  • How did you find choosing your colour?

A) very easy, although we went in with a dark colour in mind but changed our minds 😂
Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?
A) We chose from the chip rack.
  • Which room did you decorate and why?

A) We decorated the top half of the living room walls.
  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

A) The overall experience was fantastic! Personally i thought it seemed thicker than other paints previously used.No drips at all, went on smoothly and dried very quickly. The paintbrushes were an excellent quality- Excellent products.
  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not

A) Oh absolutely. We chose Sling your 'ook and have already chosen Tabby cat for the bottom half.
The kids were memorised throughout the process of the paint being 'made' particularly when the pot was put in the 'umpy wumpy jumpy' machine. I had never heard of Valspar before this and after chatting with the lady who was on the paint station found out that its the top brand in America! We are really impressed with the paint, thank you very much 💐

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Choosing a colour was easy when I got to the front of the queue as it was very busy at the mixing desk. I took a towel with me and got paint to match it which was superb.
  • Which room did you decorate and why?

I did the en-suite in the end as although hoping to do the lounge which takes four 2.5litre pots and I didn't have the time or money to complete it for this review. the en-suite was looking very grubby and tired so it got a much needed face lift.
- Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.
The young lady behind the mixing counter at B & Q (Burgess Hill) was impressive in her knowledge of paint in general and also the Valspar paint telling us that it was an American Brand and all about its roots. The paint was nice and thick and went all well but it did peel of in one little place like one of the other reviewers.
  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes definitely, it was good quality and far cheaper than the likes of Farrow & Ball but you could match there colour, or any colour pretty much. I really like the fact you could also get colours mixed in external paint, flooring, eggshell & blackboard. A great product

having problems with the photos will do those separately

I've just finished painting, and will take a pic when it has dried

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

We chose from the chip rack - it was very easy and we really liked the way they were laid out and the ability to check under the different lights. We went for a zingy Mint Fizz

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

The hall - it was very grubby and tired. I'm looking forward to being able to scrub mud off the walls

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

It was absolutely excellent. Went on beautifully, and one coat was enough. We'd just painted the downstairs loo with Dulux, and the Valspar was much, much better.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, absolutely. I have always used Dulux, but am now totally converted

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

I chose from the colour chips, bought 4 tester pots then made my decision?

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

The hallway as it needed doing.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I thought it went on well, needed two coats to get a professional looking finish which is what I would expect for any paint.
I originally chose my colours from looking at Pinterest, went to B&Q only to find all my choices weren't available in the UK which was a shame.
I prefer to browse colours on the internet and I didn't find Valspar's website very easy to use to view all the colours available. If I compare to Dulux's website I I find Dulux more user friendly and you can order small tester pots for £1 delivered to your house which is really useful. Your tester pots were £2.80 and again means I couldn't get as many tester colours as I normally do from Dulux for £1 each.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would use it for it's quality and price. However, as I find browsing the website difficult and couldn't order tester pots online I am more likely to use Dulux as I am picky about getting the colour just right and like to browse colours and order a lot of testers.

Thanks for the chance to test the paint. Pictures to follow.

Thanks for the opportunity to take part in this product test. Answers to the questions:

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Colour selection was great, I had a deep blue in mind, and was able to find the right one quite easily (Blue Moon Glow)

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

Dining room. Hasn't been decorated since we moved in. Had removed the wallpaper and chair rail, but hadn't got around to pianist yet. Liked the idea of cleanable paint for the dining room, as we eat in it daily.

- Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.
I've used a variety of paints, and found Valspar to be wonderful. It covers really well, and with 2.5l I've been able to paint a very large area a dark colour. I found the drying time very quick, and was able to do a second coat easily within 3hrs. The finish is very even. I found the roller and brush sets to be a great quality as well. Overall a VERY positive experience using this paint.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely. Although more expensive than some other brands, the application went very well, the coverage is great, and the finish is fantastic. If the washable claim is correct, then it will definitely be the product I use in future, as I've found the need to touch up other rooms quite soon after painting them due to marks.

Thanks again!

Hello, thank you for inviting me to take part in this trial. Unfortunately, I have not been able to participate, however I thought that you may wish to know why, as this could be useful.

I went to the B&Q in Newhaven to collect the paint and brushes and rollers. It was on Sunday afternoon at about 2pm. There was no body at the Valspar colour mixing stand. I stood there for about 5 minutes and nobody came over. I went and found a B&Q member of staff and showed him my vouchers. He told me that they did not have the rollers in stock, and I should go to another B&Q store. When I asked about having the paint mixed up, I was informed that if no-one was at the colour mixing stand, then I couldn't have it done either.

I felt like I was just being palming me off on to another store, so they didn't have to deal with me (and my vouchers).

Unfortunately, the nearest B&Q store apart from that was 9 miles away in either direction (Brighton or Eastbourne) and it was not convenient for me to get there before the store closed on a Sunday. It a shame, I have a bedroom wall that's begging for a lick of paint! :)

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

We found choosing the paint a challenge as there were far too many choices for us to make but in the end we settled for 'Swan Dance' in mid sheen. The light boxes were out of order when we had a look so that was a shame but we went for it anyway. The DC loved seeing the paint being made and how the different colours make up the paint. The gentleman behind the valspar counter was brilliant and very knowledgeable on his products!

Which room did you decorate and why?

We decorated our dining room which was the magnolia that the previous owners had painted on to sell- it was over blood red walls so the dark paint was seeping through and looked awful! The walls were just a basic emulsion which wasn't scrubbable and had made more of a mess on the walls.

Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

We had to mix the paint thoroughly when we used it as it had settled slightly but that's to be expected. We found it to be quite runny compared to other paint we had used but again that is to be expected with a custom mix paint. The paint went on fairly well with minimal runs but we did have to re coat it as it was patchy. The 2.5l did the two coats on the two walls we have in the dining room with a fair amount left over.

It was very quick to apply and had a very minimal odour which was very pleasing to work with.

Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would consider using it again in high traffic areas if it lives up to its scrubbable name even if it is a lot more than I would normally pay. I love being able to choose a precise colour too.

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

I got a few testers originally but chose a slightly different one in the end - took a chance as I didn't want to spend anymore on testers! I wasn't that keen on the colour I'd finally picked but mixed in a darker tester to bring it down a bit so that's what I used in the end. I will paint some on paper in case I need any more then it can be colour-matched!

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

Office/snug. Pretty much every room in our house needs painting but they are mostly too big to cover with one tin.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

Application was great, nice consistency. Used roller and brushes and it went on very well (and covered the darker tester spots easily).
My one gripe with the packaging was that I found the plastic tubs very difficult to open, and almost impossible to do without splattering once the lid's been on and off a few times. I much prefer the traditional metal lever-it-up tins. I think the design must be quite new as the last lot of paint we had (6 months ago?) didn't have these lids, I thought they were terrible.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not

I don't know, time will tell how well it lasts really. We've used the standard Valspar paint many times before and I can't see much difference at the moment between that and the premium paint. I'd probably save premium for very high traffic areas and use ordinary Valspar otherwise.

Hello

I was lucky enough to be picked to try this great paint.

We chose to paint our bedroom a bit of a bonus that we thought we would take for us. We chose the colour warm breezes in satin finish to go with my duck egg bedding.

This paint is great it goes on so well covers and doesn't drip. I must say this paint is expensive but good quality but I'm not sure it's within our normal price range.

The brushes and roller set that we also got vouchers for are so good very, clean up after use really quickly and easily with only warm water.

I loved this product test thank you so much for letting me take part and now have a lovely fresh new bedroom to go with it :)

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Went into b&q with partner and my daughter and found the experience easy and quick. Picked the colour "Pretty Rascal" from the chip rack. Looked at about 3 different colours for a while and decided on this colour to warm up my white walls in the living room. Found the choice reassuring as then you didn't feel like your just settling. Got a member of staff to get the brushes and roller so was out of the store in about 20 minutes and everything was in stock. Staff were friendly and approachable and had good knowledge of the products.
Which room did you decorate and why?

Decorated the living room as still had the original white walls from when we moved in to the new build nearly 3 years ago. Needed a paint as had felt tip pen marks from daughter/play doh marks/food stains from early days when she was a messy eater/blue tac mark from christmas decorations. I also wanted to add warmth to the very clinical looking living room.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

My Dad and partner painted and both said that the coverage was very good, dried very quickly, went on smoothly with no bubbles, had very little smell and had a professional finish.

Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would defiantly consider using this Valspar paint again. My Dad said its the best paint he has ever used and he was a professional painter and decorator before he retired. When I told him the price it did say it was a little higher than other paints but thought the price was justified.

Having moved home earlier this year we promised the DCs that we would have their rooms decorated by Christmas. The rooms in question are converted attic rooms so the starting point was having the existing wardrobe altered and custom fit drawers, shelves and a desk built. Our friendly joiner had just completed this when the opportunity came up to test Valspar paint through Mumsnet.

Murphy's law was applied and we bought paints to the DCs specifications the day before the voucher dropped through the door!

Which room did you decorate and why?

Never mind we thought we will get paint for the hall way between the two rooms currently fetchingly wallpapered in textured peach and cream. The Valspar paint appeals for this area because of the advertised hard-wearing aspect as gentle on the walls the DC are not.

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

The DC have both chosen eyewateringly bright colour schemes and so I chose a very neutral, soft colour called 'Mystical Morning' from the chips on display in B & Q however the very nice chap there said that we can have any colour made up as long as we bought in a non shiny something (at least the size of a 10p) and they would colour match.

Chatting to the Valspar expert he let me know that the paint is that hard wearing it can be used as chalkboard paint in any of the colours, though, depending on the colour you chose, some chalk will show up better than others - one of their sample pots of paint, available for under £3, would cover 2 metres square, enough for a decent sized chalkboard. I also spotted the glitter that can be added to the paint which is percolating ideas for when we decorate the baby's room next year!

B & Q in Inverness were lovely, they didn't have the rollers covered by the voucher in stock so upgraded to a larger Harris set - still free of charge ??

Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

The paint went on very easily, no drips or splatters like you can get with cheaper paints, one coat was sufficient to cover the wall we chose even over the textured wallpaper

Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, very impressed with the quality and as long as it proves to be as hard wearing as we have been told then we will use it in every room! We are going back to B&Q to get a few tester pots in bright colours to paint the sides of DDs drawers, 6 drawers and each gets to be a different colour!

Pictures below show the before and after, all in all its aGrin result!

Thanks v much to MN and Valspar for letting me join this trial. Thanks especially to AngelieMN for arranging for the roller to be sent out so quickly.

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

= I had thought I might colour match, as I've never done that before with paint and thought it might be fun, but I didn't find a colour idea that took my fancy, so I went into store, knowing that I wanted a pale, coolish, minty green. I LOVED the chips so much easier to use than the old style charts, and also my end colour is so true to the chipping chose. I also loved the may the chips were displayed, and the but that showed you what your colour would look like in different lights. I quickly chose a few similar shades, then it took me quite a while to decide on my colour... but I ended up with Ethereal Sea.

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

= I painted our airing cupboard, which really needed painting as it was badly stained by leaks and rust, and it gets a lot of use, plus the main wall of our utility/boot room, which gets filthy from muddy pets and children.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

= I really liked the Valspar application. I've done quite a lot of painting over the years, so I have trialled lots of different brands, but this is my first time with Valspar. I'm also confident that I can prepare walls and surfaces etc well. In the airing cupboard, I did prep well with sugar soap, and I also sanded down the bits where someone had painted the pipes. I wasn't sure how the Valspar would a) cover the rust stains on the wall, and b) go over the old paint on the pipes, but it did both really well. I found it easy to apply, and it blended in on itself well, no bobbling as I went over the margins where I'd already painted. It was low drip but also not too thick, and no odour. And it dried really really well too. I painted over the rusty bits first, but then only needed one coat of paint (plus a 2nd bit on the rust), to cover it.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

= I most definitely would! It's a lot more expensive than buying, eg Dulux, as the latter is always on price promo, but I define saved time on application as it went on so well and covered so well. And cleaning brushes took no time. And there was no smell, which meant that I could get back to normal quickly. So if I factor my time into the equation, it's actually a bargain!

Also, I loved the colour range, and I really want to colour match something. Proof of the pudding for me will be in whether it is scrabble and durable as promised.

NB the Valspar sales person (Emily, in Bletchley - who was excellent!), advised that it would take 7 days to be hardened enough to be fully scubbable.

Thanks again.

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

My 6 year old said he wanted green, so I picked a colour sample closest to the current colour in the dining room (only painting one wall for the time being so I wanted it to match) then searched for something that didn't clash. Chose 'Botanical Beauty' mid sheen as the other walls have a slight sheen to them.
  • Which room did you decorate and why?

The dining room. Was scribbled on years ago by small folk and we are trying to use it more for actually eating rather than storing junk, so it needed pepping up.
  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I love the brushes. Almost made painting enjoyable! I didn't think the roller was great as I had to roll and roll and roll. The paint is a lovely consistency but unfortunately for me I needed two coats ( I think this is because the previous paint has a silky sheen ) Minimal drips. No strong paint smell. Once on, dried evenly. Very happy with it. Plenty left to finish the dining room if I ever have time.

Please excuse the mess on the carpet, ds(6) threw up all over my wall and stairs and various lotions and potions have turned the stain grey on stairs and poo brown colour on wall.

We had no problem getting rollers or brush set like some people have but we went to a really large b and q in the city we live in

Before photos

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Found choosing a colour really easy, there were loads of gorgeous colours to choose from. We went without the children which made the process far more enjoyable but think they would have enjoyed helping pick as they could watch paint colour being made

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

We painted our hall, stairs and landing, my dis threw up spaghetti bolognese all over the wall. Lots of scrubbing with lotions and potions exposed the previous grey paint underneath (previous residents must have had a job lots of this colour as it was everywhere including nursery?!) and also stained wall a poo brown colour. I could face Christmas with being embarrassed every time someone came to visit

    *we are painting tomorrow 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

So will complete feedback then and upload the after photos (here's hoping for miracles and no more poo coloured walls !!)

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match

I chose from the colour chips, we knew what shade we were looking for.

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

My step daughter's bedroom, it hadn't been done for 12 years and was looking very tired.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I thought it went on well and gave a fantastic finish after 2 coats. Love the colour and was a good match to the chip.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes would use again, love the finish and that it is wipe clean, perfect for a Childs bedroom.

Its not a range I would have normally looked at, so thank you.
