  1. I like the compact bottle and pump.

  2. No not really but now I know the price I would like it to be a bit cheaper!

3)Fragrance gooD-not too perfumey; cleaning power good also things felt like they had rinsed well.

4)I would recommend it especially as it is more natural then some produCts but I would have to mention that it is a bit pricey too!
Thank you.

COCKadoodledooo · 07/12/2012 15:54

I'm still really miffed about the fact I haven't received mine. I've mentioned it on here a few times, I've mailed the lovely Helen and am feeling roundly ignored.

Received the initial email invitation, and all other emails since, but no sample. Maybe it was a mistake and I wasn't supposed to be invited? Bit cross that MNHQ have not seen fit to reply to my emails regarding it though, even if they don't actually want my involvement it would be nicer for them to tell me rather than just ignoring me.

starlingsintheslipstream · 07/12/2012 16:03

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked the bottle and the pump dispenser. The logo is attractive and fresh looking. The compact size is appealing.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

As others have said, maybe the price. I can't imagine using it week in week out at that price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance was pleasant - not too overpowering. It seemed to clean pretty well. I haven't used it as a pre-wash treatment yet but in the main wash it was fine.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it?
If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend, for the reasons given above.

Thanks for the chance to test it.

purplemonstermum · 07/12/2012 16:27

I like this product, it cleans well and smells nice. The fact that it is plant based appeals to me.. I love the convenience of just squirting it without having to search high and low for the caps that you have to fill with other washing liquids and which always get lost in our house.. I would change the price though as its quite expensive and I would also go for larger bottles and refill pouches. Also English instructions! But I assume that's just an oversight. I would probably recommend this to friends and family as my children's sensitive skin can cope with it, although the price would put me off.

Elegantlybasted · 07/12/2012 16:32

Have now done a few more loads, additional comments to ones previously made.
Don't like the pump action, seem to still get it dribbling out of the nozzle afterwards.
As far as washing performance goes, about the same as other products, I'm not brand loyal so look for what is on special offer, it's compared therefore against, Fairy, Persil and Waitrose own.
I still think price would be a sticking point with me.

SachaF · 07/12/2012 16:38

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
It is a lovely small, useful pump bottle that can sit on display on the windowsill. However, as mentioned before, it is very robust so I hope it is refillable.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
More information about the biodegradability of the contents, aquatic toxicity info etc.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Cleaning results so far have been excellent. I have done a muddy post cross country run wash and a child sick over her clothes wash so far in my 5 washes and have been impressed with the results. I have yet to do a whites wash.
The fragrance is barely noticeable (compared to my previous washing liquid). It just smells a little bit clean on some larger garments but others don't seem to smell of anything.
Unfortunately I no longer have any washable nappies to really test it out on!

Q4, I would recommend people try it out as it seems to be environmentally considerate and it does the job (better? than the brand they have just teamed with? Makes me wonder which actual washing liquid is better for the environment and whether Method's green credentials are more by minimalising product used). I would definately recommend it to anyone using the other brand who is struggling with the results.

EauRougelyNight · 07/12/2012 16:55

Q1- overall impression, very good. I love the fact that it's so compact. The stuff we currently use not only takes up loads of space but also is bad for the environment with the extra packaging, extra weight to ship etc.
DH (the main laundry-doer) says the packaging with the dispenser is really good, very handy and saves mess.

Q2- Yes, the price! We like it but it's too expensive for us to change to from our regular laundry soap.

Q3- I like the fragrance. I was worried it would be overpowering but it's nice. Cleaning power good too.

Q4- I would say that we were pleased with it, but not sure if I could recommend it due to the price.

gimmesunshine · 07/12/2012 17:51
  1. Overall impression was good, nicely designed bottle and I like that it's a pump dispenser.
  2. I'd like the lid to lock like they have on some soaps. And it would be nice if a little cheaper.
  3. Cleaning power seems the same as my usual one but it doesn't have a strong enough fragrance for me. I like to smell the flowers on the clothes.
  4. I don't think I'd mention it as, nice as it is, it doesn't stand out enough for me to bring it into conversation intentionally.
spogbod · 07/12/2012 17:55

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Neat packaging and packs a lot of washes in to a small bottle -taking up less space in the cupboard. Very easy to use pump, so minimum fuss and no measuring out.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It does seem to be expensive, but when you work it out per wash, I don't think it is compared to other big brands. I saw the refill for sale and that price is a bit of a shock, but again, a little goes a long way, so if you can bring yourself to buy it, it does save in the long term.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Nice fragrance, though subtle - would like it a bit stronger. I used a stain spray on collars and cuffs and any other marks and they all came out.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend. I like its eco-credentials, and my son is allergic to quite a few other brands (inc non-bio ones) but he has had no reaction to this. I also think value-wise it compares to other brands cost per wash-wise (cheaper than those branded gel sachets)

Lardbean · 07/12/2012 18:27

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked how small the packaging is and I liked the measured pump part. I often feel I have poured too much liquid in the drawer.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Nope

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I tend to like clothes to come out smelling nice rather than neutral but I was really impressed that it cleaned a top I had written off because it has and oily tomato stain. It came out completely clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I probably would.

maximum4 · 07/12/2012 19:19

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I eventually received mine last weekend as I had to go to the PO to collect on Saturday morning (I was not in for delivery) I have never used any Method cleaning products in the past but my DD has eczema and I thought it would be kind to her skin especially at this time of the year when it is at its worst. I liked the packaging and it was nice to have a more compact bottle and it is very easy to use. It was easy to understand the instructions despite them being in French! It wasn't too fragranced. I ended up adding a couple more squirts/pumps to each wash as I have an extra large load washing machine. The washing mostly came out fairly clean. I struggled with my sons trousers/PE kits that he had played football/rugby in, lots of mud ++++ and actually ended up on two occasions having to rewash two separate pairs of trousers :(
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Personally I would like a much larger bottle - we are a family of 4 adults and 4 children so a bigger bottle, and maybe a cheaper price would encourage me to repurchase!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I, actually don't like very perfumed products and so this was just right. Cleaning power was fine on my everyday stuff but NOT on footie and rugby kits.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would actually and I probably need to soak the boys dirty kits. It is so simple to use and really good for the environment and is kind to my DD's skin (certainly no reactions so far). Thank you very much for letting me test it.

BearFrills · 07/12/2012 19:23

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was a bit dubious at first because it just looks like nothing, a titchy little bottle of liquid with a fancy pump attached. Once I started using it though it seems really quite good and my overall impression has been a positive one.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A bigger bottle? I know you get 25 washes in there but usually I buy the huge boxes of soap powder with 50-75 washes in them (depending on the size of the box) so the option of buying a 50-75 wash bottle of Method would be nice.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the fragrance, it's still on the clothes after they've been washed too but it's subtle and not overpowering, I could smell my fabric softner more than the Method. It cleaned reasonably well, I have two toddlers (3yo and 1yo) so some of the stains I have in the laundry are shockingly bad and quite often layered or mashed in. It seemed to tackle them quite well and everything came out clean. I used the six pumps recommended but some faint stains survived so I started using eight pumps. Eight pumps brought everything out gleaming and even on a mixed wash (I'm rubbish at separating) the whites were white and not that manky grey colour they sometimes go.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yeah, I'd recommend it as worth a go but I'd say to use a couple of squirts extra to what it says on the bottle.

VivienScott · 07/12/2012 19:30

I loved it. Smells great cleans my clothes well, works well as a spot on cleaner and a friend of mine who has used it for ages says her washing machine is cleaner with no gungey build up than when she used to use more chemical liquids.

vicksean · 07/12/2012 19:40

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was very impressed. My clothes smelt lovely and actually felt cleaner, like there was no residue left on them.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It is quite expensive for the initial bottle with the pump but the refill cartoon is good value, so maybe reducing the price of the pump action bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really liked the fragrance, it was fresh without being overpowering. The clothes smelt really clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would, and already have. I have told a friend that it cleans really well even at 40degrees and that my clothes felt cleaner. I also said that it has a lovely fresh smell.

I am a total convert and have already purchased the refill as I think when buying the refill it works out much better value that normal washing powder. I have also been told that washing powder doesn't dissolve at 40 degrees so I think I'll be sticking to this in future!!

jumpingjojo · 07/12/2012 19:42

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Great bottle, it's easy and quick to use and my clothes appeared clean after using it.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Make it cheaper.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I like the fresh fragrance which is not overpowering and is hardly noticeable once the washing is dry. I am used to soap nuts which don't have any smell. Cleaning power seems fine.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would recommend it, pointing out it's green credentials.

nippysweetie82 · 07/12/2012 19:57

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I was impressed, I loved the compact design of the bottle and my clothes came out clean and smelling fresh.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? It's quite expensive so I think the price needs to come down a bit.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I love the fragrance, not as strong as my usual brand but still made my clothes smell clean and fresh.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend as I have allergies and this didn't irritate my skin. However most people would be put off buying this due to the price. I will use it again if I see it on a promotional offer.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 07/12/2012 19:58

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Overall I was really impressed with it. Easy to use, pleasant smell and seemed to do a good job. I think it is a bio washing liquid whereas I normally use non bio to protect our delicate skin :) So I don't know how it compares to other bio products for performance.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Can't really think of anything, other than it doesn't seem to be available in many places (yet?). I've seen it on Ocado though so can't be a completely brand new product?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Lovely smell. I imagine that after a while of using it, as will all of these things, you wouldn't notice the smell, but it made my washing smell nice and fresh.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think I probably would recommend it. It was so simple to use and seemed to do a good job.

On the pricing point, at first I thought that £6 for 25 washes was a bit steep but then that is probably comparable to what I'd normally use (Fairy or Persil non bio). However, I've seen a refill pouch on Ocado that was £14 for something like 85 washes! That seemed like really good value to me so I'd be particularly tempted by that.

Method isn't a brand Ive used before, or even particularly noticed but i would be tempted to look out their products having tried the laundry liquid.

Thank you for letting me try it and alerting me to the brand :)

butterflymum · 07/12/2012 20:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Great size container, pump pops up easily when turned and still quite compact, wary about how much would come shooting out when pressed so not enough with first pump but fine thereafter, no mess left on container
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Suggestions on package as to how many extra pumps for hard water areas
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance was thankfully not too strong and reasonably pleasant, cleaning power seemed good and very pleased at no white marks left on dark school trousers
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes for the compact container size, ease of use, low fragrance qualities, but no for the cost

ShiverMeWhiskers · 07/12/2012 21:00

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I like the small size container, as others have said previously, it will be great if its refillable... I like the pump, nice and easy, and that the liquid can be put in the drawer or the drum. I haven't yet had any stains needing direct application, but I imagine that the pump will make that easy too.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

No, so far, been pleased with how it has been washing.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I usually buy Ecover washing liquid, partly for the chemical free washing but also as it has very little fragrance. If I get a bad headache, I cannot cope with strong fragrances on my clothes or bedding. I do however, quite like the fragrance of this, its not overpowering. I have not yet put the bedding that has been washed in this back on the bed, so we will have to see if I find it easy to sleep in, but the clothes washed and worn have had quite a subtle smell.

It has so far, cleaned really well, although as I said in Q1, have not yet had any really tricky stains! But pleased that it has washed well at different temperatures and on a quick cycle so am happy with its performance!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, I think I would recommend it as so far, I do not have anything negative to say about it! Its great that its concentrated, that you can control the amounts you need - I never put in the full amount of liquid stated on the packaging in the washing machine and never use tablets because of that. No harsh chemicals and Method's good eco-credentials.

Landlsmum · 07/12/2012 21:04

Little update. We've now done all sorts of washing with the Laundry Liquid and it's even coped with our infrequently washed sheets very nicely! Fragrance is pleasant and cleaning power excellent. The one small gripe I do have is that the clothes seem to be a bit less soft than they are when we use our normal washing tablets (eCover), but this soon wears off when they're on.

RachelHRD · 07/12/2012 21:22

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the packaging and the pump design is easy to use once you get the correct angle to aim at the drawer! Glad to find out that there is a pouch refill available too to cut down on packaging

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Not really - I like the smell - it's fresh and non-chemical and the consistency is good for a concentrate. I would perhaps suggest a larger pack.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the smell and everything came out clean in comparison with my usual Ecover washing liquid. I also used Ecover fabric conditioner so it's a little difficult to isolate the Method fragrance but the washing smelled lovely and fresh.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it for its eco credentials and cleaning power. It is a little expensive so I would probably buy it and stock up when it's on offer but I will definitely use it again as I'm very much an eco product convert with 2 small children.

Thanks for letting me test it!!

puzzletree · 07/12/2012 21:35

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice and compact. Fairly easy to use, although I prefer to put it into the drawer so sometimes would be trying to angle it down and sort of estimating a 'squirt' as it didn't come out properly.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I don't know enough about its ingredients and cost but as a cleaning product I like it as it is.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I don't like a strong fragrance but this one is pleasant, not too floral. The cleaning power seems good, compares well to other products. Though as with them, I have started to use less than the recommended dose just for personal preference as I find the cleaning effective enough at a lower dose and don;t like the fragrance too strong.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend if someone asked me. I would say it's an effective product and smells nice.

TotallyEggFlipped · 07/12/2012 21:39

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I loved that it was so small and neat and simple to use. No need to find a ball for the liquid. No spilling it trying to pour it out. No accidental overdosing.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I haven't reached the end of the bottle yet, so I'm not sure how well the end will pump out.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the smell. It didn't linger, but my laundry smelt fresh. None of the synthetic floral smell of other liquids. It seemed to clean fine, but I haven't had anything particularly grubby in the wash.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. It seems neat and easy to use. I like that the bottle takes up so much less space and I can dose it easily.

junemami · 07/12/2012 21:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Liked the look and feel of the pump. The first time I used it the liquid overshot the drawer but I soon got used to it and liked the fact that there was no mess/drips etc. Also liked that I could do the washing with one hand (when dd is in the other) no faffing about with opening tablet packets or spilling liquid. All was going well until I noticed today that my dd's nappies have gone to smell rather badly and wonder if the change in detergent has led to a build up. Possible my own fault as I usually use half or less of the recommended amount when washing nappies but with the method I used 3 squirts (as two looked like so little). Have a weekend of strip washing ahead of me so I probably won't risk using it on my nappies again Xmas Sad

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It's not very clear whether it's actually a bio or non bio detergent? Although I use both so it wouldn't really make a difference but would like to know.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Couldn't really smell the fragrance until clothes were dried and aired. Personally prefer no fragrance at all but as far as washing powder fragrances go it's fairly inoffensive. I would buy the fragrance free one if at all.
Cleaning power - well nappies were clean, didn't really have anything to give it a good challenge. Did not seem any better or worse than my usual detergent, though I am waiting to try it on DH's work clothes.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

TBH it would have to be pretty exceptional to make me spontaneously recommend it, and it wasn't. Perhaps I would recommend it to someone who has problems with opening packets/screw tops for ease of use.

crickmel · 07/12/2012 22:26

We are in the first couple of weeks of potty training, so this was a perfect time for the test! I've just tried the laundry liquid once and it removed some fresh mud from some trousers no problem, however it didn't perform quite as well on an other item with some more dried on stains (potty training related!). I like the pump as it is very quick, easy and mess free. I do wonder if there will be a lot of waste at the bottom that the pump can't get, but time will tell on that point.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Great pump as mess free. Cleaned OK but not as well as usual liquid. Like the fact it is natural but a bit put off by the price to be honest.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Price
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I didn't notice a fragrance which is fine by me as I use softener. Cleaner power was aboiut average I would say with some items cleaning really well (fresh stains) bt older stains not being fully removed.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes if they wanted an eco/natural option, or a mess free pump.

Thanks for letting me test Method.
