This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out the Weight Watchers programme.

Weight Watchers say: “With 50 years of success behind us we understand how to make losing weight simple, delicious and fun; but we also understand how challenging it can be when you’re facing it alone. Join us to lose weight, feel fantastic and achieve great things. You can follow our healthy eating plan completely online with support from our unique community, or benefit from attending our lively meetings, for personal coaching and weight loss guidance.”

Testers: we'll be asking you to add feedback once a week - we'd like your first impressions now and every week after that, we'll be posting some new questions for you to answer.

So, in terms of your first impressions...

~ Will you be going to meetings, following the plan online or a bit of both?
~ Why did you sign up to test out the Weight Watchers plan?
~ What sorts of foods do you think you'll be eating following the plan? Will it be a big change for you?

Everyone who adds their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £100 Asda voucher, good luck!

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Weight Watchers on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,

I did not lose any weight this week. I feel OK about that. Planning to up my activity a bit and hoping to lose this week.

lunar1 · 22/10/2014 14:06

I have lost 8lbs so far. I haven't made drastic changes since starting ww because I was already losing weight and had made massive changes to diet and exercise.

I go to the gym and swimming 4/5 times a week. I will admit I'm not really using the points system as I am attached to the calorie counting on mfp. I am using the recipes though, and the changes I made to my diet seem to fit in well with the ww system.

Had a bit of a victory yesterday - remembered about a dress I had bought from eBay and when I'd put it on it looked so tight across the tummy, it was deeply unflattering. It looked like I was pregnant. I was really disappointed as I loved the dress apart from that, so stashed it in the cupboard in the hope that it would look OK at some point.

Anyway, last night I put some Spanx on and tried on the dress and it looks.... great!

Eva50 · 23/10/2014 16:03

- How much weight have you lost to date?
Weigh in this morning and lost 1/2lb. That's 8lbs altogether.

- Alongside the Weight Watchers plan, what other changes have you made to help you on your journey?
I haven't really made any other changes. I normally swim 40 lengths 4 x weekly but the children are on holiday from school at the moment which has curtailed that a bit. I did buy some nice count-on-us meals in M&S with some vouchers I was given to make life a bit easier.

Another WW negative! My monthly pass has run out and I have not yet received a new one through the post so I had to show the online one on my phone at the meeting. It does seem to be a bit disorganised.

dobedobedo · 25/10/2014 09:58

I have a drawer full of mostly jeans that I no longer fit into. All sizes, from size 6 to size 18 (but next skinny so small fitting). Well, one pair of jeans is now back in circulation people! Woo hoo! Grin Grin Grin

Eva50 · 25/10/2014 10:44

dobedobedo that's brilliant. I have an entire wardrobe of clothes that don't fit, some things still with labels attached. No size 6's though, I grew out of them in primary school!!!

If I can keep going I hope the first lot will fit by Christmas and perhaps I can ask Santa for a few wee bits to make some nice outfits from what I have.

iwantgin · 25/10/2014 11:01

Well done ! That's a nice feeling to be able to dig out the too small clothes.

I refuse to buy the next size up -so HAD to try and slim into existing clothes. I have an evening event to go to in a couple of weeks, so am hoping that last year's New Years Eve dress will fit me now. I'll wait until nearer the time to try it on.. ;)

BellaVida · 25/10/2014 11:38

Had my week 4 weigh in and to my surprise have lost another 2 lbs.

Total so far is 11 lbs in 4 weeks!

So pleased and I haven't even felt hungry at all. I've been doing the Filling & Healthy with 49 extra points each week, which makes it really easy as there is less tracking. It has also made me really just how bad my habits had got and how easy it is to prepare healthy meals from scratch. I think I will stick to Filling & Healthy for now, as it seems to work for me. If I reach a plateau, I will probably go totally ProPoints. We'll see.

Well done to everyone!

ihatethecold · 25/10/2014 13:26

well done bella

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 25/10/2014 17:07

How much weight have you lost to date?
I've lost 6lbs so far...not hopeful of a loss this week as had an unplanned 'playdate' after school and the mum brought out masses of home-cooked food and put a load on to my plate...I felt t would be rude to refuse!

Alongside the Weight Watchers plan, what other changes have you made to help you on your journey?
I've not made any major changes however I really want to cut down on processed food and have more meals made from scratch with healthy ingredients and so I am making an effort to do this.

iwantgin · 27/10/2014 11:07

oooh - weigh in tonight.

Am always so nervous about it.

Had a sneak weigh this morning - the numbers were good. But lots can happen between now and 6.00pm!

Teladi · 27/10/2014 19:25

Well done Bella!

I have a question - how did you decide on your goal weight, especially those of you who did not have too much to lose when they began this?

I'm thinking about changing my goal weight. I was already in the 'healthy weight' range when I started this but wanted to lose weight so my clothes would fit and I would look better in them. Thing is, I didn't actually know how much I weighed when my clothes fit, so I think I just put in the lowest 'healthy weight' as my goal. Thing is, they all seem to fit now, and I look in the mirror and see a real difference, so I'm thinking I might be almost done. My next goal is going to be to increase muscle and I'm thinking I'll have real difficulty maintaining a really low goal weight while also changing my muscle/fat composition. Does this make sense at all? I don't want to be a quitter but I don't want to set myself up for failure after this either.

iwantgin · 27/10/2014 19:33

Bam! 2.5 lbs off this week. So that is 12.5 lbs in four weeks
. Grin

iwantgin · 27/10/2014 19:35

teladi set your goal at whatever you like. Maintaining that weight will still require work so don't feel like you are taking the easy option.

Are you going to meetings or just doing online?

Teladi · 27/10/2014 21:03

Well done on your weight loss iwantgin, 2.5lbs is great! And thanks for the advice. I'm just doing online otherwise I would probably ask at my meeting what I should do. My understanding is that 'maintenance' on the WW plan means you get a few extra points Grin but other than that still operates the same. I think really I am happy as I am at the moment, could maybe do with a few more lbs off but only one or two. I thought I had really stacked on the weight which is why I set my goal weight so low, but thinking now this was maybe my 'regular' weight after all… I feel a bit silly now as I could have done something about it any time!

ShyPhilosopher · 27/10/2014 21:43

Well it looks like I was right about Filling & Healthy not giving me a healthy diet. Lost 4.5 lbs this week at my 5th weigh-in, earning my 2nd silver 7. My total weight loss currently stands at 1 stone 1.5 pounds. My group leader commented that I should be losing no more than 2lbs a week, but I've been eating 3 meals a day & snacking - I haven't been going hungry. I've therefore switched to just counting Pro Points, so I can see when I haven't eaten enough in a day.

iwantgin · 28/10/2014 09:13

shy well see how Pro Pointing goes. But I am in a similar position to you - have lost 12.5lbs in four weigh-ins and am happy with that. I have also been following F & H all along, with snacks. The -only major change I have made is cut out the boozy evenings/afternoons (with the accompanying peanuts and cheese and cracker snacks).

If you haven't been hungry then I see nothing wrong with that loss tbh. It will slow down at some point.

Teladi · 28/10/2014 10:31

Shy firstly well done on your weight loss. I have to say it's quite responsible of your leader to be pointing out that that is a significant amount of weight to be continually losing and that your caloric deficit must be a bit higher than it should be rather than just giving you a high five. Grin Impressed at that, WW!

I also found that I wasn't eating enough on Filling and Healthy (but I was hungry) and ProPointing has been working better for me in that regard.

Teladi · 29/10/2014 09:16

So I decided on Monday that I would change my goal weight and brought it up by 3lb to 9st 9lb.

Today was my weigh in, and I made goal! Which I wasn't expecting.

I have gone from 10st 6lb to 9st 9lb with WW ProPoints Full Counting. My jeans now look awesome and I am thrilled. I know I did not have a huge amount of weight to lose but I would recommend WW to any reformed crash dieters who actually want to lose their small amount of weight rather than feel overwhelmed by it, give up after a week or end up eating 4 Snickers bars at the end of the day due to lack of calories (I have done both) If you are like me and are already at a healthy weight, but feel unhappy, also be surprised at what a small amount of actual weight loss can do for your figure.

I am now looking forward to giving maintenance mode a good old test and see if I can keep the weight off in the run up to Christmas.

By the way WW when you read this, it would be good if you got a big 'Well done, you made it to goal' message and the plan manager would change from weight loss to maintenance mode automatically... I'm not sure if this didn't happen because I am using an pre-existing log in... either way if someone is returning after a long time away from WW (in my case, 8 years!) this should probably be reset.

Teladi · 29/10/2014 09:17

Oh yeah and I'm also looking forward to seeing whether following WW can support my other objective which is to change my body composition a bit (muscle/fat ratio). I think it should, but we shall see!

iwantgin · 29/10/2014 09:20

That's great Teladi

Good luck with the maintenance. Is there a plan for it on line?

Teladi · 29/10/2014 09:40

So basically you have to go into the Plan manager and change your Goal (in the bit where you can change from Filling and Healthy to Full Counting) you change it from Lose Weight to Maintain Current Weight. Then you get an extra 6 points in your daily allowance. Other than that, it operates in the same way as Full Counting. My guess is the extra points make up the caloric deficit that the 'losing' point amount would have had you eating, so that your weight should stay the same.

So really, it's not any different than Full Counting except you get to eat more! And I think it should be sustainable.

iwantgin · 29/10/2014 13:34

That sounds pretty straight forward then.

I am while away from goal.

Eva50 · 30/10/2014 19:25

1lb loss today, that's 9lb so far. It does seem quite slow but I have never been someone who loses a lot at once and I'm sure it gets harder the older you get.

Well done Teladi

Eva50 · 30/10/2014 21:48

Has anyone had a new monthly pass through the post. My first one is out of date and I haven't been sent another.
