This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out DisneyLife.

Here’s what DisneyLife has to say, “We’re so excited to launch DisneyLife, which will give the whole family access to its biggest collection of Disney and DisneyPixar movies, Disney Channels TV box sets, books, and music, in one place. Designed to be enjoyed at home or on the go as an iOS or Android app for tablet or mobile, DisneyLife will create magical moments for the family to share: from sing-a-long songs on the way to school; to movie nights at home; children’s TV shows on the move; and enchanting bedtime stories to read with Mum and Dad. For one monthly price of £9.99, DisneyLife will give you instant access to stream thousands of Disney Channels TV episodes, hundreds of movies, albums, and books – plus a free download every month from a selection of fun Disney apps. We’d love to know what Mumsnetters think about the new offering"

Check out our bloggers review of DisneyLife in the new video:

Non-testers: What is your favourite Disney or Pixar moment? Perhaps you love the opening sequence of Up? Or maybe your favourite is the Circle of Life from The Lion King? Whatever your favourite moment is, please let us know (with a spoiler alert if necessary!) and you will be entered in to a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 DisneyStore voucher.

I love the scene in Mary Poppins up on the roof when the chimney sweeps are singing and dancing. I also love the Portobello Road song and dance sequence in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

My favourite Disney moment has to be the Christmas parade at DLP. I don't think there was a single person there who couldn't feel the magic!

Iamnotanugget · 29/12/2015 21:39

My favourite film is the original Cinderella but I have a soft spot for Jessie's song in Toy Story 2 as it was my dd's favourite moment for a long time.

My favourite Disney moment has to be just before Christmas when Jungle Book was on the telly.
I have never seen it and during their little lives my two children have never sat and watched a whole film.
We all cosied up together to enjoy Jungle Book, all three of us enjoying the story and the songs. The best part of all was when my little boy piped up with "mummy, what are cestabies?"
When I asked him what he meant he said "the bear na cestabies". So cute, I just couldn't correct him and every now and then I sing it just to hear him repeat the word again.

Beauty and the beast when they dance and tale as old as time plays.. It gives me goosebumps Blush

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?

3yo DD.

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?

DD can't read so needs an adult to help. I liked the layout and got on well with it but DH hates it and found it hard to make sense of. I didn't like that there was no option to remember login details.

  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?

DD has watched Frozen Fever several times, and has enjoyed Tinkerbell: Bake Off. She has tried to watch two films - Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast, and about 45 minutes into each film the app cut out and wouldn't work again without us restarting the iPad, and then of course we had to re-log in and so start the film again. Really annoying.

  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?

We all love Disney in this house and so we like it, but that said, it isn't something I'd be prepared to pay £9.99 a month for. I like that there is books on the app and DD has enjoyed a few of these.

  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?

I like the content and the layout. DH doesn't like it at all. Both of us feel it is overpriced. We weren't impressed that the films we have watched so far cut out halfway through.

  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not at the current price as I don't feel it is reflective of the content.

OnMyShoulders · 30/12/2015 11:08

The scene at the end of Toy Story 3 when Andy says goodbye to all the toys and gives them to Bonnie. It's so poignant. It makes me cry every time.

anonooo · 30/12/2015 17:06

Non tester: favourite Disney moment- when the dinosaurs roam the Earth to the strains of Stravinskys Rite of Spring in Fantasia.

So hard to choose a favourite moment. I agree with lariflete that the opening sequence of up is fantastic but I always cry, also the sequence in toy story where they all hold hands as they are about to go into the flames and the part where Andy gives woody away to the little girl and where Jessie is abandoned by her owner. The more cheerful moments are all the songs from beauty and the beast and the lion king.

WowOoo · 30/12/2015 20:57

One of my favourite bits in an older Disney film is when King Louie starts to sing 'I wanna be like you' in The Jungle Book.

I love the dancing: I used to watch it again and again.

babster · 31/12/2015 13:42

I love Les Poissons in The Little Mermaid, where the chef is trying to cook Sebastian. Not because I wish any harm on the little fella, but for the sheer geeky joy of knowing the chef is voiced by the actor who played Odo in Deep Space Nine. Versatile guy!

CheeseAtFourpence · 31/12/2015 13:45

Non tester: Any of the great tunes. Love Be our Guest in Beauty and the Beast. And having just watched Mary Poppins with my 4 year old (her first time) I loved Let's Go Fly a Kite and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Smile

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
Me, DH and DD (age 4)
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
Pretty easy. DD figured it out fairly quickly and liked the character-based groupings so she could see all the content related to her favourite characters. We did have some streaming issues on DH's Macbook. I liked the ability to set parental controls.
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
We watched a variety - Hercules, Monsters U, various shorts, Frozen Fever on repeat, Pocahontas 2, Lady and the Tramp. All good films.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
The range was ok. DH got very excited when I told him about the trial, but then was deeply disappointed that there was no Star Wars content - he'd been hoping to watch Star Wars Rebels. The most recent films (Frozen, Big Hero 6, Wreck it Ralph) were all missing too. DD read some of the books, but the TV series were generally not her thing - a lot seemed too old for her.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
I think it is expensive for what it is. We don't have any way of streaming to the TV, so huddling round the ipad was not ideal. We have a lot of the films on DVD anyway, so £9.99 per month seems like a lot.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Only if they were likely to use it more frequently than we did.
sharond101 · 31/12/2015 18:20

Non-tester, Hakuna Matata, favourite ever!

ClaireHW1978 · 31/12/2015 20:20

Non-tester here, one of my favourite moments is in Up. I love when Carl Fredericksen throws out all of his belongings to make his house lighter. He's realised that his much missed Ellie is always with him, chair or no chair, and that he has to start living again. I cry every time!

My all time favourite though is the Lava short that was shown before Inside Out. The music and sentiment is just beautiful.

flamingtoaster · 31/12/2015 22:36

Non-tester. I have lots of favourites but King Louie singing "I want to be like you" is probably my overall favourite. It's a wonderful song and the whole sequence is wonderful.

SellFridges · 31/12/2015 22:54

Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?

I've been testing with my DD who is almost 5.

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
Honestly? It was a right pain. I have an iPad 2 and in order to install the app I had to install two software updates which was a pain as I had to delete almost every other app off the iPad to clear space. It finally installed and I had to retrieve my password but that went smoothly. So not a simple process if you're not running the latest iOS. And I'm pretty damn tech savvy!
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
DD has been thrilled to watch Sofia as we don't have the Disney channel. She's also happy to be able to watch the films on tap and has enjoyed watching Alice in Wonderland, Frozen Fever and some others so far.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
DD is quite taken with the music available. We have most DVD's so having the tv shows is the pain plus to us.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
It's really buggy. It's crashed quite a lot and when it does so you need to log in again which is tedious as it needs an adult to do it. We've found it a bit "sticky" when scrolling through stuff too. That said, the content is excellent and it's been great for quiet half hours over Christmas.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I might if they were considering Netflix or the like. It's great for kids and I would like the option to use for short periods of time - I'm not sure what the sign up actually signs you up for. Good for rainy holidays.
JessGG · 01/01/2016 07:52

My little ones and I have been testing over Christmas!

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?

Five year old and three year old sons

  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?

Really easy! Initially struggled to sign up using my existing Disney account but customer services were super helpful and fixed the problem very quickly for me. We were all able to use the next day (each family member has their own profile set up).

  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?

We've enjoyed the Christmas short films, classic movies and Mickey Mouse episodes.

  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?

Fantastic - everything we could want from Disney in the one place.

  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?

We all loved it - access to the Disney catalogue from all our smartphones, tablets and laptops. Really easy to use and easy enough for the children to navigate themselves.

  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Would absolutely recommend as so easy to use and having Disney films etc ready to go has been a real treat, especially over Christmas. We'll definitely be signing up after our free trial ends, and recommending to friends and family.

TheBestChocolateIsFree · 01/01/2016 11:21

Non-tester here. Not a huge Disney family really but I think my favourite film has to be Beauty and the Beast and my favourite moment is the Be Our Guest musical extravaganza. We really enjoyed the live action Cinderella so I'm hoping the Emma Watson remake will be good.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 01/01/2016 11:28
  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
Our 4 DC (dd1 7, ds1 5 and Dtwins 3)
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
We found it quite easy. Each child has their own profile and they access their content through that.
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
The first thing they chose to watch was frozen fever - they were quite excited. Other than that, it's been favourite programmes and films. Crowding a family of 6 round an iPad screen was quite difficult. We just couldn't work out how to get it through our tv yet, though we should be able to.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
There is a very good range of content on Disney life. Everything I wood expect to find is there and I don't think I've thought of anything which is missing.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
Overall Disney life is a good app for accessing Disney content, especially on the go and when access to other viewing isn't available. However, for £9.99 a month, I can't see that there is much particularly exclusive content. The children have been able to play games via the Disney website, there are free to download apps linked from the Disney website, which they have also used. We have Disney movies, the Disney channel and Disney junior on Sky. We also have Sky Go so can get our channels while on the move. paying extra a month to access music and books solely through this app does not appeal. Especially as it appears you can only download one themed app every month and I can't see that you can save music to playlists (through profile) for continuous listening.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
For someone who doesn't have sky tv, I can see that accessing Disney content via this app would be quite appealing. However, as the majority of people I know do have sky, I can't recommend it to them based on the cost compared to other services which they already pay for that offer a similar service.

If there was a good amount of exclusive, Disney life only content, I would consider paying the extra per month. Eg shows or episodes of shows which were only available through the app, feature length episodes or movie shorts. But I'd also like to be able to download a little more for my money per month. Even if it was an app per user profile and to save a playlist of music for the kids to listen to their various favourite songs.

All testers who add their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Please note DisneyLife may well use your anonymous feedback

I know its a bit predicatable, but the 'act of true love' scene at the end of Frozen gets me every time.
There are so many iconic scenes in Disney films, I am loving re-visitng them with my DD.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 01/01/2016 13:04

Tester

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
DD1 (4) and DD2 (2)
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
The initial sign up was simple enough, but using the app wasn't always straightforward. I found it very frustrating having to repeatedly sign in again between episodes of a show and the app often crashed repeatedly before we could start watching. Periodically it just didn't seem to want to work with the Apple TV. When it worked, it was great, but about 50% of the time I had to keep starting from the beginning again several times before we could actually watch something.
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
So far we've watched tinkerbell and Sofia the first. DD1 loves the song from the start of Sofia. The story is much better than I expected, so I was pleasantly surprised that she's not just another blah princess.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
We haven't explored it all fully yet, so I'll come back when we've had a look at the books and music.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
It's good, but I don't think I'd pay £9.99 a month for it. There doesn't seem to be that much on it to justify the cost for a subscription. I'd be more likely to download a single series or film we were interested in.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not. I can't see anyone watching enough in a month to justify the cost.
gingercat12 · 01/01/2016 19:39

Non-tester. Our question is way too hard. Bambi has been my childhood favourite, but Big Hero 6 stole my heart this year. It was so sad seeing Hero lose his brother, but I loved seeing him bot-fighting. It was so good to see him open up to the world again and decide to go to Caltech or whatever it was called in the film.

RAFdad · 01/01/2016 21:30

Tester:

  • Which of your DCs joined you in testing the DisneyLife?
Wife and 2 year old daughter.
  • How easy did you find it to use DisneyLife?
Very easy indeed. Once we had downloaded the app onto all our devices it was very easy to navigate with the subject buttons at the bottom. The character list was easy for my 2 year old to find Pooh and watch a movie or to find a book for us to read to her.
  • Which films/programmes did you or your DCs watch? What did you and your DCs think of these?
Adventures of Pooh Bear, Most of all the Disney classics.
  • What did you think about the range of content on offer on DisneyLife?
Fantastic incorporating shows with films to reading a book to our DD. She loves to read (look at pictures) and tell us what letter starts off the story. (P for Pooh etc). The variety is in our eyes great.
  • What was your overall impression of DisneyLife?
Once you get your navigation head on and spend a few moments finding your way round it becomes quite simple to use.
  • Would you recommend DisneyLife to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes: It has everything you need to entertain your child even on horrendous car journeys as you can download a movie/book etc to use on the go.

Once the free trial has ended i don't know if we could justify £9.99 a month as we only use it really for the short films and books. But if you need films to entertain then this is for you.
