This is the feedback thread for the MN testers who are trying out Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes this summer.

Sani Hands say “with increased public awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and the transfer of germs, people now more than ever want to minimise the risk of picking up germs and bacteria. Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes kill 99.99% of bacteria and germs in seconds, and keep hands protected for up to 6 hours. With 80% of communicable diseases transferred by touch, most bacteria on our hands is on the fingertips and under our nails. Sani Hands anti-bacterial wipes are proven to be the most effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water.

They are perfect for busy days with the children, and are also popular with commuters, holiday makers and office workers. The unique textured surface improves dirt removal while the added moisturisers make them gentle on your hands.”

Testers were sent a pack of Sani Hands Antibacterial Hand Wipes, each handy sized pack containing 12 wipes. The RRP is £1.20.

Sani Hands are available to buy from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose stores and further information can be found here

  • What did you think about the after feel?
  • What did you think of the packaging?

  1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
I initially thought I would use them at work instead of my antibac hand gel but this wasn't really practical (I'm a nurse). Used them instead when out & about with the kids.
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
Nice packaging, easy to find in my bag & a good size.
  1. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?
Fragrance was good, not too strong, was surprised to find the texture was rough but I quite liked it, felt my hands got a good scrub. Size was perfectly adequate.
  1. Do you think you’d you buy them again?
Yes I probably would, handy to keep in my bag & no risk of leaking like my antibac hand gel. Would depend on price & where they were stocked.
  1. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!
When I am out and about with the kids, after using public toilets etc.
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Probably wouldn't go out my way to recommend them but if someone commented on them when I was using them I would say they are handy to have.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I use the gels. These were different as you could actually clean muck off your hands as well as sanitising them. I felt bad about using them as they add to landfill but they did the job when you needed to clean muck off.

Mum, dad, toddler and baby

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

Felt good for cleansing

Felt clean

  • What did you think of the packaging?

Suitable for the product

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

Out and about on bank holiday weekend.

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes it's a good product to have in the changing bag, handbag or car

PointlessIgnoredWasteOfTime · 31/08/2017 09:39

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes I use the gel, these are very different feels less 'chemically '

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
My children and I
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
The spotty side was a strange texture on skin.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Was a nice fragrance not too strong
  • What did you think about the after feel? Dried alot quicker than the gel but left our skin feeling less dry/rough
  • What did you think of the packaging?
It was handy buy once peeled the sticky tab collected bits from inside my bag causing the sticky tan not to close/stick.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We are using them on a camping holiday so they have been put through their paces.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes but the sticky tab needs to be more resilient but other than that product itself is good, does the job, doesn't tear so all round a good sani hand wipe.
Belmo · 31/08/2017 10:05
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I sometimes use hand gel - I do try not to over-sanitize but like to have it incase kids touch something especially gross 🙄 or if we're somewhere especially germy like the drs. Also I work in a care setting and whilst obviously I wash my hands, I like to have gel on me as well. It really dries my skin though so these wipes were better for that, and also much better at getting actual dirt off kids hands!

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Myself and dcs, age 5 and 1

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

Really odd, at first I didn't like it but actually it did a great job (particularly on very muddy hands!)

  • What did think about the fragrance?

Fine - didn't love it but inoffensive

  • What did you think about the after feel?

Didn't notice one really

  • What did you think of the packaging?

Fine. Like the size - perfect for handbags

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

Out at the park with the dc to clean filthy hands before snack.
At work - I work in a care setting.
I would also use if we'd been to the doctors etc.

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes I would, and actually think I'll buy again.

NerrSnerr · 31/08/2017 10:08

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use gel at work but don't use hand wipes or gel at home. The wipes were different to gel because they had the scrubby bits that get grime off.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Our three year old daughter and me,
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Really good, got dirt off. She said they were 'sharp' so had to scrub gently but that still got everything off.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Not intrusive so fine.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Hands felt lovely and clean
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Explained product, not too bulky.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Park and home after painting.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, really liked the product.

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes, great for cleaning and killing bacteria without stinging

Treezees · 31/08/2017 10:57

Don't currently use any antibac wipes - only wet wipes. We used them when we went to a farm park with my 2 year old and we all used them. Texture was great for getting off. Nice to have both sides. My daughter didn't mind the scratchiness. Fragrance and feeling afterwards both fine... Didn't really notice tbh which I think is a good thing! Packaging good... Nice and small so doesn't take up too much space in nappy bag. Good colour! As we were at farm park really great between hand washes. I would recommend!

BrioLover · 31/08/2017 12:36
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Using a gel before - the wipes feel a bit more wasteful tbh, but don't leave much residue.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
I did with DS (4).
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Nice! Not scratchy at all.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Not overpowering, pleasant.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
It dried my hands a bit but DS didn't notice anything for his hands.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Easy to find in my bag so that's good.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
In the park and woods.
  • Would you recommend this product?

Good scrubby but not harsh

  • What did think about the fragrance?

I prefer stronger fragrance but wouldn't stop me buying

No problems - dries fast

  • What did you think of the packaging?

Fairly unremarkable

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

After changing my babies nappy while out and about

  • Would you recommend this product?

Yes defs

HappylandToysEverywhere · 31/08/2017 13:53

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

Until these wipes were sent to us to test, we used the Gel. These were so different in that they were not only easier to use on my toddler 's hands, but easier & much more pleasant to use on mine too! They also didn't leave our hands feeling wet.
*
*
- Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Myself & my 2yr old daughter.

- What did you think of the texture of the product?

I really liked the double sided texture of the wipes. The fact that one side had a slightly rougher texture was great for cleaning chocolate & other substances from my toddler's little hands! The other side is lovely and soft for quick wipes before eating etc.
*
*
- What did think about the fragrance?

The fragrance was perfectly balanced in my opinion. They didn't smell strongly of alcohol they just had a mild clean & fresh scent.

- What did you think about the after feel?

The after feel is what really sold them to me. Unlike gels, our hands didn't feel too wet and like we had to keep rubbing for ten minutes afterwards. This is something that puts me off using gels, as they make my skin dry. These wipes absorbed immediately and left my skin feeling simply soft & clean.

- What did you think of the packaging?

Packaging is a nice size. Not too big, fits nicely in changing bag or hand bag or even the kitchen drawer/bathroom cabinet.

- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

Soft Play Centre/Cafès/Restaurants/Friends & family's homes/in the car & at home!

- Would you recommend this product?

Absolutely yes! Without a doubt and will be purchasing these myself. Thanks for allowing us to try them Smile

nornironlady · 31/08/2017 14:36

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I have never been a buyer of wipes or gels, I have tried gels but don't like them.
Which members of the family tested the wipes? Myself and my toddler son. I also gave the rest of the packet to a work colleague for the office, she loves to clean!
What did you think of the texture of the product?
Noticed the rougher side right away and really liked this as did my friend, good for scrubbing mud and non washable paint came right off.
What did think about the fragrance?
Surprisingly fresh and pleasant.
What did you think about the after feel?
Better than a baby wipe.
What did you think of the packaging?
It did remind me of a more general household wipe maybe for the bathroom but fitting for the product.
Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? At home and office, great for toddler messes and hands after general office surface contact.
Would you recommend this product? Maybe, I'm not normally a user/purchaser of this type of product.

Vonklump · 31/08/2017 15:07

Thanks for the product.
I currently use gel.
I tested them on myself and my toddler.
I liked the texture, including the bobbles.
The fragrance was clinical, which was fine.
The afterfeel was clean and without residue.
Packaging was compact.
I used them outside. I'd planned to use them on a day trip but they arrived too late.
I prefer gel as there's nothing to dispose of, but they were handy, so I probably would.

LeninaCrowne · 31/08/2017 15:57

Tester

  1. Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If so how were these different?
Use antibacterial gel from a bottle. The Sani Hands wipes were different in that one didn't get that clammy feel you get from gel.
  1. Which members of the family tested the wipes?
I and my DD tested them.
  1. What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the 2-sided texture - smooth on one side and slightly grainy on the other.
  1. What did you think of the fragrance?
The fragrance was mild and inoffensive.
  1. What did you think of the after feel?
I liked the after feel after using the grainy side to clean my hands.
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
Good size, fit in my jeans pocket. The pack re-sealed well after using so feel that they wipes would not dry out before the pack is finished.
  1. Where did you use the Sani Hans Anti-bacterial wipes?
Out dog walking and picking blackberries, and out and about on the sunny bank holiday weekend.
  1. Would you recommend this product?
Yes, to keep in my pocket for dog walking, being out and about when you want to clean your hands but can't get to a sink, or for my DD to put in her bag.
EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 31/08/2017 16:08

I have to add: DM also tested the wipes, loved the smell, which she described as cucumbery, and loved the texture, which she said exfoliates.

starlingsintheslipstream · 31/08/2017 16:24

Tester

1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

We went away for the weekend so I slung them in my bag for travelling and visiting the beach.

2. What did you think of the packaging?

Good size. Easy to find in my bag. They were also easy to open and use.

3. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?

I quite liked the Aloe Vera scent. Quite fresh and not too overpowering. The size was just right and, while I didn't find a great need for the textured side, can imagine that it would be better at dirt removal.

4. Do you think you’d you buy them again?

Yes, at the right price.

5. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?

Just slipping in a handbag really as the packet is much smaller than baby wipes. I'd use them in much the same way - I don't have babies anymore so it's generally wiping mucky faces and hands. At the beach ds1 got a cut leg so it was reassuring (for him rather than for me) to be able to mop up the blood with something anti-bacterial.

6. Would you recommend them to other parents?

Yes, again, at the right price.

Thanks for the chance to test them.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 31/08/2017 16:53

- Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I occasionally use hand gel but I'm not the biggest fan of it as I dislike the smell and afterfeeling of the gels. These wipes are completely different. They had a pleasant, non alcohol fragrance and didn't leave my hands feeling dryed out or sting.

- Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Myself, my 7 year old daughter and my mum.

- What did you think of the texture of the product?

I loved the bumpy textured side. It really helps the feeling that you are cleaning your hands properly and my skin felt really soft afterwards. I was pleasantly surprised the wipes had a textured side as I wasn't expecting it at all.

- What did think about the fragrance?

Nice and clean smelling. Not unpleasant or alcohol smelling like the gels.

- What did you think about the after feel?

Really nice. My hands dried quickly and didn't feel sticky. My skin felt exfoliated and soft but not dried out.

- What did you think of the packaging?

Nice enough. Not exciting or eye catching. I would easily mistake them for surface cleansing wipes at first glance. I was concerned the sticky tab would not stay sticky for long and the wetness of the product would leak onto other items in my bag (as frequently happenes with baby wipe packets). This was not the case however and the tab has remained strong and sticky so far.

- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

After my morning commute to work (sticky, germ ridden bus poles). We also used them at the park before we ate lunch. My daughter used one after playing with my mums dog and getting her hands all hairy and dog smelling. My mum used one after picking up dog poo (with a bag). We also used them at the stables after grooming the horses and before eating.

- Would you recommend this product?

Absolutely. It's a great alternative to gels. The price is good, 12 wipes should last me around a week, maybe a bit longer so not expensive. I have sensitive skin and they did not irritate me. My hands felt really clean afterwards. I have nothing bad to say about this product at all.

starlingsintheslipstream · 31/08/2017 17:04

Sorry, I have realised that I'd c&p'd from an earlier post and had missed out some of the questions:

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

No don't currently use - normally just plump for cheap and cheerful baby wipes.

Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Me and the kids

What did you think about the after feel?

Fine, not sticky or a lingering scent.

I've also seen that the RRP is £1.20 which seems quite steep. I'd look out for them on offer I think.

MonkeysStoleMyBanana · 31/08/2017 19:55

- Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Have always used the small bottles of anti-bac hand gel. The wipes were just as convenient but far less messy and didn't leave a strong residue / after taste on hands unlike the gels.

- Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, toddler and husband.

- What did you think of the texture of the product?
Fine. Found the textured side really good for removing dirt from between fingers (and pub table tops!) but my husband complained that the rough side gave him "tickly funny fingers!"

- What did think about the fragrance?
Inoffensive fragrance, nice and light and not chemically in any way.

- What did you think about the after feel?
Great, not greasy or tacky. And they didn't leave a nasty after taste unlike the anti-bac hand gels.

- What did you think of the packaging?
Nice shape and size, but didn't think it would stand out much on a supermarket shelf with similar products.

- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
When we went out for lunch in a restaurant.

- Would you recommend this product?
Yes, as long as the price was reasonable.

HappyGirl86 · 31/08/2017 19:56

Thanks for letting me try the wipes.

  • Yes I do currently use antibacterial gels regularly. I found that the wipes are not as messy when out and about. It's easy to drip the gel onto clothes etc
  • I tested the wipes and also on my 18 month old.
  • I liked the texture of the wipes. It was useful to have the slightly tougher side to wipe off any excess food (sticky toddler hands!!)
  • The fragrance was fine. I didn't notice anything too strong.
  • I didn't notice any particular after feel apart from my hands feeling fresh and clean.
  • the packaging is ok. Perhaps a little boring but then how exciting do you need antibacterial wipes to be I guess?! I like the fact the packaging was simple and compact.
  • I carried the wipes in my handbag so I could use them when needed. After my lunch at my desk, after lunch with my toddler when out and about. I also used the wipes for a quick wipe over my hands after using public toilets (despite washing my hands I know some people don't, so the door handles can be dirty!)
  • I would recommend this product. I think it's a great idea having the hand wipes instead of a gel. I found them more practical with a toddler than the gel. I'd be interested to see what price they will come out at.
itshappenedagain · 31/08/2017 21:25
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use antibacterial wipes when out and about, especially if we are eating. These differed as they had a firmer texture and made your hands feel like you had washed them.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself and two dc (7 and 10)
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?* Good texture helps with the clean feeling.*
  • What did think about the fragrance? Pleasant, stayed on hands after using wipes.
  • What did you think about the after feel?* Hands felt nice and clean.*
  • What did you think of the packaging?* Nice package size, easy to keep in my pocket.*
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?* At a festival and trips to the park.*
  • Would you recommend this product? Yes, as I felt the wipes worked really well.
MrsFigg · 31/08/2017 21:36

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Gels. As a nurse I have also used wipes in the past but cannot remember brand. I have used many types of hand gels.
I liked the wipes. They are convenient and child friendly. The texture of the wipe makes them different too along with the ease of having small children.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? 3 children 1-7yrs and myself.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
At first I was like eh?! Then I thought it was great. Really seemed to clean well and I liked it.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Big plus point. Also some gels taste disgusting. My 5 year old usually complains about how wet the gels are and how they taste gross. He didn't even notice these wipes. Smell nice and not too strong.

What did you think about the after feel?
I found it slightly sticky but within a few minutes dried well and my hands felt dry and clean again. Good feel.

In terms of testing as a nurse I think the texture maybe harsh on skin for everyday use. Skin cracks and damage is common and an occupational hazard. Frequent use may trigger it. However my family didn't complain where I thought they would. They didn't notice the texture was different to usual wipes.

  • What did you think of the packaging?
A bit boring to be honest. I also work in a supermarket part time and I have to say I wouldn't notice these wipes on the shelf. I think a colourful design aimed at kids would be beneficial. A unique selling point may be ideal to be aimed at babies and children. Gels and creams bother the kids especially prior to eating. It's for this reason I would buy again . We had a messy sandy beach to contend with and these wipes along with the texture wiped hands before lunch. No complaints. A gel would never have been able to get rid of sand and these are generally messy at the beach.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At the beach.
  • Would you recommend this product?
I would for parents mostly who need to clean hands. The texture is good for babies too along with no need to air the hands after use unlike with runny gels running off hands and leaving foul tastes.

Thanks for letting us test

BlooBagoo · 31/08/2017 21:48
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use gel normally, these were different as they weren't likely to leak in my bag. They were different to any other wipes we've tried in the past because of the scrubby side on them.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, DH and one of my daughters (aged 9).
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
It felt a little too rough at first feel, but was fine when used, and worked well to remove pen from my daughter's hand.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Not too different to other similar products, but not offensive at all.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Not too sticky compared to some other similar products, noticed the smell on my hands even a couple of hours after use which I wasn't expecting as I couldn't feel anything by then.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Nice, handy size for my bag but not so small I couldn't find it.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Mostly at home, but did have in my bag when we went out. Came in very handy at a pub with a sticky table and for cleaning sticky hands after ice cream.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, would consider changing the gel we're using for this product as we really liked it and would recommend to any friends needing something similar as well.
boptanana · 31/08/2017 23:04
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I have used them occasionally and found the scent quite strong these seemed kinder to skin and I liked the rough texture.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me, my do, my dads, 4 and 7.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I found it useful for removing dirt.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
It was quite subtle, I liked it.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Didn't notice it which is a good thing.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Useful
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On holiday, during days out, beach, zoos, theme parks etc.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes without a doubt.
