Hello everyone, thanks to MNHQ for picking me to be a tester. After a visit to the Brighton Sea Life Centre, my 4-yr old son and I are learning about the effect of household chemicals on sea life; hence our search for a detergent that does the least possible harm to aquatic life....
I currently use Ariel bio liquitabs, which remove most of the stains from muslins stained with bolognaise sauce and babygros stained with explosions of yellow newborn poo. I wash in hard water.
Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
The small size makes it easy to store and handle. Since it weighs less than non-concentrated liquid, it also emits less CO2 during transport (but I must admit I have not worked the numbers out). Another poster mentioned having to keep the bottle upright to pump out the liquid; I found I could tilt the bottle and still pump.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Refills! Completely agree with those who have said there is no point in it eco-credentials if you have to throw the bottle away.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was almost non-existent compared to Ariel, which is fine by me. Pleasantly surprised, the Method showed exactly the same cleaning power as Ariel on dried bolognaise sauce and yellow newborn poo. I did not pre-treat in either case.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it because of its small size, ability to pump directly into the drum or the washing powder holder, and cleaning power. Given all the other things I spend unnecessarily on (eating out, coke zero, to name two out of an enormous list) and also that we haven't achieved zero food waste in our house, I don't think the price is an issue. I could cut down on these other things. My only question is: I would like to see a report on Method's environmental superiority (if it the case) to the other leading brands. Currently I'm just not clear on how much better it is than Ariel. Is it supposed to biodegrade faster? While degrading, how much damage does it cause? How does Method compare: Ariel liquitabs appear to bean environmental hazard if released directly into the sewage system (see here)
Cheers everyone.
