It took ages to track down a supermarket that actually sold them; picked it up yesterday but just tried it a little while ago.

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test?
Not really seen it before.

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No

Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
I got the Smooth Cream Cheese & multigrain toasts with Cranberry Relish (not listed as the three) as they had it in the branch of Asda I went to and seemed the most appealing out of what they had.

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
Ate it just now, in the kitchen whilst the kids are having their dinner.

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I was full up from lunch, so had it to keep me ticking over until the kids are in bed & I can have something a bit more substantial!

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
The toasts were nice as was the cream cheese. The relish on its own was yummy, but combined with everything was a bit weird. There weren't enough toasts though & a bit of relish left over at the end.

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
I don't mind as long as it tasted good, I'm rather partial to Philadephia so this was a good alternative.

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes.

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
I think it's a bit on the pricey side, I may stock up on them if they were around £1.

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
Hadn't really come across it, always just went to that aisle for my son's cheese fixes (babybel and cheese strings mainly) plus the spreadable cheese triangles I've come to like.

Here's the pack I got.

Tested by my DH today! We had not heard of this brand before and had to hunt around the supermarket to find it. He had the caramelised onion pack and enjoyed it, thought it was quite a substantial snack. He ate it at his desk at work in place of a biscuit. He would be happy to pay £1.50.

cather · 07/10/2014 20:59

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
No I hadn't heard of it before

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No

Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
I tried the Caramelised onion chutney

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
As a mid morning snack at work

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I usually eat some fruit or a yogurt so I ate the LowLow snack instead

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
It was ok for a snack but I thought the cheese was a bit too bland

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
Appealing because I am trying to lose weight

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes, it tasted ok and was a convenient size

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
I think it is a bit expensive so probably not. I would only buy it if it was on offer at around £1

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand? N/A I wasn't aware of the brand before

ovenbun · 07/10/2014 21:05
  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand? Yes, a healthy option, premium product although I didn't realise it was semi-skimmed.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
yes but I thought it was cheese slices with a dip, I didn't know there was a cracker element.
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney) Caramelised onion.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack? Out for a picnic at the beach, lunch time.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what. I would usually have a yoghurt and crisps with my sandwich, I substituted with the snack pack.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack? I loved the packaging and the taste of the cheese and the chutney, I found the french toasts a bit dry and boring, a little wholemeal biscuit or chive cracker would have been tastier. the portion was quite small.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk? now ive tasted it, very appealing!
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend? yes as something different to try.
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store? No, sorry, my alternative of yoghurt and crisps would only come to a maximum of £1.20 even if I chose the most luxurious options, so I couldn't afford to swap. I would buy if it was on offer 2 for £2, or if you did a multipack of 3 for £3.50.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand? I still think the same way about the brand.
mimolette · 07/10/2014 22:28
  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
No, had never heard of it.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No.
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
Caramelised onion chutney.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
At work, as an afternoon snack.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I probably have a snack around that time a couple of times a week. Usually popcorn. Sometimes crisps or a chocolate bar.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
It was quite fun to have the cheese/biscuit/pickle combo. The pickle was a little bit too sweet for my taste, and it was a bit messy for eating at the desk. Overall though I did enjoy the flavours. It was more filling that popcorn, but it was also relatively high in calories for a snack that suggests it is diet friendly (more than double the calories of the popcorn bags I usually get). For those calories you could have a large salad, some sushi or a soup - all much more filling options. Or you could also have a normal sized bag of crisps.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
If it still tastes as good, then yes, I find the idea very appealing.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
It would depend on what the friend was after. I wouldn't recommend it as a particularly diet friendly snack, though I guess it could be part of a diet(ish) lunch or a bigger meal (eg alongside fruit and salad).
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
I may buy it occasionally, but it's not going to become a regular thing. That is quite a high price when you compare it with other, more traditional snacks, be it crisps, popcorn, biscuits, chocolate or fruit.
Squiffie · 08/10/2014 13:58

Bought another of these since doing the product test (it was on offer for £1). Anyway, so pleased I didn't pay full price as there were only 3 crackers! Most annoying, 5 cheese slices just don't fit with 3 crackers Hmm

catsofa · 08/10/2014 14:47

I bought a proper packet of melba toast, a jar of chutney and some slices of reduced fat mature cheddar. Total cost equivalent to 2 or 3 Low Low Snack Packs, total amount of snack equivalent to 20 or more of them. Equally delicious.

marymouse · 08/10/2014 14:58

I wasn't aware of the low low brand before this product test, but when I went to the supermarket to use my voucher I did recognise the lowlow products on the shelf.

I wasn't aware of the lowlow snack pack before the product test, I hadn't seen it in shops or any advertising.

I chose the sweet tomato relish snack pack

I ate the snack pack at home in the kitchen while I was unpacking the shopping!

I wouldn't normally snack at this time, but it was there and was easy to eat so it tempted me.

I was quite satisfied with the snack pack although I would have liked more toast to cheese ratio

Cheese from semi skimmed milk is neither appealing or appealing, it is what it is!

I wouldn't recommend the snack pack to a friend as it's not something I'd normally do anyway and it wasn't that amazing that I would be talking about it all of the time.

I wouldn't buy a lowlow snack pack at £1.50 it's too expensive in my opinion.

heyday · 08/10/2014 19:50

I had never heard of this product before this trial. I did find it quite easily in the chilled cabinet near the cheese section. To add a bit of variety, I chose to eat my sweet tomato relish low low for lunch instead of a sandwich. It's an appealing product although you don't get a lot really for the £1.79 that the supermarket was selling it for. I must admit that I really enjoyed it and everything had a nice taste, not bland like a lot of low fat foods and not false like a lot of these processed snacks. It certainly didn't taste low fat as it was very flavoursome.
I would be tempted to buy it from time to time and would probably eat it for lunch with fruit and yogurt.
If it was on offer I would definitely buy it again.
Quite a catchy little brand name too. So glad I was able to try it.

mjmooseface · 09/10/2014 12:01

Uzma01 where did you get your snack from in the end? I haven't been able to track any down either!

Boglin · 09/10/2014 15:49

Thanks for my voucher:) Here is my feedback.

Don't always have something but have had a chip butty or piece of toast on previous occasions.

Very, I thought it was lovely. The toasts were crispy, the chutney was really nice and the cheese was what I expected, having had that before. I thought the quantities/ratios were spot on.

It doesn't really bother me either way.

  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

Yes, the brand had dropped off my radar to be honest but the snack pack has put it squarely back on there and I will certainly consider their other products when I am out shopping.

sianishere · 09/10/2014 15:53

I've received my voucher but I'm struggling to find anywhere in my town that sells it! I will have to wait until the weekend and try to get to a supermarket in the next town.

I wasn't aware of them before this.

MrsDermotOLeary · 09/10/2014 16:12

How utterly WIERD, you've not asked if it actually tasted good!!! Don't you care? Is it all about image and feelings, and brand? The whole concept sums up what is all wrong about food.

^^^

Totally agree with this. And no mention of packaging.

Just checking in to say I received my voucher but haven't managed to "spend" it yet. Managed to track the snack packs down in Tesco eventually but then they wouldn't accept the voucher! Customer services had a rather "computer says no" attitude and simply kept repeating that the "coupon could not be accepted" and so they couldn't use it.

Will try again...

Sorry for the delay in replying - it was a larger branch of Asda. The smaller one near me only had the packs of cheese on their own, as did a reasonably big Sainsbury's.

Lent1l · 12/10/2014 08:58

Still trying to find somewhere that stocks them so I can report back. Sainsburys stock Low Low but not the snack pots.
