Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
I hadn't heard of the brand before.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No, not at all.
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
Caramelised onion chutney
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
At 11 o'clock, in my kitchen, hiding from the children!
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I don't have regular snack times but I hadn't had any breakfast and couldn't wait until lunch.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
It filled a hole (a small one as lunch was also looming).
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
I find it appealing. We often try to reduce calories with foods/recipes involving milk.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes, although I'm not sure many of my friends are into buying convenience snacks
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
It was actually £1 in the asda store I went to. I think this is more reasonable.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

I wasn't aware of it but would maybe keep more of an eye out for other products in the range.

Rishi79 · 01/10/2014 22:14

Thanks for choosing us to test the LowLow snack pack. My children love to try different flavours and tastes and I used to search the aisle a lot for different ideas. But recently I have been too lazy (Read it as Busy) to go for a hunt. So, I heard about this opportunity, I definitely wanted to try.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
No. The trial is the first time we are tasting LowLow Snack pack.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No. I am usually on the lookout for a yogurt, Cheese Sticks and bread sticks. This is slightly different (with Chutney) to what I usually buy.
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (Available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
Red Pepper & Onion Chutney (For me :)) Caramelised Onion Chutney (For Kids) Spend a little more from Pocket as it was not too expensive to buy. No one likes Tomato at home except and I didn't want to end up eating too much, so didn't try the tomato one.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
When we were in the park after school.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
Yes, Replaced some breadsticks and cheese.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
I was not extremely happy about the taste, but I did not dislike it either. I liked the red pepper than the caramelised one.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
Didn't make a huge difference in taste to the usual cheese, So, Semi Skimmed milk seems to be a great idea.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes, I would, To try once in a while though.
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
Yes. But will definitely try to grab a few if there is a deal.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
Not really. From the name, I guessed something that has to be low in snacks and food is definitely kept Low in LowLow Snack.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

Yes I had heard of it before

  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

Caramelised onion chutney

  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

A mid morning snack at home!

  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Yes, I normally have toast and/or banana

  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

Very, but not as filling as toast and banana

  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

Yes, this doesn't really make any difference to me

  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Yes as it was quick and handy to eat

  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

Probably not for more than £1 as it's quite an expensive snack otherwise

  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

Good that there is a new snack available and it probably makes me feel more positive about the brand

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 02/10/2014 12:32
  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
Yes. I lived in Ireland for 7 years, so became aware of Kerry Foods & LowLow then.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
Yes, I'd seen them, but never tried one.
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
I bought the caramelised onion chutney snack pack. The red pepper & onion wasn't stocked in the store I visited, but I probably would've chosen that flavour anyway.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
I ate it at home in the afternoon when I was feeling hungry. I had to share it with DD2.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I would probably have eaten a couple of biscuits instead. I prefer to snack on savoury foods between meals, but I can rarely be bothered to fix up cheese & crackers, so usually have a couple of digestives instead.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
I thought it was perfect as a snack. It wouldn't do me for lunch or anything.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
Very.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes.
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
I definitely wouldn't buy it to snack on at home, but I might buy it if I'm hungry between meals, in place of a sandwich or crisps.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
Not really.
Michelle1985 · 02/10/2014 13:35

Thank-you for the voucher (!) and here is my feedback...

  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

Ate it at work, dinnertime.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
No

Really satisfied, tasted great and the ingredients were not as overpowering as I thought they would be...they were just right.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
It is appealing from a 'losing weight' point of view, however, it doesn't really matter to me.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes, but I would :)
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?

Nope, had never heard of it.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

No, and I had looked for similar things. Obviously either missed these or they were not on sale in my usual supermarket until very recently.

  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

Tomato relish was not available in my supermarket, of the other two I chose caramelised onion but it was a close call as both sounded delicious.

  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

5 mins ago, at home in front of computer having just walked back from the supermarket.

  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Yes, I need something regularly as I'm pregnant, and even when I'm not I find I'm often too hungry when I get home to cook dinner until I've had a snack. If I'd not had this I would have had crisps and a banana.

  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

Was delicious, I only wish there had been more toast. Also thought there was far too much packaging (the tray was much bigger than the contents) and the foil lid was punctured in my bag before I got it home, making it too fragile to pack for days out. Luckily the toast section punctured rather than the chutney section or it could have dripped sticky goo all over all my other shopping! Apart from this I enjoyed it a lot though. Used my own knife to scoop the chutney because I didn't find the little spork until after I'd finished

  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

The cheese tasted great so no need for full fat, reduced fat is perfect.

  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Yes, although I think most would find it too expensive for anything but an occasional treat.

  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

Probably occasionally, but it's too expensive for everyday packed lunches. I might keep some for emergency lunches. I'm sure I'll try the other flavours at some point, but I think I'd worry about the foil lid getting punctured if I had to take it far in my bag, so I won't be getting them for snacks on trains etc, which is a shame as they'd be otherwise perfect (and cheap in comparison to buffet car crisps!).

  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
MadMonkeys · 02/10/2014 19:32

Finally found it in Asda - I'll try it tomorrow.

Ratbagcatbag · 02/10/2014 20:21

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?

No, I'd never heard of it. I'd assume something lower fat though.

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

No

Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

Caramelised onion chutney when I finally found a store stocking them.

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

At work, in the afternoon.

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Yes, normally I'd be heading to the vending machine for chocolate, decided to have this instead. Although it was 187 calories, which is the same as maltesers.

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

I really enjoyed it, the chutney was awesome, quite sweet but I love that. I really enjoyed the cheese. The only issue is I feel that there wasn't enough toast in comparison to cheese and chutney. I would have wanted 6-8 pieces.

I also felt it was tons of packaging for what you actually got, I thought it would be smaller packaging.

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

I've never thought about it so don't mind to be honest.

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Yes, if it came up in conversation, but I wouldn't go out of my way to rave about it.

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

I think £1.50 is pricey, I think £1 is much more reasonable and even then it would only be occasionally.

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about it.

I wasn't aware before, it's made me wonder what else is available BUT as it doesn't seem like that low calories, I'm not sure I'd seek it out.

Hmassey · 02/10/2014 21:05

babymouse · 03/10/2014 06:13

I’ve picked up a LowLow pack before – but other than that I don’t know much about the LowLow brand. It makes me think it low calorie but tasty food. I found the Caramelized Onion Chutney, but would loved to have tried the Sweet Tomato Relish (I just couldn’t find it anywhere!)

I ate it as a mid-morning snack at work, normally I’d probably have a biscuit from the tin at work so this was a more balanced option than normal. The LowLow snack pack was a tasty treat – a nice blend of sweet and savory. As far as calorie count goes, I find the idea of cheese made from semi-skimmed milk appealing, but it isn’t something I actively think about.

I’d recommend it to a friend as a quick alternative to more calorific snacks. But it is a bit expensive for what it is – I’d be more likely to buy it as part of deal or reduced than at its recommend price. Since I’ve tried it before it hasn’t really changed the way I think about the brand, but it does make me wonder if there will be any other snack foods that they’ll be releasing!

gojiberries · 03/10/2014 09:36

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?

To be honest, I have never heard of it. The 'LowLow' makes me think of low fat, tasteless diet products.

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

I had never noticed it in the supermarket and was not aware of it.

Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

The only one available at the huge Sainsbury's store I visited was the Caramelised Onion Chutney flavour.

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

At home with a cup of tea at 4pm.

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

I'd normally have a biscuit with my tea so this was a lovely alternative.

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

It was very delicious although I was very disappointed with the amount of mini toast things you got. I got about five and they were tiny. The cheese and chutney were delicious though. I really enjoyed the flavours. I would love a more spicy chutney though.

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

I though it wouldn't taste good but was pleasantly surprised. The cheese was was extremely tasty.

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Probably but would be put off by the price. It was priced at £1.75 in Sainsbury's. I think that is overpriced for what you get.

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

As stated previously, it was £1.75 where I got it. Even at £1.50 it would be too much. I would rather buy a block of cheese and a box of crackers. A more reasonable price would be between £1.00 and £1.25. I would also make the pack slightly bigger with a few more crackers/toast.

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

I was not aware of the brand beforehand. If the product was on offer, I would definitely buy it as I am now aware that the product tastes good. Thanks for letting me take part in this product test.

titchypumpkin · 03/10/2014 12:08

Thank you for the voucher. Like pp I also found that tesco tills did not accept the voucher and they had to get a supervisor to override the till.

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?

No I hadn't come across the brand before. The name instantly suggests low fat, which isn't always a good thing as often low fat products are tasteless.

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

No I wasn't (see above).

Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

They all sounded nice but I went for the Red Pepper and Onion Chutney as I love red pepper.

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

I had it as part of a picnic (less phaff than taking crackers, chutney and cheese with me).

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Not really it was just part of a general picnic, but I can imagine having it instead of crisps as a snack.

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

Overall pretty satisfied. The chutney was really nice and sweet, and it was fun putting them together. I agree with pp that one or two more pieces of the toast. The cheese tastes ok, it was a little bland for my liking, not because it is low fat I don't think, more because it was just a bit of a mild cheese and I prefer something stronger. Eating the toast, cheese and chutney together meant that the flavour of the cheese was a bit lost. But it was a nice alternative snack, something a bit different for variety.

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

I have no problem with it as an idea as long as the taste is right (see previous answer).

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

If it came up in conversation I might, but I won't be bringing the topic up.

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

I think it's a little overpriced, they were on offer in tesco at two for £2 and I think £1 is a more appropriate price, otherwise it comes in at twice the price of an alternative snack (crisps, chocolate bar, fruit etc) which is a bit pricey for me.

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

I wasn't aware of the brand, and have to say the name didn't immediately suggest "tasty" to me but I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the trial :-)

  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?

I think I was vaguely aware, as in sure I had seen it, but tbh nothing sprang to mind.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

No I wasn't.

  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

I bought the Caramalised Onion Chutney.

  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

Just now (lunch) on the bus.

  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Yes it was. Largely depends on what I'm up to, but would be anything from poached eggs or soup, to leftovers shoved in the microwave.

  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

I liked it which surprised me. I'm not generally one for convenience food, even less low fat stuff, but was pleasantly surprised.

  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

If it tastes nice I don't care a jot how it's made.

  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

If asked, then yes I would.

  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

Not at that price I'm afraid. It wasn't in my two local usual supermarkets (Waitrose and Sainsbury's), and I had to travel to the nearest Asda to get it today as I was going nearby. Wouldn't make a trip for that only.

  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

N/A as wasn't fully aware of brand.

I actually really liked it, the chutney was really tasty as we're the little toasts. Cheese could've been stronger perhaps, but I did load up the chutney as it was so good.

On the downside, I feel it is too expensive. I think £1/pack or a multi pack of, say, 4 for £3 would be more appropriate. Either that or maybe 6-8 toasts and cheese slices rather than just 4 of each.

If I'm somewhere that sells them, and it's lunch/snack sort of time then I would probably buy again if they were cheaper.

Thank you, though, all in a positive response from me.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 03/10/2014 14:03

Thank you for the voucher. I went in to Waitrose again today. Still no luck, so I think I may have to go to Asda on Monday and see if they have it.

intherightgarden · 03/10/2014 15:44

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

No, I had never heard of them so was pleased to try something new.

LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

Caramelised Onion Chutney. That was all that was left in Morrisons as they seemed to be very popular because they were on offer at £1. I couldn't find them in Sainsbury's, Asda or Co-op.

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

At home. It's 3pm and I missed lunch and am going out for dinner so needed a quick bite to eat and was really hungry!

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Chocolate bar

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

It was absolutely delicious but not enough of it!

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

That's supposed to encourage dieters to try it isn't it? Less fat so yes, appealing to me.

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Yes.

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

Only as a very special treat. It seems a bit pricey for what it is.

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

I had never heard of the LowLow brand until this mumsnet test. However, now I would look out for their products again with a view to trying something else.

SweetPeaPods · 03/10/2014 15:58

I'll add feedback when I can find them! Just been to morrisons and shelf was empty. They were on special offer so not sure if that's why?

I've just received my voucher today! Where can you get the LowLow snacks from, just big supermarkets? Or will the Sainsburys Local or Tesco Metro etc stock them?

Kirsty770 · 03/10/2014 18:15

I knew of the Low Low brand but not the snack packs.

I bought the caramelised onion chutney. The only other option in the shop was tomato relish.

I had it as an evening snack, my partner has cheese and crackers most evenings as a snack. I would normally have a yoghurt, chocolate and crisps.

It was good, thought it could have had more crackers or bigger breads. It was quite nice and the cheese was really tasty as was the chutney.

I like the idea of semi-skimmed milk making cheese, I normally have skimmed milk anyhow. The cheese was very tasty though.

I might do, my partner was impressed with the calorie content for a cheese and cracker snack.

In the shop I bought it from, would have been £1.75, think £1.25 would be my maximum spend on this.

I liked the snack pack and would try the cheese on its own following this trial. It hasn't changed my opinion but now know the cheese is nice.

Thanks very much for letting me trial this product.

No, not aware
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No

Red Pepper & Onion Chutney
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
At work at lunchtime (I was in a hurry that day)
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
Yes, usually soup or a sandwich
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
Satisfied, it was nice. It wasn't quite big enough for me, although I was eating it for lunch rather than a snack. I would have preferred a few more crisp breads and less chutney. The chutney had a strong red pepper flavour which verged on the too-strong side.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
Appealing - I drink semi-skimmed milk to avoid having too much fat in my diet so fine to have cheese made with semi-skimmed.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
I think £1.50 is too much, probably £1 is the most I would want to pay as I could put together a similar snack for a lot less money. However, I realise that I would be paying a premium for the convenience.

Yes, I had seen it but was put off by the price.

  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

At home as a quick lunch.

  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

I ate instead of my usual sandwich at lunchtime

  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?

It tasted lovely & filled me up as much as a sandwich

  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

I find it appealing, I had never really considered what type of milk cheese is made from so is really has no affect on how appealing it would be to me.

  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Yes

  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

Yes as a treat, it was actually £1.75 in sainsburys which I think is priced too high

  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

Yes - because I have tried it for free I would be more likely to buy it as I know I like it. I don't think at the price I would have taken the risk of buying not knowing if I'd like it
