I'm just coming back to say that I have been using it for over a week now and i know the weather is particularly nasty and damp but my machine is getting smelly. I still like the fragrance on the clothes and it doesn't seem to be affecting that, but yuk!

Ali1011 · 06/12/2012 18:56

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice and compact, liked the dispenser
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No, although it doesn't have much of a fragrance
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Seemed to get things clean didn't really notice the fragrance!
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I'd recommend it. I like the size, the pump action, it cleans well and is kinder to environment and skin

Lotstodo · 06/12/2012 19:02

Thank you for choosing me to try the Method Laundry Liquid.

Q1: The size and shape of the bottle is ideal but I would like to purchase a size for 50 washes. It is compact for storing and there was no mess at all.

Q2: A see through strip to see how much is remaining in the bottle would be very helpful.

Q3: The fragrance was lovely. The laundry liquid got my washing very clean. However, the fragrance doesn't smell like it belongs to such an effective product.

Q4: I would definitely recommend Method laundry liquid and will use another of Method's products very soon.

Bert2e · 06/12/2012 19:07

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was pleasantly surprised!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A bigger bottle with more washes in it, it also seems very expensive compared to my normal liquid.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance is fine - not too strong, cleaning power seems good - not had bolognese stains to test it on though which is my gold standard test!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Probably if someone was after an enviro. product - although I wonder exactly how green it is!

Wandaaa · 06/12/2012 19:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Sturdy bottle, ideal for refills, pump easy to use.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Perhaps price however it seems to be going a long way.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Couldn't smell fragrance once clothes washed but I find that with usual brand. DD fell in the mud the other day and everything came out clean.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it but would mention the price.

I've been looking for a new laundry product due to DD's sensitive skin and I have been impressed up to now. We have been recording how many washes we are doing and I think we will get the full 25washes if not more as we have been using 2 squirts for a smaller wash therefore may be worth the extra money especially if DD does not have itchy skin which she hasn't up to now.

Roshambo · 06/12/2012 19:17

Q1: small bottle with concentrated formula will be great for lower transportation costs and therefore better for environment. Liked pump action. Thought didn't seem like much liquid for one wash, however it seemed to wash well and could smell fragrance slightly afterwards.

Q2: fragrance is very subtle which might make some people think it hasn't cleaned clothes properly (clearly not the case, just perception), so possibly a slightly stronger fragrance or could do fragrance free version?

Q3: see comments on q2 about fragrance. Looks like pre treating has removed some bicycle grease stains from a tea towel that had been quite stubbornly stuck so good performance

Q4: would recommend if came up in conversation as is environmentally friendly and performs well, however I'm unlikely to buy it due to cost, unless I saw it on offer.

Bellebelle · 06/12/2012 19:17

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I like the bottle although design wise I don't think it's on a par with the cleaning products method make which have a very clean, distinctive design - this product doesn't look like it belongs to the same 'family'. The pump is great although I struggle against the temptation to use more than the recommended number of pumps as it looks so little in comparison to the amount of liquid I'd normally put in the machine.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It's too expensive although I have noticed deals on Sainsburys online before (2 for £5 I think?) which I would now consider going for.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Really like the fragrance although I'd like it to be strong enough to scent the clothes once dry. Cleaning power excellent, nothing it hasn't shifted.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it (and already have to a work colleague.)

TheFollyfootandtheivy · 06/12/2012 19:20

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Excellent, very compact and no mess

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Not really, other than the price

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I like the fragrance, it doesnt smell fake and its pretty understated. Cleaning power is fine, on a par with other products I use

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend it, mainly for its 'neatness' and efficacy. Its easy to store and doesnt leave any mess. The washing machine drawer is very clean since I started using it. It works. It doesnt irritate anyone's skin, and appears to have fewer chemicals in it.

Price-wise, it doesnt compare favourably unless you can buy it at a discount eg using an Ocado discount voucher, so much as I like it, I'm not sure I'd buy it at full price.

Thanks for the opportunity to take part in the trial.

pleasestoptalking · 06/12/2012 19:21

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked the packaging. It was neat and clean. I liked the pump as it was not messy at all unlike powders which I seem to drop everywhere and liquid in a ball. The fact that you could squirt this straight from the pump into the drum was a definite plus as it meant there was no mess and no gungy drawer. My only reservation would be that the bottle only holds 25 washes. At the moment I am getting through a carton of powder of 85 washes. I have 3 small children and 25 washes doesn't go very far.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The only two issues that I would have with the liquid which would perhaps prevent me buying it are the package size i.e. I would n't want to buy one every week so would like more washes per bottle and the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I actually really liked the fragrance. I thought it smelt clean without being overpowering.
I think it cleaned as well as my usual powder. I did use it neat on a bloodstain instead of a vanish spray but it wasn't very successful so I think if I was to continue using it I would also use a stain remover spray on tough stains first.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I think I would recommend that they try it. I thought it cleaned well and smelt nice. I also liked the fact that it was not messy at all.

lorisparkle · 06/12/2012 19:29

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Liked the small size bottle, have not got that much space! We do very big full loads with very messy children so not sure that 4 pumps would be enough and 25 washes is definately not enough!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Great if there was refill pouches or a larger bottle. Not sure about the price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Liked the fragrance - not too strong but 'clean' smell. Clothes seem clean enough but have not had an opportunity to really test it!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would say that I liked it but would depend on the cost how much I would recommend it. If reasonably priced I would definately recommend it.

serendipity1980 · 06/12/2012 19:30

Hi,
Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I think this is a great product - it is a small compact bottle, so easy to use and I like the fact that you can refill it - great for the environment.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I don't think so, although I'd love a stain remover!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance is great - I can't stand the normal overpowering fragrances that you get in a lot of products.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend method, I prefer eco friendly products, this ticks all those boxes and it works in such an easy way! I'm visually impaired and this makes washing easier. What a great product, one I'm happy paying a little more for.

Thanks for letting me test it!

  1. I really liked the small size compared to other 25 wash products. Made it much easier to store. I also liked how easy it was to use and that there was on risk of my skin coming into contact with the product, which I find a problem with other liquids and gels. The packaging looks great too.
  2. I can't think of anything I would change but if all fragrances are as nice as this one, I hope there are plenty more to choose from.
  3. I really like the fragrance. I tumble tried the first load and it had a nice fresh smell from the laundry detergent as if it had been hung outside on the line. It cleaned well, even though I haven't tried it on anything really tricky so far, but it's performed very well on the day to day washing.
  4. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. Although I wouldn't say rush out and buy it now at any price, but rather if you see it on a good price promotion you should try it. The plus points I would tell them would be the ease of use and storage, and the lovely smell.
AntoinetteCosway · 06/12/2012 19:35

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Clever packaging, nice smell, does the job. Shame the bottle's so small.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I only ever buy laundry products from Aldi or on special offer so it seems very expensive.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Lovely smell-very fresh as clean. Worked as well as everything else out there! I didn't try it neat on a stain (yet).

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes. I particularly like that you pump it straight into the drum-much less faff than other brands and bottle/tub types.

sppp · 06/12/2012 19:37

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Reasonable, did a good cleaning job but didn't have long enough to test it on dirty cricket whites

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Make it cheaper

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance?
Didn't really smell of much, a bit disappointed actually as all the other mets products smell lovely.

And the cleaning power?
Ok, would have liked a bit longer but I only got a chance to do 3 washes before I was chased to comment.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not?
Yes

If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Nice and compact, but pricey

JiltedJohnsJulie · 06/12/2012 19:47

DH asked tonight what new washing powder I was using and said he loved the smell. High praise from my DH who's mind is usually taken up with much more important things like getting a new mountain bike

QueenOfFarkingEverything · 06/12/2012 19:48

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

Liked it. Easy to use and dispense, small bottle for the amount of washes. Worked great on everything we threw at it including toddler nappies, DD's riding clothes, and the dog bedding Grin I also only found I needed 3 squirts in all but the filthiest washes.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

After reading comments here about the price I checked it in Waitrose and thought it was in line with the other 'eco' brands we've used. In fact I have actually bought an 85 wash refill bag, as it was on offer so worked out very reasonable. I am slightly uneasy about the fact it says its made in the US which means a lot of air miles to get here though.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Fragrance was fine by me though I do generally prefer slightly more 'natural' scents, lavender or citrussy. But this wasn't overpowering so wasn't unpleasant. Cleaning power was better by far than Ecover or the supermarket own brand 'eco' stuff that we usually use.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes, I think I would - the only thing that does bother me is the distance it travels to get here, but then I don't know how far any other brands travel so that might be irrelevant anyway.

saladfingers · 06/12/2012 19:48

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Liked compact size and effeciency of measured pump

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
price,cheaper would obviously be better!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance fine.Cleaning power seemed ok.Not had any serious stains to test it out this week so far,but will watch with interest when i do

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Verdict still not in on this yet, need to really find out how good it is on tricky stains

likelucklove · 06/12/2012 19:52

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked the appearance of the product, since it is something I had not seen previously. It was unlikely to spill and can be closed so my DD cannot get to it. The label was colourful and interesting (if I understood French Grin).

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would like a stronger fragrance, which others have stated. I like laundry to 'smell clean' iyswim. I'd also see if the pump could be used slightly tilted, since it was a bit frustrating.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I was not impressed with the fragrance, as stated above. The cleaning power was great on my DD's food-covered clothes, which I have not found previously.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I think I would since the cleaning power was remarkable, but it is expensive which I would not normally be able to afford. If they needed a tougher product, I would but a scent would be nice.

blossomingbump · 06/12/2012 19:52

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? like it, simple to use, easy to store and didnt end up all over my hands like the other liquids I've used have.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I would like to see a refil pouch so that I feel I am really helping the environment by reusing the bottle with a pouch that could fill the the pump. ie a way to really reduce the packaging for somone who uses regularily. because otherwise it is a lot of plastic I am throwing away every week or to.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the fragrance, as it was very mild and please dont change that as is a big plus for me as I have so many allergies and usually find fragranced things bring me out in a rash. I was very impressed by the cleaning, much better than I expected, i usually use a prewash for my daughters clothes, but tried without and even got out tomato sauce!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I think so, especially those who are environmentally aware or have allergies.

greengirlie · 06/12/2012 19:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was surprised by how small the actual bottle was! 25 washes in that dinky bottle... really? Very excited to test it out as DH and DS really like to test the powers that be of the washing machine, from crudded weetabix to general ming. I sometimes have to wash things twice as well as add in extra cleaning power agents! (liquids not little people in macs and hats!)
The design aesthetic is great and I liked the packaging (box) it came in.
SO FAR SO GOOD!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The cost. Whilst I appreciate the size and amount used - more eco - I do think it is quite expensive and with the amount of washing I go through I do wonder how cost effective it would be...
The design is great, the pump action is very easy to use and more effective than measuring liquid out... how many times do you lose the cup or just chuck a dollop in? the pump is accurate and less fiddly.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The cleaning power was very impressive. the whites came out glowing - literally! There were a few marks (existing) that didn't come out, but i wasn't expecting perfection. I was really genuinely surprised and very pleased with the results.
If I am honest I did not notice the smell as I do use conditioner with my wash to ensure softness.
The smell from the actual bottle itself was pleasant.
My DS does have sensitive skin and he has not shown any signs of allergy which is another tick on this product.
this might be a love at first use product!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Most definitely, I was impressed with how little you use and the max cleaning power it achieved on a full load, some with proper caked on crud (thank you DS) my whites were amazing, shame it didn't remove existing marks (but that is my bad and i think had i pretreated them there would be a very noticeable difference.)
As far as I am concerned there hasnt been a better product that I have come across in terms of amount used to the effectiveness of the cleaning.

I am PRO Method... I would be extremely keen to try their other products.

happygilmore · 06/12/2012 19:55

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
That it really doesn't look like detergent! It has quite a trendy design, I liked it. My DH had no idea what it was!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

The price I guess (if I was paying for it). It's more than we would normally spend.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

Nice fragrance, not too overpowering but clothes smelt fresh. Cleaning seemed good but I've not washed any really stained clothes yet.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I think so, but price might be an issue!

ilikeyoursleeves · 06/12/2012 19:59

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Great size of packaging, doesn't take up a lot of room. You'd think it would be easy to squirt but first off I squirted it to get the first liquid out thinking it would take several pumps for this to happen, but it came out right away so I squirted the floor instead! Then I squirted it in the drum at the wrong angle and missed the drawer oops! Third time lucky though and it was easy then although the bottle has to be upright to squirt properly. Amazed that it cleans with so little liquid!
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I don't really like the smell, I like washing powder to smell really lovely and fresh and for it to last on clothes but I found that Method on its own was a bit lacking in any pleasant fragrance. I ended up adding fabric softener for this reason. It also wasn't great in cleaning luminous yellow breastfed baby poo or paint stains from my sons school uniform. I've yet to find a washing product that completely removes these though!
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
See above.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I'd recommend for the compactness and ease of use but not for fragrance or cleaning power. Sounds quite expensive too, I think I'd only buy it if it was on special offer.

ctoyno · 06/12/2012 20:04

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
was a very small bottle (not like our usual ecover bulk buy).
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I found it just fine as it was - would like cheaper and available in large quantity
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
quite a mild fragrance, clothes smelled fresh and they were lovely and clean
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I can't imagine recommending it, but if they asked I'd say it gets things nice and clean but is a bit expensive.

beanandspud · 06/12/2012 20:10

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought it was compact and I like the packaging. Although it suggests that it will do 25 washes I needed 6 pumps per wash so on that basis it would be closer to 16 washes which doesn't feel like such good value.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

It seems expensive and I'd like the smell to be stronger.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I was pleasantly surprised by how well it cleaned although I was adding an extra pump to most loads as we live in a hard water area. The fragrance was pleasant but would have preferred a stronger fragrance.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would certainly recommend that friends try it and I would buy it if it was on offer.

fuzzywuzzy · 06/12/2012 20:20

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really liked it, it was simple and easy to use no faffing about with measuring jugs, smelled good, way less bulky than the powder boxes so very easy to store, I espeically like that it's light, I can imagine picking up a bottle on the way home from work when I run out.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
It had no directions on it in English, I was so bloody confused when the postie delivered it (at stooopid o'clock on a sunday morning -which may have added to my overall confusion), in the end I found the website and followed the video directions (pity me and my GCSE French)
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the smell, it smelt clean and wasn't overpowering, it did clean well, my youngest child has a habit of checking the soles of her socks, and if they're not completely white again refuses to wear them, on that basis alone this detergent passes.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would, mainly because it's so compact and easy to carry and store and I actually like just spritzing four times and that's it. I'd recommend it to friends just for novelty value.
