This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test? No I wasn't.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint? Good choice of colours. Easy to use and to remove with no sensitivity.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
My DD didn't want to use one of the designs in the booklet. Instead, we got some inspiration from Google and I painted her as a witch - green face with some spiders webs. I also painted my daughter's friend as a vampire.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use? Very easy using the sponge. I'm a bit of a novice using the brush but it came out ok - not to the standard of pro face painters but good enough for what we wanted. The green went on really well all over on my daughter's face. The white on my daughter's friends face didn't really cover/show up that well, albeit she is pale.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I'd recommend for all the points in Q2.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why. I've not used facepaints before and was very happy using Snazaroo so happy to buy again.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

No I wasn't.

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

The selection of colours could have been better, for instance, there was no yellow; even though there were designs with yellow in them. Overall, I was a little disappointed, although it did come out well in the end.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I chose a devil design but that wasn't in the booklet.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

It was quite difficult to apply and blend.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I probably would but probably only due to being able to remember the name as I wasn't overly impressed by it. It does the job but is nothing special.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would buy it if there was no alternative, otherwise I would buy one that had a better selection of colours.

Here is a photo of one of my daughters, dressed up as a devil for pre-school

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, but never used before.
Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
Very good. The colours were quite bright so they didn't need too much layering and it lasted all day.
Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
We did the skeleton and a vampire.
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Very easy, the sponge and the brush are very good. The paints are very smooth and easy to apply.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I fact I already have. I think it's a great product.
Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
Very likely. I was pleased with the range of colours, the applicators and the ease of removal.

TaperJeanGirl · 23/10/2015 17:18

Firstly, massive thanks for letting me be a tester!

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes I was aware, dd3 had her face painted at a summer fair and I asked the woman painting which brand she was using as they went on so nicely

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I thought they were amazing, they covered so well and once dry they actually stay on really well, they don't smear easily at all.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I did the purple spiderwebs on dd3 age 4, and attempted the pumpkin on dd4 who is very nearly 2..

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
I found it really easy to apply, I have used other brands in the past and when I tried to apply them with a sponge it ended up really dry and patchy, the snazaroo paint covered so well and dried really fast, you need to make it fairly wet before applying with a sponge though.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I definitely would ( and already have) recommended it to friends, because you get brilliant results and also most importantly, it didn't cause my kids skin to react, which other face paints have done in the past especially with dd1.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint?
Please explain why.
Very likely, I have 5dc so I'm pretty much always in need of facepaints due to all the dress up days/world book days/parties/Halloween, so I'll always keep a pack handy now, as I know it won't cause a skin reaction and that it will make even my poor facepainting skills look really good!

I have uploaded pics of dd3 and dd4, as you can see dd3 was very willing.... Dd4.... Not so much Grin

Q1. Yes i was aware of these face paints before as we've both bought them and had them used during facepainting at parties and fairs over the years.
Q2. My overall impression was good - great even as i have used other brands and i don't think they are as good.
Q3. We did a few practice sessions (!) including witch, cat, ghost and pirate zombie princess (!!) for which we didn't use the booklet guide.

Q5. I would (and have) recommended snazaroo before
Q6. I think i would probably only ever buy snazaroo facepaints in the future. I'm a big fan of the pallets and have also bought some as gifts.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 23/10/2015 18:50

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

Yes, I have an old set of their paints that have seen us through many a school dress up day

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

Love them! Two of the colours, the orange and grey, weren't in my old set, and I've always had to mix them up before.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

A wolf, fox and tiger.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

So easy. It's not oily at all and goes on beautifully. It doesn't irritate their skin and is really easy to paint on, and get good designs with.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Absolutely, and already have done. I wouldn't buy any other brand. I love it.

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I will only buy Snazaroo! It goes on beautifully and looks stunning. The kids love it. Thank you for giving me a lovely new set to play with!

gazzalw · 23/10/2015 19:11

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?
Yes, we've been using them for years (since DC1 was a pre-schooler), although not bought any in the past few years!

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
I liked them although cleaning the brush so one didn't cross-contaminate colour was quite difficult!

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?
We did the Halloween spider mask (and will do more but it's been a long day and we ran out of time!)

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?
Fairly easy, although the round sponge could have done with being wedge-shaped. And possibly two different sizes of brush would have been very usefulf for fine/filling in work!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would!

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.
I would, although with DD being older, I think this set of facepaints might last the duration (it would only be at an event like Halloween that she would want her face painting these days!).

PS Thanks for giving us a fun way to 'get in the mood' for Halloween. And most impressed at the facepainting skills of Mumsnetters!

A nice selection of colours to be able to create some spooky or not so spooky designs. The book was fab too with ideas and simple to follow. Loved the brush being included too.

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween Facepaint?

First we tried the vampire then he requested a ninja turtle! Which took more thinking!!
Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

Easy to apply, dried quick and easy to remove also.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definetly. Would be my first port of call. Honestly I wouldn't consider another type.

Q1. Were you aware of Snazaroo face paints before taking part in this product test?

I saw the brand while looking for facepainting on Amazon last year but didn't purchase it,

Q2. What were your overall impressions of Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

The colours where dark, maybe too dark, and a bit of glitter would have been nice,

Q3. Which facepaint design did you use on your DC to test out Snazaroo’s Halloween facepaint?

I did let dd (4) look through the booklet provided with the set and she chose a butterfly which I had to adapt as the colours were not the same.

Q4. How easy did you find the face paint to apply and use?

It was quite easy, the only thing I would say is that the brush was maybe too small and the sponge too big for some details

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Snazaroo facepaint to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend Snazaroo as the quality is good, but maybe not the Halloween set as the colours are too dark

Q6. In future, how likely are you to consider buying Snazaroo facepaint if you were in need of face paint? Please explain why.

I would most probably buy it but a different set with more girly colours (but that's only because my little girl is all about princesses, fairies and glitter)
