We’re looking for 70 Mumsnetters to test the Fellowes AeraMax DX55 Air Purifier (RRP £199.99).

Here’s what Fellowes have to say: “Studies indicate that indoor air can be up to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Combined with the fact that many people spend up to 90% of their time indoors, it starts to become clear why the quality of indoor air is so important. Environment Protection Agency

The Fellowes AeraMax™ Air Purifiers use a combination of the most effective filtration and cleaning methods as part of a 4-stage filtration process to remove 99.97% of airborne pollutants and particles down to 0.3 microns in size. This level of performance combined with a feature set and interface designed for any indoor environment, makes it the perfect clean air solution.”

If selected, you’ll need to test the Fellowes AeraMax DX55 Air Purifier for two weeks and give feedback by posting on a feedback thread as well as completing a short survey.

All those who give feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

I'm going to have to encourage DS to fart in front of it after reading about the farting DC's here.

Burntbum · 19/01/2017 18:21

We must have more noxious farts here - ours went from blue to red! 😀

GooodMythicalMorning · 19/01/2017 21:10

Ooh mines gone to red after dh got ready for work (night shifts) I bet it's the amount of deodorant he puts on.

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 19/01/2017 21:48

Had mine in the bedroom last night, at 4am I woke up, the blue lights on the front had lit up my bedroom like a beacon.

I do struggle with appliances lighting up (the new phone I bought is too bright at night also), have demoted the purifier to the landing for now.

It turned red this morning as well, no farts were involved, maybe it could be the dog though hubby tells me to bath him more lol

TheNiffler · 19/01/2017 22:07

So far mine has been blue in both the basement and the kitchen. Really happy about that, it means the mould in the basement is definitely gone, and I'm safe to sit there. Surprised the kitchen is blue, it's right next to the guinea pigs' cage.

It's very quite, I'm impressed with it so far.

TheNiffler · 19/01/2017 22:09

@JustineBMumsnet, could you please confirm that we get to keep the purifiers, so I can bin the vast quantities of packaging.

TheNiffler · 19/01/2017 22:42

It's very QUIET. FGS I'm sure that's what I typed.

deste · 19/01/2017 22:44

I got mine this week, thank you and the email said you get to keep it if you give feedback. I think.

GooodMythicalMorning · 20/01/2017 08:17

Yes we get to keep them if we do the feedback on the thread and fill in the survey that they will send out.

alibubbles · 20/01/2017 08:20

It keeps coming on full blast at 5.10 am in the morning, so I have been up really early the last 2 days for no reason other than the purifier waking me.

It has made a difference to my catarrh - tmi alert, DH says I used to hawk like an old man every morning and constantly clear my throat, nasty brown gunky stuff coughed up from the back of my nose and throat, (my nose won't blow) but I have no catarrh, none, my nose feels very clear, it's great.

I'm going to move it to the other side of the house now to see what happens there.

insan1tyscartching · 20/01/2017 08:51

Well no surprise here that the dog farting turned ours red,he could strip paint I swear. Can't really decide whether the smell cleared quicker than normal or not though.

Shiraznowplease · 20/01/2017 09:08

Glad other posters dc are being kept amused by the lights turning red when dc fart ... my ds (7) invited his friends over to see this and to see who could make it change colour longest 😂😂😂 my ballet loving, girly girl is currently winning although ds football team kit pre wash came a close second .... 18 mud covered kits fro. Smelly 7 and 8 year old boys ... ds is not amused 😝😂

MillyMollyMardy · 20/01/2017 21:37

Ours is in DS' room. He swears he is coughing less. The only thing I have noticed is that his room smells nicer,

MrsMarigold · 20/01/2017 22:33

Despite living on a busy road ours has only gone red once and amber once but, I swear the house smells fresher.

I moved it to DS's room but it was blue, I was convinced it wouldn't be.

Tomorrow I'm going to light the woodburner and see what happens.

The lights and the faint whirr mean I couldn't have it in the bedroom.

In terms of design I would prefer a longer cable a bit like those retractable ones you get on vacuum cleaners.

TheNiffler · 21/01/2017 11:25

I think our house is smelling fresher too. It's gone red once, when DD2 slightly burnt some toast, and amber a couple of times - both times I was giving the guinea pigs hay, so it must be picking up on pollen and dust from that - it's dust extracted 5 a Day timothy hay, which had flowers and dried veggies in it. I'm impressed by its sensitivity, and really looking forward to a pollen free house in the summer.

Is there a separate feedback thread? Or are we leaving our feedback here?

Supermagicsmile · 21/01/2017 11:47

I was doubting ours was working as it stayed blue at all times util ds farted and turned it amber. I have tried it in all the bedrooms and it's been blue. If I leave it on in the bedroom will it still clean the air or does it deem the air clear enough already?

Supermagicsmile · 21/01/2017 12:03

Sprayed perfume nearby and it didn't change from the first blue one Blush maybe ours isn't working properly!

TheNiffler · 21/01/2017 13:25

DD2's BF tested ours by flicking a lighter next to it - the filters are at the side - not lit, he just let the fluid gas out next to it. Turned it red, then amber as it cleaned.

NettleTea · 21/01/2017 15:00

Ive been away so only just plugged mine in, and everything looking good so far. I shall try to encourage DD to fart in front of it later!

VeganCow · 21/01/2017 18:26

Supermagicsmile try spraying deodorant right next to it, or let some gas out of a lighter like TheNiffler says above, it will deffo go red.

itshappenedagain · 21/01/2017 20:56

Ours arrived last week. It has had many places over the last few days, and made a massive improvement to my sleep!

Supermagicsmile · 22/01/2017 13:14

Had it in DD's room since last night. It was blue until just now when it went amber. Her room is opposite the bathroom and since showering, it's been red! So pleased it works properly Grin as I was starting to worry that it had been blue so much!

TheNiffler · 22/01/2017 19:27

I'm seriously impressed, someone has just been round my house, a smoker. I'm wheezing away now, it's one of my main triggers, and they've turned the purifier amber simply by standing within 5 feet of it.

tobecontinued2000 · 22/01/2017 19:58

I'm seriously impressed with this product.

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/01/2017 21:09

Also very impressed. Saving my stories of farting children for the feedback thread. I'm not sure it's what Fellowes were thinking of with this product but it's really purifying our air!
