Sorry, forgot about the 'cleaning power' bit in Q3. I didn't use it on anything particularly dirty, but it certainly got my washing clean and smelling fresh. So that's good too.

nancerama · 07/12/2012 10:02

I forgot to put in my response to Q2, a window in the side of the bottle would be nice so that I can easily see how much I have left and if I need to re-stock.

janeyjampot · 07/12/2012 10:04

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like it. I love the small size. It would be great for a self-catering holiday, or anywhere that was short of space.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It's about twice the price of the powder I currently use, and although I could afford to switch I probably wouldn't bother. A larger size at a better price - say, 50 washes for £10 - would be an incentive, though. I'd definitely expect to be able to buy refills at a reduced per wash price.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the fragrance. It's quite subtle once the washing is dry and that would be my usual preference. I don't like a really strong fragrance in a washing liquid/powder - I'd rather smell of soap or perfume than washing powder! Cleaning seems absolutely fine.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it on the basis of its small size and eco-friendliness. The price is probably more than most of my friends would pay.

Lkb1985 · 07/12/2012 10:19

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the compact size, space is an issue so the bottle size is perfect, especially for the number of washes
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It's quite expensive! Although I do find that lots of the other products say 'x amount of washes ' but doesn't always do that, maybe the pump action makes it more economical? Il have to see how many washes it does
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Love the fragrance, very fresh, used on baby whites, so stained with food/milk, and all marks came out in the wash
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend for the standard, but it is a pricy product, so not sure how many people would be swayed elsewhere by the price

Time2beme · 07/12/2012 10:23

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It was small and compact which was good, but would perhaps be cheaper if you put in a bigger pack ie 50 or 80 washes.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I found the smell quite overpowering at first, perhaps a new less powerful fragrance as made me feel quite ill, perhaps no such an issue in summer months as washing would be outside.

Perhaps a little pricey in economic climate to use when not on offer.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance was too strong for me - both my husband and daughter commented when they walked in the house - my preference is for delicate fragrance.

I found it didn't get stains out 1st time but was better when i pretreated with a small amount of liquid, which I wouldn't normally have to do and would mean the bottle wouldn't do 25 washes. With my normal washing liquid i only need half the amount suggested and only need to pre -treat oil stains.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would certainly mention I'd tried it and that Method have excellent bgreen credentials, whether they'd rush out to buy it with money being tight is another question.

Sleepyfergus · 07/12/2012 10:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice, solid little bottle. Neat a d stores easily. Would like an option to ok it though.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Add a lock as above. Also, the colour is a little off putting. It's looks a tinge dirty. Would be nicer if it was properly clear. But not a big issue.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Cleaning is as good as my current powder (Lidl Formil) and I quite like the smell. Quite noticeable when the wash comes out but not too pungent when clothes are dry.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I might mention it in passing.

It's been great to test this - thanks! I am not so keen on liquids, and prefer powders as I'm led to believe these are better for the machines. That said, the consistently of this would make me think it wouldn't be as gungy aas traditional liquid washes. However, regardless of all that, the price is very off putting. Unless it was on a very competitive promo, it won't be going into my shopping trolley. Sorry!

JAKK · 07/12/2012 10:41
  1. like the pump system, interested to see whether I can get the last bit out of the bottle with this. Like the lightness too.
  1. price seems a bit much compared to persil etc. I'd love to be eco but also want to keep down the cost of my shopping
  1. smell fine, dried clothes only have a little fragrence, which is as I like it. Only had time to do 2 washes as delayed getting product, and nothing was too dirty, but seems to wash fine.
  1. Would mention that I got a free bottle to test! Need to use more before I could recommend but wasn't sure how long the link lasted.

Thanks for the trial.

Q1 I liked the packaging, nice and neat
Q2 Lower the price
Q3 Liked the fragrance, didnt find it got rid of stain/marks but do have a messy DS2
Q4 Yes I would recommend it, can be hard to find good cleaning materials which are BUAV approved, ie neither product or ingredients tested on animals, so this is a real bonus

SalagadooLamagicaboo · 07/12/2012 10:45

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I was really impressed with its size, and couldn't really believe that it contains 25 washes. I think this size is perfect when you have a small kitchen.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I think an indicator to let you see how much product is left would be perfect.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I wasn't impressed with the fragance, it did remind me of bubbles mixture, and I have to say I was thinking I will have to re-wash the clothes with my usual detergent after the wash as I didn't like the smell. BUT when washed, the unpleasant smell disappeared and the clothes were really clean. So I am impressed with that!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend the Method Laundry liquid because the bottle is really good no mess and takes little space. but I would let them know that the smell of the product isn't great.

Thanks

llamallama · 07/12/2012 10:59

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I think its a great size, much neater on my shelf than a massive box of powder!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It is sold in our local Waitrose which is fab, so I can access it locally, that's a good point. I think a refil option would be lovely. I know that the ecover brand has a refil station in a local health store near us, you can just take your bottle in and refil it from the shop's large containers, thats a fab idea!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I didn't think that it really had a strong fragrance which suits me just fine! It seemed to cope just fine with my couple of wash loads, it was just normal laundry though, no crazy stains or anything, but thats normal for our household so thats good. I have yet to try it with pre-treating but will do the next time we get a stained item!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it as it cleans well and the product is non toxic which I love.

chrisrobin · 07/12/2012 11:15

I may have left my feedback (further up the thread) a bit too prematurely. After wearing the clothes washed in method DS1, who has sensitive skin and mild ezcema, has some rashes around the areas where his clothes touch his skin ie his neck, legs and waist. We had everything sorted with regards to products around him and the only variable has been the method washing liquid. Looks like it has been consigned to washing clothes that only DH and I wear.

antsypants · 07/12/2012 11:36

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought the pump was neat and tidy, very clean and handy to use, I always end up with those annoying cap things that come with most washing liquids hanging around.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would change the price, it really is almost double the more popular brands, although this would not necessarily prevent me from buying it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I liked the lack of fragrance, I find a lot of liquids overpowering, it smelt fresh and clean and almost as if it had been outside. It left my clothes soft and clean, I did a weeks worth of washing including bedclothes and school uniforms as well as it being a week of snow so my trousers were covered around the hems with mud.

It took the majority of stains off, it was not so great with school cardigans, there was still chalk and paint on them whereas my regular liquid gets rid of these, but it did wash out all the ingrained mud and the same for my daughters coat, all in all it was a great job.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend this, especially to friends who have new babies, and those who are ecologically minded, it is a great space saver, allows you to measure what is going into the machine and doesn't smell artificial.

scrivette · 07/12/2012 11:36

I liked the compact bottle and the idea of pumping in the amount you need to use.

It would be handy if it had a lock on the packaging. I wasted a couple of squirts trying to work out if it did lock.

I spilt some over me and didn't like the fragrance at first as it smelt quite chemically in such a concentrated dose. However the clothes came out smelling clean and didn't retain the smell. The cleaning power was no better or worse than my current powder.

I would mention that I was sent a pack to trail and that the packaging is very small so would recommend it where space is an issue. I would recommend it in that it does what it says, although the price puts me off of purchasing it. If however it was on special offer I would consider purchasing it to keep as a spare in the cupboard due to the size.

Thank you for allowing me to take part in the trial, I will now take a look at other products in your range.

mmhunt · 07/12/2012 11:38

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I really like the compact bottle, it takes up no room at all. I also like the pump system, easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Maybe the price, it is a little bit too expensive. I am also not too keen on the smell. Other laundry products out there smells much better.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

As mentioned above, I am not keen on the smell, there something not right with it. As for cleaning power, it is good when dealing with some stains. It got chocolate and other minor stains out but seem to struggle with heavily stained laundry.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I probably wouldn't recommend it to a friend/relative because of the cost; it is a little expensive. I don't really like the smell of it so I wouldn't be able to sell the product on its fragrance. As for the cleaning power, it is great cleaning dirty clothes but not so good with stained clothing. So its a no from me. I love the packaging though

Bubbyd · 07/12/2012 11:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? Love the pump bottle as there is no waste or faffing about. Small bottle hardly takes up any space.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Maybe bigger bottles or a different, fruity fragrance.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? Cleaning power was spot on and fragrance was fine but nothing special.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes but its fairly pricey so refills will definitely make me big it up!

millie19 · 07/12/2012 11:46

Thanks for letting me be part of the testing panel - spiced up my weekly washing chores no end! Smile

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was very surprised at how small it was (pleasantly I guess as I normally buy the great big 5L cartons that Ecover do for liquid and fabric conditioner on Ocado) but sceptically so as well! It felt weird only doing 4 pumps into the machine!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
As with others, I would like to know that there were recyclable refills available for it, and a lockable lid too. And I know it's concentrated and does 25 washes (have done 5 so far here and don't seem to have used much which is good!) but will they be doing extra large bottles so you don't have to keep buying (that's the reason I like Ecover 5L ones - I only have to buy them every 3-4 months!) Also, will Method be doing a fabric conditioner too? Or stain remover (I haven't tried to stain remove directly with this test product yet as waiting for tonight for end of the week school uniform wash - always a challenge for shirt collars and cuffs!)?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
A mild but pleasant fragrance which was nice and not overpowering. However as I used an Ecover fabric conditioner with my wash, that was all I could smell! Sorry Method Blush. Cleaning power for an averagely dirty family of four was very good although I haven't done the school uniform wash yet and the shirts are the thing I am look forward to testing it on! I will report back! Tea towels seemed to do particularly well and tights/leggings with muddy knees looked great.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Assuming their Eco credentials are up to scratch and they do refills/bigger bottles with refills then yes I probably would. If I can stop having to use a branded stain remover/pre wash first, and just use Method washing liquid to do the job then that means less bottles on my shelves which can only be a good thing!

lovelychops · 07/12/2012 12:38

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I thought it looked quite small so was interested to try it out and see how it worked. I quite liked the compact size compared to my other washing products.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price. We're on a tight budget and it would influence my decision.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Really liked the fragrance, thought it was nice without being too overwhelming. I was impressed with the cleaning power, I used it first on a 30 degree wash on my daughters clothes, and the results were great.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it based on results, ease of use and smell. But I do think the price would be the deciding factor for many.

cather · 07/12/2012 12:40

What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the look of the bottle and the pump was really easy to use. Normally liquid gets wasted in the plastic measuring cup but this style of bottle means that this doesn't happen.

Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I do a lot of washing so a bigger bottle would be useful.

What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the smell and it got all my son's dirty football kit clean so I was impressed.

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it as it is so easy to use and it got all my washing clean

ehuver · 07/12/2012 13:21

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was happy to see the compact size of the pump. It is even a great size to bring on holiday as it could easily fit in a small luggage compartment. Also, I was a bit concerned, prior to first using it, that the pump would shoot out too quickly or the stream would be too powerful, but it was gentle and easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would want the pump to come in a larger size. Perhaps this defeats the idea of compact and eco-friendly, but I feel that one twice the size would be the most worthwhile to purchase. With the amount of laundry I perform, this pump size will only last about a week or so. And then I'll have to purchase the refill (which is extremely costly)

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I thought the fragrance was mild and perfect for my toddler's clothes, while I would prefer it to be a bit more powerful for my and my husband's clothes. I tested the cleaning power on three different types of loads purposefully - soiled toddler clothes, fitness clothing (dri-fit, etc) and sheets/towels. All three loads proved to be unanimous in the very thorough and efficient cleaning power.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend Method laundry liquid. I think I am a new convert to this product. After moving from the States and only using Tide and 7th Generation, I have finally found an equivalent in Method. I do wish coupons/vouchers were available for this product, as the price is the only thing which I'm not too fond of at the moment.

DurhamDurham · 07/12/2012 13:44

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Very smart, very easy to use. Compact and takes up very little cupboard space. The pump works well and hasn't clogged up as the liquid appears to be thin enough to prevent this from happening

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I wouldn't change anything at all, I love the smell of the product. The washing comes out of the machine smelling lovely and fresh. It continues to smell fresh even after being tumble dried for over an hour! The clothes I have washed so far come out very clean. My teen girls often get makeup on heir dressing gowns and this has washed out well

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is lovely and fresh. It doesn't smell artificial at all, it isn't over powering but you can tell it's there. Even after tumble drying the laudry smelled fresh and clean

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it to family and friends, my mum has already noticed the fresh smell of my clothes. I was wearing a cardigan which I had washed the day before and she mentioned that it smelled 'lovely', this was good to hear but slightly worrying as now worried I must usually smell a tad unfresh!!

Misschicken · 07/12/2012 14:22
  1. An environmentally friendly packaged product. Efficient, smells fine. Like the idea of a pump.
  1. I suppose the fragrance could be improved slightly.
  1. Fragrance reminds me of product I use in Spain. Clean, fresh, quite basic. Quite a generic washing smell.
Cleaning power fine.
  1. Yes I would recommend it because it is a green product. Like the packaging and the fact that it is a pump and you can be efficient with how much you use.
keely79 · 07/12/2012 14:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Love the size - great for storing in the kitchen next to the washer/dryer. Nice and mess free too - none of the clumping of powder/sticky edge you sometimes get with capped products.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Probably price only - though I found could get away with a pump or two less than suggested.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fine for an eco product. Not quite as good as some of the stronger formulas but worth the swap.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

If they were looking for a compact, eco friendly solution - yes.

snowballinashoebox · 07/12/2012 14:29

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It is so small, really like the pump so much better than measuring out and then loosing the stupid measuring ball thingy in the washing. Most importantly to me it has not reacted badly with my eczema which has flared up with Ecover products in the past.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I have never tried a Method product beforeBlush I don't think it is stocked in my local Sainsburys. I may be a convert, the price is a bit high but I reckon it might be possible to cut down on the squirtage as I am in a soft water area and boy does this stuff foam.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? It has coped really well on oily boiler suits, dh thinks they are cleaner using Method. Disgustingly muddy cross country kit has come up really well. Clothes seem to come out feeling far softer than my usual non bio. I found the fragrance fine, not overpowering and clean smelling which is the objective really!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to afriend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? If it came up I would recommend it, a green liquid which can cope with boiler suits is probably worthy of a recommend.

lancasterkaren · 07/12/2012 14:30

Q1. I was I messed by the small size and how easy it was to dispense accurately

Q2. I would change the pice. It is rather expensive for 25 washes. I think it needs to be comparable to other brands

Q3. I found the fragrance quite weak when used without fabric softener. To be honest I prefer my detergent not to smell as the softener adds the fragrance
The cleaning power was on par with leading brands. I has a few dirty knee marks though that needed a second wash and treatment

Q4. Yes I would recommend as it cleaned well and was a compact design

underactivethyroidmum · 07/12/2012 14:50

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

A little bit fiddly to start with but a nice compact size which would be much easier to lug back from the supermarket than a huge box of powder

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The price is a little steep however I have found I haven't needed any other pretreatment which does offset the cost a little

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance is excellent. My DH has a sensitive nose and doesn't like his shirts to smell too perfumed, yet the liquid still has a nice fresh smell. The cleaning power is excellent. DD13 is a fell runner and I really struggle to get her kit clean without affecting the colour of her gym kit, traditional stain removers tend to fade the original colour over time and unless I pre soak her socks they just won't come clean. The laundry liquid removed the need for presoaking which is a god send when she needs a quick turnaround on her kit. I also have a messy toddler, DS2, and I have removed stains including chocolate, ribena, strawberry juice and jam with just a few squirts of the laundry liquid. DD even called me a star - high praise indeed from a 13 year old !

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend the product.
It smells nice, it looks good(the bottle) but most importantly it gets my washing clean without the need for pre soaking or the use of additional stain removers. Its convenient and fast acting which as a busy working mum is essential.
