We are looking for 50 MNers, with at least one child under the age of 12, to test the new Google Home. If selected, you’ll receive the product, worth £129, and get to keep it! Grin

What you’ll need do: Test Google Home for two weeks and give feedback on your experience by posting on a feedback thread as well as completing a short survey.

Here’s what Google has to say about the product: “The time we get to spend at home with our family and friends is pretty special. So what if technology could help us make the most of those moments, instead of sometimes pulling our attention away from them? Google Home is a hands-free smart speaker powered by the Google Assistant that does just that. Whether you want to get answers from Google, enjoy your music*, manage your everyday tasks and control compatible smart devices around your home, all you have to do is say “Ok Google”.

*Google Home is optimised for selected music services only. Subscriptions/payments may be required.

Below is a video about the product:

Thanks and good luck!

MerryInthechelseahotel · 15/05/2017 20:39

I'm ready and willing. My kids would love it!

nerysw · 15/05/2017 21:29

Not sure how it'd cope with some of the weird questions my six year old would want to ask it but it'd be fun to give it a try!

Twinkletowedelephant · 15/05/2017 23:22

Would love this having 3 kids with asd and inquisitive minds would be great... We could find out which planets has the most moons... If dolphins have friends.... How to find the special item in the DS game of the day... Who sings xxx.... How the Romans faked having big muscles... Why carrots are orange, what's the biggest ever sunflower.... The list is endless I could just point them in the direction in Google and go make a coffee :)

Megansmumsie · 16/05/2017 02:05

Love this and have applied. I home educate my daughter and between the two of us we have an endless amount of questions we want answered, we would use this all the time!

It'd be useful for all our appointments too, i'd never forget a physio appointment again! haha.

myrealfairy · 16/05/2017 12:46

This would be great in our house. 2 boys aged 8 and 11 very techi and us a parents who love these gadgets:)

emmskie03 · 16/05/2017 14:13

I'd love to try the Google Home. With a clingy toddler the thought of doing things handsfree thrills me. Imagine managing the shopping list without having to touch anything or turning on music whilst you are elbow deep in baked beans during lunch, bliss!

slightlydomesticated · 16/05/2017 15:50

Done. Would love to try this out.

OohMrDarcy · 16/05/2017 15:55

Would LOVE to be picked to test this. Held off getting the Amazon Echo as I'm a Google / Android person and house.

My two kids (7 and 10) would use it constantly I'm sure, and I'd love to use it with my various android devices and work stuff too (Google for work) Would love to see how well it links with things like Google Keep as well as all the obvious things!

FedUpTiredWornOut · 16/05/2017 18:13

Would love to try this

lalahotpants · 16/05/2017 21:22

This looks amazing, my 8 year old was watching it on YouTube earlier!

Pickofthepops · 17/05/2017 06:48

Really hoping with this one it looks great

tigga61 · 17/05/2017 12:48

with 3 kids aged 11-7-& 4 the questions are never ending with google this would give my head a bit of peace after school.

SerenaJoy · 17/05/2017 17:05

I'd love to try this! Mainly because Alexa has no trouble understanding my husband's voice, but refuses to acknowledge me, the bitch Angry

PinkSnowAndStars · 17/05/2017 20:45

My 5 year old has seen this advertised on television! He's desperate to have one! Fingers crossed we get picked

eternalopt · 17/05/2017 23:05

Done and fingers crossed!

Belo · 18/05/2017 08:25

I would LOVE to try this! We've used a friends Amazon Echo and thought it was great. I'm not a big fan of Amazon though so I've resisted buying it so far. DD2 has an Echo Dot on her birthday list. We would love to try Alexa's competition and hopefully find it better! If we're selected, this would be like an early birthday present for her (and me!)

chloemejustme · 18/05/2017 10:30

my kid youtuber would adore this she aged 9 and home educated, she loves gadgets and very bright and inquisitive she is always asking questions and i always retort with lets ask google!

thesoupdragon44 · 18/05/2017 15:36

I looked at something similar at Christmas and wondered how it might fit into family life, I think it would be something that everyone in the house would use.

Kimcress · 18/05/2017 17:49

My son would love to test the Google device! He would be able to complete his homework when he gets stuck, ask silly and informational questions!

RobertsCrew · 18/05/2017 17:50

My eldest daughter (18) who hopes to be an architect is constantly going on about smart technology which in turn has encouraged my younger children to get involved too. We are all active technology users and alwaysger recommended/recommend different products to others for smart homes and we hope to be able to develop our own house in the future. Hope to get a chance to review this product and see how it stacks up against others!

bigpaws · 19/05/2017 03:47

Would definitely like to test this product out. I've been looking at getting a similar device, so would love to try this Google version. We need a homework helper in this house please!!

Faithless12 · 19/05/2017 10:26

I've noticed the same with Alexa, SerenaJoy. It refuses to acknowledge DS but if I say anything it hears me. He loves it though but is now asking me to ask her questions. Yes I really want facts about dogs Hmm

PurpleCrazyHorse · 19/05/2017 11:11

I so hope I get picked for this as the school run has been full of inane questions from my 7yo. This morning's delights included... why do we dress up and do trick or treat at Halloween? what is Heaven like? Where do cranberries grow?

I'm not sure Google Home could cope with her questioning though [grim] I'd quite imagine I'd come in and the poor device would either be smoking or muttering under it's breath!

lolly2010 · 19/05/2017 14:20

I would love to try one of these in our home I have two boys aged 5 and 10 who are technology mad and would like to see how they would use it.
