This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested an item of school uniform from the Matalan Teflon Stain Resistant Range.

Here’s what Matalan say “Our Teflon stain resistant coating is designed to repel water and stains, restricting stains from absorbing into the fabric. We know kids will be kids and we want to help you keep them looking smart for school and make sure their school uniform lasts.”

Testers, please complete the feedback questions below but please feel free to add any other comments you may have. Please state which item of clothing you tested. Please also remember to complete the survey we sent you to be entered into the £300 Love2Shop voucher prize draw.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks, MNHQ .

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically? I knew they did school uniforms, but had never bought any from there. I wasn’t aware of the Teflon range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested? Very good, nice design, good quality fabric, good fit, washed well.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer. Compared very well; we usually by from a mix of marks and spencer and sainsburys. The material felt better quality, fit was true to size, we loved the style and my DS thought they were comfortable.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
Very likely to go to Matalan for uniform in the future; the material feels more indestructible and less likely to get holes in the knees than other brands. We also like the designs available. Good value too.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend in terms of indestructability and good value.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically? Yes aware Matalan sold uniform, but not of the details of the range, ie number of styles or stain resistance.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested? Overall very pleased with the quality, fit and style. The stain resist benefit hasn't really been tested yet.
Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer. Better fit as I cant usually buy skirts that fit my daughter who is tall and slim. It was good to have the adjustors but it did bunch a lot around her waist which was a bit unsightly and uncomfortable. Otherwise the style is lovely with pretty embroidery detail and soft fabric.the fabric is thinner than M&S uniform but better than Asda.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms? Likely although my local store had quite a few sizes out of stock which is a bit off-putting.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes for the nice material pretty styles, but not for stock availability.
Thank you for choosing me for this trial.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?

I was aware that they did school uniform, I was not specifically aware of the Teflon range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?

I got a pair of black trousers with the pleat at the front. I bought age 9 for Ds1 who is 9. He is a scrawny whatsit whose age 8 from Sainsbury's are starting to get a little short. The age 9 is a bit on the long side. The waist is pulled in tight but that's standard for ds1. I was hoping to try the slim fit for him but they didn't have it in the shop. The fit is ok, he says they are comfy and he is pretty fussy but they are rather baggy on the bum. I'd say the Sainsbury's ones are a better fit.

They have washed well. Time will tell how well they survive, can't really say how well they stand up compared with others on a short test period like this. Fabric seems good though and they ironed well (or at least dh hasn't complained while ironing!) and the pleat hasn't dropped out on washing. We got M&S trousers one year and they looked terrible after washing so these are definitely better than that.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.

See above.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?

I would do if I were up that way yes. While there I picked up some summer dresses for dd and they seem like excellent value and fit her very well.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, or at least I wouldn't say it was a bad place.

BathshebaDarkstone · 26/04/2016 18:21

Oh, one more gripe: why don't they stock pinafores above age 9? DD would really have liked one.

gazzalw · 26/04/2016 19:07

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
Yes, but only because you did a similar product trial last year (I think!). I wasn't specifically aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range before being involved in this though.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
We tested a skirt for a ten year old. We have a similar one from M&S (which cost £4 more) and it's very difficult to tell them apart without looking at the labels which says it all to my mind.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
DD was disappointed that pinafore dresses weren't an option for her age-group as she prefers the looser fit over a skirt. The skirt was fairly traditional (box pleats) with an adjustable waistband (great with a very slim DD). She says that it's 'softer' than her M&S one although we don't notice any difference.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
Would do but have to say that for us it's less convenient to go to Matalan than more local branches of M&S, Sainsbury's or Asda so not sure that it's a very likely consideration TBQH.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
It was on a level with M&S uniform products so yes I guess I would recommend it (but only if they've got a branch of Matalan local to them).

However, what did really strike me was how helpful the staff were - they made most M&S staff look amateur in terms of customer service skills. And that makes all the difference when looking for uniform bits (which can test one's patience at the best of times!).

Thanks for picking us to take part in this uniform product trial Wink.

WhispersOfWickedness · 26/04/2016 20:16

My 6yo DS tested the £7 Teflon trousers.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
I was aware that Matalan sold uniform as I have been there when looking for suitable school shoes. I wasn't specifically aware of the Teflon range, although I know that other brands have similar ranges, so was not surprised to hear that Matalan also does.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
I was very impressed, they are nice looking, smart and very hardwearing. I also liked that they had elasticated waists and no button in the size we tested. They washed well and didn't need ironing.
Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
They washed a lot better and look smarter than the ones that we usually buy. However, they were about twice the price of the ones I usually buy, so I would expect that they were a lot better! I don't think there will be any bobbling issues with further use. The fit and style wasn't really any different to the usual brand, although I suppose there are only so many different styles that you can get in trousers, unlike dresses/skirts etc! DS reassures me that they are very comfortable, although he has never complained about discomfort in our usual brand either.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
I would be prepared to have a closer look at their range, but based on the trousers we tested, they are more expensive than our usual brand, and it is less convenient to visit a Matalan store, so possibly not.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would, especially if they were a family where budget wasn't an issue, the trousers were very nice quality and have washed and worn well.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
A1. I was aware of Matalan's range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test, but wasn't aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
A2. When me and my DD got to store we couldn't decide what to choose but we finally picked pinafore dress, and it is so different style and fits well (my daughter is very slim).

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
A3. It is very comfy and as I said before fit well. There was so many different and nice style to choose from (and we could only pick one) that we almost couldn't decide which one to have.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
A5. I will definitely buy more school uniforms from Mataanl range.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
A5. Of course I would recommend it. I have already done it. We only have the dress couple weeks but my little one already has managed to split some yogurt on it and ice lollies, but we washed it and it looks like new. So thank you again for having me in this project :)

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
No, I was unaware that Matalan sold uniform.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
We tested pull on school trousers for DS1 who is 7. The trousers were good quality, especially for the low cost (£6) and have washed well. DS1 is tall and slim, which is why an adjustable waist is a good option for him - it was great that this was available for his age group. We got Age 8 trousers and the leg length was good for his height, but they are baggy in the leg and bum area. This makes them look like like a bad fit, despite fitting well around the waist and length-wise. He does find them comfortable however, despite how he looks!
Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
We usually buy M&S adjustable waist trousers which are £10 a pair, and I find they are a better fit for my son's tall slim frame - not so baggy around the legs and bum. The Matalan trousers are the same comfort-wise but the M&S ones are marginally better quality and style.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
I would consider using Matalan uniform again, although probably not the trousers.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't think I would recommend these trousers, unless the child who needed them was much a much heavier build than my son.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
I was aware that Matalan did uniforms, but have never tried them before, as i never perceived them as "good" quality. I wasnt aware of the teflon range.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
I was really impressed with them, they were much better quality than i expected and washed really well.
Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
DS is quite slim, even tho, they did seem quite generous in size. He found them comfy and gave them his usual battering but they've survived quite well.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
I think I would, they seem to be long lasting and good value for money.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, they have exceeded my expectations.

ema3 · 26/04/2016 22:35

I was aware of Matalan's school uniform range, had seen it i store. I tested a pair of school shorts for my son. He has been wearing them for a few weeks now,and they still look, good as new. They wash up fine.and seem to hold the crease in the front, well. So overall,I am impressed with Matalan's school uniform range. The Teflon seems to give the material a boost. I would recommend Matalan's uniform to other's and I would go back and buy more uniform in the future.

Solo · 26/04/2016 23:55

Thank you Matalan and MNHQ for choosing us to try this item of uniform out.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?

Yes I was aware of the range of Matalan's school uniforms, but not of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?

In order to get a long enough length of skirt for my 5ft tall 9yo, I had to get the age 13 skirt size and pull the elasticated adjustable waist in substantially which makes the back of the waist band really bunched up. I was hoping that washing and giving the skirt a good shake might mean I didn't need to iron it, but that wasn't the case; it looked very creased up and although I didn't iron it, it could have done with it. The pleats were though, very crisp and once Dd had worn it a day, it looked far less creased up. The fabric seems good quality and marks that came home on it seemed to disappear somehow without any input from me!

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.

The fit was not perfect due to having to buy big in order to gain a suitable length of skirt for Dd. There was no choice of style; you just got one style per colour (please see my comments at the end of my response) except for the box pleat skirt. Dd doesn't usually wear a school skirt, but she does like it and hasn't given a negative report on comfort so I will assume it's comfortable as she'd tell me if not.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?

Not very likely as there is not enough choice of style, size or colour.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

For an average shaped/sized child, I might recommend the skirt; it washes well, dries quite quickly and marks disappear from it very mysteriously!

We were disappointed even before bringing our item home from the store. I took Dd into Matalan to get her a navy blue pinafore to test. Pinafores are only available up to age 9 (of average size and height). I particularly like pinafores for Dd as she is very slim and very tall and pinafores suit her better both in looks and in fit/shape, but we tried a skirt instead so as to be able to take part in the trial as planned. Skirts in navy blue only come in large box pleat skirts whereas we'd have liked to try one of the embroidered skirts or the flippy style which might have looked better with the amount of elastic adjustment needed. The box pleated skirt is in a choice of 4 colours, so why not the others? I was both surprised and disappointed by the lack of choice in size, style and colour.

2pandasandapig · 27/04/2016 07:48

1, I was aware of Matalans school uniform but not of the Teflon range.

2, I got my daughter a skirt and it fitted really well, a nice length and hung well. It seemed to be a nice quality of fabric not thin but not thick and itchy!

3, I was impressed, I felt it was better styled than some uniforms I've had in the past and was certainly a lot better than the uniform I recently purchased from Asda which had holes in it after a couple of wears (same child).

4, I will certainly be purchasing more uniform from Matalan in the future.

5, I have already recommended Matalan to family and friends but will do so again in the future should it come up in conversation

Tinkypen · 27/04/2016 09:54

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically? - I had seen the range before in passing but not purchased.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested? Yes, it has washed well, easy to iron and nice fit on my son. I like being about to make the waist smaller as my son is tall but small round the middle.
Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer. Its comfy and slightly longer in length than the other items we have from other places.
Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms? Yes I would consider, Being a Matalan newsletter subscriber we get the vouchers as well which would make the money go further.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would suggest this as a place to be able to pick up items, I was very impressed with the trousers, they wash well and do not feel stiff. They do not crease easily so even after a day of full on playing he is still looking (marginally) smart Smile

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?

Yes I was aware that they sold school uniform but I didn't know about this particular range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?

The trousers were of a good fit and I liked that they had different fits, slim, regular and generous.
They washed well (no stains!) and my son was happy with them.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.

They are a similar price to what I'd normally spend on school trousers and pretty much matched up in terms of fit, style and comfort.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?

They were quite limited on sizes in the store but I would definitely order online from Matalan.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would, good quality affordable trousers that can stand up to lunchtime sports and school day activities.

Defiant · 27/04/2016 11:38

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
I've bought several pieces of uniform from Matalan (trousers and 2 jumpers which are still going strong 18 months later!) but I wasn't aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
I bought the Black Pull On Boys Trousers in 5 years for my average height, skinny, 5 year old son. They cost £5. I think they're great. I was impressed with the cut and the fabric, especially for the price. They washed and tumble dried well.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
This year I bought the Asda uniforms because they're cheap and asda is local but I do prefer the Teflon Stain Resistant Matalan trousers now. I think my son feels more comfortable in them too.
The material is soft but tough (I did expect it to be stiff and scratchy). Paint, mud, glue and bolognese all washed out no problem.
DS still struggles with buttons and zips so pull on trousers work perfectly. They're a nice, simple style. He said they were comfortable and he had no problems running, jumping and sliding on his knees in them.
The waist is very generous so we did have to tighten that up a bit. They're a good length and not fitted on the legs which is nice.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
I'll definitely be buying more trousers! If Matalan made stain resistant polo shirts and jumpers for the same great price I would probably buy the whole uniform from there.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. I think the trousers are good quality and great value with a nice selection.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?

No

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?

Very impressed. Ds is always filthy by home time because of lunchtime football. I tasked him to get as dirty as possible so I could see how they washed but he couldn't manage it! He even wore the trousers for two consecutive days which never happens. They washed well and kept their creases.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.

Fit was good, brought age 11 for a tiny 12 year old and they fitted him well with a little room. Style is similar to what he already wears. He was comfortable in them.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?

Quite likely. Impressed with cost and cleanability.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have done already as I was pleasantly surprised by quality and fit.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?

8I was aware that Matalan did a school range but I wasn't aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range specifically no.8

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?

*I purchased a pair of trousers for our son. They fitted well although were a little large around the waist but then he is very slight in that area so I do struggle to find trousers which are long enough but aren't too big around the waist, the pull in sides did help a bit.

The trousers looked smart, didn't crease and washed well - I was especially impressed that they didn't stain even after our son decided to draw all over them with pen whilst at school one day, a quick wash and they were back to new again.

My son seemed really comfortable in them and said he liked wearing them which is another important thing to consider as after all he has to spend all day in them.

Originally I hadn't wanted to use the voucher to purchase a jumper as he goees through those much more quickly than he does trousers but my local Matalan didn't seem to have navy v neck jumpers in the stain resistant range which was a shame*

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.

*We have trousers that we've previous purchased from both M & S and Sainsburys and the test trousers compared well. The fit seemed better in the leg length but the waist was slightly too big - I did however purchase the next size up as he has grown taller since he started school in September and his previous trousers were starting to look slightly short in the leg.

I really liked the style. They looked more expensive and better quality than the previous pairs he has worn. They didn't have fiddly clasps or hook and eye style fastenings at the front either which he struggles with on his other pairs.

DS didn't really comment on whether they were more or less comfortable than his other pairs, he said he liked them and seemed quite happy to wear them each day without complaint *

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?

I would definitely consider it in the future as I've been very impressed with how the trousers we've been trialling have faired. I may consider purchasing more items from the range when he moves up to the next year in September and we buy new uniform. I would be especially interested to get some polo tops or jumpers if they were available.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

*Most definitely. For the price I really think the trousers have worn well and have given a good impression, they've washed well and I think look more expensive than they actually are. I know a lot of mums and we regularly talk about where to buy school uniform from and so I would definitely recomend they give the Matalan range a try when they are looking to buy new items in the future"

The item of clothing we tested was Teflon Range trousers for a 6 year old boy.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically? I was aware of Matalan's uniform range as I have previously bought school trousers from the range. I was unaware of the Teflon Range.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested? We were very pleased with the fit and the overall look of the trousers.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer. He is currently wearing M&S trousers and they are at least equally as good as them.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms? I am very likely to buy necessary uniform from Matalan.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I would definitely recommend the Matalan uniform! It is priced very fairly, it's comfortable to wear and it washes well.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?
I had previously purchased school shirts from Matalan and they were ok, had not heard of this new range before though.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?
Fabulous. My daughter adores her new school skirt so much I have had to purchase another!

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.
Very good. The style is nice - not too long (or short!) and pleats have stayed crisp and flat. The sizes may be a little small as I had an age 14 and my DD is only 12. She loves wearing it and tells me that it is very comfortable to wear.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?
Definitely. It will be my first port of call ready for September. Sadly there was not a huge amount of choice available instore - hopefully there will be a bigger range ready for the new school year.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, great quality at a good price.

Q1. Were you aware of Matalan’s range of school uniforms before taking part in this product test? If so, were you aware of the Teflon Stain Resistant Range, specifically?

No. I had no idea they did school clothes and it wouldn't have occurred to me to go to Matalan for school clothes.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of the Matalan item of school uniform you tested?

Overall I thought it was good, the style and fit were good and my DD liked the skirt and has worn it a few times since, picking it over other skirts.

Q3. How did the Matalan item of school uniform your child tested compare to the school uniform items you typically purchase? Please refer to fit, style, and comfort in your answer.

Similar to others, it didn't stand out as better or worse.

Q4. In future, how likely are you to consider purchasing an item of school uniform from Matalan if you were in need of school uniforms?

I would consider it, mainly because I have a Matalan close to where I work so it would be convenient place to go and it gives me another option.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the Matalan item of school uniform you tested to friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, but not better than others, but I would say it was a good alternative.

  1. Yes I was aware of the range, and the Teflon Stain Resistant range
  2. We tested a pair of zip fly trousers and the general impression was good, although they did seem to crease more than other trousers we have.
  3. The Matalan trousers were equal to the (supermarket) trousers that we usually buy in fit, style and comfort. They were slightly more expensive. I struggled to find trousers with a zip fly rather than a pull on style (in age 8) and these were not separated on the display stand which made the task harder.
  4. I will consider buying Matalan trousers in future, but they don’t seem to sell the navy blue polo shirts, v-neck jumpers, or hoodless zip thru fleece that we need.
  5. Yes I would recommend the item.

We had the tunic, it fitted and washed well and was a nice length for my tall 5yo without being baggy. It came up like new in the wash.

I'm sorry to say that there was nothing in the range in my local store that was both in the right size and the right colour.

Very disappointed Sad
