This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Love this paint, very easy to use and great fun.
Q1, bought these before, think they're great.

Q2,Great paint, very easy to clean off little faces.

Q3, We tried all the faces, but ran out after the first 5 or so, however I did have little fingers to help !!

Q4, Very simple to apply and use, my favorite by far.

Q5, I would recommend them and purchase them again too.

Q6, Have bought many types and brands, but I also just buy these now, and still will as long as my children want their faces painted.

Q1-yes I was aware of snazaroo face paints as have seen them in the shops.
Q2- it was really easy to apply and the instructions book was very helpful.
Q3- I found a design from search skull faces for kids on YouTube which was very easy to apply not my daughter's face.
Q4- the paint was easy to apply just had to use a bit of water on the sponge which helped.
Q5-I would definitely tell my friends & family about snazaroo face paints as was very impressed.
Q6 - would definitely purchase theses face paints as need some more vibrant colours to add to collection. My daughter loved her look!

LovelyFriend · 31/10/2015 22:35

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes I have used some a few years ago.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
They were pretty good quality. It didn't look like you got too much paint in the pack, but it has laster very well. It would have been nice to have a glitter option included.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
The DC tested it out on each other first - DD1 painted DD2 as a green spotty witch. I then did all three of us as a zombie, witch and skeleton monster type beast.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Pretty easy to apply. Went on really well with the brush - I'm not so great with the sponge - need more practice.
Best of all the DC didn't itch or complain of it hurting their eyes, which has happened with facepaint before.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
FOr sure - we thought it was a great product, and no itching!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I'll buy it again when this lot runs out. The kids love facepaint and have a great time painting each other. I quite enjoy it too.

Fanjango · 01/11/2015 00:41

1 yes was aware of product

2 the pack was great. Enough for all the family and the right colour palette for the theme. Great that it included the sponge and brush you really don't need anything else for good results.

3 went for pumpkin and vampire. Not too hard for a novice like me

  1. Went on really well. Good coverage but needs a little practise to get the right consistency. I used it a little dry at first but soon realised my mistake. Very easy to apply.
  1. Yes definitely. Far easier to apply and, most importantly, remove (unlike some).
  1. Yes. Would definitely buy more. I know the single pots can be pricey so the themed set is better if you don't paint kids faces often, better value for money. I wouldn't want to fork out for eight desperate colours just got one event but I would buy the set as there is enough to do lots of faces without such a big outlay.
bellabelly · 01/11/2015 00:47

In addition to my earlier comments (on p1, I think...) - I did the full halloween treatment earlier and found the face paints fantastic. I realise now (to my embarrassment) that the instructions do actually say about mixing the paints with a little water. Missed that first time round! Much, MUCH easier with water.

Needed to re-do around mouths after kids had eaten and also one dd had a bit of a meltdown and had tear tracks down her cheeks but, overall, very impressed. THANK YOU! Halloween Smile

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to use the Halloween face paints. We had great fun. Here are my answers below:

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes I've used them before.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Liked the colours.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Took influence from the witch with the spider's web.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Great, yes really easy to use. I like the sponge for doing large areas and the brush is small enough to get definition. The colours are strong too. I even did my own Halloween make-up with them (as you can see).
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely, really happy with their products.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Yes would use them again. I've had good experiences in the past with them. I like the range of colours in the sets.

DUSTIN · 01/11/2015 21:08

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
I was aware but had not used them myself.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I thought there was a good range of colours for Halloween. They washed off easily and did not irritate my children's skin.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
My DD had a witch with a cobweb on one cheek and a spider on the other. My DS had a zombie style. My DD loved having the face painting and asked me to do the fox design out of the instruction book today.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
It was quite easy to do. I did find that if a design required the colours to be layered they blended too easily. I had to put the white on very thick on the fox design otherwise the parts that were supposed to be white turned out pink.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, the instruction booklet is easy to follow and they wash off easily when you want them to.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Yes, very likely. My children loved having their faces painted. The product didn't irritate their skin and was easy to wash off.

Yes but I'd never bought any.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I loved the design booklet that gave me inspiration, it was easy to apply and more importantly easy to remove and didn't stain their skin like has happened when they've had their faces painted before.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
They both opted to be pumpkins! My nieces decided to use the paints to paint blood streaks on their faces
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
I was surprised at how easy it was, there is a sponge and a paintbrush included which makes it easy to apply.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I already have and to lots of mums at my son's birthday party. They loved how good it looked and that it didn't look all dried out and horrible.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
This is the only brand I would buy now, none of the kids had reactions to it and it cleaned off really easily ...even from my fabric sofa!

We always turn to snazaroo when we need facepaints! I would definitely recommend them, in fact we often give them as presents. Regarding the Halloween set, there was a good range of colours and it was useful to have the brush included.

I did feel that the depth of the packaging is a bit misleading as it suggests the palettes are deeper than they actually are.

My daughter was a stitch doll and I used them on myself to paint a Day of the dead sugar skull design. The paints were easy to apply - and remove thankfully!

Tanith · 02/11/2015 11:39

Q1 Yes, I know Snazaroo as a brand and I've used other facepaints, too.

Q2 We were very impressed with the Halloween package. All the basic colours were there and the designs in the booklet were very easy to copy. The packaging was exciting and attractive.
Some suggestions made: a guide on how to do it for complete beginners would be good; glitter and or luminous paint would show up better in the dark; perhaps more white needed.

Q3 I think we used most of them! Childminder with lots of kids here last week! Most popular was the pumpkin with the rabbit a close run second (we turned it into a wererabbit for the older ones!).

Q4 Very, very easy to apply. I painted some of the kids and the older ones had fun painting each other. Paints all gone, no allergies and completely washable.

Q5 Yes. It's an affordable brand, safe for the children and so easy to use they were able to do it themselves.

Q6 Most definately! We use a lot of face paints and this is a childsafe brand I've never had a problem with.

Belinda24 · 02/11/2015 11:57

Q1. I was aware of the Snazaroo Face Paints but never used them before. Q2. i really liked the look of the set, the colours helped.
Q3. I did a pumpkin, a skeleton and a witch.
Q4. Very easy to apply, used a sponge for the base colours and the brushes for detail.
Q5. I would definitely recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family - there were so easy, washed off well too. And no blotchy red faces afterwards.
Q6. I've alrerady bought more Snazaroo facepaint for the school PTA. The kids loved them, parents were happy too so no need to try any other product.

Thanks for the opportunity to try them.

Untidywomble · 02/11/2015 12:53

Q1. Yes I've used in the past, have always bought the variety packs with sponge and paintbrush
Q2. Looked like a good selection of Halloween colours and nice to have paintbrush and sponge in the pack. Would have been better with a finer brush and perhaps a glittery paint as well. Quite difficult to get the individual paints opened and they didn't look like they contained much paint each.
Q3. I did 2 butterflies - unfortunately not very Halloween-y but what dd5 and friend requested
Q4. Easy to apply; needed quite a lot of white layers but perhaps the sponge was too wet?
Q5. Yes! Love the booklet with design ideas.
Q6. Yes, though care needed with getting the paints off...the orange stained my dad's face and she found it quite itchy this time, so it was wiped off before photos. Not had this problem previously though.
Thanks for the opportunity to test!

PodeTheBogeySlayer · 02/11/2015 13:44

Well I tried to get my little boy to put some on and I have to say he kept it on a lot longer than most attempts at face painting (where he wants it off as soon as it's finished!!) but wouldn't let me do a full face. Will try to attach images of what I was allowed to do.

Q1. yes I have heard of and used Snazaroo before. In fact they're the first brand name I would think of.
Q2. good coverage and easy to apply, easy to mix to the desired consistency.
Q3. I was allowed to do Captain America style designs on his face, he wouldn't let me do any of the ones in the book (although he did like them!)
Q4. Really easy to apply.
Q5. I would definitely recommend Snazaroo facepaint.
Q6. Wouls definitely buy Snazaroo as if works well and is easy to apply. Have managed to do a pretty effective lion design on a different child before and pictures posted by his mother show it lasted really well.
