I have always looked longingly at all the Method products in the supermarket...they just look so much more stylish but sadly having to budget price wins over style normally. So it was lovely to actually get the opportunity to trial a Method product (thank you!).
I am a bit of a laundry product whore - I go with what's on offer and is not too heavy (no car here and often run out of laundry products twixt online orders). I have always liked the look of the very compact and light-weight (in comparison) Method Laundry Liquid purely on the grounds that I could add it to a top-up shop without being laden down like a donkey....
I speak French so I didn't even really notice that the instructions were all in French! I actually found it quite intuitive to use without reading the instructions at all....
Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the size and weight of it and that such a small bottle could easily do 25 washes (which for me would be nearly at least a month's worth of washing).
We have a very small kitchen and space is a premium so the smaller and more compact the better really!
Also like that I the bottle can be re-used with a large refill pack option (which I definitely would order on-line!) which appeals to the Womble within.
Personally as someone who is a bit lazy about putting lids on properly (and I've ruined several pairs of jeans picking up bleach bottles with non-secured lids) and therefore prone to spillages, I liked the pump-action.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Possibly make it a larger bottle that could do 40 (or so) washes. I think it would still be light enough to carry (if on foot) but then would use up nearly half of the large refill at a time (I hate having extra stuff hanging around for longer than necessary) which could only be a good thing.
I haven't done enough loads yet to have reached the 'dregs' of the bottle and therefore be experiencing problems pumping the last bits out.... This is a design fault with a pump-based system and not just specific to this Method product. There must be a simple solution to this? Otherwise it slightly goes against the eco-friendly mantra if one potentially could be wasting laundry liquid...?
Possibly to offer a laundry liquid/conditioner combined. I liked its cleaning power but we live in a very hard water area and my towels came out a bit like stiff boards!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the smell of it as I pumped it into the washing machine. I could not discern a smell on the laundered clothes but that might not necessarily be a bad thing.
I thought it cleaned well - it certainly got mud out of DS's rugby kit and his school uniform (he fell over on a muddy games field in his full uniform!) with one wash where I have been known in the past to have to wash muddy clothes twice to clean them properly.
We aren't generally a dirty clothes family though, so not entirely possible to give it an unchallenged thumbs up. Would like to see how it coped with biological stains such as blood which is always a real test for a laundry liquid.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Would certainly recommend to my eco-warrior friends and relations and particularly to those for whom money isn't an object. I will certainly seriously consider it on future shopping trips. If I can get my head around the initial expenditure of £14 or so for the large refill, I wouldn't have to consider the cost for such a goodly while that I'm sure I could justify the couple of pounds extra spend...
