No preference, tasted great.. but less calories! Fantastic!

- Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Received my voucher last Friday and was ready to give it a go the weekend as were all going out for the day.
(However I forgot to put the voucher in my bag so bought it - but better still I can get another next week now with my voucher)

Yes to questions 1 and 2 - I had heard of the lowlow before and seen it in store but never bought it before, don't know why??
I had the Caramelised Onion and loved it.

I took it out with me as we were all out on Sunday - so I had that instead of my normal sandwich.

Really enjoyed it!! and would have to buy more next time as my two teens and my husband were not happy that they got the "Boring sandwiches".

Would definitely buy again as I am always watching my calorie intake and this was a nice change from a sandwich on a day out - Another plus, and was a great addition you dont need a sandwich box if we all had those on our next day out.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand? Not heard of the brand prior to this product test.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before the product test? No.
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney) Caremelised onion chutney, blooming love the stuff.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack? In the car, after leaving DD2's makaton class and before collecting DD1 from nursery. I'd not had time for breakfast.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what Not in place of another snack, I'd normally just hang on until lunch after the nursery run.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack? It was ok, tasty but not particularly filling. Five crackers/slices of cheese translated into 5 mouthfuls as I've got a big mouth.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk? The idea wasn't all that appealing but the reality was ok. I prefer a cheese with a bit more of a kick but as far as low fat cheese go it was better than any I've tried previously. It definitely needed the chutney though, which was lovely!
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend? Yes if it came up in conversation, wouldn't rave about it though.
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store? Probably not, they're currently 2 for £2 in Tesco though so might get them whilst on offer.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand? Not previously aware.

As an aside, Tesco didn't want to accept the voucher, there till wouldn't recognise it. I was advised to go to the customer service desk but still had trouble. It took 5 minutes of the staff member trying different things before reluctantly overriding the system.

MakeTeaNotWar · 30/09/2014 17:30

Went to my local Sainsbos today (small) but they didn't have then to a larger co-op and they hadn't heard of it. So am a bit stuck!

I'm also struggling to find them!

  1. Was not aware/heard of LowLow brand before.
  1. Have never heard of the LowLow brand before, so have never heard about the snack pack. However, it was quite difficult to find in the Tesco Metro as it was tucked away at the top of the shelve, in the corner. Looked quite lonely as it was the only LowLow pack there, it was overwhelmed by Dairylea!
  1. Bought the caramelised onion chutney, as Tesco only had that one in stock.
  1. Ate it at home. Found that there wasn't enough biscuits for the cheese/sauce. Had to fetch a couple more from the cupboard!
  1. Had it instead of hummus and breadsticks.
  1. It's great cheese can be made from semi-skimmed milk, as it's much milder that standard cheddar.
  1. I would recommend to a friend as it's handy to take out on a picnic/day out.
  1. £1.50 is slightly more expensive that I would pay. Maybe there could be a multipack in the future?

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?

I'm afraid not.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)

Caramelised onion chutney.

  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?

At work mid morning.

  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what

Instead of a packet of crisps

  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
I enjoyed it although it wasn't as easy to eat at a desk as a packet of crisps. I didn't find the plastic fork till the end as it was under the cheese. Nice cheese, relish quite sweet, perhaps a little too sweet.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?

I hadn't given it much thought but it was still tasty so I'm open to eat more lower fat cheese.

  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?

Perhaps, at 1.49 they are pricey but on offer at 1 it was a nice treat.

  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price 1.50 if it was available in your usual store?

No, I'm afraid not, I'd make myself a similar snack from products bought in larger packs at home.

  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?

N/A

Thank you for the voucher!

Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
I have seen LowLow cheese before and just thought it was a low fat cheese product

Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No I hadn't seen these before I tried this one

Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
I chose to try caramelised onion chutney. I bought mine at Tesco's and they only had two varieties, the caramelised onion and red pepper and onion.

When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
I ate it at work for my lunch along with a yogurt. It made a lovely change from sandwiches.

Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
Usually I have a sandwich for lunch although occasionally for a change I will take one of my childrens dairylea dunkers

How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
I enjoyed it. Everything was contained in one pack and the chutney was a tasty change from just plain cheese

How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
I suppose in terms of low fat then using semi skimmed milk is good, however for me the taste it also important, I dont see any point in having low fat food if it lacks flavour and taste

Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Yes I would, its a quick snack that is more satisfying than biscuits and easy to carry with you. I imagine it is good to take on the school run to eat when waiting for the children

Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
I think £1.50 is a little expensive for a pack. However if they were on offer at £1.00 then yes I would buy them. I feel that the LowLow snack pack is useful to keep in the fridge

If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
Yes, as usually low fat cheese product are awful, but this was better than I expected

caramelised onion chutney.

just now. sans children. after a difficult day. at the computer. while mning.

I was on the prowl for a snack so yes in place of something else. given the run of meltdowns from ds and anotherhumdinger today it would have been crackers. I looked at the fruit inthe fridge and cba. fruit will (i hope) come after the comfort food.

looking at the pack it looks very small. the biscuits and cheese pieces look even smaller when you open it. (3.5 cm across... and yes I measured. ) however, this is quite deceptive. I thought it would be less munch value than a pack of crisps but turns out it is better.. possibly due to the variety of tastes and the individual pieces of cheese are quite chunky. I was impressed. there wasmore to it than met the eye.

I did however only find theminifork thingy when there was only one piece of cheese left. I dipped the toast and cheese separately and together.

the cheese was lovely. not too mature. (which may or may not be a good thing depending on taste) the toast was crispy and tasty plain. the onion chutney is lovely, though very sweet and possibly packed with sugar. need to check the ingredients at some point.

i like the thought of cheese made from semiskimmed milk. it is far superior to the other low fat cheeses I have had the misfortune to try at my mothers.

not sure I would buy at the full price as we are on a strict budget. they had them on offer in tesco twofor... I would not have bought at all by the look and size of the pack. after tasting, I may buy again if there is an offer on. I would probably buy a jar of you chutney. I would think about buying the cheese if it came as a block.

I think there are advantages to snack packs... ie portion control.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/09/2014 23:11

additional info:

I like the shape of the packaging. it is pleasing to the eye and comfortable to hold. Like the shape of a jar with lid, plus the slope from front to back is pronounced enough not to be annoyingingly wonky. I think it is clever how it leans back on the shelf. nothing worse than having a load of packages toppling on you whilst shopping if you happen to breathe too heavily as you pass. Grin stress enough shopping with a child with autism.

the ingredient list was ripped as it crosses a void in the bottom of the packaging. this is serious of allergies need to be considered.

glad that the packaging is recyclable.

Finally managed to track these down today in Asda in next town.

No, I was not previously aware of the brand or the product, probably as it's not stocked locally where I shop.

I chose the Caramelised Onion one which I ate at home at 12pm as soon as I got in from doing errands this morning. Would otherwise have grabbed some Mini Cheddars or similar. Was not really a lunch substitute.

The plastic tray could have been smaller - it looked half empty which was then a disappointment at the amount of contents. Didn't spot the fork at first as is black on black. Also, cannot recycle black plastic here so bit grumbly about that too.

The cheese was fine - I expected it to be more plastic than it was so pleasantly surprised. Semi-skimmed is not a problem if the end product tastes ok, in fact makes it more appealing to have ok taste plus lower fat.

Chutney was slightly too sweet but the right amount - definitely didn't need more of it.

There were only 4 bits of toast plus a scrag end of crust (approx 1cm area) but 5 slices of cheese. Felt there could have been a couple more bits of toast - there was plenty of space for them in the pack!

I probably wouldn't buy it at £1.50, possibly might at £1. I can get something similar (pot of toasts & chutney) from Graze for £1 and would then buy the cheese separately. I might buy the large pack of LowLow cheese slices having now located them assuming they are the same cheese as in this snack pack.

  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
Yes, I would probably have either some fruit or cheese & crackers at that time
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
It was quite tasty, although the chutney was incredibly sweet. Also there were more crackers than cheese. Not blown away by it.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
I don't mind. I do like full fat cheese as a treat but am happy to eat low/lower fat cheese otherwise.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Maybe as a quick, savoury snack but not as a meal
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
Probably not, price is a little too high when you can buy the items separately

  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
I'd never heard of them.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?
No
  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
I tried the sweet tomato relish.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
I had it in my car for lunch whilst the toddler slept. Classy.
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I'd usually have had a sandwich, but not usually in the car. It just meant I didn't have to wait 'til I got home...
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
It was nice, but it wasn't substantial enough for a full meal.
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
Appealing. Not too fattening, but tasty.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
Not for the price! If they were heavily discounted then yes as a tasty snack.
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
No, way too expensive for what they were. Much more thn I pay for a regular full lunch and not nearly as filling.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
I hadn't heard of them before. I will look out for them in the future though.

  • Were you aware of the LowLow brand before this product test? If so, what comes to mind when you think about the LowLow brand?
I've had low low cheese before, it's quite a strong looking brand.
  • Were you aware of the LowLow Snack Pack before this product test?

I had seen them in the supermarket.

  • Which LowLow Snack Pack did you buy? (available in 3 flavours: Red Pepper & Onion Chutney, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramelised Onion Chutney)
Sweet tomato relish.
  • When and where did you eat the LowLow Snack Pack?
I had it at my desk at work, there wasn't enough to share with my colleagues though so they weren't very happy!!
  • Was this in place of another snack you would normally eat at that time? If so, please tell us what
I work in an office and we tend to graze all day, there is always won't of eating. Terrible, I know.
  • How satisfied were you with the LowLow Snack Pack?
It was nice, but it wasn't big enough to replace a meal but was quite big for a snack. I'm conflicted, was it too big or too small??
  • How appealing or unappealing do you find the idea of cheese made from semi skimmed milk?
Appealing, as long as it still tastes good. I wouldn't eat low fat stuff if it meant I lost out on flavour but low low has the balance just right.
  • Would you recommend the LowLow Snack Pack to a friend?
I would say that they were very tasty and worth a go, but they are quite pricey for the amount you get in the pack.
  • Would you buy the LowLow Snack Pack at the price £1.50 if it was available in your usual store?
Maybe as a treat, not more than once a week. I'd maybe stock pile some if they were on BOBOF or 3 for 2.
  • If you were previously aware of the LowLow brand, has the LowLow Snack Pack changed the way you think about the brand?
I think it's a good strong brand,it's easy to recognise items in the range as the packaging is eye catching. I did enjoy the cheese.

Thanks for the opportunity to try it out for free Smile

I was not aware of this brand or the snack pack before now. I bought sweet tomato relish flavour with my voucher.
I ate it after getting home from work, so about 6pm as I was peckish. I might normally grab a packet of crisps then before dinner if I was hungry.
I was pretty satisfied with the pack, it was a good sized snack for me and I liked all of it.
I'm neither here nor there about the cheese being made with skimmed milk. Eating fat in moderation is fine in my books. I may recommend it to as friend if I was eating it in front of them, otherwise its not something I would naturally talk about!
I wouldn't buy it for £1.50, but I would consider buying it again for £1

Received the voucher and went to a large Tesco. Couldn't find product and shop assistant on cheese aisle hadn't heard of it. Will try again at the weekend.
