This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested LloydsPharmacy Solero sun creams.

Here’s what LloydsPharmacy has to say: “April 2016 sees the launch of our reformulated and re-packaged own brand of suncare range, Solero. We understand that our customers’ skin is as unique as they are, which is why we have introduced a range of suncream that is perfect for every type of skin – an ultra-sensitive range for skin prone to eczema (atopic dermatitis) and psoriasis, which has been dermatologically tested and approved, and a triple defence range that protects from 3 types of harmful rays, UV-A, UV-B and Infrared-A”

Q2: How did you think LloydsPharmacy Solero compared to the brand you normally use?. On the whole I liked it although would prefer it to be easier to apply and less sticky

rupert23 · 23/06/2016 19:56

non tester . we love weymouth especially the harbour where the kids can go crabbing

littleme96 · 23/06/2016 20:27

Non-tester here. We found Cyprus to be a really lovely family holiday destination. Not too long a flight, some lovely good value villas to stay in and lots to see and do.

nettymay · 23/06/2016 20:47

Love taking the kids to the Wye Valley canoeing. Also took them all over France with their own instructor

hdh747 · 23/06/2016 20:57

I think Devon is fabulous for taking the kids on holiday. There is just so much to see and do there.

CopperPan · 23/06/2016 21:13

We try to go to a different destination each year, but some of my favourite holidays have been to the Greek islands, Thailand and Hong Kong.

pusinky · 23/06/2016 21:47

We like Spain because apart from everything else it's family friendly.

stefalfie11 · 23/06/2016 22:04

We love taking the kids to devon, its very family orientated with some beautiful beaches to relax on with lots of fun things like piers and other amusement activities for the older ones.

Noahsmummy2012 · 23/06/2016 22:14

Our sun cream arrived just before a two week holiday in Spain so it's had a good test, the factor 30 was good and easy to apply but we really liked the kids spray bottle, it was easy to get on the kids (4 & 1 year old) and protected them well, I usually buy Boots Soltan but this is a great alternative

Marg2k8 · 23/06/2016 22:30

Non tester: I would recommend Bournemouth or Weymouth for holidays with young children.

helly27 · 24/06/2016 10:22

The UK and Tenerife

cluckyhen · 24/06/2016 11:34

None tester - UK Holidays I would say the Gower Peninsula or Hope Cove, Devon. Abroad - Trinitie Sur La Mer

Coffeechick · 24/06/2016 12:22

I tested the sun cream for usual days going to school and out and about.

I liked it. It was easily absorbed, didn't have a scent and didn't irritate my daughters eczema. The spray was useful but as I still sprayed into my hand and then applied it didn't make much difference . If I was outside when applying and didn't have to worry about it spraying onto furniture it would work well.

thatstoast · 24/06/2016 12:24

We went to the park. It's been really sunny here yesterday and today.

I usually use an own brands boots version as price is important.

emily13 · 24/06/2016 13:52

What are your favourite holiday destinations for taking the kids away?

Definitely the Canary Islands.

It's not too long a flight and there are flights from our local airport. I feel it's safer than Turkey etc. It's nearly always fantastic weather, and we usually find a good deal. There's plenty to do too.

MillyVanilli222 · 24/06/2016 14:44

A non tester - Salou is great for a family holiday - relatively inexpensive with plenry to do!

Lg74 · 24/06/2016 16:16

I tested this cream when we had our few days of British summer. I found the spray to be easy to apply but left a tacky feeling on the skin. The cream rubbed in quickly and didn't feel tacky afterwards. I found the cream thicker than the novel we had been using and didn't soak into the skin as quickly. I liked that both lotions were unperfumed and my children's skin was protected and didn't burn.

Q1: When and where did you test the sun cream?
In the garden on a sunny day and also, having kept a bottle in the nappy bag at the park in unexpectedly sunny weather. Used on children.
Q2: How did you think LloydsPharmacy Solero compared to the brand you normally use?
In terms of ease of application my usual brand was far & away easier to apply. The sole to spray was better than the squeeze bottle, however neither compared to the aerosol version I usually use.
The lotion was sticky and not as easy to rub in. The smell whilst not unpleasant wasn't great, I think it's fragrance free being ultra sensitive, this alone wouldn't put me off buying it though.
There were no reactions on my redhead child's skin and it did the job in terms of sun protection. I probably would buy another brand overall though as, with toddlers, I can't be doing with how much effort it was to a) apply and b) rub in.

Thistly · 24/06/2016 17:17

Was hoping to test with my Dr who has eczema. We currently use prescription Sun cream only, due to previous reactions, so would be good to test an alternative.
But as non tester

My favourite holiday destinations has to be the beach.

I haven't had many opportunities to take them to far away beaches like the Mediterranean, this is my fantasy. But even in Feb half term, a trip to the beach wherever it may be gives us extra vitamin d, and a feeling that there are bigger things than crowded cities

3sthenew2 · 24/06/2016 17:22

When and where did you test the cream?
Hot sunny day in the garden and as an emergency sun cream to keep in my changing bag used when out and about.

How did you find it compared to other brands?
I found it a little runnier and not as fragrant as our usual brand. That was a good thing for my toddler as I didn't worry about covering his face and irritating his eyes but I must admit I do prefer a subtle smell, it's one of those things you associate with summer. It did the job though with no irritation and neither myself or my son getting burnt and wasn't too much of a problem washing off in the bath afterwards. I do tend to go for branded 5* sun creams for my children but would buy this one for myself if the price was right as I only buy on offer, we never use a whole bottle each year so end up wasting if the expiry date is 12 months. That's not so much of a bad thing if you've managed to bag a bargain!

bettythebuilder · 24/06/2016 17:42

Non tester here, our favourite family holiday destination is Turkey, the hotels we have stayed in have been fabulous, with so much for children to do, lovely beaches and warm sea!

emmamed123 · 24/06/2016 17:46

We have only been a couple of times and even though its abit more money that the likes of Haven and Pontins, I think Butlins is a great place for the children. Entertainment, daytime activities and fairground rides all included in the price.

emmamed123 · 24/06/2016 17:46

non tester by the way

bbrisotto · 24/06/2016 19:06

1 we tested on holiday in Dorset and on days out at home.

2 It did the job and the kids didn't burn. The spray was quite runny and left the kids looking a little greasy and feeling sticky. But it was easy to apply and worked well.

RuckAndRoll · 24/06/2016 19:35

Tested on a day out at beach and on a boat on loch in highlands of Scotland, on both my 2yo with sensitive skin and DH with very sensitive skin.

I usually buy boots on brand.

Both of the boys have very sensitive skin and neither had a reaction which is great. Easy to apply, they didn't burn, and didn't get sticky with sand.
