Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It was neat, compact and easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No I was satisfied (did do a double take at the french packaging but the MN email sorted that).

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

It smelt nice, not overpowering or strong but pleasant. I normally use unscented washing powder so it was noticeably pleasant (especially as clothes tumbled dried).

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

It is something I would probably recommend to my MIL or Grandmother who live alone as it would be easier for them to carry home from the shops and to manouver in the kitchen.

MinnieMooo · 10/12/2012 17:58

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I thought it was really great - good design and very good product. My daughter and I both have dry skin and are prone to exzema patches particularly when switching washing liquid brands but so far so good.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Larger bottle would be great.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance was fine and the cleaning power was excellent.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it for sure as it is easy to use, environmentally sound and hasn't affected our skin conditions. It is a bit more expensive than other brands but I would still buy it.

monkeypuzzeltree · 10/12/2012 18:05

Q1. Like the packaging, neat and shouldn't drip like my usual liquid
Q2. Have done a few loads, working well - even on nursery gear which is the toughest!
Q3. Really like fragrance, not too strong, really fresh.
Q4. Definitely it looks so different to others on the shelf, not sure I would have tried without a free tester - glad I did!

MissChristmastRee · 10/12/2012 18:22

I liked the idea of the small squirts bottle - I don't need to find room for a great big box of powder!

Have done a few loads and it seems to clean well. Haven't done any particularly dirty loads though.

I'm not too ken on the fragrance - neat it smells like alcohol and on the clean clothes it isn't really noticeable. My powder leaves the clothes smelling fresher for longer.

Probably wouldn't recommend - its quite expensive and to be honest I prefer my powder.

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 10/12/2012 18:44

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Overall quite good, I like the pump design.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Improve the pump...it tends to off in a sidewards fashion, and when nearly empty it's quite hard to get any out so you have to keep pumping it

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was really nice, but the cleaning power wasn't so great on the white washes. Colours came out ok though.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I probably would recommend it, it's in my Tesco at £3 at the moment which is quite reasonable.

mrsvilliers · 10/12/2012 18:45

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Overall I had a very positive impression of the Method Laundry Liquid. The pump was really easy to use and I liked the fact it was so compact, so no massive boxes of washing powder or worrying about the possible toxicity of liquitabs.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I think the 25 wash description is slightly misleading, I have a 7kg drum in a hard water area and 7 washes to date have used around half the bottle. But it's a small point, I know I use more than the average!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was very subtle and pleasant. I have a husband who cycles 20 miles a day and a toddler who refuses to wear bibs and I recently upgraded my washing powder to liquitabs as the powder wasn't cleaning effectively. The Method Laundry Liquid cleaned as well as the liquitabs i.e. it got out fresh stains and old stains with the help of a stain remover but not old stains and the cycling clothes actually smelt fresher.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would recommend to a friend, for the cleaning power reasons above and also cost. In my opinion it cleaned as well as my normal liquitabs and using the refill pack would reduce the cost by around 50%. I was very pleased!

Silverlace · 10/12/2012 19:14

Q 1 I liked the small bottle although all the instructions were in French so a bit confusing. It takes up much less space than powder.

Q 2 I would make a slightly stronger fragrance (a natural smell) as it doesn't really smell of anything.

Q 3 It doesn't really have a smell. I have found the cleaning very good although I haven't used it on any really dirty clothes yet.

Q 4 I would recommend it as it seems to work well and it great that it is kind to the environment. Also the price is reasonable.

HazeltheMcWitch · 10/12/2012 19:19

A few washes in now, so back with my first feedback! If it's relevant, I have very very hard water, and the family is prone to reactive skin. I don't use fabric softener.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like it! I like that it's tiny but still claims 25 washes. I like that it does not look like it'll tip over in the cupboard. I like the design - fresh and modern.
I LOVE the pump rather a lot - love that I can just squirt it straight into the wash - not the drawer and no ball/dispenser thing needed. Love that it does not drip. Love that I can easily control how much liquid I use. I don't mind a bit that I can't re-lock the pump as others have mentioned above.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Of course I'd say I want it cheaper! I have not yet got to the bottom of the bottle, but I hope that I'll be able to pump out the last bit of liquid and still know that I have got the right dose - others have mentioned that this gets a bit tricky.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I'm really liking the smell: it's nice and fresh, but not heavy or cloying. I usually use Persil, and the Persil fragrance is a lot longer-lasting, but it smells of washing detergent, rather than of 'clean'. My Method stuff does still smell clean and fresh 5 days after the wash (it may yet last longer, just it's days since my first wash...), but it doesn't have that detergent smell! I think that its fragrance will work better for me, as I Like to wear perfume, and would prefer that the 2 scents don't mix. This may however be me over-thinking things!
Cleaning power seems good. I've washed 'general' washes, and ones with tomatoey, gravy and chocolate stains so far, as well as very muddy clothes. All washed well, no extra detergent needed. I've not yet had the need to wash awful stains like nappy or curry.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. Actually I have waffled on unprompted to a work colleague. I really like it! I'd say that it's a convenient, 'greener' alternative to the big brands, that works, and just smells of clean.
I'll buy it in future, but will probably watch out for when the refill pack is on offer and stock up. I do this currently with detergent anyway.

HouseOfTinsel · 10/12/2012 19:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
The bottle is cute, nice not to have extra tablet packaging etc. Great that you only need such a small amount and can squirt it straight into the drum / drawer.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price and the smell (see below).

It is nearly twice the price of Persil Small and Mighty, which is what I normally use (only buy when it's on offer, £8 for 54 washes).

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I seem to be in a minority in finding the smell quite overpowering and bordering on unpleasant (it actually reminds me of Formil washing powder that you used to get in Aldi/Lidl). DH not keen either. By the third load my nose had desensitised a bit to it though. I was disappointed not to like the smell, as I use Method bathroom products, and the (almond) wood and (lavender) surface cleaner, and love the smells.

Cleaning power seemed fine, I didn't test stain removal though.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I'd only rave about it if I loved the smell I think! That's what sells me on the other Method products, and I'm prepared to pay a bit more for the nice smell and the fact that there are no harsh ingredients. This isn't appealing enough for me to pay the extra for this, sadly. But thanks for the opportunity to try it Smile

HouseOfTinsel · 10/12/2012 19:28

ooh forgot to say I don't use fabric conditioner.

indiecat · 10/12/2012 19:38

Hi. Been trying this for a week now. Overall I'm impressed as its coped with all my various washes - whites, coloured, muddy football kit. My only gripe is the pump itself can be a bit sticky sometimes and I've added too much. And if I don't get the angle right it splashes back/out of the drawer. But generally it works for me! :-)

blueberryboybait · 10/12/2012 19:50

My new bottle arrived today and it is the pink scented one. Will see if the fragrance has any effect one DD2's eczema as the blue one didn't effect her.

DaisyFay · 10/12/2012 19:51

Like the size - really handy compared with a big box of powder, also like the eco side of it. Pump is good too - the whole process is just easier as the bottle is small enough to sit on the little shelf with the handwash. Clothes are coming out clean and smell really nice. I would recommend it, if it came up - would I buy it? Depends on how much it costs - it would haveto be competitive against the big and inconvenient box of powder which doesn't make me feel as nice!!

indiecat · 10/12/2012 19:53

Opps forgot to answer the 4 questions!! Here goes;
Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the small bottle and overall less messy to use than washing powder.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A window or so e way of seeing how much has been used / is left

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Personally I'm not that keen on the smell. I'd like something that smelt "fresh" and clean rather than a perfume.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I' would only suggest if I felt it would work well enough. Although many people I know want to use non bio / Eco friendly products.

orangina · 10/12/2012 20:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It is small! Also very neat.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'm still slightly undecided about the fragrance, but I note that it comes in other frangrances and also an unfragranced option.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Frangrance.... the children like it! I think it is quite strong, but I might just need to get used to it...... Cleaning power is great. I was not expecting it to be, as it is just a few squirts of a clear liquid.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
If it came up in conversation, I would recommend it. To be honest, I'm not sure I have EVER talked about cleaning products though..... Smile

I will probably buy it again. It is reasonably priced, given that you can get such a lot out of a small container.

TheSkiingGardener · 10/12/2012 20:26

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked it as a concept, much less waste, much less packaging and convenient to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
More smell and more effective

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance didn't really last on the clean clothes. This may be because I am used to my old tablets, but I do like a fresh smell rather than nothing. The cleaning power was ok, but definitely not as good as my old tablets. Tea towels came out distinctly grubby.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would say it was worth a try, as I do really like the concept, but wouldn't rave about it.

greensnail · 10/12/2012 20:26

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice neat little bottle, doesn't take up too much space in the cupboard

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price, would be good if it was a bit cheaper! Also the squirty dispensor doesn't always work perfectly so sometimes only gives half a squirt so end up having to put extra in.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The first load i did smelt really good when I opened the washing machine but I've not really noticed much smell from subsequent loads, not sure if this is just because I've had a bad cold though.
Cleaning power I haven't been hugely impressed with. It didn't manage to get the mud out of dd1's trousers (although they were pale pink and very muddy so quite a challenge) and a tea towel I'd used to mop up a spilt drink didn't come out completely clean. Has coped ok with everything else.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Would recommend it as it works ok and doesn't take up too much space

deekerr · 10/12/2012 20:38
Hmm

I really wanted to put this to the test!! And believe me it really has been tested in this household! After using the method laundry liquid for well over a week I?m finally ready to leave my feedback!!!!

I normally do at least 2 loads a day, but I?ve been doing extra loads, spare bedding, curtains, etc. in preparation for visitors over the festive period!!!Xmas Smile

I have 2 little ones and I?m always weary of changing my laundry detergent, so this has been a great opportunity to try another brand without wasting money!

GrinReally pleased with the results! Not only do my loads of washing look clean and fresh they actually feel clean and fresh.
The pump is a great selling point (why don?t the other brands do this??? Or maybe they do??), no waste or having to hold the dosing cup over the dispenser to get the last drips out!!

At first I thought the liquid smelt chemically but don?t be put off by the smell, I tried the liquid on its own and when the clothes came out of the washer I was pleasantly surprised! ?Air pure? and they were. I also used it in combination with my regular softener, and they came out smelling more intense! Not sure why but they did!

Pre-treating is a doddle and you only need a pea sized amount but it does actually remove a myriad of stains.

Saying that, pre-treating stains and adding an extra squirt to heavily soiled loads the bottle only managed to do 22 washes!(which happens with all washing liquids and powders anyway!!!)

I will definitely recommend this product and have already been looking into buying the refill packs!!!

Would be completely converted if it was more economical, I?m all for doing my bit to help save the environment but I also need to save some extra pennies too!

Many thanks for this opportunity and I hope someone finds my results helpful.
Thanks

Kittycatcat · 10/12/2012 20:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Compact for storage. 25 washes...really?

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price and stockists. It's quite expensive compared to what i use. And my local co-op and waitrose dont stock it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Couldn't really smell it in the bottle but the house smelt lovely while it was drying (dont have a tumble drier). Didnt really see a difference between this and my usual brand. I have to use about 6 pumps on a big load because we have hard water, and after three to four washes am a good way into the bottle so cant see my getting 25 washes out of it.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. It smells nice and it's compact, and works aswell as anything else.

48Hours · 10/12/2012 20:59

I found it hard to believe that the bottle would contain 25 worth of washes but it does. I have a tendency to over use detergent so have been strict and followed the instructions.
I really liked the fragrance - it smells nice, well clean really!
The cleaning power was ok, we don't really have massively dirty clothes anymore but I did wash the dogs' bedding with it and virtually all of the mud came out.
For someone who is environmentally concerned then I would definately recommend it. At the current rrp it would just not fit into my budget to buy this which is a shame because I do like the product.
This test came at just the right time for me on the day I got the pump I also had a new washing machine delivered so have enjoyed the testing

Snowballed · 10/12/2012 21:12

Had this for about a week now and have run several washes.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the pump dispenser - much better than then mess I get everywhere usually with liquid or gel! On low temp washes I couldn't fault it. I even reduced to 2 pumps on a blacks 30 wash and it was fine. The only issue is that even at 60 on a whites wash, the dreaded school socks & polos were still not that white, in fact I would say on this wash, performance was not as good as a biological wash. I used ACE laundry bleach too, but the school stuff (which suffers a LOT of wear and tear and dirt) were just not completely free of stains.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Cleaning capability on tougher stains

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance was OK. I though it was fairly neutral which I dont mind at all. Cleaning power on really bad mud type stains could be better.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

yes, certainly at lower temperatures I would

ViperInTheManger · 10/12/2012 21:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Compact for storage but a bit difficult to aim. I have overshot the dispenser more than once!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price as it is more expensive than my usual product. I haven't seen it in our local shops anyway.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Couldn't really smell it in the bottle and it was very subtle on the washing. I used it with a fabric conditioner to get stronger, more lasting fragrance. I used 4 pumps on a load because we have soft water but have had some items come out with greasy marks still on. Will pre-treat and wash again in next few days and report back.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Probably not. It smells ok and it's compact, but it's expensive and I'm not sure it works as well as my normal chemical, synthetic, biological.

Thank you for letting me try it though.

gemma4d · 10/12/2012 21:14

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Small, so more convenient, and seems to work well on stains.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I use powder because its meant to be better for the machine - I wouldn't use liquid full time because of that. Also I currently use Ariel Actilift which is supposed to reduce stains in the next wear as well as get clothes clean. I don't know if it works or not but I get it in case it does!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

It didn't smell which is perfect for me, I hate strong perfume smells. I used it on a white wash including 2 very dirty, dried-in-food, kids tops - one I pre-treated with the Method and one I didn't. Both came out clean which was VERY impressive - I'm not sure the Ariel Actilift would have managed this, but they are spotless again.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I might, especially if they use liquid already. I would tell them it works and, being smaller, is easier to carry home, easier to store and easier to use. I'm not sure about the price though - is it £6 for 25 washes? I spend about £10 a box for around 40 washes so this would be similarly priced. I certainly wouldn't pay more than that.

halcyondays · 10/12/2012 21:32
  1. Pleasant looking bottle, smelt lovely, not too overpowering. Quite a small bottle for 25 washes.
  2. Only the price! I'd find it quite expensive unless it was on offer. I'm using some other Method products, such as the lavender spray cleaner, which I will definitely buy again as it's lasted for ages, so has proved to be good value. However the laundry liquid does seem a bit pricy compared to similar products.
I'd have to see how long the bottle would last before deciding if it was good value.
  1. Fragrance was very pleasant, not too overpowering. I don't like laundry products that have a very strong smell. Cleaned fine, I washed towels and tea towels as well as our clothes. I didn't have anything that was noticeably stained so can't comment on how it would deal with stained clothing.
  2. Yes, but only if they didn't mind the price. It cleaned well, has a lovely scent, seems to be kind to skin and the environment. I would particularly recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin. Thank you for letting me try it.
halcyondays · 10/12/2012 21:46

Just to add, it does seem that it would work out better value if you bought a refill pack, seems to be about £14 for 85 washes, so that would make it a bit more reasonable. And I suppose it would still take up less space than a big box of powder.
