This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested LloydsPharmacy Solero sun creams.

Here’s what LloydsPharmacy has to say: “April 2016 sees the launch of our reformulated and re-packaged own brand of suncare range, Solero. We understand that our customers’ skin is as unique as they are, which is why we have introduced a range of suncream that is perfect for every type of skin – an ultra-sensitive range for skin prone to eczema (atopic dermatitis) and psoriasis, which has been dermatologically tested and approved, and a triple defence range that protects from 3 types of harmful rays, UV-A, UV-B and Infrared-A”

Non-tester? For a chance to win a LloydsPharmacy skin care hamper worth over £75 answer the below question:

I tested the kids suncream and the ultra sensitive suncream in our garden this week.
The kids sun cream came in a spray bottle which is handy for an all over application but did get difficult to hold once I had cream on my hands. The cream rubbed in pretty quickly and seemed to stay on even though my daughter was in and out of the paddling pool and sandpit.
I tried the ultra sensitive cream in a regular bottle. It was thick and took a bit of rubbing in but did I stop me from burning.
I did like both products for the protection they provided but my criticisms compared to the brand I normally use are that this one has to be applied very frequently (every 2 hours) and it left our skin feeling greasy and sticky for at least an hour after application.

Q1: When and where did you test the sun cream?
In the garden and at the park during a recent warm, sunny spell.

Q2: How did you think LloydsPharmacy Solero compared to the brand you normally use?
Ok, didn't soak in great but Ok smell. Still prefer my usual brand.

Thanks for letting me test the product. I will continue to use when we next have nice weather!!

What are your favourite holiday destinations for taking the kids away?

Always France, especially the South of France. So family friendly Smile

emmav6 · 24/06/2016 21:38

lindat100 · 24/06/2016 21:46

Cornwall the beaches and sea are magnificent

KeepOnPlodding · 24/06/2016 22:56

Non-tester here. We love Spain, Portugal and the Canaries for sunshine.

But nothing beats an old-fashioned caravan/camping holiday at the seaside. Smile

Tester:

Q1: When and where did you test the sun cream?

We used it in the garden and the park on a rare hot day! I also send DS to school with it on.

Q2: How did you think LloydsPharmacy Solero compared to the brand you normally use?

I found the spray a little bit temperamental as it squirted quite hard and fast but over a small area. But that might have been the small bottle.
I liked both of the products and would consider using them again. I didn't really notice any difference from my usual brands, but I do switch brands quite often.

christinelucey · 25/06/2016 09:36

Favourite places for taking kids on holiday are any of the Spanish islands

Cailin7 · 25/06/2016 10:19

We like to take the DCs and dog to Scottish Isles or Northumberland

Brushyourteeth · 25/06/2016 10:24

Q1: When and where did you test the sun cream?
We have tested it out and about, at the park and other days out. We had the Factor 30 in a bottle (for ourselves) and the Factor 50 spray for the children.
Q2: How did you think LloydsPharmacy Solero compared to the brand you normally use?
I think that the Solero brand was definitely better than some of the brands we have used in the past, more so than the supermarket brands and even the Nivea that we have bought a couple of times. The Factor 50 spray seemed to spray and distribute well. I also liked the consistency as some of the other brands we have bought tend to be a bit gloopy. The coverage was good and both creams seemed to last well.
I would definitely buy this brand again.

angiehoggett · 25/06/2016 13:46

Non-tester - I like Spain and France

Sarahautumnwood · 25/06/2016 14:18

I tried this product recently during a heatwave weekend. The 30 factor was lovely to put on and smelt like holidays so ver pleasant and non sticky. The kids 50 factor was sticky and was hard to apply. Even though it was 50 factor my 7 yr old still managed to get sun burnt she does have v pale skin but it was applied frequently so i was not impressed. Adult one great kids not. Sarah

Anywhere with a beach - in the UK or abroad :)

Winchester123 · 25/06/2016 15:57

We finally got to try the suncream yesterday, been willing the sun to come out!
We went to Alton towers with a friend and her daughter, who actually forgot her suncream so she got to give it a go as well.
I liked both the creams however I would say they were both a little sticky.
I am going to keep trying the kids one though as my son sometimes gets a little rash with suncream and I am keen to see how this one goes. Just need a few more sunny days!
At the price, I might be tempted to buy them again but only if I had ran out of my usual brand.
Thanks for the opportunity to test.

Me and my daughter had the best holiday ever in Ibiza. People see it as the party island and totally underestimate how beautiful it is for families. xx

Non-tester - favourite holiday place we've taken children to - Isle o Wight, so much to see and do for all ages. Feels like you're abroad without the extra costs and hassle of flights etc!

danikagrace · 26/06/2016 20:06

the great British seaside

HELENSCRESCENT · 26/06/2016 20:25

Q1: When and where did you test the sun cream? On a day out in the UK on a relatively sunny day.
Q2: How did you think LloydsPharmacy Solero compared to the brand you normally use? Not as good. I found the smell really off putting and quite unpleasant and the lotion felt a lot thicker and more difficult to rub in. It also didn't has as high a star rating as my usual brand. In a positive not my child's skin which is very sensitive and has exzma did not react to them.

avery64 · 26/06/2016 21:26

Non tester: anywhere where there is safe water for the children to play in and with and get messy :)
