This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out the Weight Watchers programme.

Weight Watchers say: “With 50 years of success behind us we understand how to make losing weight simple, delicious and fun; but we also understand how challenging it can be when you’re facing it alone. Join us to lose weight, feel fantastic and achieve great things. You can follow our healthy eating plan completely online with support from our unique community, or benefit from attending our lively meetings, for personal coaching and weight loss guidance.”

Testers: we'll be asking you to add feedback once a week - we'd like your first impressions now and every week after that, we'll be posting some new questions for you to answer.

So, in terms of your first impressions...

~ Will you be going to meetings, following the plan online or a bit of both?
~ Why did you sign up to test out the Weight Watchers plan?
~ What sorts of foods do you think you'll be eating following the plan? Will it be a big change for you?

Everyone who adds their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £100 Asda voucher, good luck!

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Weight Watchers on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

I have mentally set a personal goal for this test. I would like to lose at least 10% (preferably more), when I get to 10% at WW, it is also 100 pounds lost in total since I started my weight loss journey a couple of years ago.

Hopefully now I have shared my goal, I will now feel accountable to the rest of you too.

ihatethecold · 16/10/2014 14:06

That is bloody amazing geese.
I hope you feel very proud of yourself.

Sixgeese · 16/10/2014 14:09

Still got a little way to go, but definitely doable in this three months test, just got to stay motivated.

Eva50 · 16/10/2014 14:32

I went to the meeting this morning accompanied by ds3 (8) as schools are on holiday here. I lost 2lbs so that's 7.5lbs altogether. I'm pretty pleased with that. I have pointed out to ds that whilst we don't have "secrets" there are some things that the teacher doesn't need to know.

Teladi · 16/10/2014 14:34

Well done everyone! Sixgeese it's great to make goals! We will be keeping an eye on you Wink and you've done so well so far!

hippoherostandinghere · 17/10/2014 06:20

Still no refund yet. It's left me very short, I'm really disappointed about this.

dobedobedo · 17/10/2014 07:06

I got a refund now. Hopefully it won't be long for you!

iwantgin · 17/10/2014 10:13

still waiting on my refund here too.

I can not stop eating this week. It's not junk- but I am sooo hungry. Hope that it doesn't equate to a gain next Monday?? Have been doing a lot of running - so hopefully will balance things out a bit.

Off to go and neck lots of water now.

;)

Ledkr · 17/10/2014 10:31

I've been A bit naughty but it was my birthday. I made the Ww lemon curd cake which is lush, for my birthday cake.
I will get back on track on Monday tho as I'm away for the weekend with dh Wine
When I say naughty it's an over statement as I can't eat any fat so still pretty good, just not tracking.
I went to my local Indian last night and they cooked me my favourite dish with no ghee or oil which was delicious after many curry free months Grin

Teladi · 17/10/2014 11:35

Well I just had a random 'Secret Eaters' interlude when I went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea (at work) there were pots of mini rocky road bites and mini flapjack bites, so I had one of each (one bite, not one pot!!!). I mean it's not the worst thing ever and I think I even have the points for them within my dailies - though I will need to work them out. But I gulped them down like no one's business, along with accompanying guilt.

I think I need to probably eat a bit more so that I don't feel the need to do things like that.

Ledkr it doesnt sound like you have been naughty before - as far as I am aware you are plenty allowed to eat out and enjoy yourself on WW, just plan appropriately!

AngelieMumsnet · 20/10/2014 17:20

Thanks for your feedback :)

Here's the next set of feedback questions:

  • How much weight have you lost to date?
  • Alongside the Weight Watchers plan, what other changes have you made to help you on your journey?
OP posts:
ihatethecold · 20/10/2014 17:59

I have lost 7lbs in 3 weeks.
I have also cut out sugar which has made me feel so much healthier and got rid of health problems I have.
(Headaches and tiredness)

Sixgeese · 20/10/2014 19:21

I have lost 5.5 pounds in two weeks (next weigh in tomorrow morning so hopefully a bit more now)

I haven't made too many more changes apart from not cheating on the plan. I have been using the app to track all the exercise and food I eat, it is making me really think about what I eat and even sneaky treats are being tracked.

Sixgeese · 20/10/2014 19:27

I should also say that I had been 'doing' Slimming World prior to this, so was already walking a lot and trying to eat properly, I had got into bad habits though and had started cheating and thinking the small extra bits didn't need to be counted.

Ledkr · 20/10/2014 19:43

Back to tracking today, been ok but I'm really craving something sweet now and only have 3 points left Sad
Luckily we have nothing in so no temptation!!

iwantgin · 20/10/2014 19:49

How much weight have you lost to date?

10lbs in 3 weeks! Pretty happy with that :)

Alongside the Weight Watchers plan, what other changes have you made to help you on your journey?

virtually quit alcohol. i think each week so far I have only had one day per week where I had any booze. I pointed each drink too. Been drinking more water - which isn't as easy in the colder weather, but I am trying to ensure I take a little bottle out with me to drink at opportune moments.

I have been following Filling and Healthy so far - thinking of trying to count Ppoints this week. But it's just been so easy to not have to weigh things.

I did treat myself to the fancy WW scales today. They are £10 off in-meeting. I thought it would make Ppointing easier - as I don't have any digital scales anyway.

Teladi · 20/10/2014 20:12
  • How much weight have you lost to date?
8lb, next weigh in on Wednesday.
  • Alongside the Weight Watchers plan, what other changes have you made to help you on your journey?
Not much really. Doing the plan has made me cut down on my snacks and also think about what is an appropriate snack and what isn't. I was already exercising a bit so I've continued with that.
ShyPhilosopher · 20/10/2014 20:25

How much weight have you lost to date?
Today marks the end of week 3 for me & at tonight's weigh-in I found out I'd lost another 3lbs (despite another week with birthday cake in it). My total weight loss is 11lbs, which means I got my 5% award tonight.

Alongside the Weight Watchers plan, what other changes have you made to help you on your journey?
I've been wearing a Wii Fit U Fit Meter, which encourages me to walk more. I have also started using the MyFitnessPal app to keep track of how balanced my diet is, as I was concerned that the Filling & Healthy meals weren't very balanced. I found out that they are too focused on carbs & too heavy on the sugar, plus I am eating far too little fat & calories every day. (We're talking around the 800 mark some days). Even on my son's birthday, when according to Weight Watchers I'd had 19 of my weekly 49 Pro Points, I'd still had too little fat & around 1500 calories.

MaryannM · 20/10/2014 20:37

I'm delighted that I have lost 7lbs so far!

I have started more exercise, I'm doing 3 x 40min sessions on the rower a week.

Weigh in on Thursday ...

iwantgin · 20/10/2014 21:52

Some good results all round!

Who is ProPointing and who is following Filling and Healthy?

ihatethecold · 21/10/2014 08:05

I'm pro pointing.
Although I haven't imputed for 2 days. Blush

iwantgin · 21/10/2014 08:59

Oops ihate !!

:)

I am still doing F & H. And barely using my weekly points.

I did say that i was going to Propoint this week - consultant says it's okay to do a day on one, a day on the other? But I think I will stick to F & H - as i have shopped accordingly. Have a weekend away soon - so will have to Propoint for that (wine, wine and wine) :)

Sixgeese · 21/10/2014 10:04

Well after sticking to plan all week and counting everything I have gained a half.

I know that I have a gain this stage in my cycle every month but I had been hoping that this month would be different. Now I am looking forward to the corresponding weight loss in a couple of weeks.
I won't be at my normal group next week as will be in the Peak District for half term. I might see if there is a group up there I can fit in.

dobedobedo · 21/10/2014 21:29

How much I've lost to date:

9lbs. I didn't lose any this week though. Sad stayed the same. I know it's because I didn't track for a few days this week - I got complacent and it obviously had a negative effect! Am tracking much more carefully now.

Other changes I've made:

I buy way more veg and way less shite like pizza and cheesecake. Due to the cold weather, my slow cooker hasn't stopped with stews and soups. All with low point values.

I also trawl pinterest and Instagram for weight watchers stuff and weight loss inspiration. Cheesy quotes and mantras and things like that. It all helps! Smile

iwantgin · 22/10/2014 07:00

Oh dear. I went out to the pub quiz last night. I had set in my mind that I would have one medium glass of wine. ended up with two. Also ate a piece of steak pie with a few chips and gravy. So I have only 17 Propoints left until Sunday now.
