This is the feedback thread for the 500 Mumsnetters who tested Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate.

Here’s what Comfort has to say: “We are pleased to launch the NEW Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate. Following our fantastic launch of Comfort Intense last year, we were keen to offer an extension of this format suitable for sensitive skin. Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate offers the same loved fragrance, amazing softness and performance as Comfort Pure, number 1 laundry brand for sensitive skin*, but from just a tiny dose! Just one cap (15ml) is needed in your washing load and comes in a convenient small pack, either 38 washes or 64 washes from most major retailers. Incredible softness, from just a tiny dose!”

*Based on AC Nielsen, MAT value sales, 19/03/16.

I love the smell - it is divine!
Having tried Comfort Pure, I am impressed and have decided that, rather than being an unnecessary expense it is an 'affordable luxury.' Clothes were noticeably softer and smell freshly laundered.
It makes the everyday chore of washing just that little bit nicer.
The size of the bottle makes a big difference, being less cumbersome yet long lasting.
There was nothing I disliked but I may be put off buy the cost.

Toottoot22 · 05/05/2016 21:23

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product? I loved the compact size of the bottle, it was easy to use and measure out and didn't drip everywhere.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why? It had a pleasant smell, not overpowering but laundry smelt clean and fresh and soft. Didn't dislike anything.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/05/2016 21:33

Lordy! I only received my bottle yesterday and have done one wash with it (currently drying outside on patio). I hope I get a few weeks to leave my feedback.

NapoleonsNose · 05/05/2016 21:35

Q1 - I like the compact bottle size. With a small kitchen and limited cupboard space, bigger bottles have to stay on the floor and look cluttered. This one fits nicely under the sink.
Q2 - I like the smell, it seemed to last as well. I didn't notice than clothes were any softer than usual though. It's relatively expensive so unless it was on offer, I'm not sure I'd buy it again.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to test it though!

Marsis · 05/05/2016 21:45

I liked the compact pack size I realised I was I was currently using a similar product 'comfort intense'. The spout and cup is quite narrow and I always seem to spill it but that's probably just my clumsy nature.

I found it didn't leave such a strong smell on clothes as my usual softener. Still felt nice and soft though. I would buy it for a new baby where you don't want an overwhelming scent but I don't think i would swap from the comfort intense range

Eyre89 · 05/05/2016 21:58

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

Love the fragrance and the softness of the items after a wash.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

Love the fragrance and softness, some softners don't give the softness.

However I did a darks load today and it felt and you could see white patches of residue. I rinsed on a rinse cycle which didn't clear it so I had to do a full cycle to clean it. I did measure so not sure why, it has never happened before.

If on offer I may buy it but it's more expensive than my usual one at it's rrp.

woodwaj · 05/05/2016 21:59

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product? It looked good, smelt nice in the bottle, handy spout to pour it out.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why? I liked that it was much smaller than my regular bottle, It is a nice shape and pleasant to look at. Easy to pour. Clothes did feel softer than usual. I was disappointed in the smell of the clothes out of the washer, I would prob only buy it on offer as id use more than recommended for a nicer smell. Or I would use along side those scent booster things!

Heavenscent86 · 05/05/2016 21:59

I use comfort pure fabric conditioner for washing anyway and find the scent to be very pleasant and fresh. I was excited to be given the opportunity to try this concentrated version of comfort pure. I really like the bottle. The compact size is perfect for my tiny kitchen and it is easy to measure out the amount you need. I was surprised how little I needed. My clothes still felt the same as normal so I take this to mean that the concentrated version is as good as the normal version of comfort pure. I believe I would buy this product again.

TooMuchCheesecake · 05/05/2016 22:09
  1. Overall impression was good. I liked the compact size of the bottle, and it left my washing feeling soft. It also smelt very clean and fresh. Very nice.
  2. I really liked how easy it was to pour the liquid out into the lid. My usual fabric conditioner does not have a spout. I also liked how my washing smelt and felt after using the fabric conditioner, very soft and fresh.
hanliying · 05/05/2016 22:12

Like the product. The size is smaller than normal bottle size which makes it easier to grab. The smell is lovely not too strong, which serves well, especially with small kids.

wonkybumcrack · 05/05/2016 22:15

Q1 washing came out smelling nice. Was nice and soft when it dried.

Q2 was exactly the same as normal comfort pure just in a smaller bottle with a smaller dose. Great that the bottle is smaller as it saves me struggling with a big bottle when doing my shopping as I am a non driver so I tend to walk home with shopping. Washing came out smelling lovely and was soft on dc's skin.

AvocadoOnToast · 05/05/2016 22:17

Overall impression - bottle doesn't look very different to standard Comfort Pure, so I would just assume it was a smaller bottle of the same product on the shelf.

I liked the fragrance, smelt lovely on opening the washing machine after the cycle had finished, but after the clothes had dried on the line they didn't smell of it any more, nor did they feel particularly soft. I wouldn't buy this in future as I'd still end up using the same amount as I usually do to get the effects, but for a vastly inflated price.

I usually use standard Comfort Pure and feel that does the job much more effectively.

HouseOfMadness · 05/05/2016 22:25

I loved the smell of the fabric conditioner and clothes smelt fresh and were soft to touch. The bottles a handy size. I would buy again but I don't tend to stick to the same softener - like to change fragrance a lot.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 05/05/2016 23:19
  1. I like the look of the bottle, and he measuring cap with spout is very easy to use.
  1. I don't like the smell I'm afraid- I find it really powdery and flowery and cloying. It's really strong on the clothes. I am a big Comfort fan usually- I use the pink intense one which to my nose smells much nicer. I didn't think the clothes seemed as soft as normal with this white one either.

Thank you very much for letting me test it though! I do so much washing that I'm always interested to try something new.

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/05/2016 00:12

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
It's a well known brand with a good reputation. The new Comfort lives up to its name.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I liked the smell. It worked well on our bedding, nice and soft, fresh smelling but not overly scented. The bottle design was good, a mixture of traditional Comfort and a more up-to-date look.

I have a large machine and live in a hard water area, so doubled the dose. I never seem to get the right number of washes from either a fabric softener or a liquid detergent.

Thanks for the opportunity to test.
:)

Stopmithering · 06/05/2016 00:23

Firstly, I have to admit to two things:

  1. I already use Comfort Pure
  2. I'm sceptical about 'concentrated' products Overall impression: I like the smaller bottle. As a bit of a bargain hunter, I often but they really big bottle, especially when it's on offer, as you get better value for many. But it is too big for my cupboard so often sits on the side, which is irritating. So small bottle = good. I have been using Comfort Pure for a while now, as I like the subtle but fresh smell. Some fabric softeners have far too strong a scent. Not this one. After two washes, I would say that the washing does feel nice and soft, although I'm not sure if they feel softer than with the normal Comfort Pure. Maybe I didn't use enough? As for the scent, I would say it is less strong. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think I would prefer the smell to be a little stronger.

What I like / dislike:
Like- smaller bottle, softness of clothes, nice scent
Dislike- would prefer stronger scent.
As for the price, I only ever buy stuff like this when it's on offer or seems like good value for money, so I sort of ignore RRP and go by whatever the supermarket is trying to sell it for. If it were cheaper than the usual Comfort Pure, I'd buy it. If not, I wouldn't.

Thank you for including me in the product test.

foxymama1983 · 06/05/2016 02:18

I found that it smells nice inthe container, but doesn't leave much smell after the washing has finished.Didn't really leave the clothing any softer.I wouldn't buy unless it was on offer.

duggerlugs · 06/05/2016 06:12

. I liked the smell and did feel the clothes were soft but not noticeably softer than standard comfort or others. The small bottle as others have said is easier to put away or fit on shelf.

It's expensive so would only purchase on offer really

WarmHugs · 06/05/2016 06:34

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product? It smelled nice when I put a lot in the wash, but the clothes were not soft. I don't normally use a fabric conditioner, and there was no difference in softness.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why? I liked the smell, it was fresh. I disliked having to use double the amount to reach that smell.

DurhamDurham · 06/05/2016 07:08

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

I like the bottle, it's neat and small. It looks 'pure', the white design conveys the message that it's suitable for sensitive skin. If had a new born baby I'd be drawn to it as I'd think it would be gentle on the skin.
I think I like the fact that you use a small dose but in reality I couldn't just bring myself to use on 15mls, I couldn't help but add an extra bit. I do the same with washing powder as well.......and coffee!
I think the price is ok if it's used as it should be, not if you're suing extra like I did. I've more laundry to do at the weekend so I'll have another go then and just use the recommended amount.
The bottle fits in the overcrowded cupboard in my until it's room which is a bonus as if I buy a big one it has to sit out on the worktop and I'm not a fan of cluttered worktops.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

I like the size and the design.
I like the smell
Clothes felt softer and came out of the tumble dryer without many creases which cuts down on the ironing my husband has to do, he will be v pleased!
I'm struggling to only use 15mls, but that's an issue with me rather than the product

I'll buy some more when this bottle runs out as I liked the way our laundry smelled and felt after using it and it will cut down on ironing.

Thanks for the opportunity to test this Mumsnet Smile

TrixieBernadette · 06/05/2016 07:22

Think mine is at the post office, so picking up today. I use the original comfort pure mostly - but this week fairy was on offer, so will be interesting to see how this holds up as when I switch to fairy the smell overwhelms the house!

NotMrsTumble · 06/05/2016 07:26

Overall impression: same comfort smell and performance, even with the tiny dose.
Like/dislike: smaller bottle easier to carry & store, not convinced it will do 38 washes, esp as caught dp not measuring and just pouring into the washing machine drawer.

yoomoo · 06/05/2016 07:55

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Overall I like it, the smell is lovely and made the house smell when the tumble dryer was going. It also didn't annoy any sensitive skin as per the normal one. The small bottle is great and the dispenser/measure lid is easy to use. I wouldn't pay £3.30 for a bottle but would buy it when on offer, I won't pay full price for any household products though so it's not anything against Comfort! Just wait for the offers and stock up :)
Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I like the smell as it's very fresh and the size of the bottle is handy for storing in the utility cupboard amongst everything else! The only thing I don't like is the price as mentioned above but I'm sure it will be on offer regularly anyway so I'd just stock up then.
Thanks for letting me test it Smile more washing to be done today!

AmyInTheBoonies · 06/05/2016 08:03

Q1: The small bottle is easy to store compared to the normal sized ones. The spout makes it easy to pour a precise amount into the lid.
Thought it had a plain design, may not have caught my eye in a supermarket.

Q2: I liked that my laundry was noticeably less creased after using the softener. This is a big plus for me and the reason I will buy again.
I didn't like the smell however, I found it cloying so I hope they're are other options as it was quite strong and made the room where the dryer was smell of that scent for 24 hours.

Stej7 · 06/05/2016 08:14

I currently use the non concentrated version of this fabric conditioner. I particularly liked the smaller bottles due to storage. I like to buy bulk when on offer so smaller bottle size is perfect as I can stock up. The bottle size is perfect for pouring more accurately the volume of concentrate required, compared to larger bottles. I achieved the same great smell and softness using the reduced volume of concentrate. I particularly like that the smell is not overpowering so ideal for washing baby/ children's clothing. It also is great for my eczema prone sensitive skin.

The only dislike I had was with the bottle design. I found the bottle difficult to handle when it got wet e.g due to drips. The shape of the bottle made it quite slippery. The current bottle I use has a handle which makes it easier to pour. However this is a sacrifice I would be willing to make to not have to pour from larger bottles.
