Got paint, roller and brushes no problem last Sunday and painted room today! Picked from the shades cards and used 'Morning Sun'. I was a bit worried it would be orangey but I actually love the colour and how it has brightened and warmed up the room. I was also a bit worried about running out of paint but just managed to get it all done.

The room I chose was a small tv/games room which had been done with a 'light reflective' paint but actually just looked white tinged with green. The new colour is so much better.

The paint was really good, easily covered over the previous light colour and no strong smell. Unfortunately I need to get paint for the skirting and woodwork as that now looks grotty!

The shopping experience was really easy, a member of staff came over to the paint station to assist me, when i had shown her the coupons she found the brushes for me, the roller was not stocked so i couldn't pick that up but received it yesterday many thanks.

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Originally i bought a christmas bauble to match but due to it being shiny the lady said it wasnt possible so i just matched as closely to that as possible from the colour chips

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

One wall in the living room,it has a small feature wall and then the rest was light brown, it had seen better day with marks from the furniture and children, the room itself didnt feel cosy or welcoming with all of the light walls and furniture.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I was surprised by how runny the paint was in comparison to the paints i normally buy( wilkos usually as local to me) but i was impressed with the coverage, it is a large wall with a textured paper which i expected to drink the paint up but the tin went really far even with some left over. It was easy to paint with and covered the marks where the sofa had been up against the previous pale wall easily. It also didnt seem to have a particularly strong smell. I really like the finish it looks shiny and a really rich colour.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would consider using the paint for the ease of use and the great finish results on feature walls or smaller projects, if i was doing the whole living room the price would probably put me off a bit if im being totally honest. I have discovered the glitter now and am contemplating trying that out soon.

will upload the photo soon as it transfers to pc

Testers, please let us know:

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Chose from the chip rack. Enjoyed seeing the machine jiggle the paint to mix it!
  • Which room did you decorate and why?

Bedroom ceiling, so it looked like the sky. We had leftover paint so I did two bedrooms (DDs and mine)
- Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.
It went on evenly and didn't drop much. It didn't blend well with another colour (I was trying for a twilight look, mixing with a pale lilac colour)
  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

It was nice paint, but I'm not fussy enough about exact colours to want an exact colour match (and it's quite expensive).

Here are some pictures, I'll post the finished result tomorrow as it was too dark to photograph by the time I finished.

Wow how many colours do Valspar have!
After a bit of huffing and ahing I finally went for a colour match. In B&Q Valspar have a light display to determine how the colour would look in warm, fluorescent and sunlight. (This made my choice 10 times as hard, but very useful).
I decided to paint our down stairs loo as we have just moved in to our new house 4 months ago and this was left till almost last. Our bedroom is now the last room to do.
The paint is great quality. I found the application of the paint to be superb.
Once I had done the pipes and prep it all came together very quickly. I started at lunch and that was me until 7pm. This was down too the extra work need after taking off old border paper.
Valspar hasn't that awful paint fume smell, so could start even with my 2 yo DD around.
I would certainly be using it again. You get what you pay for, and with this paint being great quality I won't scrimp on spending the extra money for the perfect finish.
Am very pleased with the finish to the loo and comes close to my favourite room in the house.
Wipe clean walls are a bonus when water from the sink splashes everywhere.

Very happy to have had the chance to test this.

Only negative was B&Q didn't have the roller and was told that you will need to go somewhere else to get it. So had to buy own roller.

We have used a LOT of paint in our house over the past year so and have found that the quality has varied from brand to brand so were intrigued and anxious about the Valspar paint.
We decided to colour match, which was pretty straightforward.
We painted our spare room/playroom area, which was a pretty disgusting dirty yellow colour before. The paint covered well (although we used 2 coats to be on the safe side). The 2.5l covered one coat and wasn't quite enough for 2.
We were also pleased that the paint did not smell. It made it easy to work in the room.
We've used the rollers loads before so were particularly happy to get a new set (and some brushes too). They are fab quality and are available in our local B and Q.
We would definitely use Valspar again. It's great to get the chance to choose the exact colour to match a room. Thanks for introducing us to the brand :-).

We didn't have the best of luck at our B&Q. We decided on 'pinstripe' for our living room. A rich, dark navy, having chosen it from the paint chips.

I found the choice a bit overwhelming really but I think if we'd had more of an idea of what we wanted (we hadn't decided on a colour at all before we started) we wouldn't have felt this way.

The small B&Q near us didn't have the bushes or the rollers and we sent the whole store into a state of flux after asking for them to be sent from another store. Otherwise we will have to drive a round trip of an hour to get them.

When we went to the counter to get the paint mixed up.....there was no base colours left! So none of the things we needed were in store.

B&Q have just rung us at 8.57am on a Sunday to say that the brushes. and roller will be in on Tuesday but not the paint.

I am going to go back this morning and get a lighter colour and paint my twelve year old dd's bedroom today instead. Apparently there are three base colours and it is just the base that makes the darker colours that they have run out of.

Just an update, it's clear this morning that we need a second coat as its patchy. I have no issues paying for another tin as I know it's great quality but means it would be nearly £60 for a small room which may not be affordable for some!

We bought our paint yesterday (not the rollers/brushes as the shop don't stock them which was annoying). Loved the way the samples were laid out so you could see the intensity/shade changes.
Chris who mixed our paint was very informative, and shared that he had Valspar in his hall as his dogs got it messy, and it washed well

Like PP I also had problems getting the roller set but I PM'd AngelieMN as requested and they were sent by courier.

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample? I was impressed by the selection. The Valspar area in my local store was very popular so there was a long wait to get seen. When it was my turn the guy who served me was very helpful and explained that it's only when the second coat goes on that you really see the difference between this and other paints. He was very enthusiastic and promoted the 'scrubbable' aspect too. I was going to try and colour match F&B's Ammonite but decided not to as I would have ended up needed lots of paint to do the whole open-plan living area.

  • Which room did you decorate and why? The dining bit of our living area. I had previously painted it in a purpley-grey but it was far too dark, so I went for the unmixed basic white to match the other walls. Sorry, boring I know! It still got a good shake in the machine.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I was really impressed with the quality. I like the way the first coat acted as a primer and really gripped the wall. The second coat just glided on. Our house is quite old and the walls are quite rough but this coped really well.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not? Definitely! It covered quite a dark wall in just two coats, very little odour and the finish is great.

it was amazing to be able to choose from such a variety of colours i found it wonderful to be able to choose literally any colour i wished.

Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

i chose to decorate my little living room its really small and i wanted to make it feel more modern and open i think the colour i chose reflects this and i had amazing results everyone loves it.

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

I found it difficult to choose a colour. I had a shade of paint made by Dulux in mind when I went to the counter, but the assistant told me she was unable to mix that for me as Dulux had complained about people doing that. I went to the chip rack of colours to find something similar but I found the choice overwhelming. I wanted an off white shade, but the whites were all displayed in their colour groups rather than together so I found it difficult to compare. As a last resort (as my husband and kids were getting impatient) I looked through the booklet that had accompanied the vouchers for inspiration and chose the first colour that looked nice. It would have been nice to have had more pictures of examples of finished rooms and colour schemes etc as I needed some inspiration. If I were to use this paint again I would take in an example of the colour to be scanned rather than choose from the chip rack.

Which room did you decorate and why?

I painted a section of my landing as it was decorated last by the previous home owners and it was looking very drab.

Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I enjoyed using the paint. It appeared quite runny on first appearances. I was painting a light colour over cream so I had no problems with cover and could probably have got away with one coat. The paint went further than I had expected and I still had some left after two coats. If I put too much paint on the brush I noticed tiny bubbles in the paint on the wall, but they disappeared when I brushed over again and spread the paint out. I am happy with the finish of the paint. The only problem was that some of the paint came off when I removed my masking tape.

Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint again as it was easy to use, and would be economical as it went further than I had expected. I have had the opposite experience with some other premium paint and had to buy another expensive can to finish the room. It was great that the paint is available at B&Q so I could buy some on impulse conveniently without having to order online or visit a specialised retailer. I would definitely buy again if the paint proves to be as durable as promised.

Hello, thanks for this product test.

Choosing the colour was very easy. We decided not to change the colours in our hallway, just to refresh it. We chose the colour nearest in the Valspar Colour Chips to our walls. A bit boring but stuck to a nice white, as our hall is very dark and it needs a nice light colour. We were very impressed by the colour range and are discussing a few for other rooms in our house.

We did have problems getting the rollers, neither B&Q near us stocked them unfortunately so we had to buy an alternative. I didn't realise they could be sent to us!

We painted our entrance hallway because it was looking incredibly grubby. There was enough paint left to also do the downstairs loo, which hasn't been painted in the 8 years we've lived here Blush

The overall experience was very positive. We were a little concerned when we saw how thin the paint is but the coverage is brilliant. It goes on very easily, covers very well. We were very impressed that it only took one coat to cover the whole hallway and toilet and we still have enough left over to paint up the stairs (will do photo's of that too next weekend). I particularly liked the low odour, even in a small poorly ventilated room.

We will definitely use Vaspar again. The coverage is excellent and it is very convenient to pop to B&Q to buy it, the process is very easy and the low odour is very appealing. Even if it is not as durable as promised I'll use it again.

Thanks again for choosing us to test this product.

As soon as I can get my phone back from the little monster I'll upload my photos.

How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

Very easy, I had a sample of my daughters bedding and it was matched perfectly. Very quick and easy.

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

A feature wall in my daughters room as it was still in her nursery colours.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

Very good, nice and thick, low odour which is perfect as it was in dds room and she could sleep in it that night.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not really as it is very expensive. It is good paint but couldn't justify the cost.

I didn't have any trouble getting the brushes and roller and they were much appreciated!

Sorry I forgot to take a before shot but the green covered pale yellow no problem and the stickers are only half finished!

Hi, I have picked Modern Grey for my hall and will update as soon as it is done, there were no brushes or rollers at my local B and Q!

I think the choice of colours is good and tester pots are a good size so I feel confident Modern Grey is a good colour for the space.

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

I went to B&Q with my two children and husband. Before we left home we decided we would paint one wall of the dining room red. My son and I both picked up the same red colour chip and we all agreed that it was the colour we wanted.

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

We decorated one wall of our dining room because it had a lot of food splat marks on it as it is by the dining room table.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

We found the paint easy to use with the roller and the paintbrushes. After the first coat the wall looked very patchy but after the recommended second coat it looked perfect. The paint was difficult to wash off the roller and has stained it pink, but this may be the same with other strong colours! It looks very high quality and we are extremely happy with it.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes we would. Possibly for our living room which has marks on the walls from blu tack. The quality is very good and as it can be cleaned it would save future repainting.

We only needed one coat so will continue the colour up the (huge) stairwell and onto the upstairs landing, will definitely be buying and using Valspar again. I'm also interested in their range of spray paints for some furniture I'm hoping to spruce up Smile

  • How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample?

I colour matched a Little Greene paint I have in the front room. I painted a patch on a piece of cardboard and took it in. The match looks very, very close.

  • Which room did you decorate and why?

Our hallway and stairs. I've been meaning to paint it for ages. I've tried quite a few different colours so have different bits, different colours.

  • Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

The colour-matching service was great and the woman on the desk at B&Q was helpful and enthusiastic about Valspar paint.

The hall is really small so I just used a brush but will use a roller for the wall by the stairs. I found the coverage good but not the smoothest application. It felt quite sticky going on and I was worried about a bumpy finish and it is in places but we can get away with it as the hallway is quite dark. I used the semi-sheen finish as the lady advised that it was a lot easier to clean than the matt.

  • Would you consider using Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I might use it again. It's less expensive than Little Greene which is the only paint I've been using lately and it isn't as nice to paint with or in its finish. But it is about a third less so that's a big plus. If it is really wipeable and durable then i would definitely use it again.
