  1. Love the packaging; so compact, far easier to store than most laundry liquids. Lots of washes in such a small bottle. Easy dispensing ? nowhere near as messy as pouring liquid into a cap then into dispenser drawer etc.
  2. No, not really.
  3. Didn't really have a fragrance except straight out of the machine (which was pleasant). Once dry, it didn't smell at all. I'm not fussed about laundry having a fragrance really so this didn't bother me. Cleaning power seemed very good. Am used to things coming out of the machine fairly grubby (!) so this seemed pretty good, especially on whites/light colours.
  4. Yes, I think I probably would. Method is a little expensive, but I have lots of wealthy friends!
Salmon8 · 10/12/2012 22:03

I have used the whole bottle now so just wanted to finish feedback by adding that I have thoroughly enjoyed using it. The washing has come out really clean. We have 8 children so that is a very important factor. Thank you very much for letting me test it.

london · 10/12/2012 22:34
  1. I liked the small bottle - didn't take up too much room and the pump, although I find I eneded up over compensating for the hard water and pumping it lots - it looks such a little amount!
  2. A bit pricy given the above (although can't really blame manufacturer for that!) Would certainly buy on offer.
  3. Subtle fragrance. Clothes smelled clean . Cleaning power seems better than I expected.
  4. In the unlikely event of discussingwashing powder, yes would recommend.
EvianBaby · 10/12/2012 22:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked it. I liked the fragrance, the compact size and the ease of use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Make the fragrance a bit stronger. Improve the effectiveness of the cleaning power.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
See above; I thought the fragrance could have been a bit stronger and some of my childrens clothes still had a few stains left after washing.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Probably. I liked the fact that it was ecologically friendly, compact and easy to use. I would like it to be a bit more effective at cleaning.

WeeKirkie · 10/12/2012 23:58

Was quite surprised how small the dispenser is considering how many washes it does. I would not change it as I think it is a great way to measure out how much liquid you need. Cleaning power was good but unlike others I could not smell any fragrance after a wash. I have never tried anything like method before so depending on price I would recommend in future.

pearlgirl · 11/12/2012 00:08

Q1 - love the compact pump- meant I could control how much I used each time and also meant no messy powder spills in the washhouse. Would also like a lock on it so I wouldn't be worried about my toddler getting hold of it.
Q2 - No
Q3- Really like the smell - not overpowering but clean. Clothes gave come out really well - coloureds and whites. Really pleased with it.
Q4 - yes i would recommend it.

MotherNurture12 · 11/12/2012 04:29

q1
When I received the product in the post I was impressed with its dinky size. I liked the packaging and the no mess, easy to use upmost. Most laundry powders etc are too large to store in our cleaning cupboard but this one fits in no problem.
Q2
If it was possible to make the fragrance slightly stronger with no further impact on the environment then I would do this.
Q3
I liked the fragrance although I would have liked it slightly stronger. It seemed very good at cleaning and most stains were removed except those that aren't normally removed by our normal washing powder. It was not able to completely get rid of the smell from our child's jeans when they had an accident but neither is our normal washing powder.
Q4
Overall I would recommend this product because of its reduced carbon footprint, its packaging and ease of use. The fragrance was also pleasant and it provided good results.

HipHopOpotomus · 11/12/2012 09:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the design, love the size, the pump feels solid and works well - good design. I've been wondering for years if we couldn't just take some of the water out of liquid clothes wash and make the bottles smaller - they have done it.
I've been wanting to try the Method Laundry Liquid for sometime now - it's looking very glamorous on the shelf. Every time it's on offer the shelf has been bare though. I love the good sized refill pack I have seen in Waitrose too.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is light & unobtrusive - not in your face at all. I don't buy laundry products with strong fragrance, so it ticks that box for me.
It seems to clean well - as well as the Ecover I usually use anyway. I live in a hard water area so I used it with some soda crystals (as per my usual habit) - 4 to 5 pumps.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it - it has good eco credentials, is lightly fragranced, looks as lovely as a laundry product can get, takes up little space in the kitchen (most people I known have washing machines in the kitchen), cleans well, is refillable and is price comparable with Ecover. What's not to like.

bunnypop · 11/12/2012 10:01

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like that it doesn't take up much room in my cleaning cupboard! I also thought very easy to dispense and a lot less messier than powder!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I think the only thing that would be nicer is a stronger smell.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I think the fragrance wasn't strong enough. I think the cleaning power was brill though and rivals most brands I have used in the past.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I already use method products and I like them. I also think even though its £6 it will last a good few washes so would def recommend

cassper · 11/12/2012 11:49

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I loved love loved the bottle, it was so easy to squirt directly into the drawer, much easier than the usual powder I usually have to measure out and spill everywhere.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price, it's much more expensive than the Waitrose Essential powder I usually use.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I initially used it without fabric softener but my clothes didn't smell 'clean' so started to use my softener again. It seemed to clean everything though both on a long and a short cycle.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would definitely mention the handy packaging but the price would stop me from recommending it fully.

TheOtherHelenMumsnet · 11/12/2012 11:54

Hi all - just to let you all know that if you've posted on here that your sample hasn't arrived yet (and you haven't then added your feedback subsequently), or you've emailed me to say it hasn't arrived, then I've put your name down to be sent a replacement. These should be with you soon.

If your sample hasn't arrived yet and you haven't posted on here or emailed me about it, please do so now!!

CelineMcBean · 11/12/2012 12:04

Can I have a replacement any way? I really like mine and I've nearly used it all up Grin

InkleWinkle · 11/12/2012 12:17

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? - I liked the packaging & smell
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? - I think I'd like it in a bigger size. 25 washes is approx 2 weeks of washing for us and I prefer to bulk buy. Even a dispenser twice the size would still be OK for lifting & pumping into the drawer.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? - fragrance was good, cleaning power OK but had to treat some stains with it individually & rewash which I wouldn't usually do.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I think I would say I liked it but not sure how much it would cost in comparison to other products so would be wary on that basis.

TheOtherHelenMumsnet · 11/12/2012 12:19

nice try CelineMcBean Xmas Wink

Fillybuster · 11/12/2012 12:46

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Very dinky - it didn't seem possible that it could hold enough to do 25 loads of laundry!

I liked everything about the look and feel of the bottle, but wasn't impressed by the liquid arriving in a cardboard box full of polystyrene packaging......

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I'm finding it difficult to pump the bottle as it is getting emptier, as I have to hold it the 'right way up' to get the pump to work. Noone else has mentioned it, so maybe I'm missing something...

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I like the fragrance - light, but definitely there. The cleaning power is very impressive - I didn't think 4-5 squirts could possibly be enough to get the dc's school clothes clean but everything is coming out of the machine looking fab!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes - I really like the fact that it is environmentally friendly and works really well...those 2 things don't always go together! It is expensive, so I would probably only buy it again if it was on promotion, even though the whole household were impressed.

georgieandjess · 11/12/2012 12:48

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I thought that it looked quite smart. I loved the pump which means little is wasted.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would maybe make the bottle a bit bigger also lower the price as it is too expensive.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I thought it smelled very nice and cleaned the washing great.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not?
If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it as it cleaned our clothes very well

KiwiNomad · 11/12/2012 13:27

I've used my Method sample about 3-4 times in the last week so as to get a good all round picture of its effectiveness. Here's my feedback:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I love the pump bottle, so quick and easy and I end up using less liquid than with the pour top bottles as I always go overboard with those.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I'd like it to have a bit more scent, albeit a natural one as I can't stand the really synthetic washing powder scents. If the pump could be easily locked it would be helpful in case of kids breaking into the washing cupboard.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? As stated above although the fragrance is pleasant enough, as with most eco washing products sometimes clothes can smell a bit 'earthy' when they are dry so it would be nice to have an aromatherapy based scent or something along the natural lines. I didn't use it on heavily soiled clothing but it did perform well on standard washes and wools.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend it although I'd warn them that it was more expensive than many of the other available eco brands. We always buy eco washing products but budget is a concern so I can't forsee us paying £12 for a bottle.

funnypeculiar · 11/12/2012 13:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Looks fine - very small which is great ito storage - but I think I would probably ignore it on the shelf (don't associate method with superconcentrated cleaning.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Maybe make the liquid thicker - it felt very runny. I'd also have liked to be able to close the pump when not using - I don't think I could do that without wasting a squirt...?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Didn't notice much of a smell (although I have got a cold). Impressed with cleaning power. DS helpfully had a nosebleed, and it cleaned out blood stains at 30/40 degrees which is pretty good.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Umm, not hugely, tbh. It's fine, but nothing special... not sure I'd go out of my way to recommend it. Sorry! I would (& do recommend the Method metal cleaner though if that helps!)

Hummymummy · 11/12/2012 13:29

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the compact pump. Unfortunately when mine arrived the pump didn't work but it did work straight away on the replacement sent. So overall I was pleased with the product but would be concerned if I brought one home from the supermarket that didn't work and I didn't know how much to put in. You can't measure it if the pump doesn't work.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Price?!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The fragrance wasn't strong so was ok. It cleaned ok although it wasn't the dirtiest washing I've ever done.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

If my friend was looking for an alternative product then I would recommend them giving it a try. If it was on offer in store then I'd definitely recommend it.

puffylovett · 11/12/2012 14:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Great dispensing method. I've used it in the past and had 2 pumps break however - very annoying when you have a bag of refill to use up.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Ensure the pump worked and lasted well. Lower the price a bit as it is on the pricey side.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love love love the fragrance - I find all normal cleaning powders really synthetic and fake smelling. I adore the smell of the method, it reminds me of flowers and smells more natural. It also doesn't give me headaches like a lot of synthetic smells do. Much nicer than Ecover which was my brand of choice for a long time. I think it washes better too.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, mostly because I like the eco credentials, the fact it doesn't trigger my childrens eczema and because you can get refills. I'd tell them how much I loved the smell and cleaning abilities.

puffylovett · 11/12/2012 14:29

Oh, the other thing I should add is that my 6 year old son now does his own washing because he can measure the washing liquid out so easily ! He loves it

TinTinsSexySister · 11/12/2012 16:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the packaging and the pump-action format which were the highlights for me. I particularly liked the ease of pumping in straight into the drum with no little balls to faff about with or dubious melting plastic in my washing.
I thought the fragrance a little under-whelming, which is to say I liked it but thought it was quite weak. This is one of the reasons I tend not to like eco-friendly laundry products in fact ? I know it?s less environmentally friendly to have lots of fragrance but I do like things to smell clean.
I thought it no worse and no better than most other eco-friendly or ?gentle? laundry products I?d tried for getting things clean and removing stains.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would make the smell more powerful. I also wonder if there are bigger sizes available and smaller ones too ? for trial and even to travel with.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
See above

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would if that person were specifically looking for an eco-friendly product as I think it stacks up against rivals in that sector but I don?t think it will convert someone who uses standard products, particularly as I imagine it is more expensive.

Mooandme · 11/12/2012 16:35

Q1. I liked the size of the bottle as it is compact, the package colour and the overall image. It looked like a quality premium product. The pump worked well though I am not at the end of the bottle yet so need to reserve judgement on whether it works perfectly.

Given my large family I'd be tempted by this product in the supermarket because my trolley is always overflowing, reduced size and packaging is a winner. A refill would be even better in squashy packaging. I also liked the fact that I could use this product straight into the machine, with no need to pour into a container first and no spillage.

The fragrance wasn't overpowering & is a selling point.

Q2. Refills. English instructions! Alternative fragrances.

Q3. Lovely fragrance, would like choice. Cleaning power seems to be very good. Newborn baby so nappies leak on clothes; all yellow stains came out except on one top without any extra treatment.

Q4. Yes. I'm a fan of method products and use surface cleaner regularly. But some people will be put off by the price so marketing will need to show them why this cleaner is worth it. Pump action, compact bottle and environmentally friendly are all arguments in the product's favour.

Tanyaaah · 11/12/2012 17:00

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Small, easy to use, effective.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No, perhaps have a larger size available too though.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Innofensive fragrance, fresh but not a noticeable perfume. Cleaned as well as any other washing powder as far as I could tell.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it, as long as it's not too expensive.

JustCallMeBaldrick · 11/12/2012 17:10
  1. I love the dinky little bottle! It's been as effective as my usual powder is, and has coped with everything the kids have thrown at me washing-wise.
  1. I'd like a larger bottle if possible, and maybe a hint more fragrance (lemon, lavender?)
  1. The fragrance as such is very understated, nice, but barely there. I'd like something slightly stronger.
  1. I would maybe recommend it, but with a caveat about the cost.
