This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

My DS is 2.5 & we tested size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Really happy with them, they are a good fit, not too bulky & had no issues with leaks.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They were great, had no trouble with leaking in the day or at night.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

They were very absorbent.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would, but it would depend on the price as we are very near to potty training anyway.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I can see these would be great for any stage once your baby is crawling, would make nappy changes far easier!

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes I would happily recommend.

First of all THANK YOU a lot!We loved Pampers Baby-Dry Pants!
Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very satisfied, fantastic product, soft, easy to put on and take off.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Brilliant, no problems, no leaks, baby was running happy at daytime and slept peacefully at nigh time.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good!No leakages, baby was happy all the time!
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Oh, Yes definitely will buy in future. I have very wriggly baby, who just can't lay still more than for 3 seconds, with pampers baby dry pants nappy changing, was like Formula 1 pit-stops, fast, reliable and hassle free.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Pants make live easier fro mums who have strong willed babies who hate nappy changing and can't wait still.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Already recommended,very good product!

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Yes, they did the job, so satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Really well. Held everything in - went through the night. Didn't smell.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - if at the right price point. Good thickness, feel good quality
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, i thought they were just for potty training. Soon much easier to get on baby. My baby rolls over all the time when changing her nappy, so a pull up is so easy
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, great product especially for wriggly toddlers

We tested size four nappies on our 5.5 month old son.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Excellent during the day and at night, though they did 'swell' more than our usual nappies. Couldn't contain our son's massive runny 'explosion' poos - but we've not yet discovered a nappy that could!

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent.

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would love to buy them but know they will be more expensive then our usual nappies (Aldi) and, as the Aldi ones work just as well I. Terms of dryness, we couldn't justify the difference in price.

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
We were totally converted after being very dubious to begin with! Our son rolls straight on to his front when we change him and then wriggles like crazy which can make putting nappies on a pain! But with these nappies it doesn't matter which way he's lying or even if he's 'standing', you just pull the nappy up! We weren't sure the nappies would come off so easily - I had images of using scissors to cut it off but the sides were very easy to open and he could then be wiped clean etc just as with 'normal' nappies. Ok they don't roll up into a ball as well when disposing of them but there was tape to roll them up a bit so not a huge concern.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Absolutely because they are easy to use, keep the baby dry and are very comfy - but they will be more expensive than other brands which will put lots of us off.

Thanks for picking me :)

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Pretty well, I'd say an 8/10
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
We had no issues at night, however we had a wee leak from a leg as soon as DD had been changed once, so from a fresh nappy. I was quite surprised and disappointed at that.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
9/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not. The leak was a big no, perhaps the shape of the leg doesn't suit my DD or perhaps they aren't a neat enough fit in general. I found they also swelled up much more than our usual brand, and as DD is walking it's awkward and not very comfortable for her to have huge fat pants! I'm guessing these would also be much more expensive than our usual brand (Aldi's Mamia), so that plus having to change more frequently for comfort/leaks means further expense.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I loved the 'pants' aspect, again as DD is walking, she doesn't like to lie down for nappy changes… at least not for long. However, the flip-side of the 'pants' is that DD found them very easy to pull down!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I would certainly rate them, and they also seem beautifully soft for delicate skin, but they're not for us.
knittingbee · 28/09/2015 11:30

Thanks for picking me. DD is 16 months and we trialled the size 4.

We trialled size 4's on my 13 month old.
Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
We were very satisfied

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They were great. No leaks. No complaints.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Again great - no problems with leaking.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would but not so sure at current price point. Supermarket own brand nappies are so much cheaper and just as good in terms of dryness/leakage not sure I could justify extra expense for convenience of pants.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
It did convince me as nappy changing - particularly putting the clean nappy on was so much easier with pants. I did find though that I still tended to tear the sides when changing rather than pulling them off.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would - i think it then comes down to how much you want to spend on nappies whether you chose to continue to use them.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I found them good for both night and day, no leaks here!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
No leaks and kept my LO dry. Some other nappies feel wet to the touch but these seem to lock in the moisture better.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, if the price was right!
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, my LO seemed to like being stood up for her nappy changes so I think I like the pants format better.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would but again they are a little expensive like all Pampers products so I would probably recommend them when there was a good offer available.
McBaby · 28/09/2015 13:22

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Satisifed no leaks for my 3 year old overnight and also tried on my 18 month old with some leakage overnight.
Their skin also felt wet in the morning when taking the nappy off compared to our normal brand.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Not tested in the day good at night.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Both felt wet and clammy in the morning when taking the pull up off.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
YEs the top band is very soft and snug so no leaks over the top. But they do leave them with clammy bottoms. They would need to be cheaper than current pull ups we purchase.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
YEs for 18 month old who is happy to put a pull up on and won't lay down for a nappy change.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes for fit but not for dryness.
SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 28/09/2015 13:41
  • Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying
14 months, size 4
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Extremely satisfied. They fitted really well and we had no leaks at all.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They kept DD really dry between nappy changes during the day and the elasticated waist band helped them fit her extremely well. I think the waist band is excellent for stopping poo leakage up the back (as this tends to be the direction we get occasional leakages with other nappies). They also performed very well at night too, keeping her dry for 12 hours.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10 out of 10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would. For the dryness and he waistband design and overall fit.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I was unsure whether they were aimed a potty training initially, due to the pants design (and agree with others that have suggested you might want to make this aspect clearer when marketing them). I do still change my DD lying down on a changing table, so it does take a little more effort to pull up the 'pants' than a traditional nappy would. Having said that, I did get used to this and am sure as she gets bigger I would stand her up to pull them up with no problem. I think this is a minor issue which is far outweighed by the excellent fit of this type of nappy.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes if it came up in conversation.
cmc1976 · 28/09/2015 14:05

I tested these on my 18 month old son he tried size 6.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Initially I was impressed but as he used them more and more they seemed thinner on the width and sagged more than normal nappies. They were good though for being out and about as he does wriggle a lot getting changed. I put them on after swimming as easier to use in a small changing cubicle.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Good in the day but became very heavy the longer left on so I was loath to try them at night to be honest.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? The dryness was excellent to be fair they did keep him very dry
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I would buy them to keep in my handbag for when we are out and about. But it would depend on price.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? I have never used pants for potty training with my first and won't with my son. I would use them for out and about use.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Not for fit but definitely for dryness.

Thank you for choosing me as a tester!

StuntNun · 28/09/2015 14:16

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

My child is 34 months and he tried size 6.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Extremely satisfied. We are in the midst of potty training and the other pull-ups we have been using haven't been working out: too difficult for my toddler to pull up and down, prone to leaks, and always falling down. With these ones the elasticity makes them easier to pull up and down but also holds them up better so they don't fall down through the day. They also seem to hold more so we haven't had leakage issues.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
About the same performance as nappies.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good - no issues with nappy rash or leakage.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely, they are far better than the other pull-ups (Huggies, Sainsburys, Tesco) that I have tried.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I was already using pull-ups before potty training as it makes it easier to change a todder when out and about since you don't need a change mat.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
For dryness I don't think they offer anything over conventional nappies but for fit they are really easy to put on and much more secure than other similar types of nappy. I would recommend these to other parents.

Overall I'm very happy with these pull-ups and I hope to be able to buy them soon until my todder is toilet trained.

CheeseEMouse · 28/09/2015 15:23

My daughter is 2 and we tried the size 5s.

We were satisfied with the product and they perfomed well through day and night. We didn't really ever get on with baby dry nappies and found active fit had fewer leaks, but these have been fine.

I would consider buying them again - we are on the verge of potty training, I have a very interested toddler who enjoys (!) going to sit on the potty so much easier to have pull ups rather than the nappy.

I don't think I would necessarily buy the pants for my younger son before potty training as the regular nappies you can change without fully undressing the bottom half of the child whereas pull ons you can't do that as easily.

I would recommend them - though remain hopeful for actual pants soon!!

milliemoon · 28/09/2015 16:17

We have been using size 5 and my son is 2 and a half.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, they were good quality and seemed a lot softer than other brands we have tried.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They kept my son dry and he could easily pull them up and down
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
They kept my son dry Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I would definitely consider buying them again if the price was acceptable
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
They are easy to put on so no fiddling about with tabs
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would.
Emus · 28/09/2015 16:20

Ds is 2.5 and wears size 6.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

  • I am very satisfied. I have always used Pampers Baby Dry nappies but had just started using Pampers Easy Ups, not because we are potty training (we aren't!) but to make life easier for ourselves as nappy changes don't always go well in this house!

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

  • So far so good! We've finished the pack now and didn't have a single leak or accident at night or during the day. The same can't be said for Easy Ups though. The leg seal is much better on the Baby Dry Pants too.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

  • They performed exactly as Baby Dry nappies do - so as expected (excellent). No nappy rash incidences (although these are rare anyway) so they are super dry, even when presented with a fat wet nappy in the morning!

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • Already have them on order from Ocado (they have them on introductory offer at the moment!). I love these nappies, so so quick and easy to put on and look very comfy for my ds to wear. I really love the elasticated waist band.

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • As mentioned above, we aren't potty training but chose them (well, Easy Ups) for convenience. Now there's a Baby Dry version we will be using these going forwards with the added bonus that once we do start potty training, it should be an easy transition for ds (who is currently afraid of actual pants!!).

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

  • Absolutely!! In fact I already have :-).
Emus · 28/09/2015 16:22

CheeseEMouse - you don't have to undress them to remove the nappy - they are designed to tear at the sides for quick and easy removal (which we do if it's a poo nappy!).

Therewasanoldladywho · 28/09/2015 17:48

Thanks for the chance to participate. My son is 8 months old and tried size 4.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
The first time we used them they leaked through all his layers during his morning nap! I found it difficult to get them on a wriggly baby, and he did his little boy 'pee when the nappy is off' trick before I could get them up to cover him. I would like a dryness/wetness indicator.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I didn't try them during the night as I was worried they would leak. When awake, they performed well and I was happy with them.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Overall, same as normal Pampers.
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Quite satisfied, but the pain of getting them on puts me off them.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, because of getting them on wriggly baby. When he is able to stand, I would probably consider them.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
No. Because of above reasons.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?s.
Yes. For older children.

Thanks.

JayBag · 28/09/2015 19:01

thankyou for letting me try these!
Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.
15 months
Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
i was very satisfied with these, they worked well and made changing times a lot easier.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
they performed really well; there wasn't a single leaky nappy.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
they lasted the whole night so very highly.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
i would if they were value for money. Shop own brand nappies work just as well as pampers and are better value for money, and when watching the pennies I have to go for the cheaper option.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
At first I wasn't too sure, but as the days went on they did convince me. DS is very wriggly at changing times and it made changing nappies a lot quicker and mess free
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would

They were really good, no leaking at all and also no smell or urine in the morning

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

I would, they seemed really comfortable and I was very happy with the fit.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - it is much easier to change a wet nappy whilst out and about with the pants as you don't have to lie them down to do the nappy up.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes :)

Thank you for letting me try them out :)

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

They were a bit of a disaster for us - DS has had a spate of terrible runny poos and getting them off without getting poo everywhere was a challenge.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They were fine for wees
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Nice and dry
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think we'll need to wait until teething is over - normal nappies are just quicker and easier to remove in an emergency
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
As stated above!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Suitable for babies that don't have the same tendency to messy nappies.

Thank you - gets me thinking about the near future of potty training

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I was really pleased with the Pants my DC was comfortable and dry
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Fantastic no leaks, spills or midnight changes of clothes
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
as with all pampers they have the best dryness around she has a dry bum in the morning as the pants absorb alot
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes as I love pampers and my DC is getting more aware of her own bodily functions and tries to help out and she liked them.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes and No, because they would be perfect for potty training but also great to slip of when you have a quick change with a fast moving toddler who hates to lye down for a bum change. I was able to get them on and off easily without the fight of making her lay down.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes and I have already, they are dry comfortable and make life a little easier
Mama2bubs · 28/09/2015 22:00

DS is 22 months old, we tried size 5.

  1. They were ok, the fit was good.
  1. They performed well during the day. I found in the mornings that the pants were very wet and had soaked through to his pyjamas.
  1. The dryness was satisfactory during the day but not so great at night times.
  1. I might buy them if the price was right but I think I would only use them in the daytime.
  1. They were convenient when out & about or needing to make a quick change. However I found that when my son had nappy rash it was quite awkward to apply nappy cream and pull up the pants without making a mess. Also with nappies i don't need to fully remove my sons trousers to change him as I did with the pants.
  1. Yes for fit, maybe not for dryness.
