Mind Candy asked us to recruit MNers with at least one DC aged 5-8 to test their new subscription service, containing fun Moshi-themed activities and games. The boxes work in conjunction with the Moshi Egg Hunt Mobile Game, which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android. Selected testers were sent a letter from Moshlingologist Buster Bumblechops, enlisting their DCs to help in a quest to retrieve a special stolen egg. This was then followed up by the first in a series of Mystery Boxes, containing crafts and activities.

Here’s what Mind Candy have said about the product: ‘The experience begins when your DC receives an exciting personalised letter in the post, in which Buster Bumblechops explains that a very special Moshling egg has been stolen and that he’ll soon be sending a Moshi Mystery Box, jam-packed with clues, activities and missions. The first box contains fun art and craft activities, Moshi collectables, a comic strip, jokes and much more. And if you decide to sign up, there will be two more Moshi Mystery Boxes to follow.

A simple story runs across all three boxes, taking your child on a quest across Monstro City. Each box is also themed - box one is the Frostipop Glacier, two is Potion Ocean and three is all about the Gombala Gombala Jungle! The first box will also contain a pack of trading cards that can be scanned to unlock exclusive characters in the 100% free Moshi Monsters Egg Hunt Mobile Game!’

Testers - if you’ve been sent your mystery box, please leave your feedback on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw for a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Thanks for taking part and good luck with the prize draw.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My DD was so excited to receive a letter addressed to her, we sat down and I helped her to read through the letter. It was followed by a weeks worth of her asking me if the box had arrived yet and me dutifully answering not yet. When it did arrive she couldn't wait to get into it. She went through all the pieces asked me what some of it said and asked if we could download the game.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
Ironically, the balloons and not even for the frozen eggs...she wanted to make squeezy stress balloons with flour. Each to their own.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
We downloaded the game pretty much straight away, DD played with it for about 15 mins but hasn't asked to go on it since. I don't think it really appealed to her as she's not hugely into app games or tech.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I think this is quite steep, but not too far off, dependant on the subscription rate. I would be very hesitant to be spending £9.99 per week for the amount you get from the box. However, if this was per month for a box I would feel more comfortable.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
DD loved that the letter and box was addressed directly to her, as a child you don't really receive a lot of post unless it's your birthday or Christmas so it makes it quite exciting to have something addressed to her and written to her.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I think it would depend on the subscription rate for me. I do think the price is too high for a weekly subscription so if that was the case I would be unlikely to subscribe.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
I think a lower price or prehaps more activities and toys in the box. It would be better if there was more of a connection between the activities and the story line (the activities go along with the story to create things that help with finding the missing egg).

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
He was super excited- ripped it open to inspect each item. Really liked the fact it was addressed to him and believe that Mr B is real!
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He liked the characters and colouring and cutting the egg out. Loved doing the balloon experiment.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
This was probably his favourite part of the experience. He loves collecting things so wants to collect all the cards and characters.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Def too pricey for what it is- I wouldn't mind paying £14 for two boxes.

  • What did your DC think of the overall
Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He was super pleased to get the letter and then the box- the wait for the box following the letter was agony! Though he was so happy to receive the box he wrote Mr B a thank you letter which I had to then fake post!

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

I would definitely have gone for it but the price is too high for what you get.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
As other have said, a note for parents explaining all the bits and what to do etc. Thank you!
mclarengurl · 27/06/2017 10:39

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box? - I read the letter with my son, and he was very excited a) to have received his own mail in the post, and b) to be getting a mystery box and c) the need for help.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it? The moshi monsters. We are yet to get them in the balloons as he's been carrying them around with him.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, we have put this on daddy's iPad which my son operates regularly. We love this game, love the games and the hunt for the eggs, he gets very excited when one is hatching and used the iPad to upload the codes via QR Code which is a first for him.

We have been on the hunt ever since for more trading cards, but have not found a store that stocks them as of yet. We did find a couple of codes on the internet, which he was more than happy with and runs around telling us how many moshis he now has. We have opened the world of Moshi Monsters up to him.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price? I think that's quite high for a bundle of 2, maybe do a family pack and around £15 and a single at £9.99. There wasn't much in the way of craft projects, that was rather basic and slim pickings to be honest. The balloon idea is good and the little Moshis make up for the lack of other crafts, the decorating egg one I found a bit too simple.

The cards and codes are what really got my son's attention.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? We've had mystery boxes before, so he knew what sort of things to expect, and loves that it's HIS box and has HIS name on it.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series? I would really need to see what comes in the boxes. If my son is going to carry on with the iPad and loving the Moshi trading cards I may get the boxes if they come with cards and little Moshi monsters, for just the craft side I would not subscribe. We have a lot of the craft bits at home, as I said before I thought one of the crafts was very very basic.

How do you think the experience could be improved? Maybe not put a timeline on the letter, to say 'next week' to a child you may as well say next year, and then for the box to be delayed raises disappointment. Maybe send out cards with the letter?

starlight36 · 27/06/2017 11:47

My daughter loved the introductory letter and kept waiting to see when she would get the box so she could help Buster Bumblechops. Ours arrived exactly a week later.

The favourite bits from the box for my son were the little figures (two small from the ice task) and the larger figure. These have been played with every day. My daughter loves the interactivity of the trading cards and the game.

We downloaded the game the same day we received the box and it is played with every day. Both children love playing the games and the unisex nature of the moshkings makes it appealing to both unlike other apps we have. I was surprised that there were some more educational games on there as well as the ones I'd expect to find. The concept if having to earn points in order to buy things from the shop is a useful reinforcer of how Mummy and Daddy have to budget to buy things.

I think the price is a bit expensive for what you receive compared with other subscriptions. Whilst they loved both activities there wasn't much needed to complete them. I don't usually buy trading cards so am bare how much these cost.

The kids loved the whole box. A lot of thought had been put into making it attractive to children. The personalisation aspect was great although in our case it woukd have been better if we could have opted for both children to be included - perhaps a sibling option?

As we have the summer holidays coming up and both kids have really enjoyed the box I will probably get the next two boxes but still don't think it is the best value.

A longer story in the box would make it better value and better engage older children. The instructions for tasks need to match the materials provided. We received three balloons with the instruction to place two mini figures in each but onky received two in total - my daughter was disappointed because she thought we had missing pieces from our box. As suggested earlier a sibling option here two children could be addressed and perhaps more materials would be great. On the positive side the size of the box meant we could receive it through the letterbox whilst I was out.

Thanks to Mumsnet and Mind Candy for the opportunity to try the box.

Newjob12345 · 27/06/2017 11:49

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Ripped it open sending the contents everywhere! Once cleared up he enjoyed looking through the bags to see the crafts and examining the cards. He also loved receiving mail that was especially for him.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He really enjoyed the balloon game, that was definitely his favourite part.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
We did. It was good fun, not too complicated to use.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Far too expensive for what you get. I would pay £7 at the most.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He enjoyed it. He liked receiving the letter first and kept an eager out every day for the box. The personalisation is a nice touch.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Unlikely unfortunately. I can't justify paying that much.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
By making it cheaper.

babycakes1010 · 27/06/2017 12:41

Thank you for allowing us to take part in this trial.
My daughter was over the moon to receive her letter and couldn't wait to open the box.
She loved doing the balloon experiment the most.
No we didn't manage to download the app.
I think the price is expensive and should be priced lower.
My daughter overall enjoyed it and the letter made her day.
I don't think I will upgrade as it's too much money.
Lower the price.

miniann80 · 27/06/2017 13:04

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My little girl, aged 5 was delighted to see a letter addressed to her. When I read it to her she was really excited that more was coming and wanted to help Mr Bumblechops. (If that's his name)
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The little monsters, currently they are frozen in the balloon.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes and she enjoyed playing it. She kept showing me things in it. I still need to do the codes with her.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I think it is very expensive for what you get and I would definitely spend that money on something else that would be more worthwhile and better value for money.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation
? She enjoyed it and the personalisation is a great bonus
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Very unlikely due to cost
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
I think the box could come sooner after the letter as my daughter asked once and then forgot about it until it come. I think it should be cheaper and have more in the box.
Jodunne · 27/06/2017 13:24

My 8 year old DD loved the initial letter and was really excited about what would follow. She loved the personal side of it. They box looked really exciting but my DD wasn't overjoyed by what was inside.

The only items in the box which my DD liked were the moshi monsters she wasn't keen on the activities and the cards. She found most of the stuff quite boring.

She wasn't interested in the downloadable game as it didn't seem like something she would enjoy. I am not sure if we will download the game as yet.

The price for the boxes is far too expensive for literally bits of coloured paper and that's about it. To get children interested a better offer would be to give 3 boxes for £3 and then see if they wanted to continue.

The personalisation was great but I think my DD got more out of the initial letter than the box of items. The moshi monsters were a plus.

There is no way I would upgrade to a paid subscription as there isn't enough in the box to warrant the price.

A shorter time between the letter and the box would improve this product, more moshi monsters perhaps and better craft activities. The free ones with children's magazines are much better and that is saying something!

Karanew · 27/06/2017 16:22

My daughter received her box yesterday. Was so excited to see her post! She opened it alone and was very excited by the contents. She loved the craft items the best and we have the balloons in the freezer ready to go! We have not tried the app yet but will do at the weekend. Her favourite items has to be the craft items as she loves making things. I think it is priced slightly too high as there are cheaper craft alternatives on the market. If the price was lower I would be buying again. Overall a really good idea which has already occupied my daughter for a few hours

Lyn29 · 27/06/2017 17:02

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My daughter got so excited to receive post through the door addressed to her. She opened the letter and made me read it to her and when she received the box about a week later she ripped it open and poured everything out onto the floor. She said she was looking for the missing egg for Mr Bumblechops!!

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

Her favourite item from the box was the ice balloon challenge and the little Moshling bunny. I wouldn't say that she is completely playing with but it is something that she keeps going back too.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

I did download the mobile game but my dd didn't want to play with it at all and showed no interest. She was more consumed with putting LOTS OF SALT on the frozen eggs!!

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I was really surprised at the cost of the boxes as I regularly subscribe to other box subscriptions and they vary around the £5-6 mark which I think the moshi monster box is more suited too. I wouldn't pay this price unfortunately.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

My daughter did enjoy the experience and doing the crafts and colouring in defiantly filled her Saturday afternoon. The balloon craft was great fun and much like a science experiment. Downside was one of the balloons had a small hole in it when it arrived and there was not enough salt but that is something you always have handy at home. I loved the personalised touch and my dd said "did my elf on the shelf tell Mr Bumblechops about me?" She couldn't get her hand round that they knew who she was!!

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not likely as the cost is too high. I would defiantly consider though if it was round the £5-6 mark every month.I believe they would sell more units if they were to lower the price.

How do you think the experience could be improved?

My daughter said the box was perfect the way it is!! Just change the price and it would be a winner!!
See below for pics of her enjoying her box!

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

DD was super excited to get the letter and she read it all, she was very impatient to get the box which didn't arrive for a few days, she asked every day if it was here yet. She ripped the box open as soon as it arrived!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
I think it was the cards which she used to download the game and the mini moshi monsters. Yes she is still playing with them.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes and she loved, it's just the kind of thing she is in to. She really loved scanning the codes and has been playing it a lot.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I think it's quite a lot to be honest. She liked the contents but they're the kind of thing that you can get cheaper elsewhere. It was more the app and cards she was interested in and I think that is a lot of money to pay for those.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Really good, just a little pricey if I was paying!

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Sorry I think it's too much money. DD would happily spend it for me though!

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

I'd stick with the cards/moshi eggs etc and reduce the price a lot. The app and the cards/moshlings were the thing that DD really loved.

chloemejustme · 27/06/2017 19:05

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

= DD Loved the personalisation, in particular the stamp saying moshi mail, being one of the older testers she remembers moshi monsters and still has hundreds in her collection so was very excited. Although the box arrived damaged (a bit flimsy) it had great branding, colours and personalisation and presentation.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

She liked the toy and the mini toys as they were ones she didn't have, the collectors cards with scratch off codes were a close second!

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes, very easy to download, with fun animations to watch which explains the app, all self intuitive, my daughter managed it well. She played on it for a while (but she is a dedicated fan) Only draw back is its quite a large game and took a while to download.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

To be honest we thought that was reasonable as we buy subscription boxes and some are close to the later price for just one. I think if the box was more durable and mystery bags were better presented then we would be happy to pay that.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Loved the personalization, means you can keep them and look back at them, my daughter has a box where she keeps things she likes and her moshi letter now resides here. Liked the mix of activities on offer, with comics, colouring sheets, puzzles, art and science means they can be done in those boredom moments.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

After we move house, I wouldn't mind continuing.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

I feel the boxes should be more sturdy due to ours being damaged in the post, Also the mystery bags with activities should have the instructions with them rather than separately. I wonder whether they should be labelled mystery craft, mystery experiment and maybe mystery prize so kids don't just rip them open expecting toys in all of them As the bags were the first thing opened rather than looking at all the leaflets.

kierie · 27/06/2017 20:35

Still haven't received ours :(

Butteredparsnip1ps · 27/06/2017 21:00

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
She read the letter several times over (I hadn't told her it was coming) and loved it. She liked knowing there was a box on the way - and was delighted when the box finally arrived.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She loved the ice / balloon game, and had several attempts at it!

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
No

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
It's expensive. In terms of play value, I would say the box is comparable to a comic priced at £4 - £5

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She loved the idea of it, and was made up with the letter with her name on - her name is a little unusual and so she can never buy merchandise with it - the letter was a nice touch

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I'm afraid I'm not. Much as she liked it, i can think of better value activities.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
DD has suggested more complete activities to do - not ones where you have to find or buy other items to complete them

Thanks for choosing us to test this.

murzite · 27/06/2017 21:03

  1. My daughter was delighted to receive a letter addressed to her. She ripped open the box with glee when it arrived but didn't want to read what to do, just play with the contents.
  1. She loved the egg activity.
  1. We downloaded the game and my daughter loves playing on it.
  1. I feel that the prices are quite high but then I am quite tight with money!
  1. We both enjoyed the experience. I liked the printing and design and thought that the personalisation would really appeal to youngsters.
  1. I wouldn't upgrade as money us a bit tight and I think that my child is happy with what she has already.
  1. I would have preferred a shorter wait between the letter and mystery box. I didn't find it particularly obvious what to do with the box but that could have just been me!
Reebs123 · 27/06/2017 22:54

Thank you for the Moshi monsters mystery box

-What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

She was so excited! She squealed & shrieked so much that my husband wasn't sure what was happening! She looked forward to it all week. She practically ripped open the box and got all the stuff out. She read everything and just played with the figures.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The little Moshi monsters were her favourite so much so she didn't want to put them in the balloon & freeze. She's not playing with it any more
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

No we couldn't find the game online and I didn't see any cards although I will have another look.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Sorry, no. That's too high considering the contents.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She did like it but wasn't too thrilled about the craft/ science activities.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Very unlikely.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Faster delivery or don't mention in the 1st letter that the box will arrive next week. Include more suitable activities / toys in the box or lower the price.

I wish the test box didn't mention there were another 2 boxes as my daughter's quite upset I won't order them.

HeadDreamer · 28/06/2017 07:49

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

I responded in the weekend saying DC wasn't interested in downloading the game. But I talked her into it. Now she is playing it every morning! Very addictive. She likes all the little games like whack a hole, pick an egg. She also like hatching eggs, and decorating the treehouse. She has scanned all the free cards that come with the box. Hasn't used the code yet. One thing she didn't get is the rox. She hasn't worked out she can get stuff with it.

SherbertDip · 28/06/2017 09:10

- What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
She was really excited and kept asking daily when the box would turn up, when the box came she was excited to see the contents

- Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She loved the little charachter (a squirrel I think)

- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes we did and she spent a fair amount of time using the scratch cards and loading them onto the game

- These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I feel this is quite expensive if its a regular thing not so bad for a one off

- What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She liked th efact that it was addressed to her as she loves to get post

- How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not likely I am afraid its too expensive for a regular thing

- How do you think the experience could be improved?
Make it cheaper to carry on the adventure

thebluefoxategreensocks · 28/06/2017 09:10
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Tore the box open as fast as he could, which almost resulted in a pack of salt being opened in the excitement!
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The balloon experiment was my son's favourite item, so no, not still playing with it (as it's a one-off). He does like the Moshling and mini ones too.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, we downloaded the App. The children think it's fab and lots of fun. They are still enjoying it.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
We were shocked and disappointed by the very high price for the remaining boxes. I had though it would be something more sensible - like £4.99 per box, and would have signed up to finish the mystery. But that price really does not reflect the value of the items.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
My son loved getting a letter addressed to him. Though it was over a week wait to get the box, which left him thinking it would never come. So perhaps not specifying a time would be a better idea.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Very unlikely to do this because of the price of the boxes. It really is about double the value of the contents, so can't justify this sort of expense.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Reduced price! That's the biggest let down. Otherwise, it's good fun and my son loved it. Perhaps if the activities were a bit more orderly, so it's not confusing what items (like salt and balloons) are meant to be used for.

Thanks for picking us to test! All in, it was a very fun experience. :-)

girlsyearapart · 28/06/2017 09:24

DS (5) very excited to get personalised post and couldn't fathom how the moshi monsters knew his name.
Much jealousy from elder siblings..
Box arrived and he was pleased but tore into a bit too enthusiastically for me to see.

He liked the little figures and the cards but the thing he is still doing now is the puzzles on the sheet of paper. He loves spot the difference.

No we didn't download the game as they haven't had their tablets since we got the box. Not ruling it out though.

Too expensive especially with 4dc who would then expect similar items

Overall experience was fun and positive. It was nice for the baby of the family to have something just for him.

No we wouldn't upgrade as it's too much money.

Make it cheaper and lose the app side of it.

Thanks very much for choosing us Smile

First of all thank you!

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
When I gave letter to my son he read it and first question he asked was"Mummy did you write this letter?" I explained that it wasn't me."Oh.cool then.will wait for box to come" He asked about any post for couple of days and then forget about letter. When box come it was Saturday and I didn't even get a chance to take photo as he ripped it open to see what's inside.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He loved activity where he filled balloon with water and moshy monster and put in freezer.Later I found melting moshi monsters on our stairs,as bolls with freezed moshi monsters was thrown down the stairs and other possible and impossible experiments done to get out moshi monsters from ice.He play with moshi monsters figurines and try to hide them from his younger brother. He didn't coloured egg as he is not really into craft more in science but used glue for other projects.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
I downloaded game to our tablet and my son liked it.Fun to play however it is not his first choice if he is allowed screen time.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I agree with others that £ 9.99 looks to expensive and unfortunately I will not buy other boxes at that price because it feels that this is not worth the money as not enough activities
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? Personalisation is great thing but if it takes too long time from getting letter and box kids just forgot all about that or feel upset that nothing is coming.Couple of days gap between letter and box would be fantastic.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series? Sorry not upgrading at that price 6£ maybe even £7 but not more. This box was nice but didn't keep him busy for long.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
More activities.Less price.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
He was delighted to receive the letter and box, we read the letter together, the way it was personal to him was an awesome touch as he LOVES receiving post! He was waiting for the box to arrive, he actually ripped it open without me present and glued the salt onto the paper without me realising, it was difficult to see what was what after not being there for the initial opening. We finally figured it out and he did the activities properly, he really enjoyed them and he loves the figures.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The cards were his favourite as he's been scanning them onto the app, he also loves the little figures, he is still playing with both a week on. I liked the activities included and the fact that we could replace bits such as the salt and the balloons and redo them easily
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, he played it pretty easily at age 5, I haven't looked at the app too much but he likes it
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
I think the price is too high for what it was, there wasn't any need to include the salt/paint/ balloons in my opinion as most people have these bits at home or can use alternative things to still complete the activities, apart from that then it's just the letter, cards and figures in the box and I would expect to pay around £6.49 for one box and maybe £10.99 for two
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He did really enjoy it actually, he loved that it was addressed to him and he likes using suitable apps, its given him a new interest in moshi monsters which he wasn't too familiar with before, so overall I think it's been a really lovely experience for him Thankyou
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I would really love to upgrade to the next two boxes but unfortunately I couldn't afford the £17.99 on it at present, I would consider it more at a slightly lower price
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
I would just say a slightly lower price if it could be made possible by removing the extras that aren't really needed, I would also say maybe organise the box slightly better so you can flow from one activity to the next easier. Overall though we've loved being a part of this and want to thank you so much for choosing us to try it out ❤️
