This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out DisneyLife.

Here’s what DisneyLife has to say, “We’re so excited to launch DisneyLife, which will give the whole family access to its biggest collection of Disney and DisneyPixar movies, Disney Channels TV box sets, books, and music, in one place. Designed to be enjoyed at home or on the go as an iOS or Android app for tablet or mobile, DisneyLife will create magical moments for the family to share: from sing-a-long songs on the way to school; to movie nights at home; children’s TV shows on the move; and enchanting bedtime stories to read with Mum and Dad. For one monthly price of £9.99, DisneyLife will give you instant access to stream thousands of Disney Channels TV episodes, hundreds of movies, albums, and books – plus a free download every month from a selection of fun Disney apps. We’d love to know what Mumsnetters think about the new offering"

Check out our bloggers review of DisneyLife in the new video:

Non-testers: What is your favourite Disney or Pixar moment? Perhaps you love the opening sequence of Up? Or maybe your favourite is the Circle of Life from The Lion King? Whatever your favourite moment is, please let us know (with a spoiler alert if necessary!) and you will be entered in to a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 DisneyStore voucher.

Testers, once you have tested DisneyLife for a little while, here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

All testers who add their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Please note DisneyLife may well use your anonymous feedback comments on their website, on social media as well as possibly elsewhere.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Non-tester My favourite Disney moment was when my daughter met Rapunzel at Disneyland Paris. She was speechless and had the biggest smile on her face. She only moved when Rapunzel said to come over. 😀

Aaargh this is so so difficult! The bit in Aladdin when the genie first appears, I think. Tricky one though!

Oh oh oh!

"Mind if I kiss the monkey? Pah! Hair ball!" (Aladdin)

My sister and I still quote this at each other and we're in our 30's!

Favourites for me have to be opening sequence to UP -just beautiful and makes me cry every time!
The Lion King -Pumba and Timon 'What do you want me to do -dress in drag and do the hula? '
The princess and the Frog -love the uplifting song almost there and Tiana's go get it attitude and shed a wee tear when the firefly dies and joins his star in the sky.

love it that my children can enjoy the films that I enjoyed as a youngster.

My review is a bit late. We went abroad and you can only use DisneyLife in the UK apparently.

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
DS 3
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
It was a pain to set up because apparently I already had an account with Disney. Turns out I had made one years ago on a trip to Disney in order to view photos. Of course I couldn't remember the password so had to faff around. After that it was straightforward.
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
DS mainly enjoyed the short classic cartoons. We have most of the other films he'd enjoy on the Sky box or iPad. He was interested in the books but got fixated with 'turning the page' so we didn't bother as he wasn't listening properly.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
Not amazing. You can get most of it elsewhere. Also things which they are still making a lot of money from elsewhere are not available. Like Inside Out which is out on DVD but not available here.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
It looks lovely. It was easy to use with Apple TV. Initial wow factor wore on when realised we had most of the viewing content elsewhere.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not unless they don't subscribe to any other kind of TV service.

The app froze for us when we tried to pause on more than one occasion.

Not being able to use overseas was a real dealbreaker for us as that's when we rely on iPad the most.

ataraxia · 21/02/2016 23:19

Non-tester - I really liked the smaller Disney films as a kid - Robin Hood, Basil The Great Mouse Detective and The Rescuers. There's a scene in Robin Hood where one of the bunny children welled up with tears. I can't remember why but the image has stuck with me. There's also a scene where it's dark and rainy and everyone's starving, the threat seemed more real than in the fantasy and fairytale films.

Favourite Disney moment for us all - when Pongo and Perdita have puppies (101 Dalmations!)

My favourite disney moment is when Jack (nightmare before Christmas) lands in Christmas Town and breaks into What's This? I'm a massive Christmas girl and never fail to watch Nightmare Before Christmas each Halloween and Christmas, singing word for word, with my Dad every year, it's now a tradition which will hopefully carry on!

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
My dd age 9
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
Very easy
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
We mainly listened to the disney albums, lots of singing and dancing Smilewatched a few phineas and ferb programmes.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
A lot to choose from
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
Not bad but quite pricey
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably would but i think the price would put others off too.

I have always loved Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid, and for comedy the moment when she is seated at the dinner table with her prince, spots the fork and in a moment of exhilaration at recognising a familiar object, snatches it up and begins to comb her hair, only to shamefacedly set it down a moment later when she realises everyone is staring. I think everyone can identify with that moment of awkwardness as a gauche newcomer trying to fit in.

My favourite disney moment is in Beauty and the Beast with the song 'something there that wasnt there before' - when i watched that when it was first out and i was 8 years old i thought it was just the most romantic thing ever! Belle is still my favourite princess!

My favourite Disney moment is the part where Anna unfreeze and fall into Elsa's arms. It really is true love 💜

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 13/03/2016 11:52

Tester. Coming back again because we're nearly at the end of the trial.

DisneyLife is meant to be compatible with Apple TV, but I've found it incredibly frustrating to try and use. The app works smoothly enough if just viewing on the iPad, but if I try to connect to Apple TV, it often logs me out or just shows one episode, after which I need to log in and reconnect again.

I don't think we could justify £9.99 a month for DisneyLife. Maybe over the winter, but definitely not now the weather is getting good. We really haven't used it at all in the last couple of weeks.

My DC have loved some of the Disney content that they'd never seen before. We watched a couple of my favourite old Disney films and discovered Sofia the First. DD1 loves the theme song from the to series now and likes us to play it (repeatedly) so she can sing along and dance around the living room.

Thanks for including us in the product test.

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 14/03/2016 13:02

Tester

I have little to write about the app unfortunately.
We was unable to use it on the smart tv or kindle at all so no family viewing.
My eldest children used on iPads but it kept signing them out. They stopped trying to use it after a week as it was too frustrating for them to keep getting me to sort it out.

Content is poor, not everything on there as I would expect for £10 a month!!
No frozen, inside out etc

Pleased I had the test and didn't waste my money.

Cataline · 14/03/2016 13:02

Another additional tester comment here- DS has loved having DisneyLife and has requested that I tell you that he is "DEVASTATED" that I've said we can no longer continue with it as £10 per month is not a justifiable expense. Grin
On another note, he has asked me to enquire when his DisneyStore voucher for being a video tester might arrive...?
Thanks for letting us be part of the test- it's very much appreciated!

avelte · 14/03/2016 18:33

My children loved it, also I manage to share with few friends and they were really happy about it.
Was easy to set up and easy to cancel few days ago. The range of films was quite good to choose from :)

Silky2015 · 15/03/2016 08:55

Testers, once you have tested DisneyLife for a little while, here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?

My 6 yr old and 3 yr old daughter.

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?

It wasn't great. Signing in and registering was fairly quick and simple but whenever we logged in yo the app, it seemed to throw us out again. This really put me off as it was constant asking to re sign in. Especially when down loading the songs.

  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?

The Disney films, the music and looked at a book.

  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?

To be honest,I was quite disappointed overall. To pay £10 a month was really expensive, when most of the content is available on other cheaper streaming sites and a lot was the old stuff which is available on you tube anyway. There was quite a bit of stuff for older girls, so that may appeal to some but again nothing particularly new.

  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?

I have to say it was disappointing and I'm really surprised how they have priced this. I 'me not sure I would even subscribe for 3.99 a month. The app needs some work to stop kicking uses out. I also think if you are downloading songs/ audio books this should be available for a period of time when not on wi fi. That would have been great whilst on long journeys to have audio books, even if they were for one week before they disappeared off again, and the music. I would pay for that (although not £10)

  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? No I don't think I would sorry. We have had t for three months, and the girls have had access to it but rarely tapped on to it. So I guess their actions speak for themselves.
Anj123 · 15/03/2016 10:33

Non tester. I love the bit when Bambi is trying to walk!
