This is the feedback thread for the 500 Mumsnetters who tested Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate.

Here’s what Comfort has to say: “We are pleased to launch the NEW Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate. Following our fantastic launch of Comfort Intense last year, we were keen to offer an extension of this format suitable for sensitive skin. Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate offers the same loved fragrance, amazing softness and performance as Comfort Pure, number 1 laundry brand for sensitive skin*, but from just a tiny dose! Just one cap (15ml) is needed in your washing load and comes in a convenient small pack, either 38 washes or 64 washes from most major retailers. Incredible softness, from just a tiny dose!”

*Based on AC Nielsen, MAT value sales, 19/03/16.

I really liked this product. It smelled nice and gave off a lovely but not overpowering scent thorought the day. My clothes felt fresh and soft. The bottle was a good size for the cupboard and easy to pour.
I was very happy with the product and I will definitely be buying Comfort Pure Ultra Concentrate from now on.

MisBit1 · 18/05/2016 14:43

I usually use comfort pure and have since shortly before my son was born. I like the smell, our clothes are always soft and it doesn't cause any skin irritation. The only thing I disliked about the original product was the size of the bottle made it difficult to store and it had to sit out on the side. For this reason I was keen to see whether the new concentrated version would be as good as the original and it is!

I've done 4 loads of washing now, including bedding and have been unable to notice any difference. Just as with the original my clothes are soft with a subtle clean smell. I was concerned that the change may irritate my LO's skin but he has been fine.

Other than the size of the bottle my favourite feature is the pouring spout, I usually end up with dried softener coating the edge of the bottle but the spout means no spills.

From now on we'll be switching to this (and storing it tidily in the cupboard)!

mummyeme · 18/05/2016 19:32

1). I too really liked the convenient small size of the bottle, both for carrying it home and for lessening environmental waste. The bottle looked appealing and of quality.

  1. The fresh smell was lovely when I added it too the wash but very, very subtle after washing. Personally I'd prefer the after wash scent to be stronger. I've also bought other scented conditioners from this range and they too are very subtle after washing. Clothes felt nice and soft after being washed. Value-wise this to me is on the more expensive side but the convenience may compensate for that.
Lilbratz · 18/05/2016 20:24

So far I've done 4 loads of washing using the NEW comfort pure.

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
I have always loved comfort pure, reminds me of the first wash of my daughters baby clothes. I like the bottle size and design.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
I love the smell in the bottle but on the clothes it didn't smell as strong which was disappointing. The clothes didn't feel as soft as my normal conditioner either. The smell might be ok for some but for me not strong enough.

I think I would only buy this if it was on special offer, otherwise I think its too expensive for the amount of washing I do daily and would use a lot to get the right softness and scent.

chanice · 18/05/2016 21:08

If I'm honest the bottle does finish quicker than I thought even when correctly dosing

JackandDiane · 18/05/2016 21:40

i am not convinced it is different enough to make me change

caffeine99 · 18/05/2016 22:14

My overall impression was that this was a high quality product that could be trusted and stored easily.

I loved the smaller sized bottle as it was easier to carry, store and pour from.

I liked the produt's appearance and smell but I didn't feel like the smell was obvious following a regular wash. I liked that The product didn't irritate my baby's skin.

One downside was that this didn't seem to make my clothes as soft as the regular Comfort Pure that I use. Although maybe this is because I was drying clothes outside in the warm weather as opposed to in the tumble dryer.

Emmyd30 · 19/05/2016 10:53

Great new compact fabric conditioner that takes less space under my sink with the same lovely smell and soft feel to my family of six clothes.
Easy to pour, great value although with my familys skin i tend not to scrimp on these products.

JoMalones · 20/05/2016 12:31
  1. Nice to have smaller bottle as space is a premium but with branding easily recognised.
  1. I like the smell (as always, fresh but not overpowering). the lid was also fab
TheWildRumpyPumpus · 20/05/2016 16:41

Q1 - yes I liked it - seemed much the same as my usual Comfort conditioner but takes up less space!

Q2 - liked the smell, clothes seem soft and liked the smaller space taken up. Would depend on cost per use whether I bought it over the usual.

starryskies78 · 23/05/2016 13:38

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
I loved the size of the bottle as not much space in our laundry area. I also love the scent of the product. I think it left the clothes smelling lovely and fresh and I can noticeably smell the aroma when the washing is hanging on the line.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
n/a

BigGreenOlives · 23/05/2016 18:28

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product? It didn't seem to do much. I don't normally use a fabric conditioner so was interested to try one.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why? Bottle was small which is good but I'm still not sure what sort of wash you can use it in - it doesn't say on the label. I thought that you weren't supposed to use conditioner on towels as it stopped their absorbency or on clothes with lycra/elastic as it rotted them. I am worried about ruining my clothes & not sure what the benefits of the product are.

DillieDoily · 25/05/2016 10:32

Q1- overall impression. I really liked the concept of smaller bottles/ extra concentrated- better for the environment and better for storing in my packed cupboards.

Q2- liked the size of the bottle, the scent and the softness of clothes. Disliked- would prefer the scent to last longer

MrsKwazii · 25/05/2016 12:37

Q1 First impressions were that the smaller bottle size is great for storage and being able to easily pick it up - sometimes the bigs ones are like lifting weights! Less packaging better for the environment too, so big thumbs up.

Q2 I like comfort anyway, the smell is subtle unlike other overpowering ones you can get. Lots of sensitive skin in this house and clothes washed in this were just fine on tiny (and not so tiny) bods

MackerelOfFact · 26/05/2016 08:36

Can I just make one more comment about something that is niggling now that I've used this for a couple of weeks? The pouring spout faces the wrong way! Like most OCD people I store my products with the labels facing outwards so I can grab them easily - but if you grab this bottle with your right hand and then go to pour it, it ends up going everywhere because the spout is designed to be poured with the label facing away or with the left hand.

As I said, a tiny thing, but it's been winding me up!

Choccybadger · 27/05/2016 19:26

I love this product. It gives a really warm, comforting smell from clothes drying in the house. My DDs have sensitive skin and have both commented that they love the feel and smell of it.
A big thumbs up from us

TrixieBernadette · 28/05/2016 07:57

Mackerel I agree. The spout needs to be turned round!

Line dried my washing yesterday and it smelt beautiful. One of DSs friends at school apparently could tell his school jumper was his in the pile as it was the one that smelt nice! I hate over powering fabric conditioner, this is lovely.

Word of warning though, don't use it on running/gym clothes. Urgh it went yucky!

PB01 · 29/05/2016 11:27

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?
Overall, I loved the packaging and size of bottle. The compact side makes it easier to carry and hold, and the spout made it easier to pour. Clothes maintained their softness, but fragrance was only noticeable when clothes were tumble dried.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?
For the purpose of this test I have washed small, medium, and large load sizes. Used a variety of quick washes, cotton washes, full wash (long cycle), 30, 40, 60 degree washes. My clothes have been line dried, tumble dried, and dried on indoor airer. I also live in Scotland where the water is 'softer' and therefore might have a bearing on my findings.

LIKE
Bottle size - Loved the compact bottle size. With a family of 6, and mountains of washing, I normally buy the family size bottle which is very heavy and takes up loads of space in the cupboard. The smaller size is easier to pour, gentler on the wrists (as mine are quite weak), and easier to store. I've added a picture to show a comparison of bottle size. The ultra concentrated bottle is for 38 washes. The large bottle is for 85 washes. Even if I bought 2 small bottles it would still take up less room than my usual bottle.

Spout - I liked the pouring spout, although you have to make sure it's facing the right way or you will spill the liquid (lesson learned the hard way!).

Lid - The shape of the lid makes it easy to hold when pouring, and the lid also 'clicks' closed ensuring there are no leakages.

Softness - The laundry items felt silky, smooth after use irrespective of whether they were line dried, air dried or tumble dried.

DISLIKE
Fragrance - The ultra concentrated liquid smells the same as the normal comfort pure softener when contained within the bottle. However, there is little fragrance on the fabric after washing. The fragrance was not really noticeable on clothes line dried or air dried. The fragrance is only noticeable in very small wash loads, and when clothes are tumble dried. Perhaps the heat of the drier releases the fragrance better? The fragrance was still noticeable on laundry tumble dried a few days after washing. I would prefer the scent to be present at all times as tumble drying clothes isn't always economical.

Cost - The ultra concentrated bottle costs £3.50. The bottle contains 570ml and based on the smaller wash size (4-5kg) which equates to 38 washes, each wash would cost you 9 pence. If you have a bigger wash load (6-7kg) which equates to 17 washes per bottle, then each wash would cost you 20 pence. In comparison, a normal bottle of comfort pure would cost 7 pence per 4-5kg load, and 11 pence per 6-7kg load. It would therefore not be cost effective to buy the smaller bottle unless it was cheaper, or on offer.

Sorry for late reply I have only just received my tester.

I liked the look of the bottle easier to store as I don't have much storage in my house and was shocked when I measured out the correct amount how little you use.

I have always used comfort since I've had children and didn't find it any different to the normal comfort I use. Although is there actually enough for 38 washes I don't kno

Thank you for letting me be a tester :)

BatmanLovesMarmite · 29/05/2016 17:41

Overall impression - very similar to usual Comfort but in a much smaller, handier bottle.

Like:
*compact size of bottle
*pouring spout
*easy to pour

Dislike:
*scent a bit weak for me, but I suspect if other fragrances were released I would find one I liked

sally2489 · 04/06/2016 00:06

My overall impression of the comfort pure was of pleasant surprise, as there was no noticeable difference in the quality of the washed clothes, and a little bit definitely did go a very long way!
I liked the small size of the bottle, the colour of the liquid, smell and overall effectiveness of it.
The only thing I can suggest is that the fact that you only need a tiny dose in the wash should be emphasised more, as I had to remind my sister to one put a tiny capful of it in the wash.

WhenDoISleep · 09/06/2016 13:30

Apologies for the late feedback.

Q1: What was your overall impression of the product?

We really liked it. The smell was nice and it the clothes stayed soft.

Q2: What did you like/dislike about the product? Why?

The size of the bottle was good for easy storage. The spout made pouring a little awkward.

Yorkstone · 10/06/2016 11:49

I don't normally use fabric conditioner as I normally just go with a eco friendly laundry washer and we have sport tech clothing in every wash. I like the small bottle as this reduces waste adding some refill packs to the range would make the bottle more reusable.

I liked the smell on the clothes and I can tell the difference between those clothes washed using the conditioner and those not; in terms of smell and softness. The school t shirts are definitely softer and easier to iron. I am concerned that the fabric conditioner may clog/make ineffective the sport tech fabrics, if you could answer this question that would assist decision making?
My other concern beyond plastic wastage is the amount of chemicals that adding a fabric softener adds to the clothes and that my children are exposed to? Again response to this would be useful!

DebbieWobbs · 13/06/2016 21:50

I liked that the bottle was smaller than my regular fabric conditioner and that as it was concentrated I didn't need to use so much. The fragrance in the bottle was lovely and left my clothes with a light but pleasant fragrance which lasted a few days on some bed linen I used it on. The fabrics I used it on were very soft after use. I sometimes suffer from itchy skin with some fabric conditioners but I didn't with this one.Its perfect to use for the whole family.
