This thread is for the 15 Mumsnetters who tried Universal’s Decorative Egg Wraps with their DCs.

Here’s what Universal say, “These shrink to fit Egg Wraps featuring your favourite movie characters the Minions, E.T. and E.B. The Easter Bunny are great fun to watch – place one around a medium hard boiled egg, add to boiling water and they will shrink around the egg to make a cool Easter breakfast or the basis for movie themed Easter Egg hunt! Better yet, these wraps are free with selected kids DVD’s starting from just £3. Titles include Despicable Me, Hop, Coraline, Moshi Monsters, Mr Bean and Curious George and many more.”

Non-testers: Have you ever used Egg Wraps before with your DCs? If so, what did you think of them? If not, do you decorate Easter eggs in another way with your DCs?

Everyone who adds their comments to the thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £150 John Lewis voucher!

Testers: We’d like you to answer the questions below but please feel free to add any other thoughts you may have.

  1. What were your overall impressions of the Egg Wraps? Did you like them, or not? What did your DCs think?
  2. Which Egg Wrap was your favourite? Why?
  3. Can you describe to other Mumsnetters how you had to use the Egg Wraps? Did you find the overall process easy, or not?
  4. Do you think you’d recommend them to friends and/or family if it came up in conversation? If so, why? If not, why not?
  5. Do you think you’d use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I've never seen these but would love to have a go with the kids.

Haven't seen any on sale so far? Hope they available shortly

lizd31 · 14/03/2015 16:29

I've never heard of egg wraps, stick to the tradtional paints

happysouls · 14/03/2015 16:48

Wow I've not seen these before, they look fab! I'd have to say though it kind of takes the creative element away from egg decorating. They'd be fun to use once or twice, but overall I think I'd rather stick to pens, paints, gluing and general chaos!

ohmite99 · 14/03/2015 16:59

I'd never heard of egg wraps

No I have never used them but what a lovely idea and probably a lot less messier than our random gel decorating and our icing and sprinkles attempts!

I've never heard of wraps for Eggs before but they look a great idea - sound easy and quick and a bit less messy than using felt tip pens!

Gilla01 · 14/03/2015 17:17

Never used them but they look interesting.

We normally just use felt tips or food colouring in the cooking water.

Ikea1234 · 14/03/2015 17:27

Have never even HEARD of them, let alone TRY them!! Will have to keep my eyes peeled for them!

spotit · 14/03/2015 17:35

Have never used the wraps. We use food colouring to paint our eggs.

BigfootFilesHisToesInYourTea · 14/03/2015 17:37

Non-tester, not heard of them. Like the idea of blowing the eggs and then wrapping them as decorations - we normally just decorate cardboard 2D eggs and laminate them - hang them off branches in the garden etc.

juju3 · 14/03/2015 17:37

Not seen these or even heard of them but they seem l;ike a great idea

jenniwren12 · 14/03/2015 17:46

We've not used egg wraps. And we don't generally decorate any eggs, I might start doing so now though

JoJoY · 14/03/2015 17:48

My girls and I used shrink wraps on eggs for the first time last year and they were so clever. The designs were pretty and it was so easy to get a very professional looking effect!

eloisemummy · 14/03/2015 17:49

Never heard of egg wraps, they sound fab though and think my daughters would think same. we decorate eggs with all sorts of odds and ends :) like these :)

shivbrown · 14/03/2015 18:02

Me and the children decorate real eggs, blow out the egg into a bowl then decorate with paint and varnish them, My children love doing this it’s their second best thing to do after eating the chocolate from there Easter egg hunt x

janeyf1 · 14/03/2015 18:16

Non-tester. I have not heard of Egg Wraps but they sound like a great idea and I am very curious to try them. My DC will be decorating Easter eggs in the classroom on the day before the holidays

Marg2k8 · 14/03/2015 18:18

I have not heard of them. I used let my children decorate the shells of hard boiled eggs with felt tipped pens. They used to draw faces on them and stick wool on them for hair.

I've not heard of these. We usually use felt tip pens and boil them with a teabag first.

feefeegabor · 14/03/2015 18:52

No, I've never tried egg wraps. We usually just use felt tip pens to decorate our eggs. My daughter does like to stick on gold stars too!

prwilson · 14/03/2015 19:15

I've never tried them, they do look good fun though.
