This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, I've used them before.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I like the selection of colours, and there's enough to do most Halloweeny designs.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween

Ds2 wanted the spiderweb design from the front of the box.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy, although the paintbrush was a bit too thick to draw accurately.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely would! Good quality, strong colours and wash off fairly easily.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Definitely, they are a product I can trust.

babycakes1010 · 20/10/2015 18:49

Thank you for allowing us to take part in this trial.
I have seen Snazaroo products before but I have never purchased this product.
The best thing I found was it was very easy to apply, lasted most of the day and was very easy to remove. I found only needed a tiny amount of water for application.
My daughter selected the butterfly design and has already picked her Halloween 'paint'.
There were a variety of designs for boys and girls and I would recommend to friends/family and will definitely be purchasing again as unlike other face paints it didn't irritate my daughters skin.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, I'd heard of Snazaroo before but had never bought them (or any other facepaints)
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Very good, although I was disappointed that a number of the designs in the enclosed booklet included colours (eg blue) that weren't in the Halloween set. I liked how easily it wiped off with baby wipes.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I did, or tried to do, the butterfly from the booklet. I found the thin lines very difficult, but that's probably due to my lack of skill. We then tried out the rainbow, but my DD was sad that there was no blue so it didn't look like a "proper" rainbow like the photo in the booklet.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
I found it easier than expected, and my DD was pleased with my efforts. I did struggle with the thin lines, and I found that adding layers of colour didn't work too well as the bottom colour still showed through.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely. I would never have thought about doing facepainting at home as art is not my strong point, but we had lots of fun and we'll definitely have another try.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Definitely. Great colours, easy to apply and remove - what else could you need?!

BeautyQueenFromMars · 21/10/2015 11:34

Not used it yet, but DS has a school disco tonight and is planning to go as a vampire creeper, so we'll be making full use of it then. Will post review asap. We're actually quite excited as DS LOVES facepaints and we'd run out!

Larnipoo · 21/10/2015 11:40

We've had a practice for Halloween using our Snazaroo face paints and here's my thoughts:

Q1. Yes I was aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test, I've bought Snazaroo products before.

Q2. I liked the Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint pack, good that it included paintbrush and sponge.
Lasted a long time and felt like good quality.

Q3. I tried out the zombie face paint on my Autistic 7 year old and he coped/liked the experience and results

Q4. I found it easy to apply and use, although i did need a fair bit of water as the paint was fairly dry. Once it loosened up a bit, it was easy to apply and looked fab on his skin.

Q5. Yes I would recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family. I thought the colour pigment was good and it had good staying power.
Easy to take off with a wet wipe.

Q6. Yes I would buy Snazaroo facepaint if I am in need of face paint in the future. I've tried other brands and they don't have as good colout pigmentation or staying power, Snazaroo definitely the best I've tried.

Snazapoo · 21/10/2015 12:09

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Vaguely but I'd never used them myself.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I was very impressed by the kit and the booklet with ideas. It was a much better kit than I normally grab from the supermarket.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

So far we have done the cat and witch from the booklet.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

I found them very easy to apply in general all though I found it tricky to get a consistent finish with the sponge. They were easy to use though and gave great colour and coverage.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely. They worked so well and even though I have absolutely zero artistic talents I thought the finished result was very impressive.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I will buy them again as they were effective and easy to use.

Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, we love Snazaroo in this house. I tried so many varieties when they were little but eventually found these and have stuck with them ever since.

What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

This was a perfect size package with exactly the right colours for a Halloween facepaint session. It was great to see the darker green, orange and brown included.

Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

We went a bit offroad! DD wanted to paint herself and the full face designs were tricky so she painted a pumpkin and then we created another design adapting from something we found online.

DS painted me as a pumpkin thing. He loved using the sponges and went onto paint a skeleton on his arm.

How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

They were so simple. I had faith in letting the DCs paint themselves and each other.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why?

Yes, I have already recommended the Halloween set to several people. The format is perfect.

In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I will definitely be buying Snazaroo in the future. I love that they go on really easy, are removed without dragging the skin and that they come in so many colours including metallics. We will remain a family of Snazaroo fanatics.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? Yes. I have seen them in the stores and I have a friend that uses them for her Facepainting business

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? The box was nicely laid out and included a sponge and brush with was very useful. The colours that I was planning on doing wasn't there (light green) so I wasn't able to do the design that I had hoped.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? I made my son up to look like a creepy skeleton

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? After wetting the sponge, I found it easy to apply the white base. It went on smoothly and looked even

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would. I am not very artistic but I was pleased with my overall effort. The paints were easy to use, lasted long enough and were easy to remove.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. I would definitely buy this brand of facepaint. My son has sensitive skin and had no negative reaction to these at all.

  1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? I was vaguely aware of the packaging but if out on the spot I wouldn't have known the brand name. My boys have only just been interested in face painting
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Overall I am pleasantly surprised Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Adam picked the Dracula (which surprised me) Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? The facepaint goes on nicely particularly with the brush. Adam didnt like the sponge provided he said it was too scratchy soxi switched to an alternative face paint sponge from another brand. The white is a little washy but other colours are great. Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? I would recommend it as a starters kit - nice size and colour palette. Would have liked a yellow so we could have attempted more in the booklet provided. I was assuming that the designs would be all Halloween. Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. Often! Adam has asked to have more designs painted and I am registering as a child minder so this would be great to add to the repertoire.

Many thanks for choosing us to test, we had great fun preparing our makeup for Halloween.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

I wasn't aware of them.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Very impressed. We loved the booklet to show step by step how its done and the results weren't too bad at all.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

The pumpkin on my 2 year old and the ghoul for my 4 year old. They loved it so much that we'll be dressing them up as that on Halloween.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Very easy, colours go on nicely

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely, it applies nicely on the skin and is easy to remove

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

Definitely would, I like how it applied, no issues on my sons skin and I like the step-by-step instructions.

Thanks again!

LadyMacmuffintop · 21/10/2015 16:59

Q1. Yes, I was aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in the test but have not had any for quite some time.

Q2. My overall impressions were that the face paint is great quality, it was a perfect little kit for Halloween with great colours for spooky/scary characters or designs. I liked the fact that it came with a sponge and brush and an ideas booklet.

Q3. We tried the tiger, the monster/dinosaur and the red fox.

Q4. The face paint was easy to apply and use. I would have liked a rounded/pointed brush for some of the lines but I am sure the more adept have managed fine with the flat brush!

Q5. I would definitely recommend Snazaroo face paint to friends and family.

Q6. I will definitely buy Snazaroo again. It's a lovely product with no adverse effects on young skin, easy to remove and doesn't smudge too much. The colours are great with good coverage - a little goes a long way. I enjoyed applying it and the children loved wearing it. It really seemed to spark their imaginations and we will be trying some other designs for Halloween. Thank you!

LadyMacmuffintop · 21/10/2015 17:03

Addendum:

I've just looked at photos I posted above and remembered that we did have a slight issue! Pink cheeks on the fox which are meant to be white. The white didn't sit on top of the red as it looked as if it would from the instructions in the booklet. It may be that the red wasn't dry enough but might be worth clarifying or changing the instructions slightly...

Loula117 · 21/10/2015 18:30

Just had a go with with my 7 year old DS who was keen to be a zombie, he was very pleased with the result and wanted to go and scare people immediately. Older DS has homework but I will attempt to paint him up tomorrow. PS. Please note he's doing his best 'gormless dead' face!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? Yes I was, they're the brand I've seen used at school and playgroups.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? I thought it was a good sized kit, hopefully the lid will mean they don't dry out. The paint brush was nice and fine and I found it easier than I expected to do detail. I might try using a wedge shaped foundation type sponge in addition to the round one that came in the pack for other designs. The colours all seemed appropriate for Halloween designs, although a yellow would have been good for cats' eyes/moon/stars
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? DS wanted to be a zombie so that's what we went for. I thought it would be fairly easy to start me off!
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Really easy, considering I didn't have much previous experience. Just as I said above, another shaped sponge might be handy to have. It was also suprisingly easy to remove, I just gave him a good wipe over with a Simple Micellar cleansing wipe and it all came off.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes definitely, it was quick and easy and very little wriggling involved, plus it wiped off so easily I didn't have to ruin my flannels!
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. I'd certainly rather go for a tried and tested brand like this than try an unknown - it works well and who knows what might be in lesser known makes?

Many thanks for letting us try it out - Halloween won't involve any masks that the DC can't see out of this year!

florencebabyjo · 21/10/2015 19:58

place marking too!

nailsathome · 21/10/2015 20:35

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? Yes I had heard of them.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? It was difficult to get the cellophane off and there were a lot of dark colours but it was fine once I had convinced my 4yr old we didn't need yellow! The size was adequate for family facepainting for an occasion.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? We did the witch design, she really liked looking through the booklet.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? I would need to spend a bit longer playing around with how much water to use to get good coverage. It was ok with the brush but a bit wishy washy with the sponge.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes although they do need to be removed after a couple of hours otherwise they stain a bit! A wet wipe wasn't enough, we all needed a good scrub in the bath (I had had my face painted entirely purple though!).

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. I would buy them, they are a decent quality for a reasonable price.

Maniacalparrot · 21/10/2015 21:07

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, I have seen these before at Hamleys and one of my kids received a gift which was some face painting crayons before when they were younger.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Great size kit with all that we needed for some Halloween make up outfits. There was everything we needed in the pack with a sponge and brush and good selection of colours as well as a leaflet with some ideas. It was very convenient to have everything included in one pack.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Vampire

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Remarkably easy to apply even for a non artistic type like me.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely. My son loved. It was a great activity and would be good for a party or to have in w cupboard for dress up parties, Halloween or even a rainy day.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would buy as this was much easier to put on than I thought and really easy to get off. Much less messy than lots of face paints my kids have had on at parties.

Yes i would recommend, they are a reasonable price easy to use & wash off.

chambord · 22/10/2015 10:53

Thanks for my facepaint kit. We have had fun using it!

Q1. Yes I was aware of Snazaroo produsts. I facepaint for the nursery where I work for Christmas and summer fetes and have built up a good selection of colours and kits.

Q2. Nice kit, good selection of colours and good instruction guides. Having a brush and sponge provided is good.

Q3. We tried the pumpkin and the spider web which were easy but effective designs.

Q4. Easy to apply and good colour coverage. I usually cut the sponges in half to use as they are not always easy to get in the small paint holes. I find using the individual big colours better when doing the facepainting for lots of children.

Q5. Yes would always recommend as easy to use and comes off easily too.

Q6. Will always buy snazaroo as its so easy to use, easy to remove and the colours and kits are great.

BeautyQueenFromMars · 22/10/2015 13:59

Goodness, there are some rather good artists on here! I'm useless with a paintbrush, as you can see from the pic...

Anyway, on with the questions.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
No, I hadn't heard of Snazaroo before

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I was impressed. All the necessary colours were there, and I liked the easy-to-follow instructions.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I attempted to do the vampire one.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
It was very easy to apply and use. Good coverage, and I liked that it doesn't go on too thickly - you can have it pale or layer it on to make it stand out more.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. It's easy to use and easy to remove, although the red one does need a bit of an extra scrub.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Very likely. It does exactly what it's supposed to and it's a doddle to take off again. We've tried it, we liked it, it makes sense to stick with it!

Thanks for giving us the chance to try these facepaints. They came in very handy, and DS loved being 'made-up'. We'll be using them a lot during the half-term holiday!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
No not heard of them.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween Facepaints?
I liked the booklet with ideas and the layout was easy to use in the packaging.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I did the tiger and the green dragon as in pics.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
The brush was great but I found the sponge too big for the size of the paint pot, maybe a couple of sponges of different shapes would be better.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely, good selection of colours and lots of designs to suit all.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I'd definitely consider Snazaroo if needed as they were safe on my children and easy to wash off too.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? No I hadn't heard of the brand before.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Its good quality. Comes out dark and thick and easily mixes.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Tiger.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Very easy. First time doing myself and quite please.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would. Its good quality and easy to use. The booklet was useful for design ideas.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. Yes I would. It went on easily an my child had no rash or reaction once taken off.

SaltySeaBird · 22/10/2015 20:29

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, we've had other sets, it is the only face paint brand I will use, or will allow to be used on my child.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Excellent - bright colours that go on well and make even the least artistic effort look really effective.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
We've done a couple - the troll one, a pumpkin and puppy dog. All of them were easy to follow and surprisingly looked just like they did in the booklet!

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy - you don't need a lot on the sponge as the coverage is really good and the colours are exactly as they look in the palette. Can Snazaroo start making foundation too please?

The only thing that was tricky was peeling off the little plastic discs that cover the paint.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, absolutely. My child has very sensitive skin and she gets a reaction from quite mild soaps and lotions. Yes Snazaroo (initially used by recommendation) are fine for her. If she is at an event with a face painter we always ask what brand they use, and only allow her to have her face painted if they use Snazaroo.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Yes, 100% will buy again. My child loves having her face painted and it's a regular activity - Snazaroo is the only brand we trust for this.

ToftMum · 22/10/2015 20:47

Q1. No, my older son has just turned 3 so I hadn't thought about faceprinting until now.
Q2. I liked it. I liked using the brush and the fact that it was relatively easy to get a good colour, and it was super easy to wash off. The things I didn't like were that the packaging says 40 faces, and there were only 20 pictures in the brochure, and not all of those are possible with the colour palette.
Q3. I have no imagination so used a picture from the brochure. My boy chose to be a knight.
Q4. I'm no artist, but it was pretty easy to use and the design was easy to follow. I found the hardest part trying to make small circles with the brush (and keeping my boy still).
Q5. Yes I would recommend it. My boy loved being a knight and cried when it was time to take it off Sad and I'm keen to try more designs and improve a bit.
Q6. I would buy Snazaroo in future now that I've tried it and I know it works well.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
The white vampire face

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy to apply with the brush and sponge. DS said it felt cold!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would definitely recommend.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Would definitely purchase it again once this set runs out!

Loved them - thanks for a wet afternoon's entertainment! We had a practice run yesterday in advance of our Halloween party next weekend and they were a huge hit with DS (3)

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
No, hadn't heard of them
