We've been asked by the team at Freesat to find 15 UK Mumsnetters to try out a Freesat+ box with and to share their feedback on Mumsnet.

We're looking for folks who are keen to switch from their current TV provider or who want to add this box to another TV in their home. Testers should be in the UK and have at least one child at home.

Here's what they have to say: "Hello. We're freesat. We believe you shouldn't have to pay a monthly subscription to watch and listen to 180 channels of the best comedy, drama, sport, lifestyle, music and news. We offer free HD services from ITV, the BBC and Channel 4; freesat+ to record pause and rewind, BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand; and all subscription free."

Freesat launched last Autumn which includes a Roll Back TV Guide that allows you to watch programmes you've missed from the previous seven days across 21 channels, a new showcase section providing top TV picks chosen daily by Freesat's reviewers, on-demand services and enhanced recordings.

Freesat is a subscription free service and Freesat+ boxes are available to buy from a range of retailers - RRP from £226.

If you're selected to take part you will be sent a Humax 500GB Freesat+ with box worth £226.You will then need to try it and add feedback at least twice to a thread on Mumsnet. You'll be asked to add your first impressions and then to add extra feedback a week or two later to share what you've been watching, recording, pausing and how you and your family are finding Freesat.

There are some technical requirements for this product test:

  • You will need a satellite dish to install Freesat. If you already have a satellite dish you'll be asked to install the Freesat box at home. If you do not, a satellite dish will be fitted for you, but you must ensure that you have access and permission (if required)
  • You will also need access to the internet to access . The minimum speed required is 2mbps, you can test your speed here

If you'd like to take part please add your details here

So long as you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the box after testing is over.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

DPD reckon they'll be with me between 13.55 and 14.55. We shall see, but a text message is an improvement on the service so far...

Littlemissexpecting · 17/09/2013 12:34

At least you have a text message! Still nothing here, and ds is now very grumpy at being stuck at home

WeileWeileWaile · 17/09/2013 13:17

Have just had the satellite installed and discovered my box doesn't work Sad

Not sure what to do now...

Littlemissexpecting · 17/09/2013 13:25

I'm not a happy bunny.
Just called tsg who gave me the number for my engineers company.
I'm now waiting for the engineer to phone me. I'm not very impressed tbh.
i did speak to a lovely lady from freesat who said that the delivery company have tried to deliver the box numerous times but I have not been in or refused it. It's is not true so they are going to try redelivery tomorrow. Great 2 days in a row I need to wait in.
She said that they are having issues with 2 people's boxes not being sent out. So now I have an engineer coming this afternoon but no box to install!

Littlemissexpecting · 17/09/2013 13:27

A broken box, nightmare! Possibly call freesat support? I just googled freesat installation.
I'm not very impressed, It better be worth it!

GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 13:40

Littlemiss DPD tried telling Angelie MNHQ they'd tried delivery numerous times too. Lies. I've been unwell so here all week.

No card either.

Littlemissexpecting · 17/09/2013 13:53

Exactly the same. Ds has been poorly so we've been home. No card, nothing!

GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 13:53

Bloody poor. Hope MNHQ/Freesat give DPD a serve!

WeileWeileWaile · 17/09/2013 14:01

Ok - spoke to Freesat who said speak to Humax, as they're the manufacturers.

Phoned Humax, who said speak to Freesat as they supplied the box.

Confused
GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 14:02

Get onto Angelie

Littlemissexpecting · 17/09/2013 14:31

Oh dear this isn't looking good. I'd be pretty p'd off if I spent all that money on a box then it didn't work!
Good job I'm on mat leave, I'd be furious f I had taken a days holiday...

WeileWeileWaile · 17/09/2013 14:31

Just had an email from Angelie to say it's going to be sorted Smile
And that the Freesat people saw my post & phoned her to see what was happening

GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 14:39

DPD have 15 mins and counting til they're late...

WeileWeileWaile · 17/09/2013 15:02

Box is being collected and replaced tomorrow - impressed with customer services so far

GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 15:03

Ok no box. Nice one DPD. AGAIN.

WeileWeileWaile · 17/09/2013 15:06

Oh no Gobby. I know it's a nuisance, but do they have a depot that you can collect from rather than waiting in for them?

GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 15:09

I don't know.
A whole week, they've not bothered coming to my house once.

I've had to complain about them before, same thing. Kept saying they'd attempted to deliver or I'd refused delivery.

Really annoyed.

pigsinmud · 17/09/2013 15:11

Don't like to be sceptical, but perhaps it's all happening quickly for you because you're putting feedback on a public forum! I am rapidly being put off Freesat already - simply because 1/15 boxes wasn't working! I know that would be me if I bought one. I always end up with the broken/missing a vital cable stuff!

Littlemissexpecting · 17/09/2013 15:22

I'm now even more annoyed. Engineers arrived at 2.30 and now gone. They moaned about there being no box (not my fault). They have now gone and I had a look at the hole they drilled and they have damaged my paintwork by moving my tv unit. Lovely looking black mark and paint has come off! He must have known he damaged the wall and didn't say anything! I was too busy feeding and trying to settle ds

GobbySadcase · 17/09/2013 15:24

Turns out instead of delivering to my actual address (xx xxxxxxxxx court, xxx street) they're trying to deliver to xx xxx street.

Which is in a completely different place.

Muppets.

AngelieMumsnet · 17/09/2013 17:31

Hi everyone, very sorry about the issues that a few people have been having. Rest assured, we've been working very closely with our contact at Freesat to fix these problems so that you can start testing your boxes as soon as possible.
Do continue posting in the thread, but if anyone has any other issues, please contact me either via PM or email and I'll do what I can to help.

Had to email MN too yesterday, engineer firm phoned last week and arranged for Monday promising me a call first thing Monday to confirm a time. No call despite taking morning off and then engine arrived unannounced at 3 when i was back at work. Left message for the engineer on his mobile so hopefully he will call to rearrange.

GobbySadcase · 18/09/2013 10:51

Out for delivery again. Hope I get it this time.

Littlemissexpecting · 18/09/2013 12:24

I'm waiting on delivery too. Really need to go out after waiting in yesterday, and its DHs only day off in 3 weeks so he's not happy. It better appear.
On the plus side an amazon delivery has arrived that was meant to come tomorrowSmile

GobbySadcase · 18/09/2013 13:42

It's heeeeere!

Tracking history is hilarious to read.
