DD is 5 months and using size 3 nappies

What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Whilst I agree with others they are less bulky than some other nappies they just do not suit my daughter. They did not seem as good a fit as our regular choice (either Mamia or Boots). Also she has sensitive skin and can develop nappy rash very easily, which we control with cream, so having changed nothing about our routine only the nappy brand used she was suffering more and in a shorter time.

How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
During the day she is changed very regularly as she is a 3 hour feeder and generally her nappy requires a change beforehand (and sometimes soon after as well). In that time they were okay, no seepage but on a few occasions I noticed her clothes felt damp, even though I could detect no signs of seepage. As this has not happened before I could only put it down to the nappy.

At night, she is a sleeper (yes I know we are hated for this by other parents) and can sleep through from 8pm to 8am. When she did we would find that the top layer of the nappy stuck to her skin and needed to be very carefully peeled away from her. This again aggravated her skin which does not happen with our regular brands.

Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I asked DH what he though, without giving my opinion first and he said the same - that he did not think they were as good a fit for our daughter and that they seemed to increase the nappy rash even after short periods of wear. For her sensitive skin they are not right.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
I wouldn't as from my experience they are not as good as other brands and are more expensive so to me certainly not worth the money.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Liked that they were thin and soft to touch and good stretch to put on. Did have a very clinical smell though.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
Whilst using them had several poo incidents with it leaking up babies back which does not happen with other nappies I use. They cope well with wetness at night, however do blow up very large.
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Would not use use again due to the poo leakages.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
No
vixo · 15/10/2014 20:51

I had size 4+ and used them with my 22 month old (I also used them at night a few times on my 3 year old as she also wears a 4+ at night).

When dry they were definitely thinner and more flexible than our usual supermarket own-brand nappy, but I don't think that alone would be enough to persuade me to use them.

Like other people I found they had a really unpleasant smell when wet, which I've never noticed with our normal nappies. I didn't think they were noticeably any drier than any other nappies we've used, and I also didn't think the fit was any different - to warrant the 'active fit' label. I felt they performed fine, and we didn't have any leaks, but again, they weren't any better than the nappies we usually use.

I wouldn't use them again. They're much more expensive than our usual brand, and I don't think they're any better.

I wouldn't recommend them as I don't think they represent good value for money, and I don't think they're any better than the nappies we usually use - which I would (and do) wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who asks!

superoz · 15/10/2014 20:51

dd is 8 months old, size 3+.

Overall impression is good, they fitted well especially around the thighs - some brands do not fit well as her legs aren't that chunky. They feel a lot thinner than the Baby Dry nappies.

I only used the nappies during the day, mainly because they felt so thin and I preferred to use the Baby Dry nappies for night especially as she is still waking up for a night feed.

They performed very well and she was dry even when the nappy was full.

I would definitely use again, although I would prefer to buy when on offer as previously mentioned by others the Baby Dry ones are cheaper.

I would definitely recommend these to other parents.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
they are slim, and a good fit. they are easy to use.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
My daughter is only 3 months, so she isn't very active. I am sure they would be much better on toddlers. the nappies performed well with no leaks in the day or night.
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not on my 3 month old, but yes when she is older. It isn't worth spending the extra money on them at the moment.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?

No, not for a small baby. maybe for older toddlers or if friends where having problems with leaky nappies.

Helish · 15/10/2014 21:07

Overall impression was very good, they're soft and thinner than other nappies I've used. Good strong tabs and fitted my long but skinny twins. Didn't notice a smell, but that may be due to having a blocked nose. Kept both babies dry and comfortable, day and night. One twin tends to have poos that go everywhere but nappy kept them contained.
I would recommend them and I'd definite ruse them again, the only drawback is price. They're more expensive than other nappies and cost comes before anything else, particularly as cheaper brands can be used overnight etc

Peppaswellieboots · 15/10/2014 21:15

DD is 21 months old, size 4.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Thinner than current brand. Nice pattern on them.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
No leaks during the day, not so great at night, pyjamas are coming out wet/damp. They smell awful, even if it's just one wee :(
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not, I can't stand the smell.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
They're ok if you don't have a sensitive nose (I may be very sensitive to smells whereas the next parent may not notice)
DinoSnores · 15/10/2014 21:32

DD, 19mo, size 4

Overall impression - thinner than the usual nappies, didn't notice the smell others have mentioned

Performance - fine, no leaks day or night

Use again - probably not, Tesco nappies have been just as good and are much cheaper

Recommend? - possibly as they were fine but expensive

Panda173 · 15/10/2014 21:44

Dd is 7 months old and size 3
Overall impression
Nice light and thin with a good pattern.

Performance thru day and night.
Daytime - excellent, no leaks, good fit and stayed on well.
Nighttime. - better then usual pampers baby dry. Not to bulky at end of night and no leaks. I normally have to use 3+ in baby fri to ensure not overfilled.

Would use again?
Yes. they performed very well at night. I would bear te expense for night time. However in the day I would stick with cheaper supermarket brands which perform as well.

Would I recommend them.

Yes. I would.

HalfATankini · 15/10/2014 21:50

I tested them on dd aged 2 (almost 3) in size 5

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?

Very slim, strong tape attachment, attractive product.

  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
Great. I'm surprised by how many people mention leaks. We had no issues at all with leaks and dd wees a lot
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would assuming I could get them at a price not much higher than the equivalent (I normally use an active fit version of Boots or Tesco own brand)
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, I was surprised just how stretchy and slim they were.
PostmanPatPat · 15/10/2014 21:55

Tested size 3 nappies with ds, nearly six months old. He has been wearing size four for the last few weeks. It was unfortunate that due to the delay in starting the trial, ds is on the very upper weight limit for the size 3 nappies, and had I know about the long delay I would have requested size 4 nappies.

What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?

Nice slim nappies but there is a smell to them. When changing every three hours they worked well without wet leaks. The smell is much lesser than it was two years ago though.

How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?

The first day we had two major poo leaks, during the rest of the trial there were a few minor poo leaks and a few wet leaks. I think the wet leaks may have been due to being in the nappy for more than four hours though.

I didn't test these nappies overnight as he has been in size 4 nappies for a few weeks now and the size 3 would have leaked overnight.

Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I wouldn't buy pampers at full price. They are not significantly better than our normal brand (Sainsbury's) to pay the price difference for active fit. I prefer the pampers baby dry as they have no smell, so would buy these in preference when pampers are on a cheap deal.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, but I would also mention smell and cost as disadvantages.

Trinpy · 15/10/2014 21:57

Used on ds, age 6 months, size 4.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?

Really soft, stretchy tabs that stay put! Not massively impressed with the absorbancy - Pampers Baby-Dry are better imo. They had a horrible chemical smell which started to make me feel a bit sick after a few days of using them.

  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?

We had one poo leak during the day. It wasn't a huge poo, but he'd been sitting in his car seat so might have been stretched at a funny angle? Wee leaked out overnight on half the nights we used them. No poo explosions up the back though, so the fit must have been good.

  • Would you use them again?
No, the smell alone would be enough to put me off using them again! They're so expensive as well when cheap Lidl ones work fine during the day. For nighttime, I find Pampers Baby-dry better for leaks.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes for fit - the stretchy tabs were great, but not for dryness.

BinarySolo · 15/10/2014 22:02

13 months size 4

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Ok. Thin, nice design and they fitted well. They did smell a bit after they were used.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
No leaks so all good
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Only if they were in offer as I didn't rate them any higher than aldi.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
Maybe. But I'd be more likely to aldi as they're as good but far cheaper.
bigbella26 · 15/10/2014 22:05

My son is 16 months old and we tried the size 4+ nappies.

What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?

Very positive. They are lovely and soft and thinner than my usual nappy with no leaks. I imagine that they are a little more comfortable for my son too.

How did they perform through the day and night?
They performed well. I had no leaks in the day or overnight.

Would you use them again and if so why?
Yes I would use them again but would only stock up when they are on offer. My usual brand are a very good price and do the job well so only offer prices would tempt me away.

If it came up in conversation would you recommend the nappies to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes definitely. The fit was great on my boy who is on the slim side and the nappy always felt dry.

Other comments: I didn't notice any chemical smell that some have mentioned.

Sks541 · 15/10/2014 22:33

My daughter is 5 months old & wearing size 3.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
V slim/lightweight & generally good fit. Stayed dry but smelled a bit
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time? We did have a couple of exploding poos which came up the back so perhaps some form of elastication at the back would be good. There was a pretty strong chemical smell, but the nappies were v absorbent and stayed dry to the touch.
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would use them again but alongside my regular brand. They are less bulky than other brands but whilst good at remaining dry they don't cope well with explosive poos!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes for dryness but not so much on fit.
Walkinthecountry · 15/10/2014 22:33

Tested size 4 with a 9-month-old baby

- What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Noticeably thinner than other brands. Less cardboard-y than other brands. not elasticated at the waist, but still seem to fit okay. Chemically smell. print is attractive - I strongly dislike nappies that have cartoon/Disney characters.

- How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
Okay - not perfectly. They seemed to be alright for wee, though felt a bit damp on the outside after use at night (i usually use Babydry at night). We had a poo leak today, though and I am constantly frustrated that there does not appear to be a nappy available that can contain the occasional poonami. (Ive tried many different nappy brands, and this is my second baby; in my experience no nappy brands are perfect)

- Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would consider using them again. When my LO is more mobile, the thickness of the nappy will be more noticeable to her, so I would be more likely to use.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
I would give my honest opinion that they have a good fit and are okay for dryness, but not perfect.

Blink1982 · 15/10/2014 22:34

We used size 5 on ds.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
I liked them. I preferred them to baby dry definitely. They have been very successful.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
I was worried about night time because weve been using 5+ hes 34lb the pack i got was just 5 so although they fit fine i was worried about night time because hes a heavy night wetter. I usually use 5 in the day and 5+ at night. They were great, weve only had two occasions where his clothes were damp around the top of the nappy in the morning, which is good considering i thought itd be more because they were just 5s. Dp thought they smelled ok dry, i thought they were awful, but only if i stuck my nose right in.
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes i would, i would probably buy the 5+ though for more peace of mind.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes i would, i like how they are slim too, much slimmer than even mamia, and none of the awful smell we had with baby dry.
NoodieRoodie · 15/10/2014 22:41

Dd is 11 months and in size 3

- What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Very thin and soft

- How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
Absolutely fine no leaks but DD isn't prone to leaking anyway.

- Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I liked them but not for the price. I normally use Lidl nappies and they're not much thicker than the Pampers and a hell of a lot cheaper!

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
Probably not as I know that the cost would be off putting to most people.

LouisaJF · 15/10/2014 23:23
  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
The nappies didn't seem too bulky and felt soft and comfortable.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
During the day they weren't too bad but at night they leaked. This was not just at the edges, my baby's vest across the front of the nappy was often damp, as if it was seeping through the material.
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would be unlikely to use them again as they were not dey enough during the night. I am a regular user of Pampers Baby Dry and have found these much more effective.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and
No, there is too much leakage to recommend them.
LouisaJF · 15/10/2014 23:25

Sorry, DS is 7 months old in size 4 nappies.

mummyofcutetwo · 16/10/2014 00:21

DS is 2 and he wore size 6

- What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
I thought they were great. Soft and comfy looking. DS seemed happy in them. Not bulky so didn't restrict movement, even when "used".

- How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
They worked well day and night but I think I'd still use baby dry at night.

- Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'd definitely use them again. Money's tight but the most important thing to me is DS's health and wellbeing so I'll be buying them when they're on offer at supermarkets' baby events etc.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit
Yes, I would and have!

Bankholidaybaby · 16/10/2014 00:24

13m in 4+

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?

They are much thinner than the Baby Dry ones I have been using so I can fit more of them in the little bag I carry (I babywear 90% of the time). They smell really, really peculiar. They seemed to cope very well with wee, but not poo.

  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?

The first one I used, he had the worst poo explosion ever. I don't know if this was the nappy's fault or not. They coped very well with wee during the day, and we only had one nighttime wee leak, but we had several poo leaks

  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have just bought some but only because there was a 3 for 2 offer at Boots. I think I'll stick with Baby Dry in future as they don't have such a weird odour.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, but I'd have to mention the smell and price!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 16/10/2014 00:41

I got 4+ for ds 14 months
I thought they were very soft but did have a weird smell when out the packet. The tabs worked very well and sounds odd but the felt more expensive than the Aldi nappies I normally buy. I liked the different pictures on them as well.

When I changed ds when just wet they were very squishy and not solid like the other nappies I use so was sometimes difficult to tell when needed changed, even thou I normally change him every 2/3 hrs during the day.
They did fine at night and he woke up in the morning with a wet nappy but no leaks.

Unfortunately due to 3 days of morning poo explosions within the time limit of waking and walking to the living room before he was changed they did leak. And did leak with poos a few times.

I may use them again instead of aldi if I can't get there, but they are more expensive so wouldn't be my first choice.

It was interesting to try them as I had previously written off pampers when ds was about 5 months as they leaked every time. So was happily surprised.

I may recommend them for dryness especially if the person had a nappy rash prone child as I think it would be beneficial.

Marking place for morning

MadameoiselleMarple · 16/10/2014 09:21

11 month old boy, size 4.

  • What was your overall impression of Pampers Active Fit?
Nice, slim, not bulky, I was a bit worried the sticky tabs might be a bit small to keep them on, but they were fine. Chemically smell though which I don't like.
  • How did Pampers Active Fit perform through the day and at night time?
Really good during the day, he is wanting to be down on the floor crawling and pulling himself up to stand all the time, and I found when it came round to changing him they looked the same as when I put them on. E.g sided hadn't twisted, sticky tabs hadn't moved. I felt confident going out and about that he would be dry until I needed to change him. At night time, there have been a couple of times when his pyjama bottoms have been damp in the morning, so don't think there as good as lasting as long as current nappies or the baby drys.
  • Would you use them again? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'm not sure I would because of the smell. I dont know what mKes the smell but because it smells chemically I don't like the idea of him being in them all the time with them next to his skin. If the smell wasn't an issue I don't think there is enough of a difference in the way they perform compared to the nappies I use (Mamia) to justify paying more.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Active Fit to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes but would tell them about the smell.

Thanks for sending me a pack to try!
