AngelieMumsnet · 29/09/2014 14:53

This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out the Weight Watchers programme.

Weight Watchers say: “With 50 years of success behind us we understand how to make losing weight simple, delicious and fun; but we also understand how challenging it can be when you’re facing it alone. Join us to lose weight, feel fantastic and achieve great things. You can follow our healthy eating plan completely online with support from our unique community, or benefit from attending our lively meetings, for personal coaching and weight loss guidance.”

Testers: we'll be asking you to add feedback once a week - we'd like your first impressions now and every week after that, we'll be posting some new questions for you to answer.

So, in terms of your first impressions...

~ Will you be going to meetings, following the plan online or a bit of both?
~ Why did you sign up to test out the Weight Watchers plan?
~ What sorts of foods do you think you'll be eating following the plan? Will it be a big change for you?

Everyone who adds their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £100 Asda voucher, good luck!

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Weight Watchers on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Just back, I lost 0.5, which is better than I expected on the week that I usually put on. I had been very good all week, so hopefully will have a bigger loss next time.

Knowing that I won't be back until after Christmas is making me want to eat lots of chocolate today, so I am trying to focus on 2 pounds left to my 10% at WW/ 100 pounds in total.

In my local Budgens, they have a range of WW products on the shelf, I can recommend the bags of Chocolate Oat chip cookies and they are only 2 PP a bag.

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 16/12/2014 12:43

Well done sixgeese

Just stay strong (ish) over xmas. ;)

ShyPhilosopher · 17/12/2014 00:37

Yes, well done sixgeese. It's tricky staying on track at this time of year, isn't it?

Our group leader was fighting a losing battle at the last meeting, trying to encourage us all to keep counting our propoints over the festive period. She even suggested we could do Christmas Day as filling & healthy. I think I'm going to try & exercise a bit, so I can earn activity ProPoints. That way, I can have the occasional Christmas treat guilt-free.

Good luck with sticking to the plans over the coming fortnight ladies. Remember how far you have come, but that it's also ok to slip a little as long as you get back on track afterwards.

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 19/12/2014 16:15

Loving trying out filling and Healthy on christmas day Xmas Grin . It's never going to happen.

Have been v dedicated this week so far, in anticipation of a successful weigh in on Monday. Just the weekend to navigate don't offer me a walk to the pub please, dH

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 22/12/2014 10:16

Yay!! 3lbs off this week so have lost morr than required for my 10%.

Very pleased with myself Xmas Smile

ShyPhilosopher · 23/12/2014 01:35

Oh well done gin, you've every right to be proud of that (especially during such a tough week).

I had a 1.5 pound loss this week, which puts me just 1 pound away from my 15%. Somehow, I don't think I'll have a loss next Monday though Wink

iwantgin · 27/12/2014 10:34

Thanks shy

your loss is good too.

Meh, well maybe not next Monday - but perhaps the one after?

I have been bad (dish) this week. Not ridiculous amounts of pudding and chocolate, but certainly some decent grub and a few wines. It's funny that I am now fed up of the eating and am looking forward to getting back on plan.

I bought the new mag at meeting and have had a quick flick through so far.

My monthly pass expires on 22 Jan - I was hoping to get to goal while this product testing is still in force i.e. so I don't have to pay! Will have to try extremely hard to get there. Goal is just 5lbs down from my 10% weight.

Hmmmmm...

Sixgeese · 29/12/2014 16:50

Well done shy and iwantgin, it is great to see that you have had losses while I have been away.

My group is just open for weigh ins tomorrow, so hopefully I can find out that the Christmas damage isn't too bad, while I have tried to be good, I do loveChristmas pudding (cake and chocolates too)

ShyPhilosopher · 29/12/2014 21:26

Well, I really overindulged last week. I made sure I earned enough activity points to cover the ProPoints over my weekly amount. Was amazed tonight to find out I'd lost half a pound. Really didn't expect that - nearly skipped my meeting too. Just goes to show, even using your full allowance you can lose weight.

Sixgeese · 30/12/2014 10:16

I managed (despite the Christmas puddings and cakes) to lose 6 pounds over the last two weeks, like shy I exercised and counted.

So happy, I have just over a stone to go and monthly pass runs out mid February, so 6 weeks to do it before I have to pay.

iwantgin · 30/12/2014 17:41

Wow - you two have done well despite the Xmas binge-fest we have all just had! Well done.

I weighed myself on Monday morning at home as no meeting until next week. Gained 2lb. Not surprised - and am very pleased it wasn't more.

We are all a bit 'off' food at the moment. i made two soups yesterday - a parsnip and a lentil and veg soup. We had soup for lunch and soup for dinner. With leftovers for the rest of the week!

iwantgin · 05/01/2015 20:00

Weighed in at first meeting since Xmas.

Official gain of 5lbs (since 22nd dec). Oops.
I know what to do.....

Sixgeese · 05/01/2015 20:10

I was just checking to see how you had done, that isn't that bad really, after all it is over two weeks, Christmas and the New Year with all the corresponding cakes, biscuits, chocolates and alcohol which is laying around the house at the time.

At least now you have a new starting point, and can draw a line and start again, you still have a few weeks on your membership and I am sure that you will be able to get it off again in no time.

ChristmasEva50 · 06/01/2015 06:54

Just a quick word of warning. Weight watchers have tried to take money from my account again. Fortunately I don't have any so they didn't get it but it could leave some people overdrawn if they have a different type of account.

iwantgin · 06/01/2015 08:01

Yes, six - I sort of expected it. It wasn't so much Christmas - as this last week of getting into the habit of lounging around in pubs and eating out- waiting until 'back to school' to get serious again.

Thanks for the heads up Christmas. Will keep a look out. I am, however, going to pay for another month when my pass expires. As I really want to get to official ww goal. I have enjoyed the plan and the classes - and am not too far off goal, hence free membership from then on.

ChristmasEva50 · 06/01/2015 09:23

I've only lost 10lbs Sad but have had some health problems which have prevented me exercising as much as normal and have sts over the festive season so will probably pay for a few months myself to see if I can get going again.

Sixgeese · 06/01/2015 13:54

I lost 2 pounds this week, hopefully I will be able to keep losing as I am the closest I have ever been to goal - I put on a pair of size 14 jeans yesterday, and they weren't even tight. Considering I had been size 24 for most of my adult life, it is lovely to be getting down to healthy weight.

I will keep an eye on my Credit card bill, but as I intend to keep going I should be paying now anyway. Before Christmas when the three month test was up, I did call WW and ask what did I need to do, and they said nothing, I was paid up to mid February. They also sent me a paper monthly pass with the February date on. I do feel very guilty about it though and would like to pay properly.

To date I have lost 25 pounds at Weight Watchers and 106 pounds in total.

hippoherostandinghere · 07/01/2015 07:35

I have been charged again. I thought the membership would cancel automatically, really not happy at all.

iwantgin · 07/01/2015 08:04

Well done sixgeese.

Ah hippo - that's a shame, better get on to them.

ChristmasEva50 · 08/01/2015 16:06

I emailed WW to ask what was going on (not to cancel) and this was the reply:-

So I'm still not sure exactly what I am being charged for. I think I will just cancel.

Sixgeese · 08/01/2015 22:04

Eva how much did you get charged and what was the expiry date on your Monthly pass?

My one has an expiry of 20th February and when I phoned they in December they said that I wouldn't be charged until then.

Sixgeese · 08/01/2015 22:06

You are right though, that email doesn't really make much sense. I hope that the people on the test that aren't checking the thread don't get a horrid shock when they get their Bank Statements.

ChristmasEva50 · 09/01/2015 07:52

I don't know how much they were charging me as it don't have any money in that account and it can't go overdrawn so WW request for funds was refused by the bank. I have emailed to ask how much it would be. I would quite like another month but can't really afford it at the moment. I was at the doctors yesterday and considered asking about a referral but couldn't quite bring myself to say it. (He didn't mention my weight and I thought I ought not to draw his attention to it).

My monthly pass goes up to the 20th January.

iwantgin · 09/01/2015 09:05

Could you try re-registering - it's only £10 for the first month for a new member ?

iwantgin · 09/01/2015 12:22

I've just noticed that my Monthly Pass now has an expiry date of February. So I think that means that I will be charged. Nothing showing up from my bank account yet though.

I don't mind paying for another month or two - I want to get to goal and remain there.
