This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, I've bought them before. My daughter loves face paints!

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I thought it was great! Perfect sized pack for a Halloween party & I liked the booklet that came with it - very helpful! Really helpful to have a sponge & brush.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween
The vampire! Very scary, I'll upload some photos later...

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy! It was a bit tricky to open all the little paints but once I'd done that it was very simple & easy. I loved the photo instructions they were really easy to follow.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely! They were great, good quality face paint & easy to follow instructions

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Yes, they were good colours, lasted ages, didn't make my daughters skin sore & the instructions were easy to follow

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? Yes, I was.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Quality was excellent (as I had hoped) and range of colours was good. It was nice not have any pinky/girly colours as my daughter had to be more adventurous than the usual pink butterfly (she was happy to accept a change of colour palette and design if it meant she could have her face painted!).
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? DD went for the spider/web design, DS1 chose the monster/dinosaur and DS2 is probably too young for facepaints but he got a little pumpkin on his cheek which he loved.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Very; great depth of colour and smooth application with a little water. Plastic hard to remove from the top though!
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, the quality is much better than the brand I've been using and I loved the range of ideas/instructions in the booklet.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. Although I know Snazaroo tends to be pricey, I think if you have a accepting obsessed child like I do, they are worth the extra money.

  1. Yes i have heard of Snazaroo before
  2. Overall i liked how easy it was to apply and how long it lasts, i have used the white on 4 sperate occassions and still seem to have plenty left. However i wasnt very impressed that it didnt come with a yellow , which cant be made and is a colour i feel should have been included, I also found that after removing the green my daughters face looked like she had jaundice, and my eldest daughter who was the red fox at one point looked like a oompa loompa the next day as it seemed to leave a stain of orange on her face.
  3. I did the cat, the vampire, the butterfly, the dog and fox
4)Really easy - i wish that had of been a thinner brush as well though for those little fiddly lines. 5)Yes Id recommend to a friend ,as i found them great for sensitive skin.
  4. Yes i would buy again but would want one with more colours

Thank u for letting me take part in this product test it was great fun!

Okay, so my girls were very very excited to finally try out some face paints that would hopefully wouldn't bring them out in a rash!!!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
I had heard of them yes

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I thought for a complete set the colours were good although I did expect to have all three primary colours in every set.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Initially my eldest had the purple spider web design and my youngest had a pumpkin but then they decided they wanted to be witches to match their Halloween outfits!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
It was okay to apply I found the base coat did need a couple of layers (as you can see in the pics, the deference between my little one and her sister as she didn't want to sit still long)

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
After looking online I would definitely recommend these there are some lovely kits like the Halloween one that would be ideal for parties or just dressing up.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I would purchase these again, I was really impressed with the fact that neither of my ultra sensitive children reacted to these, the first design washed off really well but the green faces for a witch left a slight yellow residue that took a couple of washes to remove.... (no harm done though) I have yet to wash their clothes but I'm hoping that the paint that made it's way to my shoulder (carrying a sleepy witch) the sleeve of an outfit and my sofa cushion.... xxx

Q1 - yes I was aware of Snazaroo before I took the product test.
Q2 - I really liked the face paint and especially the ideas booklet with the steps that showed you how to create the looks.
Q3 - we tried out the Pumpkin face.
Q4 - once I had got enough water on the paints as they was quite dry they worked well and gave a good coverage. Removing it was easy and didn't leave the residue behind that some face paints can leave.
Q5 - yes I would recommend them to family and friends as they are good paints, give good coverage and they stay on well.
Q6 - I would consider using it now I have tried them they are above and beyond the other face paints I have used in the past and definitely a case here of you get what you pay for.

barricade · 30/10/2015 16:38

Many, many thanks for the Snazaroo face paint set. Today is the last day for feedback, but I was actually holding out for tomorrow - 31st Oct, and Halloween - to fully use them. As a result, I haven't photographs of the extravagant designs I hope to come up with. Really sorry about that. Nevertheless, here is my feedback.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? No, I was not aware of Snazaroo face paints.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Really good face paint set. However, there may have been more than the standard 8 colours. Plus, the paint mixing area on the tray needs to much larger (if I'm mistaken and that is supposed to be just for water, then there should be a mixing area moulded into the tray)
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? A simple 'Harry Potter' red scar was produced as well as some war paint designs (horizontal lines across face). Hope to go for a Dracula / scary vampire next. Or better still, Darth Maul from Star Wars.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Easy to use. The paint composition allowed for smooth application.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, for face paints. I haven't looked, but I'm sure it's likely that a set with an extensive colour palette is available.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. This is the only face paint brand I know, so after a successful trial, I will automatically look for Snazaroo in the future. I would like more than the standard 8 colours. There is no yellow or blue, so bang goes designs like 'Minions' / 'Honey Monster' / 'Iron Man' / 'cheetah' / etc. But as stated above, I'm sure it's likely that a set with an extensive colour palette is available.

elfycat · 30/10/2015 17:01

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, I had used the green for a wicked witch costume for myself 7 years ago.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Good selection of colours, though could have done with all of the primary colours to enable colour mixing myself and yellow for the rainbow design.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I used the pumpkin design for Halloween and the rainbow design for a play at home day. I also used a picture of a ghoul and a spider web design, from online/done by a facepainter friend.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Quite easy once I got used to dabbing and not wiping it on.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I have already recommended them to a friend (and suggested a local supplier) as they have good coverage and an excellent range of colours.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I've already added to my colour collection. I wanted the primary colours for mixing and the Halloween set did not have blue or yellow. They are a good price compared to others and available at many fancy dress/ party shops.

Q1. First time I heard of Snazaroo was few weeks ago when I got the email about the testing
Q2. The paint set looked to be of quality when it arrived and I was positively surprised, we've only ever had very cheap paints that end up being very hard to use so these were great
Q3. We did two little skeleton boys
Q4. Very easy, albeit I must admit to a total blonde moment as for the first few moments I spent frantically trying to get any paint on to the sponge only to notice there's a film over the paint lol, after removing the film it worked like a charm, paint spreads well and covers, very happy with the fact the set comes with sponge and a paint brush. Also these are so easy to remove, just with a wet cloth I got most of it off without soap.
Q5. I would definitely recommend, brilliant product and works very well.
Q6. With 3 little ones in the house we will definitely be buying more and chucking all the cheap poundland face paints into the bin.

It was very easy to use & the instructions in the booklet were clear!
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Oh I'd definitely recommend Snazaroo, the pigment quality is very good and it's also super easy to remove.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I'm definitely going to buy more colours tomorrow morning to get the whole family ready for our Halloween extravaganza in the evening! The quality is so great!

Thanks Snazaroo we really enjoyed using your product!

kierie · 30/10/2015 19:41
  1. I'd seen them advertised, but had never tried them or heard anyone talk about using them.
  2. Overall impression was good. They came well packaged with everything I felt I needed. They worked well and washed easily.
  3. Made up my own variation on the pumpkin design.
  4. Really easy. The more water I added, the thinner the colour, the less water, the more vibrant colour. The paintbrush would have been better with a finer tip, as the straight edge tip made curves more difficult.
  5. Yes. Bright, vibrant colours. No problems with LOs eczema. Everything needed came in the kit. The booklet was a good guided. A clear web link to more ideas would have been useful.
  6. They do the job, would depend on price and how well they keep.
mummyplusbump · 30/10/2015 19:52

Q1. I was aware of the brand but have never used them before.

Q2. My initial impressions were that there were a few nice colours and the sizes were good as you don't use too much. I liked the sponge as I was not expecting one to be included.

Q3. I used the spider design.

Q4. I found the sponge easy to use but would be useful to have different size brushes.

Q5. I will be attending a Halloween party tomorrow where I'm sure it will come up in conversation so I will definitely recommend it then.

Q6. Yes I would buy this brand again.

CocoKev · 30/10/2015 20:35

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Q1. No
Q2. Very good
Q3. Own design - the ones on the supplied pamphlet weren't what son wanted as he was a monster for Halloween
Q4. Pretty easy to apply. The sponge was good. The paintbrush could be better quality but generally speaking I liked this kit.
Q5. Yes I would recommend as better quality than other halloween facepaints on the market. Gives good coverage and lasted for most of his party
Q6. Yes as seen a few of these kits in the shops recently so knowing they're easy to get hold of and knowing they are good quality would make them my go-to facepaints

se22mother · 30/10/2015 21:42

Thank you for choosing us to test snazaroo.
I had not heard of snazaroo before the product test.

I like the kit, the colours are great for Halloween. Great quality feel compared to the supermarket products we had used before.
Dd chose the pumpkin design. It was relatively easy to do the outline using the guide in the booklet. However the details were harder due to my inexperience. Dd was happy with the end result.

We would definitely recommend snazaroo to family or friends if it came up in conversation.

We would buy the product again, it felt high quality

SpaceKoala · 30/10/2015 22:16

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, knew it from fairs etc, but hadn't used it myself

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint

Good product, packaging appropriate, easy to use
Liked the instruction booklet

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

For DS I used the pumpkin template, but on his cheeks alone as he isn't keen on full face facepaint

Dd one day a whole face pumpkin and a butterfly design another day

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy, good coverage and easy to wipe off again

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, already done so actually, a friend saw my dc with facepaint and asked what make it was as hers was far lesser quality

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Likely, it's not cheap, but it's quality

Thanks for letting me test this product!

modzy78 · 30/10/2015 22:51

Q1. I had seen it Snazaroo used at a nursery event, so I had a vague idea of them.
Q2. I was impressed with the range of colors and loved having a book to get some ideas. My daughter thought the pictures were stickers at first because they were so colorful.
Q3. I tried to do a butterfly. My daughter is a very active 3 year old who has never allowed anyone to put face paint on her before. I was able to do a fair approximation of a butterfly, but she wasn't going to stay still long enough to keep it smooth.
Q4. I found the plastic covering the paint to be difficult to remove. This annoyed my daughter, who was impatient to give it a try. Once that was off, it was really easy to apply and use. In fact, it was so easy that my daughter could apply it. She really enjoyed painting red stripes on my face and covering hers with multiple colors. I was also impressed with how easy removal was. This was really important when she applied some right before we needed to leave for nursery.
Q5. I would definitely recommend Snazaroo facepaint. I was impressed with the quality and range of colors and ideas.
Q6. I would certainly consider buying Snazaroo facepaint in the future, especially if I was doing a fair amount of painting for an event. I would also buy it if my daughter wanted to do some facepainting for fun.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Really easy, the sponge is great along with the paintbrush, love how you can layer up the coverage if needed
