This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out DisneyLife.

Here’s what DisneyLife has to say, “We’re so excited to launch DisneyLife, which will give the whole family access to its biggest collection of Disney and DisneyPixar movies, Disney Channels TV box sets, books, and music, in one place. Designed to be enjoyed at home or on the go as an iOS or Android app for tablet or mobile, DisneyLife will create magical moments for the family to share: from sing-a-long songs on the way to school; to movie nights at home; children’s TV shows on the move; and enchanting bedtime stories to read with Mum and Dad. For one monthly price of £9.99, DisneyLife will give you instant access to stream thousands of Disney Channels TV episodes, hundreds of movies, albums, and books – plus a free download every month from a selection of fun Disney apps. We’d love to know what Mumsnetters think about the new offering"

Check out our bloggers review of DisneyLife in the new video:

Non-testers: What is your favourite Disney or Pixar moment? Perhaps you love the opening sequence of Up? Or maybe your favourite is the Circle of Life from The Lion King? • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?

My DS who is five has been the main tester.

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?

It honestly couldn't have been easier, super easy to log in,download and v intuitive to use.

  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?

We watched all of the Christmas content over the festive time and the Pixar shorts are fab. We all loved Presto.

  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?

The range is great, it's revolutionised our viewing world to have so much Disney at our fingertips. I'm loving it almost as much as DS.

  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?

We think DisneyLife is just brilliant. Having so much Disney Magic at our fingertips is what we've been waiting for. We keep a close eye on what DS watches and it is great that we know anything on DisneyLife will be fine for him.

  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have already. It's just brilliant!

In case it's not obvious from the above I am totally delighted with DisneyLife. I initially thought it was quite expensive for what it is, but that was before I tried it. There is so much quality content that it makes it worth every penny, despite not physically having the films to keep.

We can't wait to explore it more.

Both DCs aged 2 and 9 helped test.

We found it easy to install and really easy to use.

Films/programmes: Aladdin, 1&2 (we didn't know it's a trilogy), lots of shorts, Lion King 2 and Mulan 2. DH wants us to watch the nature documentaries as they look good (eldest loves that sort of thing). Shame the HSM films or Brave aren't on there, even though music soundtracks are.

Range of content: I presume this is a test version as there isn't a huge amount on offer. Nothing exclusive to the app, a lot of this could be found on Netflix. DCs not interested in the books.

It is a nice product, well-designed, it's just the content we have an issue with. Our avid square-eyed watchers will get through what's on offer and then get bored. For us, it's not worth the money - it costs a similar amount to the TV licence! I didn't know you could download a free app each month - that might make it slightly better value.

If a friend's child loved Disney (or Pixar like me Grin) and would enjoy watching or doing the same thing repeatedly then I would definitely recommend. Unfortunately mine don't (unless it is repeat viewings of The Birds, which I already have on DVD).

Tester. My DCs aged 7 and 5 helped in testing this out.
how easy did you find it to use
I found it easy to install, just followed instructions. So far, nothing has happened as other pp about being locked out and having to relog in again. The kids found it very easy to navigate finding their favourite movies, mini movies and tv shows.

which films/programmes did we watch and what did we think about them
They watched dinosaur, Wall-e so far. They also watched mini movies from frozen and cars. And other cartoons. They thought they were great.

what did you think about the range of content
I thought it was a good range of content but there wasn't the frozen which dd wanted. Thankfully we have them on did anyway!

what was your overall impression
I thought it was fine and seemed interactive.

would you recommend it
I would recommend it if you didn't already have Amazon or Netflix. But to pay nearly £10/month to access only Disney - I think it's too much.

Thanks for the opportunity to test this out.

-Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
My 3 year old daughter and 18 month old son.

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?

It is very easy to use. My daughter loves the fact she can have various characters as her profile.
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?

We watched the Lion King and most of the added content with that, the Tinkerbell films, Frozen Fever, some of the Christmas content, Minnie's Bow Toons, Sophia the First and Doc McStuffin.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?

There is a good range of content. I like the fact there are shorter things to watch. Also we like the music and had the Christmas songs on to dance to.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?

I really like it and so do my children. However like a I of others have said I do think it is expensive and won't be carrying on once the free trial is over. You can buy the dvd's cheaper each month and the extra content is nice but I couldn't justify the cost on that alone. Some little games would be nice too.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would but I would also warn them about the cost.

TESTER:

Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
2yo DS

How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
Easy to signup and logon, bit annoying had to add card details for a trial.

Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
So far we have watched Frozen, Frozen Fever, Lion King from my laptop. We enjoyed the films and have seen them before.

What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
Huge range of films and some i haven't seen since i was a child.

What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
We really enjoyed watching Disney Life and its trial, but from the price of £9.99 a month i just dont think its worth it. We also have Sky and its movie channels so from that we have most of the Disney movies anyway. MY son is a repeater and loves to watch things over and over until he knows the movie then moves on to another. So over Christmas he has loved Toy story 3 and have watched it quiet a few times and before that it was Ratatolie. So what im trying to say is it might be worth me buying the DVD for my son at a cheaper price than the DisneyLife.
I think there should be a discount on your first few months it sounds better than one month free, also its not like you will use it as a daily thing anyway so maybe a pay as you use sort of thing might be better.

Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes i would and already have but at the price of £9.99 a month they have already been put off.

Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
3 x DS (6), (7), (9)
How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
I was streaming through my laptop. I didn't find it too tricky to set up, but found the categories and scrolls weren't that helpful in searching. We found more that we wanted when we clicked on show all, but that wasn't obvious. I would quite like the opportunity to search on age rating as my boys were really enthusiastic about some films they saw but it wasn't obvious what the rating was.

Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
We watched a couple of the old ones (I was particularly keen on Beauty and the Beast but the boys weren't that enthusiastic!) National Treasure. I was very disappointed that there was no opportunity to subject them to another round of Frozen songs. They were delighted.

What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
I was a little disappointed. There weren't that many films that we can't get from Amazon Prime, which means that it wouldn't be worth us spending the 9.99 a month.

What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
If we didn't have Prime and were mainly looking for family films it would be fine, but still expensive.

Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't think I would recommend it - for the reasons given above (lack of distinct content and price).

Tester...

Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
My almost four year old son
How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
The Initial setup was the hardest part for me, I apparently already had an account despite never using DisneyLife before, it appears it links to your profile if you have purchased from Disney previously. Once we finally got that sorted I found DisneyLife incredibly easy to operate, very user friendly and even my four year old could operate himself when he wanted to choose something different. Simply clicking on different characters was the easiest part.
Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
We watched quite a few things we have previously watched such as Lion King and Toy Story, but they are firm favourites with my 4yo so he was happy to just keep watching. He also enjoyed Frozen Fever which he's seen parts of before. We also had some of the book during our book time and they were fun as they were something new, and enjoyable. Personally I really enjoyed the music part as you can't beat some Disney music.
What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
I like that there was a variety of different things on offer, such as films, books, music and loved there was classic films as well as the new ones too. I feel there could be more parts on offer, but maybe this is something which will come within the future, maybe some games too
What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
Overall, we loved the app but I feel there could be more too it, maybe the hype surrounding the adverts etc made my expectations quite high?^
Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't think I would purchase the app at £9.99 a month possibly because I don't feel there is enough on offer to keep my son entertained. We own quite a few of the films on DVD already, maybe if more films were on offer and if more things were available such as games etc I would consider the subscription. However saying that when we've been shopping or had long car journeys it's nice to have the films and books on hand to keep them entertained. I would recommend it to friends and family who didn't own many Disney DVDs as it would be fab for that, and if more content was added I would.

Good idea I just feel there isn't enough on offer.

Tester. My Dd aged 5
how easy did you find it to use?
Easy enough to install but the logging in every time Is too tricky for my five year old so she can't use it without help resulting in her just using the other apps which she doesn't need to log onto each time.

which films/programmes did we watch and what did we think about them
she watched all her favourites, princess films and a few shorts.

what did you think about the range of content
I thought it was a good range but would expect to see all the disney fms on a disney app.

what was your overall impression
It was ok, nothing spectacular and my daughter prefers Netflix

would you recommend it
No because you can get Netflix or Amazon for less and that has lots of other things to view on it

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife? Both my girls aged 7 and 9

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife? Very easy to use, the children can easily navigate on the ipads. The initial setup was quick and easy and it is useful that it remembers what you have watched if you stop half way through a programme.

  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these? Frozen Fever was a real favourite then the children started working their way through the the old disney films and have really enjoyed seeing these, as have I!

  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?

A really good range, my eldest wants to start on the older more real life disney series now.

  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife? Both children have asked to watch and enjoyed the varietyon offer.

  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

The downside for me is that the children have to watch on the small screen of the iPad, I tried on the smart tv watching via the web browser but this wasn't possible.

The cost is also expensive in comparison to Amazon unlimited for kids and Netflix etc which is a shame.

I would still mention it as an option to friends but in all honesty at £9.99 a month I am unlikely to continue after the trial.
