This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes I was.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Thought they were really good colours for Halloween and well packaged.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We tried the skeleton and vampire.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

I found them quite easy to use, just a bit tricky to get good coverage with the white to begin with.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes i would recommend them as they seem like a good quality brand.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would most likely but them if I were in need of facepaints as they are good quality. Only thing that puts me off is that they contain phenoxyethanol which I am allergic to so have to wear gloves to apply them to my children.

Q1. I was not aware of snazaroo before I tested these paints.
Q2. Overall impression was brilliant! My daughter loved having her face painted and painting mine as well! Was a lovely activity for a raining afternoon in doors.
Q3. She didn't want one of the more Halloween ones so she picked the butterfly from inside the book and mixed red and white to make a pink and orange butterfly.
Q4. Found it very easy to use and apply! Just had trouble with making her sit still for long enough!
Q5. I would definitely recommend it was a nice thing to do to keep my daughter occupied in a rainy day! She loved picking the design and didn't want me to take it off. Will definitely do it again.
Q6. Very likely to buy again. They was easy to use and the book inside gave me some good ideas to do again. They were very easy to take off as well.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I thought they were fab - for a novice like me, seeing each step of the painting helped a lot.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I did the pumpkin, skeleton and vampire.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
It was very easy to use, I liked that you get the brush and sponge, and that the sponge is a good one for face paints. I would say I struggled getting good coverage of the white paint, whereas darker colours worked straight away, but that will come with plenty more practice.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely. It's very affordable and easy for anyone to use.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Definitely. I was pleased with how much paint you use for each face, and it's much simpler than you would think. That's a winner for me!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
No had never heard of them.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween Facepaint?
Great! Thought the set was lovely. It looked great on too and easy to remove with a baby wipe, though did have but more trouble removing the green Facepaint, it left a yellow glow on my son so he looked jaundiced! Needed soap and water to get rid of that but that was fine! I was really pleased with the effect and how easy it was to follow designs, booklet was great.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I did the Vampire first and then he wanted the dragon so we did that after!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy, loved that you just wet the little patty things so not too messy and it went on really well.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely as it was easy to use for an amateur like me, I was pleased with results and more importantly so was my little boy! Easy to put away too and not messy!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I would buy it again as found it easy to use and great effect!

I was a rabbit, dd1 pumpkin, dd2 tiger.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Not too bad felt I needed more practice.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

florencebabyjo · 25/10/2015 08:02
  1. I had heard of Snazaroo before but hadn't ever bought them.
  2. I was impressed with the intensity of the colour and civerahe and loved the books ideas but the design of the pack was fiddly to use.
  3. I used the vampire on my 4 yr old Dd and the mask with the spiders Web design from the last page on my DD who is 11. By the time I'd finished DD aged almost 2 wanted a piece of the action and she ended up with as much of the pumpkin as I could manage through her wriggling.
4 The face paint itself was easy to use and it covered well, especially the white base. It took me 10 minutes to get the plastic circles off the paint and went through several cutlery options to help in the end. I think it would have been good to have a bigger white palate so the sponge would go in easier when doing bases and a second finer brush to help with the details would give a better finish. Overall the colours were good and creamy and looked great on. I am no expert with face paints and I really was glad of all the simple designs to choose from. It meant I could create a reasonably good design on my first go, and I could see how you could develop the designs if you were more confident. My Dds loved them though.
  1. I would recommend this paint because the colours went on well and it felt good quality. I also trusted the brand on their skin.
  2. I would definitely go for this paint again but maybe would buy a couple of individual colours in larger sizes to help with applying bases.
skettle57 · 25/10/2015 10:38

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, we have used it before but maybe 3 years ago.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Great packaging – really simple and clear, but also eye-catching and appealing. And the booklet with ideas and step by step illustrations is fantastic. my daughters were over the moon to be able to choose one, and thoroughly enjoyed browsing through it.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
My elder daughter chose the vampire to go with her new Halloween outfit, and my younger daughter decided on a dinosaur.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
My husband did the face painting and he found it easy to use and get the desired effect. Each face took around 3 minutes, so it was pretty quick, and they looked amazing.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely, especially as my daughters wore their 'faces' for the whole afternoon with no smudging or irritiation, but it all came off easily with baby wipes before bed.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Again, definitely. It would also make a terrific present, plus lightweight and easy to send.

  1. We liked them and loved the book that came with it, not being the creative types they came in handy!
  1. The pumpkins.
  1. Very easy, had to use a fair bit on water which was fine. It came off aft two baby wipes plus warm soapy water but needs to be done in the bath to get it off completely.
  1. Yes because it's easy to use.
  1. Yes the children really enjoyed them and it's easy enough for us to do ourselves.

Should point out that my son got a rash on his check, but he has a patch of sensitive skin here anyway.

I would add photos but cba to name change, if mumsnet would like some for snazaroo feel free to email me and I'll send some.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

No - not a brand I had come across before

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Attractive packaging - good colours. Particularly liked booklet with suggested designs.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
DD (5) - rainbow design. DS (2) - dragon/lizard

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Easy to use, nice vibrant colours which applied well. Didnt transfer but washed off really easily. Only improves I can suggest is that another brush would be handy, as even though brush was washed in between colours, I still managed to mix them slightly. Yellow would have been nice too particularly as it was used in some of the designs in the booklet.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Would definitely use again, assuming price was reasonable

kelandab · 25/10/2015 21:05

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes - we have used snazaroo face paints in the past

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

There's a great choice of colours & the size of the individual colours are good

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

A pumpkin design & zombie

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Really easy, much Better than the cheaper paint we normally buy

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I think I'd recommend spending extra on these face paints as they bake the task a lot easier

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I'd be likely to buy these for future halloweens & dressing up events. They are excellent quality & don't irritate

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, I have a couple of kits similar to the one we were sent. One of them is the glow in the dark/UV set which I can never get to work though! I've also used Snazaroo face paints when doing face painting at school fairs and Guiding events (provided by the setting, not my own).

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Very good - a really good selection of Halloween-y colours to choose from, plenty of design suggestions to follow, and as good coverage as I usually get with Snazaroo paint.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
DS1 wanted to be a bat, so I came up with my own design (based on a Batman design I do at school fairs). He seemed happy with it.
DS2 said "me paint", then ran off and refused to join in (he's 2) so never mind!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
The paint was very easy to use, I used both the sponge and the paintbrush provided. It would be nice if the circles were a bit bigger or the sponge a bit smaller, as it's tricky to get a decent amount of paint on the sponge - it's easier with the bigger single colour circles you can get.
I didn't have any trouble getting the plastic covers off the paint, just using my fingernails, but my nails did go some interesting colours doing it :o

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely - I've tried a few other brands of face paint but always come back to Snazaroo, it gives much better coverage than any other I've tried but is easy to remove at bedtime. You get a good depth of colour with only one or two layers of paint, and it's nice and creamy to apply. DS1 said it itched a bit as it was drying, but that was his only complaint and as soon as it had dried he was fine.
I've never seen a child react to it either - and have had permission forms completed for face painting saying we could only go ahead with this brand of paint - which I find reassuring as it's only rarely that I'm painting my own children.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I'll definitely buy it again, I wouldn't use another brand I don't think. It's reliable, not too expensive, and I like that I can buy the small kits, or the larger circles of single colours depending on what I'm after.
I also like the design booklet that's included, and the videos and how to guides on the Snazaroo website about how to complete some of the designs.

Will add a pic of DS1 separately as it's on my phone.

A1. I had heard of Snazaroo before, but this is more when searching for paints on line such as Amazon, but had not looking into them any further.

A2. Great colours for Halloween my only small complaint would be that it is not easy to see when the plastic films have been taken off. As I had a little helper I couldn't see which he'd already done.

A3. We decided to have a Turtle mask on in the end but all the images seemed easy enough to follow.

A4. Very easy to use, found the sponge worked better on the face than the brush.

A5. I would recommend it yes, there is no faults with the product, the colours are ideal for Halloween, goes on well and comes off with soap and water as per the directions.

A6. I would buy the Snazaroo yes, but I'd want the general range rather then themed whatever the season, as even thought it's Halloween, my boy wanted to dress up as his favourite turtle - who has a blue mask.

  1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? I've seen them in shops such as tesco and on online fancy dress shops.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? I found them easy to use and the booklet (and website) has some great ideas, but I think the instructions could have been a little more detailed. It also would have been nice if there was a couple of areas for mixing colours.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? We tried the half robot face from the accompanying booklet.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? I found them easy to use, the colours remain vibrant in the skin and layer up fairly well when applying light detailing over a darker foundation colour.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would recommend it.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. I would definitely consider buying them in future, but would possibly choose a larger pallet of colours or some of the larger cake products.

iwantavuvezela · 26/10/2015 11:00

Thank you for choosing us, my daughter was so excited to receive this as she really loves face painting, and has been speaking for weeks about what she would like to do for Halloween this year.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

I have seen Snazaroo face paints before, but had not purchased them

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I showed my daughter (8) the set that was sent to us, and she squealed and said THAT IS JUST PERFECT, THAT IS JUST WHAT WE NEED! So I guess that got a thumbs up, I was happy to see the inclusion of a little face sponge as well.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We tried out the vampire, although my daughter wants to go more free style for actual Halloween ..... we are having a Halloween party and these designs will come in handy for friends when they decided what they want to do. I am not the best face painter so will appreciate using this if asked!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Really easy, we had another set for last Halloween and that was quite difficult to use, so really impressed with this set.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would, easy to use, good colours, did the trick nicely!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why

My daughter shows no sign in growing tired of face paint, so yes I would always have one of these in the house. I will buy this product again as it was easy to use and get off, and was miles better than some other kit I had picked up from the pound shop, which although did the trick, was hard to apply and get off!

BathshebaDarkstone · 26/10/2015 15:24

Q1. Yes I was aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in the test.

Q2. I was very impressed with the quality and loved the booklet of ideas.

Q3. I used the spider design as they're both going to be spider witches on Halloween! Grin

Q4. The paint was surprisingly easy to apply and use, considering that I have the artistic ability of a loo brush! Grin

Q5. Yes I would recommend it as it was much easier to use than I expected.

Q6. I would consider buying them for the reason above.

Thanks from me also, we had lots of fun!

Tresame89 · 26/10/2015 16:00

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
No I hadn't actually heard of Snazaroo before

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Really nice facepaint to use and dries fast

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I used the pumpkin design with one of my sons and also the fox and rainbow with two of my nieces

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
The facepaint itself was fairly easy to apply and dried really fast

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend Snazaroo facepaint because it was easy to apply, you only have to add a little water with the brush to use so they can't dry out and they last for a long time once on the skin

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I would buy it in future. My eldest son has allergies to fish and nuts and his skin is sensitive to many products. These facepaints havent caused him to have any kind of reaction and hes so pleased with that.

I would like to add I think they should include blue and yellow in this pack as there wasnt any, and without those primary colours we struggled to make other colours. Also I would have liked a thinner brush for the finer lines or black outlines, but overall a really great product, we are really happy to have tested these Facepaints and are looking forward to using them for Halloween this week so thank you :)

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? No I hadn't used face paint with my dcs before
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? It looked good before use. Was a bit messy, but I think I used too much water
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?A vampire
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?It was a bit messy, but like I said I think I may have used too much water. It still did a good job though
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, it didn't bring my dds eczema up, so that alone makes it a good product
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.Yes. Mainly because it didn't bring up dds eczema and it's hard to find products like that

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes. We'd had a few of the small 3 piece kits before and had seen the bigger kits at friends houses and parties.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? **

Very good. Liked the way it went on. I think the kit could have done with a larger white though. Packaging is appealing.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I did a very poor pumpkin on one child. Our nanny was responsible for the slightly more inventive design on the picture! I did find the booklet a bit odd in that it only had a few Halloween designs in and that some of the ones in the booklet included colours not in the pack!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy. My one criticism would be how easy it is to lose the plastic covers to each colour and how tricky it is to get them on and off.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I'd definitely recommend. It went on easily and more importantly came off easily and without any skin irritation.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. **

I'd definitely buy again. They worked well and we had great fun using them so thank you! I also really like the fact you get a booklet of designs which helps the less creative amongst us!!
