This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Butterfly
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Very easy to apply and use, smudged a little but think that was more down to my inexperience of face-painting!

I absolutely would recommend due to ease of use, choice of colours, the booklet and the fact it was easy to get off compared with other face paints my daughter has had done!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

I knew the name but had never used them.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

They were great - good size, easy to use and easy to wipe off again.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Neither of mine were feeling very Halloweeny so one wanted to be a dalmatian and the other a fox. However they did daub paint all over my face. I don't dare post a pic but I was a horrible monster - they absolutely loved paining me and each other.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy. I am not arty at all but could give it a good go by following the pictures on the instruction leaflet.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes definitely, a lovely thing to do with the kids lot so fun and relatively mess free as everything cleans so easily.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Yes I am definitely

Thank you for the Snazaroo face paints. They arrived at the week end and we've had fun experimenting pre the school halloween disco.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

A good little set. Perfect for the family to experiment with. My kids said it would have been good to have yellow in there but the orange worked for what they wanted.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

My daughter wanted the purple eye mask with spider and webs. The kids then used me as their model to paint anything and everything on my face!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Quite easy. I found it tricky doing thin lines with the brush but the result was still very good.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would. The colours are good and easy to use. They are gentle on the face and very easy to remove with baby wipes. I've used other face paint from supermarkets and the paint was very dull and faint.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why

I would buy these for the reasons mentioned above. I trust them to be safe to use and great results. My kids both still love dressing up and are quite creative so this activity is something we will do quite often such as theme days at school, sports events, St Georges/St Patricks day.

Thanks for letting us do this product test!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes. Have used them at school fairs etc.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Great. They look lovely in the packet and are easy to use. However to be honest I find the packaging of the paints themselves a bit flimsy and cheap-seeming. As we'll keep them for a while it'd be better if they had a hinged plastic lid like a paintbox in my opinion.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Both girls wanted to be foxes.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy, and the instructions were great as I am honestly absolutely rubbish at doing facepaint usually but the girls were pleased with the end result and I enjoyed doing it. The colours were lovely and strong, although I think I might've watered them down a bit too much.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - the paint itself seems like good quality - strong colours and easy to apply.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Very likely. Partly if I'm honest because I like the name but also because the paints themselves are great, especially when compared to other halloween stuff I've bought before, and will be used for more than just one occasion!

Catanddogmake6 · 19/10/2015 16:37

Am also place holding. Was thrilled to get the set but am saving for the street Halloween party. BTW does anyone have any idea roughly how many 'faces' the set will do? Don't want any disappointed children.

Lulabellx1 · 19/10/2015 16:54

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, we have tried them before at friends houses and parties etc.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We loved them! I was concerned as my DS has eczema and I wasn't sure if it would cause a flare up. They didn't. They came off really easily with wipes. My DD took hers off just as easily in a bath with her flannel. The face paints stayed on for as long as they wanted them too and the colours were really deep and vibrant.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We went off-pist a bit! We went for a lion and a butterfly.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Defintely. They are great value for maoney, I think these will last us a good few facepaints. They come off easily, they are kind to the skin and easy to apply.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

These are the best facepaints I have ever had. It is worth spending the money some good facepaints that will last, rather than cheap ones which are difficult to apply and do not have vibrant colours.

Sarah3kids · 19/10/2015 19:34

Q1. I was aware of Snazaroo but hadn't actually had it at home.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? I thought the kit was great - good variety of colours & tools. I did think it a shame that there wasn't a yellow

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? We started off with a pumpkin - but she has already worked out which characters she would like to try next.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? The paint went on really well - no dragging on the skin and you could build up the strength of colour really easily - very impressed.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

YES - As a Halloween kit it was great as there was a good variety of colour and a size that you wouldn't waste - wouldn't want it to be sat in a drawer going off!!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Very likely - it went on well & came off just as easily. My daughter has sensitive skin and this did not irritate her at all ++

Thank you for the kit - I know we are going to have a lot of fun this Halloween & beyond - we have had good fun paining each other!! Will have to look in to some Christmas ideas - the booklet was very helpful and easy to follow xx

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
I had seen it at crafts shops but had never tried it.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I really liked the packaging and the little booklet, I thought it was very well presented and I liked the brush/sponge. It was a nice set of colours, although having girls, they would have liked something a bit sparkly.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
We had a purple kind of princess/flower, a butterfly and a pirate. Kids loved some of the designs in the booklet but nobody wanted the ghost/ Frankenstein. Some of the designs looked a bit too fiddly.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
It is very easy but I struggled a bit to get the coverage right. I might have put a bit too much water, and as something said earlier, it would have been nice to have some basic instructions.
Also, it would have been very useful to have an empty slot on the palette to mix paints. It was very easy to remove and clean, which was a good surprise as other brands are hell!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it, although I'd have liked more colours/more paint. The kids loved it and it was a very fun activity.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I would probably buy again, although not the Halloween set. I'd like to have a set of basic colours plus some sparkles, to be used for all occasions. Overall it was a good product, well presented and easy to use.

BigBroIsWatching · 19/10/2015 20:15

We had great fun trying out the face paints! As well as my 6 and 4 year olds, My husband had his face painted too ; by the youngest Confused

Q1. Yes, I was aware of Snazaroo FacePaints as we have used them in the past.

Q2. My overall impressions: Happy with the colour choices, seeing as it's Halloween, it's mainly blacks/oranges and reds with a bit of white thrown in! Easy to use and apply, took a fair bit of water to get going but once useable, was very easy. Booklet could have done with more ideas geared towards Halloween.

Q3. I did a pumpkin on my youngest and decided to use some from the Internet as the selection in the booklet wasn't as big as expected.

Q4.
FacePaint was very easy to apply once it had gotten to the right consistency.

Q5.i would, and I do, recommend Snazaroo face paint as it has more staying power than other brands I have used on my children. The price is a bit more than others but it's worth paying a bit more for good quality.

Q6. Very likely. As I have purchased in the past.

ZaiZai · 19/10/2015 21:29

Q1. I was aware of Snazaroo products as I have previously purchased Snazaroo face paints on a few occasions. I did not however know that they sold a Halloween specific range.

Q2. I was very impressed with the Snazaroo Halloween face paint. I like the way it was easily applied and most importantly it was very easy to remove. The fact that it contains no parabens is a very important factor to me.

Q3. I did not receive a booklet in my box so had no guide. I improvised and created my own (albeit it rather amatuer version) of a zombie on my daughter!

Q4. The Snazaroo Halloween face paint was very easy to apply. I liked that it came with both a sponge and paint brush to apply.

Q5. I would definitely recommend Snazaroo face paints to family and friends - and have done previously - as it is a brand I trust. I like the fact that there are no parabens, they offer a range of colours and it is very easy to apply. The only negative is that I feel Snazaroo face paints are generally quite pricey in comparison to other brands.

Q6. I will definitely be buying Snazaroo face paints in the future as it has always been my brand of choice.

ZaiZai · 19/10/2015 21:36

Q1 - I was aware of Snazaroo face paints before this trial, but I hadn't realised they came in sets as I had only seen colours sold individually.

Q2 - My overall impression of this paint set was very positive. The paints provided a good coverage, without having to use too much and the paintbrush, sponge and instruction leaflet were all that was needed to produce good results.

Q3 - I followed the design for the Halloween pumpkin - I have a disability affecting my arm/hand and thought that this was a less intricate design, which would be better for a first attempt.

Q4 - I found the paint really easy to apply and use. I used the paintbrush to apply the paint for an outline and for the detail and the sponge to provide the general coverage. Both were easy to use and I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take much paint on the sponge to provide a good coverage. I think the key was not using too much water with the paints. Initially when I used the brush for some detail work, the line was too thick, but I found it easy to remove with a damp cloth.

Q5 - I would recommend Snazaroo sets without hesitation. My previous experience of face paints is that a great deal of mess is involved and the results, unless you are an artist anyway, are somewhat mixed. The set does contain everything you need and I would also recommend them because they are easy to remove and seem to be kind to the skin.

Q6 - I would definitely purchase Snazaroo face paints if I was buying paints in the future. The packaging of the set is great, although I did struggle a little with removing the plastic seal over the individual paints, but then again, thought the plastic over the paints meant that unused paints weren't ruined by splashed water. The reasons I would buy them is because they were easy to use and effective, washed off easily and without drying out skin and, although there didn't seem to be a great deal of paint in the packs, I'm sure we will get plenty more use out of this one pack, so an additional pack with some different colours would provide plenty of options for face painting.

Another one that wasn't lucky enough to get to test, but loving how skilled some of your face painting skills are

Familyof3or4 · 19/10/2015 22:10

1: never heard of snazeroo

2: liked it. Easy to put on, especially with the sponge.

3: my daughter wanted to freestyle it rather than use the designs.

4: very easy to apply. Nice abs simple.

5: yes I would recommend

6: I would by again, easy to use and didn't upset my daughters skin which is prone to drying out

jj21 · 19/10/2015 22:11

Thank you very much for this kit - we have had so much fun already.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, I have bought them before.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Very good - the range of colours in the palette was excellent, the brush and sponge were great, and the paint went on very smoothly, we got good results, and it did not irritate my DC's very sensitive skin.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I tried the pumpkin on DD (8) and it went well. She was delighted and I was pleased with how well it turned out. My DCs (12, 10, 8) then took the face paint and had a go at doing one another. They got surprisingly good results, following designs in the booklet and making up their own designs. DD (8) now wants a facepainting party for her birthday!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
The paint was easy to apply and use, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it lasted - there is still loads left, despite lots of use by the children.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - it is easy to use, lasts well, gives great results and did not irritate my children's skin. It came off easily and had a useful booklet of information.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why
I would definitely buy again. It is much nicer than any others we have used, and gave better results. The fact that it does not irritate their skin makes it particularly attractive. I also like that the packaging states it is made in the UK, as it has travelled less far than other products. It was not over packaged, either.

Hopezibah · 19/10/2015 23:53

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes - already a big fan of snazaroo - wanted to see what was different about the halloween facepaints.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Really good quality! Know from previous experience that they last for AGES and AGES!!!

This particular pack had autumn colours in and I wanted to do an 'autumn princess' for my daughter but she had different ideas!

I was glad that the booklet wasn't just a halloween one and that it had all sorts of ideas in there. But just be aware that not all the colours you need for all the ideas are in the pack - but most can obviously be changed to tailor the design to the colours you do have to some extent.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We copied the tiger from the snazaroo guide as best as we could (no yellow in this pack but wasn't a problem as i think it still looked good).

My kids don't like halloween so she knew she definitely wanted to be a tiger instead.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

really great to use and easy to copy the ideas from the booklet. Comes with a good quality brush and sponge to use and that really helps!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - i'd only ever use snazaroo facepaints!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I wouldn't buy the halloween pack specifically as I don't agree with items marketed specifically for halloween but the face paint packs that snazaroo do are great quality and WOULD definitely buy them in future!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
No, I've never used face paints before!

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween face paint?

I loved it, the booklet is fab, the design ideas good and the product surprisingly easy to apply, even for a really non arty person like me!

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

The 3 year old became a pumpkin. The older one was at school but will try another design on him later. He can't wait to try them and the box has been given pride of place on the kitchen table (and the booklet much studied!).

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Really easy, despite being a novice! Surprised by amount of water needed.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family?

Definitely, it's fun, didn't irritate skin, the designs supplied were really good and above all the kids loved it. Oh and they came off easily enough.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would definitely buy, because of this experience. They are lovely! Many thanks for letting me try, I could see me getting into this and even doing some at youngest one's party one day.

goodymummyshoes · 20/10/2015 11:12

What perfect Timing!
Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
I have seen professional face painters using these before.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I was really pleased with how easy they went on, they were very smooth and opaque so that the end result looked very professional (well at least as professional as I could muster)
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
My daughter wanted to be a bat so we freestyled it!
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
The face paint was really easy to apply, I think a child could even do a decent job with them. They also came off very easily too which was great for my sheets!
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend them 10/10. The main reason I would recommend them is how easy it is to get a good result.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I would definitely rebuy them, my daughter wants to try out the glitter ones at Christmas for an Elsa costume she would like to wear. I would definitely rebuy as hardly any of the product was needed so they would do many faces so be great value for money.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Tiger

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? Yes, I'd heard of the name before and had considered buying it, but had never got round to it.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Great for the amateur user - really user-friendly. The accompanying booklet was a good guide for ideas and how to create them, although I did find it tricky to get the same effect in some places. Maybe some application hints or reference to more info on the website would be good.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? We chose the purple spider design, but swapped the background colour to red, so it looked like spiderman. It went down a storm!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? I think this was my second time ever using face paints, so it took me a while to get used to how much water and how much paint to use. I found it particularly tricky to get good, even application of the base red colour. The colours themselves were good and the brush was easy enough to use. I struggled a bit with the sponge, especially when doing smaller areas - I felt like a needed something with a pointed edge. I was very pleased at how easily it came off. My son loved it, although he did mention that his cheek was a bit itchy. When we removed the paint, his cheek was a tiny bit red, but the redness disappeared after 5 minutes, so not a big concern.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I think I would. I don't remember the make I used once before, but these paints were definitely easier to apply, removing the paint was MUCH easier and the colours looked much better too.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I probably would buy Snazaroo if I needed more face paint or was doing painting at a party. (I'd have to get a lot quicker for that, mind you!!) I'd have to use it a few more times with my son and leave it on for longer to make sure it definitely doesn't irritate his skin too much, but if all was OK, I'd get it for the same reasons I would recommend it. Great colours, easy to remove and a useful booklet with designs we both liked!

Q1. Yes, we were aware of Snazaroo face paints but this is the first time we tried them. My son was keen to try them, as he has seen a pre-Halloween poster locally, advertising face painting sessions on Halloween.
Q2. overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint: they mix well when a bit of water is added, the paint is smooth and even. Not a very varied choice of colours. Nice book of instructions and ideas, though in the end my son has opted for a ninja turtle.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Donatello/ninja turtle
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? It was easy to apply, and relatively easy to remove, but the green paint left a yellow stain on his face. I managed to clear most of it with a make-up remover lotion, but at the moment the area around his mouth and nose still has a yellow tint. And we kept the face paint for less than half an hour. I wonder if it would stain worse if the paint is kept for longer.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? I'll say that it is a fun product, and my younger son was happy with his face mask, but we were not impressed with the stain/paint residue.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Cannot see using it much, except maybe for a Halloween party and a school theatre.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Nope never heard of them

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s
Halloween facepaint?

I really liked it, I found it surprisingly easy to apply and lots of ideas in the booklet that even the artistically challenged (like me!) could have a decent bash at

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We used the purple spider design to give it a test, might try something similar for Halloween

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very, I used a bit too much water to start with but even then it was easily rectified

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes defiantly, I found this much easier than similar sets I've bought from supermarkets

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Yes, I'd never thought of face painting as something we could do at home just for fun. It'll be great for rainy days.

I attached a pic of my "interesting" first go with DD!

Q1. Yes I was aware of the Snazaroo brand. They're the only facepaint a allowed to be used at school.
Q2. This was a good size kit with lots of colours and brush and sponge included. If I were being critical, as others have said, the covers on the individual colours were tricky to remove. Little tabs would have been handy. I also think it would be a good idea to have larger quantities of the key colours (orange, white etc...) although I appreciate people will have differing opinions on which are the key colours
Q3. I did a spider/spiderweb on my daughter 's face and plan to do a pumpkin on my son when he allows me!
Q4. As always the quality of the face paint was great, easy to apply and blend colours and very easy to remove. Again, if I had to be critical I would like a pointy brush included.
Q5. I would absolutely recommend Snazaroo face paints. They are the only brand I could name and I wouldn't trust any others on my children's skin.
Q6. I still have children young enough to enjoy face painting for several years yet so I will undoubtedly be purchasing more when my current supply is diminished.

Thanks for letting me take part! I shall post on Facebook too.

There are some wonderful photos on this thread Smile Lots of brilliant ideas too!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

I think I had probably seen them in our local fancy dress shop but wasn't really aware of Snazaroo as a brand or of the variety of products that they offer.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween face paint?

Very positive! The paints were a good consistancy. Colours were vibrant and easily mixed for more variety. The inclusion of the brush, sponge and ideas book was a real bonus. I've never been able to master face painting so it was wonderful to have lots of easy ideas with step by step instructions! My DC loved looking through the book and picking what they wanted.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween face paint?

The rainbow design initially, but this wasn't very successful (due to my absolute lack of artistic skill) and the butterfly design on DD (as per photo) She wanted this rather than a Halloween themed design. DS wasn't keen on having his face painted so he painted mine instead. I had an orange nose and green eyebrows, which both the DC and DH found hilarious.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Much easier to use than face paints I have used in the past. It was easily removed with baby wipes.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I definitely would recommend to family members with young children as the paints are kind to young skin and lots of fun to use!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would definitely buy in the future. I think these would be great for Halloween, sleepovers, parties or just for fun on a rainy day.

Thanks Mumsnet, we really enjoyed testing these out!
