AngelieMumsnet · 29/09/2014 14:53

This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out the Weight Watchers programme.

Weight Watchers say: “With 50 years of success behind us we understand how to make losing weight simple, delicious and fun; but we also understand how challenging it can be when you’re facing it alone. Join us to lose weight, feel fantastic and achieve great things. You can follow our healthy eating plan completely online with support from our unique community, or benefit from attending our lively meetings, for personal coaching and weight loss guidance.”

Testers: we'll be asking you to add feedback once a week - we'd like your first impressions now and every week after that, we'll be posting some new questions for you to answer.

So, in terms of your first impressions...

~ Will you be going to meetings, following the plan online or a bit of both?
~ Why did you sign up to test out the Weight Watchers plan?
~ What sorts of foods do you think you'll be eating following the plan? Will it be a big change for you?

Everyone who adds their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £100 Asda voucher, good luck!

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Weight Watchers on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Had a very unhealthy week, last week. Couldn't exercise due to pulling a muscle & was therefore comfort eating due to the pain. Was relieved not to have gained anything. Is my first week without a loss, but I'm just glad I stayed steady rather than gaining.

Sixgeese · 26/11/2014 10:29

I have got to save all my weeklies this week, DH and I are leaving for Paris (without the DC) Friday morning. I am going to take a packed lunch for Eurostar and Oats so simple to eat for breakfasts in the hotel room, but am a bit worried that I am going to have a big gain. Got to think only 4 meals out of my control and we can do a lot of walking (around all the Christmas Markets)

iwantgin · 26/11/2014 11:31

Ooh that'll be a lovely trip.

I bet you'll be fine you know. But yes, save your weeklies- and just make wise choices when dining out.

iwantgin · 26/11/2014 11:35

shy - well, if you were injured then it's pretty good to have sts isn't it. Hopefully you'll be back to full fitness soon and will be shedding more lbs left, right and centre :)

I haven't been out running for 3 weeks now - as have v tight achilles at the mo. I have been doing some Shred, and Ripped in 30 etc, but it isn't the same calorie burn as a 45 minute run. However I don't 'think' it has affected my weight loss much. I have just been careful to eat a little less.

iwantgin · 27/11/2014 09:42

Have any of you taken measurements as well as relying on the scales?

I haven't, but wish I had.

This mornings NSV was that my Levis fit with room to spare. I actually had to use a belt. Winner :)

Last time I wore them they were v tight, and created a lovely muffin top ??

MaryannM · 27/11/2014 11:27

HOW HAVE YOU FOUND THE WW EXPERIENCE OVER THE PAST MONTH?

Well I'm making good progress - I've lost another 6lb so it has been good.

I have been making use of the online tools and the recipes too.

In would be disappointed if I was attending the meetings and was a paying member because I wasn't sent another monthly pass after the first one. To me that's basic admin and as a paying customer I would expect better in that regard. I am not attending the local meeting as it runs over my baby's bedtime so the membership card is not an issue for me as I'm doing the plan online.

I'm surprised how well I'm doing by doing the plan online, initially I thought that it couldn't motivate me as well but its given me lots of inspiration :-).

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE WW PLAN?

I think the plan is great, it is easy to follow and I can use it flexibly around the whole family and our day to day family life.

WOULD YOU RECOMMENDED WW TO OTHER MUMSNETTERS AND/OR FRIENDS AND FAMILY? WHY?

Yes, I most definitely would recommend it because it works! It is flexible, versatile and I love the recipe ideas which can be used for the whole family. I am not starving myself and I feel good. Which is more than likely why I've stuck to it!!

Sixgeese · 27/11/2014 17:37

I did measure after my leader suggested it when I only had a small loss the first week, I am waiting for the 3 months to be up before I re-measure. I only did bust, waist and hips.

iwantgin · 01/12/2014 13:14

Weigh in today.

Am a pound up. I did expect it tbh after a weekend of eating and drinking.

Am definitely smaller though. I tried on a couple of dresses for parties and was pleased.

Def on full steam ahead this week.

Sixgeese · 01/12/2014 17:12

Never mind, there is always next week, you had been doing so well and you are still over 1 stone down from your start weight.

I fully expect to be up this week too after Paris at the weekend. I just hope that I haven't put too much back on.

iwantgin · 01/12/2014 20:03

Yes six geese I'm sure I can shed it and more by next Monday. My aim is to get to mt 10% by xmas so 5lbs in three weeks??

Goood luck with your weigh in. Whatever the outcome a weekemd in Paris has to be worth it :)

Sixgeese · 02/12/2014 14:14

I gained a pound this week as well, I would hate to think what I would have gained if we hadn't done all the walking we did.

Back to tracking properly this week to try and shift it.

At the group this week, we were given a new (free to members) meal builder book with suggestions and recipes for breakfast lunch and dinner as well as the new pocket pro point guide. I will have to make time to sit down and have a read.

ShyPhilosopher · 02/12/2014 16:22

I think gaining a pound is completely understandable at this time of year. It's colder, so we want our comfort foods, plus the shops are full of tempting stuff. Just think how much both of you have managed to lose so far Smile

I has a 3lb loss this week, I appreciate it's rather high but I was struck down with Norovirus last week. My total weight loss is therefore 25lbs so far, which according to the app is a milestone I should ensure my leader knows about!(?) I'm just over 2 stone above the upper limit of a healthy weight range, but the big thing for me is that my BMI is no longer in the 30s. I am therefore now just overweight, rather than obese - what a lovely early Christmas gift.

I really think I am going to continue with Weight Watchers even after the trial finishes.

AngelieMumsnet · 04/12/2014 15:08

Thank you for all your feedback!

If you would like to, please feel free to continue posting on this thread.

The winner of the prize draw is Teladi - congratulations! I'll PM you shortly for your details.

iwantgin · 07/12/2014 13:45

That's great shy - and am impressed that you want to carry it on after the trial ends

I am hoping to get to goal by then- so I won't have to pay - but Yes, I too have enjoyed getting stuck into the whole diet plan thing.

My aim is to get to 10% loss by the meeting on the 22 Dec ( our group wrote christmas pledges). However this morning's weigh-in at home shows that I COULD get that before then. But weigh in at group isn't first thing inthe morning, or naked Grin

Sixgeese · 08/12/2014 14:02

Good luck for todays weigh in iwantgin , let me know how you get on.

I have been given an extra ticket for DD2 Christmas Concert tomorrow morning, I am going to resist going (I am going tomorrow afternoon anyway) and still go and get weighed, I was trying to work out a way of doing both but I don't think it will be possible.

DD2 will still have an adult going and waving at her as my DM is going, and I will give the ticket to DH on the off chance that he can nip out of his school for a hour, it is unlikely that he will be able to as it isn't fair on the A level students that he is due to teach.

iwantgin · 08/12/2014 20:11

3lbs this week. Off.

Nice one.

I hope to get my 10% next week - or if not definitely the following week. Just 2lbs to go to get that.

:)

It does pay off doesn't it. I find tracking using the app on my phone so much handier than writing things down.

ShyPhilosopher · 08/12/2014 21:25

Teladi congratulations on winning the vouchers.

Also, well done iwantgin for your weight loss. I lost a similar amount this week: 3.5 pounds. That means my 4th Silver 7, meaning I've now lost just over 2 stones. When I started this trial, I didn't ever think I'd lose anywhere near that much.

iwantgin · 08/12/2014 21:31

Teladi - well done on your prize. I meant to mention it - but got carried away. :) tbh I'd forgotten about the prize draw :)

shy that's great. 2 stones!

No, I didn't think I would lose so much either - having done WW/SW/any diet before. perhaps it's the sticking t it and not quitting when there is a blip. If I were paying per week I might have got a bit pissed off when I had a gain or not lost as much as anticipated.

I think perhaps that it's been successful is that there are a variety of ways to stick to plan. ProPoint, or Filing and Healthy - and mixing them up during the week. Much more flexible really.

Sixgeese · 09/12/2014 08:42

Well done everyone.

I know we don't have to, but it would be nice if at the end of the test everyone could say how much they have lost.

I intended to stay at WW (and not go back to my SW group), now just got to work out how to do that.

Sixgeese · 09/12/2014 11:40

I lost 3.5lbs this week, just another 2.5lbs to go for my 10% (or my 100lbs since I started losing weight a few years ago)

Unfortunately next week will be my last before Christmas as we go away as soon as school breaks up so I don't know if I will get there in 1 week, but I will try my best.

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 15/12/2014 07:14

Excellent sixgeese

I've had a bad weekend, so am contemplating delaying this week's weigh in. I know there are classes elsewhere later this week.

I was doing okay until I spent the weekend with DH. When I am busy doing jobs alone, and he is wrking I eat to the plan. This weekend we went out shopping inthe city - drank wine/beer/champagne. Yesterday spent most of the day watching tv- with a piece or two of xmas cake, glass of port etc..

This morning the weight on my bathroom scales is not telling me what i want to see.

):

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 15/12/2014 18:32

Sts.

Better than expected.

ShyPhilosopher · 15/12/2014 20:32

Well done to both of you, it's not easy even staying the same at this time of year. I've managed to lose one more pound, so am just 2 pounds off having lost 15%. Am now fitting into clothes I haven't been able to wear for over a decade. I find I'm enjoying food more now too, as food such as chocolate is an occasional treatment that I really savour it.

Sixgeese · 15/12/2014 22:02

That's great news both of you, fingers crossed for me tomorrow.

I think I will have to weigh and runs as DD2 has a rotten cold and unless a miracle happens overnight she won't be well enough for school and all the older ladies in my morning group (nor the Mums with preschoolers) will appreciate a 5 year old coughing all over them.

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 16/12/2014 07:51

Fab! shy

Yes, report back six

Today is a 'feeling determined' day.
