This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes. We had previously gotten a set in glitter and shimmer paints that the girls loved and completely used up.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Excellent formula, easy to use and easy clean-up, great colours.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

My daughter wanted to be Frankie Stein from Monster High (we got the costume while on holiday in Canada) and so she designed her own look and did it mostly herself! So independent already!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

It was very easy to use. We will be doing a lot more experimenting as time goes on too. The kids are Halloween and fancy dress crazy!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. It is a good price and quality and easy to use and clean up. he kids love it!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Very likely! We will probably get another set for Christmas to get the children through the holidays. It's a great activity with aunties and uncles around to volunteer their faces!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to test them. We are thrilled!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? Yes I was
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Really good - the colours were perfect

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? We did the zombies
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? It was really easy to use - the white took a bit more application to get it smooth and even but it wasn't hard. It would have been great to have an extra sponge/brush for light and dark colours though as even with rinsing the darker colours stained the sponge and remained in the brush
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? Yes I definitely would (and already have) as it is a superior quality and great product
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. I would definitely buy it again as it was quality and easy to use with amazing results
I'll post my pictures seperately

Q1. Yes, I have purchased Snazaroo face paints previously.

Q2. Consistently high quality and appropriate colours for a Halloween theme.

Q3. We did a puppy design that started off as a ghost!

Q4. Extremely easy to use and the paint glides on with ease. No running of colours which is a common complaint with lesser quality face paints.

Q5. Definitely highly recommend. A little goes a long way so, they do represent good value for money. Also, the paint is far longer lasting than alternatives but is very easily removed with soap and water. I use Micellar Water on a cotton wool pad to remove the paints. My little one tends to have quite sensitive skin but we have always used these paints with no side effects.

Q6. It would be The only face paint I would consider buying. Although, initially slightly more expensive than some alternatives, the quality is excellent and as stated previously a little really does go a long way.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes I had seen them in the shops

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I thought the packaging was bright and my son straight away wanted to start choosing what design he wanted. I liked the fact it had a booklet of designs and that it included a sponge and paint brush.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween
Face paint

A bat then we added to the design with some of my sons own ideas

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy to apply, very smooth and coverage was good even with just a small
amount. The sponge was very useful

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely, it was easy to apply the design lasted until my son started eating/drinking and then it only came off around his mouth but when we did want to take it off it came off very easily. He had a lot of Black face paint around his eyes for the bat design but this came off with ease.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I definitely would due to the ease of taking it off and how well it stayed when on his face.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

I'd never heard of Snazeroo before.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

They looked great in the packet, I loved the booklet inside the box with different designs to try

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We didn't use a particular design as i am terrible at this kind of thing, we just made it up as we went along!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very very easy, was surprised how well it went on.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes because it was easy to apply and the colours were great and the paint lasted a long while.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would definitely recommend this brand of face paints. The paint is a decent quality and very easy to apply.

Overall i'm very impressed with the quality of the paints, I am terrible at most arts and crafts but was able to make a goodish attempt at face painting with these. They were also very kind to my kids skin, which is my other worry as my smallest suffers from eczema and products can cause her a flare up. No problems at all with this paint.

Loved the product!!! I will buy it again!!! It's so easy to apply and follow the pictures from the book, very easy to remove as well. Most importantly is gentle to the skin, no irritation!!!
Thank you

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes we had used the brand before, someone brought them to facepaint with for my daughter's birthday and said they were the top brand of kids face paints.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I really liked them, easy to apply and strong colours with a good colour selection. Loved the booklet with all the ideas as my kids loved going through to pick what they wanted to be. My son is allergic to lots of washing powers, bubble bath etc but had no problems with these face paints.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Dd went for the fairy/butterfly and ds was a cat. It was good to have a range of characters in the booklet as at 3 and 5 they find some Halloween faces a bit scary so liked the range of other designs to choose from.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy, strong colour unlike some supermarket brands that have come out really thin and looked terrible. I liked the range of colours too it was very versatile and we could mix ones not there eg pink! My only suggestion would be that the brush supplied was a bit tricky to use for very fine lines - would be good to have a very fine brush on the other end maybe.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Absolutely - we've had some disappointing experiences in the past with inferior facepaints so I would definitely recommend that people spend a little bit more to get a brand that is great quality and looks fab.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint?
I would definitely buy this brand. We always do face painting for parties so a bumper party pack would be great!

  1. I was aware of snazaroo face paints before taking part in the product test.
  1. I really liked the face paint and I'm glad it came with a booklet to give you ideas on how to achieve different looks as I think that is the hardest thing to try and build a picture yourself.
  1. I did butterflies and a cat.
  1. I found the face paint quite easy to use.
  1. I would recommend Snazaroo to friends as the colours are quite vibrant
  1. If I needed face paints I would buy this brand but a big pack with lots of colours and hopefully it would give different face painting ideas as well.
Mrswhatsisname · 04/11/2015 20:40

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes I'd seen them in the shops in the party sections in The Range, Tesco and Hobbycraft.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

The colours had been chosen carefully, there were only colours that were suited to Halloween faces that you might want to do such as vampires, pumpkins, witches and devils. I wasn't after any colours that weren't there so I thought it was a good selection.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

My daughter wanted a vampire, as did her friend so I painted both of them up as pale faced vampires with heavy black eyeliner, purple eyelids and painted on fangs and dripping blood.

My son refused to be a pumpkin and chose to be a tiger instead, which helpfully I had the colours for so that worked out fine!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

The paints were surprisingly easy to use in terms of achieving a good result. You do need a steady hand for more involved designs but I found that I was able to achieve quite a good facepaint on the first go which I hadn't expected - I had wet wipes ready but didn't need them. The instructions were easy to follow, and the suggestions in the leaflet were helpful direction as to how to recreate them or use them as inspiration for another design. The inclusion of a sponge is fantastic, as it made painting the whole face one colour very easy and there's a little indent for mixing colours too should you need to, in the tray. One paint brush is provided which is flat headed and it worked well on all sorts of designs.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I definitely would. It is, as I've said above, extremely easy to use, it washes off faces easily and it comes out of clothes (just as well when you are putting facepaint on toddlers). My daughter has sensitive skin but it wasn't bothered by the use of the paints.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I'm very likely to buy some more when this runs out. The children really enjoyed me doing the designs on their faces and I've been looking up inspiration online to try different designs. They even had a go at doing themselves (slightly less successful) and it's something we've had out several times since we got them. I'd like a bigger range of colours and so I'll probably get a bigger pack next time and some more sponges. I can definitely see the potential for birthday parties and playdates and well, just rainy days really. Total win, can't believe I've been wasting so much money all these years paying for other people to do something I can do just as well at home.

Thank you for letting me take part, we had a lot of fun - me more than my children I think!
Q1. Yes, I was aware of Snazaroo as I have seen the paints at a number of events when my children have had their faces painted.
Q2. We liked the Halloween paint set. It contained everything you needed to start painting, including a sponge and paintbrush. I liked the examples in the booklet as they were very easy to follow.
Q3. My DD wanted to be a pumpkin for one Halloween event and a witch at another. My DS just wanted a mask around his eyes and I had a green face with a bat on one side and ghost on the other. All were easy to achieve following the pictures in the booklet.
Q4. The paints were easy to apply, stayed put all night and were easy to wash off (much easier than I expected!). The ghost wasn't very white when painted on top of the green, even though the green paint was completely dry first. I used about three coats of white paint but the green still showed through, but it still looked good enough!
Q5. I would recommend Snazaroo. As mentioned above, the set was very easy to use, the paints stayed put and were easy to wash off.
Q6. I would definitely buy them in the future for the reasons stated above

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes I had heard the brand recommended.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
A good starter kit. Nothing else apart from water was needed to get started.
The packaging of this kit was a little tricky/ messy to use

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I used the website to look at designs and choose a non halloween design as inspiration - carnival mask

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy. It was easier than I thought to create a reasonable looking design!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo
facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Yes I would choose Snazroo if ever buying facepaints as I know they will produce a good affect and did not irritate my children's skin. it lasted well but was also easy to wash off.

Q1. Yes I was aware of Snazaroo facepaints. I don't know of any other brand of facepaint
Q2. Decent pack of facepaints with most colours I needed and supplied with Sponge and brush. Just add water. Brill
Q3. We tested out the Zombie design. It was actually a lot easier than I expected
Q4. Fairly easy. Sponge and brush came in very handy.
Q5. Yes - because its easy to apply and easy to do designs . Easy to wipe off. And most of all its fun for both parent and DC
Q6. Very likely, because I know its safe and easy to wipe off and reasonably priced. Also its easy to find in the toy shops and I don't know of any other brand of facepaint. And if I did, I don't know whether it would be safe
