This is the feedback thread for the MN testers who are trying out Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes this summer.

Sani Hands say “with increased public awareness of the importance of hand hygiene and the transfer of germs, people now more than ever want to minimise the risk of picking up germs and bacteria. Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes kill 99.99% of bacteria and germs in seconds, and keep hands protected for up to 6 hours. With 80% of communicable diseases transferred by touch, most bacteria on our hands is on the fingertips and under our nails. Sani Hands anti-bacterial wipes are proven to be the most effective and hygienic alternative to soap and water.

They are perfect for busy days with the children, and are also popular with commuters, holiday makers and office workers. The unique textured surface improves dirt removal while the added moisturisers make them gentle on your hands.”

Testers were sent a pack of Sani Hands Antibacterial Hand Wipes, each handy sized pack containing 12 wipes. The RRP is £1.20.

Sani Hands are available to buy from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose stores and further information can be found here

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, we use anti-bacterial gel when out for the day before eating.
These were different as they didn't smell as strong and the rough surface felt like it was working the dirt off.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself, husband, daughter, various friends and relatives.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I really liked it, it helped our hands feel clean and the dirt removed.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Inoffensive, not too strong.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
My hands felt clean, but a little damp compared to the gels, like I needed another tissue to dry them!
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Fine - easy to use, small enough to keep in a bag.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
At a concert when there wasn't soap, On a day out with extended family before lunch On a day out with friends before we had ice cream
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes - dependant on price.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
We as a family use the hand sani gels. I found that the wipes didn't leave my hands wet/damp as long as the gel does.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Adults and kids used these on our camping weekend over the bank holiday.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I LOVED the fact that one side of the wipe was rough and one was smooth. Ideal for that ground in dirt and mud that seems to attract to any child!
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Good. Not as overpowering as some gels.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
After using the rough side as well as the smooth my hands felt soft and clean!
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Colourful and easy to find in the bottom of my bag.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On our campaign by weekend with friends.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes. Thank you for letting me test them!
MilkyMamma · 30/08/2017 10:12

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? My son (3) and I.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked it, it really felt like they were giving my hands a good clean.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Great, not too overpowering.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Really good, my hands felt super clean.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Good, I'd probably want more than 12 in a pack although the size was handy for a nappy bag.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Camping over bank holiday weekend.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Absolutely, and I'll buy them again! Thank you

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use gel, I always have a bottle on my desk at work and in my bag. These were different in that I felt like my hands had been cleaned rather than just had the bacteria terminated. However I was also left with a wipe to dispose of.

Which members of the family tested the wipes?
I used them and my two daughters used them, my husband did not try them as he is not interested in antibacterial products, he isn't as germ phobic as the rest of us.

What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked the dual textures, the smooth side and the textured side, I liked the fact that it felt like my hands were being cleaned of dirt as well as being sanitised.

What did think about the fragrance?
I didn't really notice a fragrance, it's quite bland which is a good thing as I do not like heavily scented products on my skin.

What did you think about the after feel?
My hands dried well, there was no stickiness once they had dried. I tend to have dry hands but they didn't feel dried out after using the wipes.

What did you think of the packaging?
The packaging was functional rather than attractive. I probably wouldn't notice the product in the shop. I like the fact that minimum packaging has been used.

Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
I mainly used the wipes when working out in the community, I visit people in their homes and at libraries/cafes etc as part of my job. I don't always have access to running water and soap.

Would you recommend this product?
I liked the product and was impressed with how well it worked but I didn't like the fact that I was left with a dirty wipe to dispose of, it made me feel a bit guilty about the environment. On balance I think I prefer to use gel. I would recommend them to people who preferred using wipes.
Many Thanks for the opportunity to try out the wipes.

Stujobohm · 30/08/2017 11:35

Candyperfumegirl · 30/08/2017 11:47

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

I use both. I wouldn't really say these ones were much different to any other wipes I have uses.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

Me and my three kids age 13 , 8 & 2.

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

Texture was good, I liked the added rough side, handy if hands need a bit of a scrub.

  • What did think about the fragrance?

A little generic, but not offensive. Nice, clean and fresh and not chemical like.

  • What did you think about the after feel?

Fine, no after residues or stickiness.

  • What did you think of the packaging?

Fit for purpose but a little boring - it wouldn't stand out amongst similar products. The size was good and it was small enough to fit in my handbag / changing bag.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

Out & about - at restaurants, cafes, park, play groups etc.

  • Would you recommend this product?

Sure, handy little product for whilst out and about.

Miaow1234 · 30/08/2017 12:18

We used on a shopping trip before eating.
The packaging needs to be lighter and basic. Easy to use and reclose.
Nice light smell. We loved the fact they were textured as something new and felt really clean compared to using other wipes/gels.
I would definitely choose to buy over other products now.
On day trips, after school when my daughter wants a snack, when out and about and we want to eat.
Yes I would recommend I think they are great.

abcxyz123 · 30/08/2017 12:47
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
We sometimes use hand gels but have never used hand wipes (except sometimes baby wipes in the absence of any other way of cleaning up a messy toddler)
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me, DD (5) and DS (2)
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I didn't really like the roughness of the rough side for using on smaller children.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Nice. Fresh and inoffensive.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
My hands are quite sensitive and they felt dry after using them (but this also happens after using hand gel)
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Not very inspiring, but appropriate for the product. From the colour and the cross in the logo it is clear that the product has anti-bacterial properties.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On holiday, out and about. Very useful at picnic time when there were no hand-washing facilities nearby.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Probably. I am not that keen on using antibacterial products, as I understand that handwashing with soap and water is as effective. However, when there is nowhere to wash hands, or when my toddler has got particularly grubby, these would be very handy. Good sized packet for my handbag, too.
samii1989 · 30/08/2017 12:57

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?

At thr moment i use baby wipes and sometimes antibacterial gels. However whilst they are handy, i dont think the baby wipes are very effective at all when it comes to getting rid of germs and the gels are very messy. I liked these wipes as they were very convenient and i knew they were actually getting rid of germs effectively.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?

The wipes were used on myself and my toddler at a family picnic.

  • What did you think of the texture of the product?

I did at first think they were a bit rough but actually the texture made them very effective at getting rid of stubborn dirt and mess, whereas with baby wipes i find myself having to really scrub at the skin and having to use more than one if not several.

  • What did think about the fragrance?

I loved the fragrance. They were clean amd fresh without being overpowering.

  • What did you think about the after feel?

Both mine and toddlers hands were nice and soft after using these.

  • What did you think of the packaging?

I thought the packaging was ok, nice and bright. I also liked the small little packet which was very compact and good to chuck in my bag without taking up loads of space.

  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

These were used at a family picnic

  • Would you recommend this product?

I have quite a few germ conscious mummy friends and believe they would really benefit from these handy little wipes so yes i would recomend these to them.

Fruitdrop84 · 30/08/2017 13:21
  1. I used these over the august bank holiday with my 4 kids. We had a picnic and went to a museum.
  2. Very easy to open. Great that it's resealable. Keeps the wipes moist. The packaging wasn't that appealing. The kids had to be coaxed to use them.
  3. The smell was nice. Aloe Vera. The texture was a bit rough. I didnt use them on my 5 month old. But I used them on my 4 yr old, 10 yr old and 14 yr old. The size was good.
  4. I would being 2 minds if to buy them as I would want wipes for the 6 of us and not the 5 of us.
  5. They are handy for your handbag, going out and about and travelling.
  6. I would for older kids as they protect for up to 6 hrs. Kids are into everything so it's a peace of mind. Overall fix the texture and the packaging.
Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa · 30/08/2017 14:00
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I use a little bottle sometimes which can leak, so these are a good alternative.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me, and both of my DC.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I quite liked it.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
I wasn't a fan. I sometimes buy strawberry scented wipes for my bag, which are far nicer in smell.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
It was ok.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
OK.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On the train, and out and about on a trip.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes
Fattynoms02 · 30/08/2017 15:08

Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels?
Usually use gels, these were better as not as sticky and easy to use on baby.

  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Just me.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Thought it was good that one side was textured. Also good that they weren't too soggy.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Good.... Not too strong in terms of the alcohol/antibac type smell.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Not sticky. A little drying but not as much as some gels.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Good size and the colour etc stands out from normal baby wipes so easy to find when digging about! Sealed well again. But, the design does look a bit more like a cleaning product.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Out and about...cafes, baby group, picnic.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes definitely.
clam77 · 30/08/2017 15:54
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
We currently use gel so these wipes were completely different. They were just as easy to use and carry as the gel and they made me feel like my hands were cleaned properly.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself ,my husband and our 9 year old daughter.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Felt rougher than expected but my daughter didn't comment on it. I like that it was only rough on one side.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Smelt fresh but not overpowering-which is good as my daughter is quite sensitive to smells.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Our hands felt clean and soft.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
A good size pack, easy to open and the wipes didn't dry out once opened thanks to the resealable lid.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
After we had been shopping, after we had used the toilets while out, on our travels and before we ate out
  • Would you recommend this product? Yes, i think they're a great idea, easy to use, a good size to keep handy and I LOVE that they give up to 6 hours protection.
MyGirlDaisy · 30/08/2017 16:54

We do currently use wipes and Gand gel.
We used these wipes whilst out and about over the last few days, dog walking, shopping, before eating food whilst out and after a trip to the dentist.
The packaging was good resealed well and is just the right size to pop in a handbag and rucksack.
The wipes had a nice fresh smell and were just the right size, we liked the rough texture extra scrubbing of dirt!
I would definitely buy them again.
I will give a pack to my teens for use at school/ bus and commuting to uni on the trains and for my husband who uses trains and tube for work. Good for my dog walking bag, lunches out before eating etc.
I would recommend them for all ages.
Thank you.

tester

  1. I have not used antibacterial hand wipes before, and have not used gels for at least 2 years until this product test. I do not like using the gels as I find them drying and don't feel clean enough using them.
  1. I was the main tester, but my partner also tried the wipes.
  1. I was really pleased with the textured side of the wipe.
It felt like I could cleanse my hands thoroughly, and also get under my nails properly. They made me feel like I had truly cleaned my hands without the need to wash them.
  1. The fragrance was pleasant. Not overpowering, and not like the horrible chemical smell of gels I have previously tried.
  1. After a couple seconds of slight stickiness, there was no noticable residue on my hands, my skin felt clean and fresh.
  1. The design of the packaging was appropriate, a good handbag size packet.
Blue is a colour appropriated to antibacterial products, so again, appropriate and reassuring to the user.
  1. I used the wipes after a nappy change when out and about. Also used after a meal out.
  1. Yes I would recommend these wipes, definately against any other antibac gel/wipe.
This product has renewed my interest in personal use 'on the go' antibac prod products, and is something I would purchase for my personal handbag.
Demisharp · 30/08/2017 17:28
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? Yes I use wipes, they are different due to smell and the texture.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes? Me and my 3 year old son
  • What did you think of the texture of the product? I found it good for myself but may be a little to rough on children wasn't to bad for my son but maybe if a younger child used it could be too rough!
  • What did think about the fragrance? I loved the smell of these very fresh smelling!
  • What did you think about the after feel? The after feel was that my hands felt clean and not sticky like other brands
  • What did you think of the packaging? The packaging wasn't the best to me.. feel that I would walk past if I seen them in a shop and not have tried them.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? Park, bus, out and about
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes I would
HermanCakeDestroyer · 30/08/2017 17:41
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I do use antibacterial gel when I'm travelling but I find the gel quite sticky and very drying. I found Sani hands gentle and liked the textured surface.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
My Dh, 15 yo DD, 12 yo DS and I.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
I liked it - it felt liked thorough cleaning.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Again I liked it a lot as did my family. It smelt fresh and fruity.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Again, my hands felt clean and not dried out.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
It looks fine. Not particularly eye catching but simple.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
My family and I visited London to test them. We take a picnic lunch so we took them to use before we ate.
  • Would you recommend this product?
We liked it as a family for all the reasons I've mentioned above. I travel to London regularly and would happily buy a pack to take with me.

Tester

- Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different? Yes, I usually have a hand gel in my handbag to use when out and about. The bottle I use is smaller for fitting in my handbag, and I would get more uses out of it. However, the wipes are handy because any mess can be wiped away and no chance of using too much gel.
- Which members of the family tested the wipes? I used them when out with DD to wipe hands before feeding her.
- What did you think of the texture of the product? I liked the rough texture of one side of the wipes - it made me feel like my hands were getting a good clean.
- What did think about the fragrance? The fragrance was nice and fresh smelling without being too strong.
- What did you think about the after feel? My hands felt clean
- What did you think of the packaging? Easy to get in to and I liked the resealable front so the wipes won't try out between uses. They are a nice size for handbags.
- Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes? I used them while out and about, where there weren't any sinks to go and wash my hands.
- Would you recommend this product? Yes I would, the textured surface and handy sized pack are both a big selling point.

Tester:

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
I currently use hand gel and wipes. These wet different because they have a rough surface to remove dirt.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Myself and my daughter
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
It feels different but does seem to remove dirt so I don't mind
  • What did think about the fragrance?
It's a pleasant fragrance, not overpowering
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Hands felt clean and not sticky, dried quite quickly
  • What did you think of the packaging? Looks fine. It opened easily and could be resealed.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
After leaving the doctor's surgery
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, depending on the price.

Thanks for letting me test the product.

WhosTakingDeHorseToFrance · 30/08/2017 18:18

Thanks for choosing us to test these, they've been incredibly useful over the past week when we've been away from home on holidays.

  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes, I use both a hand gel and small pack of wipes that I keep in my handbag. These were a good size and the textured wipe was much better as I really felt that I got the kids hands clean.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
My children, 4&9 years old and both my husband and I.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Loved it, felt like I got hands squeaky clean, also did a great job on the manly picnic table we ended up with earlier.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Thought it was pleasant and unobtrusive.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
My very sensitive skin was not dried out or tight feeling so I thought the afterfeel was great. Alcohol gels in particular dry out my skin.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
It was ok, I did find the flap a bit fiddly to open when faced with a grubby squirming 4 year old who did not have dirty hands...
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
We've been on trains,in cafes on a picnic and in a grubby city centre. Hugely reassuring to know some of the bugs won't come home with us!
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes they are a really effective product, although at 10p per wipe they are quite costly.
Littlequaver2 · 30/08/2017 19:46
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
Yes I currently use gels but these wipes were fabulous. They don't leave hands sticky (and toddlers and sticky hands sort of negates the cleaning in the first place) and they don't have that terrible, lingering smell that many gels have.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Me, my husband, my three year old and my one year old.
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Loved it. It is really unique and did a fantastic job of getting muck off.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
Quite pleasant really but not overpowering so I had to have a good sniff.
  • What did you think about the after feel? My son loved that his hands didn't feel 'wet'.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
I'm not sure, had I not been given them to test, that I would have noticed them on a shelf. However, the message is clear and the quality of the seal is good so wipes lasted.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
In the woods, at a farm, at a train station and on the messiest picnic we have had in quite some time.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes, definitely. I have already started telling people.
jennielou75 · 30/08/2017 20:41
  1. Where did you use the wipes?
I used them in my classroom. I was cleaning the windows and shelves and my hands got filthy. These cleaned them up straight away.
  1. What did you think of the packaging?
It's great. Has all the info but is smaller than my other wipes so quick to find.
  1. What about the fragrance, texture, size?
Love the fragrance. The rough side is a bit unexpected but is good for really dirty stuff. I suspect I will use it a lot when the children are back!
  1. Would you buy them again?
Definitely and lots of packs so I have them everywhere in my classroom. We have lots of problems with keeping things clean and germs at bay. We had a vile stomach bug that did circuits round my class last year. I really feel these will help prevent that this year.
  1. What situations is the handy size pack handy for?
It stands out from other wipes and can literally be put in so many places in case of emergency!
  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Yes and teachers! I would check to make sure they are used properly but when children come in with filthy hands after playtime I can use one of these with confidence. I can see so many uses in my classroom!
Pipstarz41 · 30/08/2017 21:17

1.Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?

Whilst we were out and about at the zoo after petting animals and before eating lunch.

  1. What did you think of the packaging?

The package was easy to open and reseal. The design has a medical look which gives the impression of cleanliness. Good size to fit into the changing bag or into a handbag.

  1. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?

I liked the texture! A little different but it felt like it was getting rid of the dirt effectively. My 3yo kept asking what the bumpy bits were so trying to explain it was fun!! The wipe was quite large and it did my hands and my daughters hands which was useful. Clean smell.

  1. Do you think you'd buy them again?

Yes definitely. I think they are more child friendly than antibacterial gels and got rid of dirt a lot more effectively.

  1. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!

Really useful for the zoo and at the farm where you've been petting animals and may not be near a hand washing station. Good for eating when out and about too.

  1. Would you recommend them to other parents?

Yes definitely. I feel that the wipes are much better than antibacterial gel. My toddler is generally reluctant to use the gel though, so the wipes were a much better alternative as she is much more used to wipes with baby wipes being used for pretty much everything in our house...

Fanjango · 30/08/2017 23:01
  • Do you currently use antibacterial hand wipes or gels? If yes, how were these different?
We currently use anti bac gels as asd son hates the residue left by wipes.
  • Which members of the family tested the wipes?
Asd son (12) daughter 10 and me
  • What did you think of the texture of the product?
Son liked them, not bad for a sensory boy, daughter said they felt weird, bobbly.
  • What did think about the fragrance?
It was fairly delicate and it like the clinical smell of most of the gels and wipes we've used.
  • What did you think about the after feel?
Not bad. Son fretted at first worried his hands were sticky but after calming and promising it would get better was relieved that they dried without stickiness.
  • What did you think of the packaging?
Good pocket size, not bulky, and easy to get into.
  • Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
On a day trip to the zoo. Son can't wash hands in public toilets so we rely on wipes or gels, he has a germ phobia.
  • Would you recommend this product?
Yes. The bobbly effect really got the hands clean, the fragrance was pleasant and not antiseptic smelling at all. Would use again.
HoisinSource · 30/08/2017 23:16

1. Where did you use the Sani Hands Anti-bacterial Hand Wipes?
Before, during and after work (I work in a nursery) and my colleagues also tried them

2. What did you think of the packaging?
Its okay...doesnt stand out. Bit clinical and dull. Personally I think the packaging can be "fun" as well as informative. I like handwipes to have funky packaging (i.e bright green with pink stripes, etc, something to stand out in my oversized bag!) but thats just my personal preference.

3. What about the fragrance? And texture of the wipe? And size?
Loved the smell, reminded me of KFC handwipes lol! Loved the soft side but found the rough side a little too rough, however excellent for cleaning more stubborn or sticky stains. Size was perfect for all hands.

4. Do you think you’d you buy them again?
Probably, if I ran out of gel.

5. What sort of situations do you think the handy sized pack was handy for?!
Travelling, public toilets, public transport etc

6. Would you recommend them to other parents?
Yes, smell nice, and always useful!
