Oh - is THIS where the thread is?

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the appearance and size and shape of the bottle - much easier to store than the hulking great box of powder.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I like this liquid - i like it that you cansquirt direct in the drawer or the wash without using one of those silly balls. But it did dribble out of my drawer a bit but that might just b my old machine.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I loved the fragrance - not too strong, but pleasnt without the need for lots of fabric conditioner. It seemed to do a good job of cleaning and i sprayed some direct on a big splash of ketchup on my daughters sleeve (most of the sleeve) and it came out completely clean which i was pleased about as it had dried right in.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. It is different so i might not feel too nerdy mentioning it, and I am confident tht it is good enough to recommend

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Liked the bottle and the pump action to stop the liquid running down the side of the bottle. Also liked the label design.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price! Looked it up online and was a bit Shock
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Really liked the fragrance - it was just 'clean' iykwim. Not overpowering, just 'clean'! My husband commented on how well it worked on his work clothes which get filthy and also how soft it made the clothes.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think I would recommend but I would point out the price issue too. A refill option would be great and very Eco friendly!

rattie77 · 06/12/2012 22:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Thought the appearance was quite different in agood way, nice and compact, but first impression was how small it was and it wouldn't go far.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Not really thought it was effective and has lasted a long time despite my reservations.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance was mild but quite nice, not overally impressed with cleaning power - didn't get stains out of sons jumper had to rewash.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would be happy to recommend it - I loved the compact size and it was much easier to sue than my normal liquid - less mess etc. Not overally impressed by stain removal but on most washes was fine, thanks for the trial!.

lorka · 06/12/2012 22:30

After using the Method Laundry Liquid a few times:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked how small the packaging is - it takes up hardly any room in my cupboard. I also really liked the pump action which delivers just the correct amount as I have a tendency to use too much product in the washing machine. I also love the fact that it is plant based and is non-toxic!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I do find that Method products do seem to be a bit pricey but I do love the products. I do think the price might put some people off buying it.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance was ok and not too strong. I tend to use softener as well so this suited me fine. It seemed to clean really well even the school shirts!!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend Method Laundry Liquid. I would say that it has great cleaning power in a neat little bottle! I have loved testing it.

Thank you Method and Mumsnet:)

llynnnn · 06/12/2012 22:48

Thank you for letting me test this product Smile here's my two-pence worth...

  1. I really like this product. I love the small size bottle, it fits in the cupboard much easier than the big box of powder! It is so easy to use, and it is not messy (I often shower wash powder all over the floor)
  1. There isn't really anything I'd change, apart from the instructions in english! I would like a bigger, better value bottle that maybe did say 40 washes to save on shopping trips. I'd maybe like to see this product with added stain remover in to, having two messy dc, I do like my vanish liquid in the wash too!
  1. I didn't actually notice a strong fragrance, maybe just of wash powder! It certainly doesn't make the clean washing smell. It has cleaned every load of washing I've done to the same standard as my usual wash powder.
  1. I would recommend this product as it is so easy and clean to use and takes up such a small space in the cupboard, however this would depend on the price

Thanks again mumsnet and method Grin

treetrunkthighs · 06/12/2012 22:51

Impression

Love the neat little bottle. Nice shape, good pump, easy to get started.

Change

I don't think so. If it was bigger it would be hard to manipulate with one hand, which would be irritating.

Smell/clean

The smell is pleasant but not overpowering. Will wait and see how long it lasts. Sheets as clean as usual.

Recommend

I would if it came up in conversation Grin

Tobermory · 06/12/2012 22:56

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked it. I very much liked the small bottle, the pump was a convenient and mess free way of getting the liquid out. I wished, too late as I've already started using it, that Id counted the washes. Does it really do 25 loads?

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price! £6 for a bottle of washing liquid is too steep for me and there are other less expensive alternatives.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Liked the smell and cleaning so far. Have yet to try it on any super stubborn stains, my children have been particularly clean this week, but I'll be interested to see how it performs.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would say how well it cleans, is in a great little bottle and that the nifty pump is genius, though it is pretty expensive.

I loved trying this product, having never used any method products before, and on sale I could definately be converted.

However I hate the fact that the letter accompanying the product contained not a single capital letter. No capital letters in sentences!Xmas Shock I realise that is the chosen style of product, the chosen font which is 'cool', but really, a whole letter with no full stops? I dont normally get stroppy about these things but i found it very off-putting.

grumpyoldtrout · 06/12/2012 23:00

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I'm a big fan of the easy, non-messy, squirty bottle. It's so quick! And I don't have to touch capsules or powder that will set my eczema off, or spill powder en-route to the drawer. I'd love it in a much bigger bottle, though, as I'd get through this in a fortnight or less. I'm hoping that the end of the bottle is as 'clean' to use as the start, ie no dribbles or wastage, no banging it upside down to get the last of the liquid out (I'm tight, me...)

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? Much bigger bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? I didn't notice the fragrance at all. I use fabric softener on most loads, so that's good. In an ideal GrumpyOldTrout world it would have no fragrance at all, anyway. Cleaning: it was good, but not as good as Ariel or Aldi. It didn't shift stains that I hoped it would (tomato-based, mud, kids paint) and white socks were grubbier than they are with my normal powders (Ariel and Aldi). It did clean better than I expected, though.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I'd recommend the bottle and way that it's dispensed, but not based on its cleaning power.

michelleblane · 06/12/2012 23:14

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Very neat!. Takes up very little room. Sturdy. Spray pump works well.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No. Very easy to use, no mess or spills.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Loved the fresh, clean smell of the clothes after washing. I do not use a tumble dryer, but hang clothes in the utility and drape them over the Aga when not hanging outside. Everywhere smelled nice while they were drying. Everything seems very clean and it dealt well with Grandson's messy accident in clotes (just out of nappies, and didn't make it to the toilet!)

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would certainly recommend it. I would comment on compact size, robust container, eco friendly, good results and after fragrance. I had not heard of it before doing this test. I will certainly use it again.

TeaOneSugar · 06/12/2012 23:22

As a general rule I love all Method products but I do find them expensive.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Really compact, and easy to use, less chance of DH getting it all over the floor, as he does with powers.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I don't think so.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

It worked well on white school shirts with gravy stains, always the test here. The fragrance is subtle, I don't like strong smelling laundry products.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not

I can't imagine it coming up in conversation, however, should it happen I would probably recommend it, as its eco friendly, effective and convenient.

mrsskefton · 07/12/2012 00:09

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Its a perfect size for an overstretched family kitchen and also from an ecological perspective as not loads of unnecessary plastic. I liked that I didn't have to dispense it into a little plastic container and could do directly into the drum. However as yet I haven't reached the bottom and am unsure how easy it is to get the last few pumps out. I have used for 4 washes, 3 of them I used 5-6 pumps and on 1 I used 4 pumps but that was a small load and we have VERY hard water so not sure it would last as long as usual brand.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The option of a double sized bottle at a more cost effective price as for most families a 25 wash dispenser would not last that long and I like to consider all aspects when making my purchases.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

My husband unloaded the first load and commented about how nice it smelt, I do use a fabric conditioner too but you could still notice the perfume. We both agreed that it was pleasant. We purposely omitted the use of our standard in wash stain remover and were pleasantly surprised to see that the stains from our daughters school clothes had, for the most part, disappeared. Although as I generally use a non bio leading brand this did concern me slightly as to what it was doing and would it bleach my coloured items???

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it based on performance, size of pump, ease of use and perfume. However it is a more expensive laundry liquid and I have rarely seen it on offer in my local supermarket unlike my usual non-bio brand which I always buy in bulk when reduced by 1/3 to 1/2. For friends of mine who use other Method products I would definitely suggest the switch for their washing given the ease of use, size and perfume.

BitBewilderedChristmasTree · 07/12/2012 00:36

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked it.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I would like a bigger bottle. I do A LOT of washing!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I thought the fragrance was a bit lighter than my usual liquid, but I don't mind that, in fact, it's quite nice not to have too heavy a fragrance especially on the DCs clothes. The cleaning power seemed pretty good. It got most usual toddler stains out at 30 degrees.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it. Whether or not I would buy it would depend on how much it cost per wash, but I liked using it and I thought the pump dispenser was great. I also like the 'non-toxic'-ness of it.

ItLooksLikeRainDear · 07/12/2012 02:04

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the compact size and will be impressed if it lasts for 25 washes
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Seems expensive- £6
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Not an overpowering smell like some detergents can be, quite a pleasant fragrance
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it to someone who lived in a flat or small house where they were short on space &/or storage

startwig1982 · 07/12/2012 05:40

Having now dried my washing, I've found that my clothes seem to be softer. They don't seem to be very fragranced, but smell fresh.
Seems to have done a decent job!

brightonchick · 07/12/2012 06:45

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the way is is in a pump bottle, which means it is very compact and it is easy to use, no mess no spills.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I dont think i would change anything appart from in a bigger bottle.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance is nice, not too strong but with a lovely fresh smell.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it to my friends and family, because it is easy to use, fresh smelling, i would tell them that it is worth the money, may be a little expensive but when using it, it is worth the money and smells good too.

Crabbypink · 07/12/2012 06:48

Loooovely smell, and very clean. I have to admit, I was sceptical that four little splats of liquid in my washer's drawer could clean a whole load of grotty uniform and sports kit, but I stand humbled before the mighty Method.

Crabbypink · 07/12/2012 07:02

Sorry, didn't read that long paragraph above, with the instructions about what I was supposed to say. Why are there rules here? Anyway ...
Q1. Overall impression - mighty cleaning power for the amount I used.
Q2. Anything I'd change? Bigger bottle. We do a hefty amount of laundry here.
Q3. Fragrance - a lovely "not really there" sort of freshness. Just love that.
Q4. Recommend it? Of course. Not all my friends can afford this luxury, particularly with Christmas on the horizon, but I'd tell them to run out and get it anyway. In a need vs want contest, it comes under need now.

Wolfcub · 07/12/2012 07:07

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I love the pump, all washing liquid should be packaged like this. It's small, clean, simple. It's easy to use and I'd be happy for my son to use it (under supervision) whereas I wouldn't be happy for him to use a bottle of laundry liquid as he wouldn't be able to pour it properly and safely.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The price and I'd like it if the large packs and refills that are available in the US were available here. The refills might make the price a bit more bearable. It needs a childproof cap or ability to lock the nozzle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? It cleaned absolutely fine, I didn't notice any difference to my usual Persil but we don't have any really stains to tackle (no baby poo etc). The fragrance was fine, can't really notice it after washing which I personally think is a good thing. When I washed on 90 I noticed a nice clean soapy smell coming from the machine. But I think for a mass market the fragrance needs to be improved as it could be seen as bland.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes, on the following points: The pump is small, space saving, neat, clean and convenient. For anyone who struggles with their hands or who finds twisting off a cap and lifting and pouring laundry liquid it's great - I no longer have laundry liquid all over my kitchen worksurface! It's ecologically sound. It cleans well.

But - I would only say this to someone who I knew really needed the features that the product provides and was able to afford it. I currently pay 5-6 pounds for 54 washes. £6 for half that is too much.

WinkyWinkola · 07/12/2012 08:16

Crabby, four little splats! Grin but I would NEVER have bought this product on a whim because I wouldn't believe that it could clean. I kind of felt that liquids just weren't as effective as powder.

Converted!

ObiTheChristmasWan · 07/12/2012 08:21

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I really liked the small bottle. It looks so much neater in our tiny kitchen.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

A 'lock' function on the pump would be handy.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

The fragrance was not overpowering. It cleaned as well as the stuff we normally use.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

It is very expensive. I wouldn't put anyone off buying it, but I think £6 for 25 washes is excessive. Perhaps, if there is a refill pack, it will be more economical.

BLOO3Z · 07/12/2012 08:52

Q1= small size good does not take up much space...pump dispenser easy to use, however the pump dispenser must add quite a lot to the cost of product. I'm not sure if I want to pay extra for the pump, I can measure it out myself..

smarmyarmy · 07/12/2012 09:13

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I thought it was a fantastic design and very innovative. I was amazed to learn that you could get 25 washes out of such a small bottle. When storage space is at a minimum in our kitchen, this is ideal. So well done there! I love the pump design which was easy to use.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would definitely make the bottle a bit bigger so you could get about 40 washes out of it. 25 would only last me about 3 weeks with my kids going to football and getting their uniforms dirty all the time. Also the bottle seems quite pricey based on the amount of washes it does.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I was very impressed with the cleaning power. Couldn't believe that 4 squirts would get my whole load of washing clean but it did! Amazed! I loved the clean and fresh scent but this scent faded quite a bit after drying and ironing the clothes.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Oh most certainly! Especially those with a small kitchen and not much storage space. However, I wouldn't mention it to those mums on a budget.

Rooble · 07/12/2012 09:25

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like its small size, like the fact you simply do four squirts rather than pouring (and spilling)into a measure, like the smell - broadly impressed.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Can't think of anything. Except maybe have refillable bottles - the bottles feel like the most expensive bit of the product and I would be annoyed to be binning one every 25 washes.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the fragrance - it was different wet and dry, but I liked both and both felt "clean". Cleaning power was fine - what I would normally expect of a non-bio product. (Erased DH's armpit smell (eww), but didn't dissolve ground in rugby mud - but to be fair, nothing else does either, without plenty of elbow grease).
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would. I would say I'd tried it (love doing trials!!) and liked the size, smell, Eco credentials etc. perhaps most importantly, none of the family has reacted to the product (generally at least one of us will have skin problems when we change laundry products).

Thank you for letting us try it!

grumpydwarf · 07/12/2012 09:48

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I overall like the smell and the design of the laundry liquid. Unfortunately my son developed a reaction to it and so had to stop using it on his clothes but mine smelt lovely and cleaned well.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Be nice in a bigger bottle, and possibly a bit cheaper as the price.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I enjoyed the fragrance but found it didn't last long enough.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it but advise people to be careful if they have delicate skin like my like my son. I also thought it was slightly too expensive.

LittleBoxes · 07/12/2012 09:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked it! It felt like a more luxurious product than the Bold I usually buy, and I was pleasantly aware that it's more ecologically friendly too. I like the ease of use, but I felt strange squirting it straight into the machine, when I'm used to using a washing ball.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I hate to say it, but I it'd probably need to be cheaper if I was going to buy it regularly. I know it does loads of washes, but the fact that it costs over £5 for a small bottle is a bit of a psychological barrier for me.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Liked the fragrance a lot - fresh, but seemed less artificial than what I'm used to. And it didn't pretend to have spurious ingredients like 'Ruby and Jasmine'.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I can't honestly imagine having a conversation about washing liquid with anyone, but if I did I would recommend it. But I'd probably start the conversation with 'I know it's pricey, but...'
