was dated. Reminded me of screen wipes or something.
  1. Fragrance was a bit chemically but I suppose that is reassuring that it is actually killing bacteria. The wipes are slightly rough but again same sort of idea. The smell and texture certainly wouldn't inspire me to use them on my baby. I would say they're more for adult use only. Size was fine.
  1. I would buy again because I use hand gel in my work visiting family homes and a wipe like this would be good for a discreet freshen up afterwards.
  1. Size fits well into the handbag and as I say I would probably use them for work.
  1. I'd be more likely to recommend to pregnant mums as it's important to keep you hands clean when pregnant. I don't think I'd tell other mums to use these wipes on their kids- they don't scream 'child friendly' to be honest.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? No
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? Myself
  • What did you think of the texture of the product? Gritty I think is the right word, but not too moistened so just right
  • What did think about the fragrance? Smells like chemicals but not over powering
  • What did you think about the after feel? Made my hands quite dry, I also used the corse side on the high chair, not very good at getting food off
  • What did you think of the packaging? Bright and easy to read what the use is for
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? High chair and my hands
  • Would you recommend this product? No

  1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We Used them on our day out to a theme park.
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
The Packaging is a great size. Fitted great in the baby bag or in the hood of the pram.
  1. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?
Fragrance has a nice, clean smell. It's not strong and is quite pleasant. Texture I don't like. Felt too rough. My son didn't like the feel when using them and I feel they could be too harsh for my 2 year olds hands. Size is adequate though.
  1. Do you think you’d you buy them again?
Probably not. I like a wipe that is suitable for the whole family and the texture stops me from using them on my children.
  1. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!
Before and after our picnic, when kids had come from the adventure playground and in general when we felt we'd touched or handled something a bit grubby.
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Yes in terms of great at doing its job and scent but no in regards to texture. My kids didn't like the texture but others might.

  1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
I had them in my bag for a number of day trips - park, theme park, cinema, farm etc
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
Handy size. Wasnt sure I liked the packaging design - looked a bit too clinical/not friendly
  1. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?
Loved the fragrance as it felt clean. The texture was strange at first as I'm used to wipes being soft but they felt like they were cleaning your hands really well - good before eating on a day out. The size was good too. Small package but handy sized wipe.
  1. Do you think you’d you buy them again?
Yes I probably would
  1. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!
When we are out & about especially if we have a picnic. Good for cleaning hands properly before eating
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Yes definitely!

Thank you

Me, my husband and two sons
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the textured side, it helped remove dirt from hands and was good for removing sand

I liked the fragrance, it wasn't too "chemically" and was pleasant and fresh

My hands felt fine, fresh clean and not sticky
  • What did you think of the packaging?
The packaging was fine, it would be good to have a multi pack too
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At the beach and I kept them in my bag when we were on days out over the summer
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, they are a handy product to keep in your bag
SuzCG · 01/09/2017 16:35

Thanks for the chance to test.

I always carry wipes (but not anti-bac) and anti-bac hand gel in my bag. I liked that these combined the two for me.
I tested them with my two children 11 & 8.
Actually liked the texture, the side with a little bit of rough on it I thought meant I could scrub any hardened dirty bits off better.
Fragrance, couldn't pin point exactly - just felt it smelled clean.
Nice after feel - no sticky residue which I sometimes feel we get with certain gels.
Handy sized packaging and the re=seal worked well, so I could tuck them back into my bag. They have stayed wet for next use.
We used when we were out & about for a day, had been playing in the park and then went to grab a sandwich in the cafe. All had a good clean up before we ate and I even used it to give our table a quick wipe before we started!
Definitely recommend - I have already bought another pack in Tesco too.

Thanks again, great little product!

Blahblahblueblee · 01/09/2017 18:16

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use anti bacterial gel regularly, gel has more uses, isn't for cleaning hands in the same way as a wipe but has more uses.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me my 3 children and my nieces.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
It wasn't what I expected, I thought it was going to be more like a wet wipe.! I liked the texture!
  • What did think about the fragrance?
I liked the fragrance, it was fresh.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
It felt very clean and it dried quickly.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
It was a good size, although I'd prefer more than 12. The packaging was clear.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Out at the park
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes they were very good, although I'm not sure I'd swap buying gel for these as gel can be used more times, and there is no rubbish with gel.
Alexandra87 · 01/09/2017 19:16
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
No we tend to just use baby wipes for a quick clean up when out and about
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me, my husband, and my 3 sons ages 7,6 and 2
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
The boys thought the textured side was a bit too rough
  • What did think about the fragrance?

I found it ok. I was expecting them to smell like a household cleaning product but they didn't

  • What did you think about the after feel?
They left me feeling nice and fresh
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Packaging was perfect. Just the right size to keep in my handbag so they were always handy and they resealed well so stayed moist
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We took the wipes with us when we went camping
  • Would you recommend this product?
I would recommend the product. They were handy for when the kids had been playing in god knows what mud and for times when toilet facilities left a lot to be desired. I would use them alongside the baby wipes we use now rather than instead of as I found thy didn't clean stick fingers quite as well.
nonnygirl · 01/09/2017 19:23

Thanks for choosing me!

  1. I currently use hand wipes at home and gel at work.
  2. Myself ,DH and DS tested the wipes.
  3. I loved the rough side - it left my hands feeling really clean.
It even cleaned my shoe !
  1. I found the smell really pleasant and made me think my hands were clean and fresh .
5.The wipes didn't leave a residue as some wipes can . The smooth side felt nice just for a general clean before food . 6.I think the packaging looks quite medical . They have managed to put plenty of info on the front . The size is just right for keeping in an handbag or keeping in the car. 7.I kept the wipes in my handbag whilst we went out for a day trip and also whilst out shopping- I usually keep wipes in my bag as you never know when you might need them. I am also going to purchase some of these to use at work instead of gel. I work in a school and some students don't like using gel as it can be too runny and leave a residue. 8.I would definitely recommend the wipes - they have been really useful and the rough side really is a good bonus

  • What did think about the fragrance? Nice clean fragrance

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I have gel in my changing bag. I prefer the wipes as it feels cleaner to rub your hands with something.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Me and my DH

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

Really liked it. The textured side really felt like you were giving your hands a good scrub.

  • What did think about the fragrance?

Nice and fresh cucumber smell. I don't like the chemical smell of most gels.

  • What did you think about the after feel?
My hands felt soft and clean afterwards. Worried the textured bit might leave my hands dry but it didn't at all.
  • What did you think of the packaging?

A little non-descript really. I don't think this would particularly stand out on a shelf full of similar products.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

After nappy changes at home and out and about

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes. Made a pleasant change to chemically smelling gels.

RubaDubMum89 · 01/09/2017 22:56
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

We use gel normaly, however, these wipes were much more practical! With the gel, it takes a good while to rub it in and for it to dry whereas with the wipes you have a wipe round your hands, quick shake and you're good to go again. Also much better for our 9month old!

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

My partner, my daughter and myself. Both adults thought they were great, my daughter, not so much haha (although can you really trust the opinion of a baby?!).

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

I liked the fact that one side is 'rough' whilst the other is smooth. It sounds silly, but it makes them much more versatile. For example, for little ones, the smooth side is much better. Or if theres a particularly stubborn bit of mess and no soap and water around, the textured side will take it right off.

  • What did think about the fragrance?

I have to admit, I thought it was strange. . .not entirely unpleasant, just strange.

  • What did you think about the after feel?

Perfectly fine. No strange tingling and drys quickly, also, doesnt leave your hands feeling greasy.

  • What did you think of the packaging?

To be honest, I though it abit mundane, however, it's not really a product that needs vibrant 'look at me' packaging, you either need/want them or you dont.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

In the park, at a local farm, when out on a walk and at the swings (I may or may not have wiped the bar at front of the swing with one too. . . ).

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
These wipes left my hands feeling cleaner than the gel I normally use - I think that's because of the textured surface.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked it as it felt like it was cleaning my hands better
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Clean fragrance, not too overpowering.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Nice and clean.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
The packaging reminded me slightly of packaging used for cleaning wipes for household tasks...
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At work and in the car
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, I did feel cleaner than when I just use the gel

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I usually use hand gel. I did feel that these made my hands feel cleaner.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, DH and DD
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I like the texture for hands. It felt like they were getting really clean. I didnt like them on faces though.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
I liked the fragrance, fresh and clean smelling
  • What did you think about the after feel?
  • What did you think of the packaging?
I thought the packaging was very unappealing. I don't think I would bother to look at them properly if I saw them in a shop and hadn't seen them before.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We used them on the beach, sailing and for a picnic.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Although overall I liled them I probably wouldn't buy again or recommend as I want something to use on mucky faces too. So I'll probably stick to baby wipes and hand gel. Having a toddler means I already carry too much around without adding something like this. Thankyou for letting us try them
Twinkie1 · 02/09/2017 07:59
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, we use organic children sticky hand sanitiser. It's a foam, quite ££ and comes in a huge bottle.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
We all did. Me, DH, DS & DD's.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Really liked the soft side and the scrubby side. Soft for little faces and cleaning stuff too. Used them to clean a filthy table in Siena at a cafe and was asked where I'd purchased them. Answered smugly of course! They're for the chosen few 😂
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Nice fresh cucumbery.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Nice, everything dried very quickly.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
I don't think there is a perfect wipe packaging. Would like big packs with a proper hard plastic opener thingy.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? On hols in Italy. Hands, faces, tables.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes very much so. Lovely smell and texture (DD has issues with certain smells and textures and they past muster with her), I've ruined countless bags and a couple of expensive purses when alcohol gel had leaked on/in them so these are a fantastic idea.

(If I get pulled in prize draw can I just have loads of these please xxx)

  • What did you think about the after feel?
Great, hands were not sticky and didn't have a strong smell to them like most hand gels.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
packaging was great, compact and easy to open and close, great size for handbag.

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, I use Superdrug's handwipes and handgel. I prefer the handgel, but dd1 doesn't like the smell and so I get handwipes too. These were rougher than my usual handwipes.

Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me, dh and dd1(13) and dd2(11).

What did you think of the texture of the product?
Much rougher than my usual product. I found it to be more effective in removing sand though! My dds complained about the roughness. Dh didn't mind it.

What did you think about the fragrance?
I didn't mind it. DD1 preferred the usual handwipes. DD2 and dh didn't mind either.

What did you think about the after feel?
Hands dried quickly. Didn't feel sticky.

What did you think of the packaging?
Liked the packaging. Small, easy to open and reseal.

Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Used them on a day trip to the beach. Very good at removing sand. Also, used them on a woodland picnic.

Would you recommend this product?
Yes, I preferred them to my usual wipes. I usually have wipes and handgel to cover all preferences. Dd1 wasn't overkeen on the feel, but preferred them to handgel.

Myself and my daughter.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
The product was a little more rough than others but this wasn't a problem, it did the job.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Pleasant, not too strong.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Once it dried there was no after feel which is good.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Simple, informative
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On normal days out with my daughter. Park, shops etc.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, I was pleased with the product and it is a reasonable price.
