Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? I quite like it, it's a different way of using washing liquid, and takes up less space than my usual box of powder.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? It's quite pricey, although in line with other Method products.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? Less fragrance than I expected (which I like) And the cleaning power? it's not that amazing to be honest, works just as well as the branded powder I use, but better than liquids I've used
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I don't generally sped much time talking about washing powder/liquid with people, but if it did, I'd talk about this - particularly the squirty mechanism.

meggiemog · 06/12/2012 14:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was surprised by the size of the pump. It was easier to use than I expected it to be.It fitted nicely into my cupboard.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
More choice of fragrances and a cheaper price.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The fragrance smelt clean and fresh. Everything that I have washed so far has come out looking clean.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend method. I was sceptical about whether or not it would work, but it is easier to use and works better than I expected it to.

Cachaca · 06/12/2012 14:54

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Good and compact packaging, love the pump design for dispensing. Liked the way you can use right down to the last drop by tilting the "straw" of the dispenser. Overall, very good, but I do prefer my usual.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Cleaned clothes were not as soft as usual. I don't use fabric conditioner so this is important.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I wasn't keen on the fragrance of the product before use, but the cleaned clothes themselves smelled OK, and it smelled very pleasant when clothes were being ironed.
Cleaning power was as good as my usual brand of non-bio liquid. It didn't remove tough dried stains without a stain remover, but that is no worse than usual.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I might, if they wanted to try something new that was hypoallergenic. The reason I wouldn't is the price - it is rather expensive.

BlatherskitedaboutChristmas · 06/12/2012 14:56

I hope my Christmas name change doesn't confuse things. I'm plain old Blatherskite usually and have used that as my "usual MN nickname" when I filled in the survey. Was that right?

funnypeculiar · 06/12/2012 14:58

Marking my place as just back from US and my first load is currently on :-)

ScienceRocks · 06/12/2012 15:00

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I liked it. Neat, worked well, eco-friendly, no chance of spilling (though a clicky bit that goes round the collar might be useful so kids can't squirt it all away). It won't do 25 washes for me though, as I live in an area of ridiculously hard water.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Maybe a bigger bottle. But I suppose the price would be offputting. Maybe a refill pack?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I liked the fragrance, and it seemed to clean well (three loads, one light load that was very grubby at 60C and two mixed colours normal dirtiness at 40C).

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I don't know that I talk about laundry liquid much, and while the smell is nice it isn't so amazing that someone would comment on it and I'd strike up a conversation on the back of that! I'd buy it for holidays, I reckon - nice and compact, does the job - and if it was on offer.

Thanks for letting me test it!

dottygamekeeper · 06/12/2012 15:01

Thank you for letting me try this product - was a bit surprised that I had to sign for the parcel, it meant I had to make a trip to the post office in the next village several miles away to collect the box. As other posters have mentioned, I did not like the letter with no capital letters (pedant, moi?). To answer the questions:

  1. I like the design of the bottle, especially the pump - no need for extra plastic in the form of dispensers etc, but have yet to find out whether the pump works when the bottle is nearly empty. I am not convinced the bottle will do 25 washes - I have done 5 so far, 4 pumps in each, and the bottle looks as if I have used more than 20%
  2. Anything I would change - possibly a bigger bottle, definitely the ability to buy a refilll pouch, as I hate throwing away plastic bottles after only one use. Probably the price - I don't tend to buy cleaning products at full price, only when they are on BOGOF or other discounted terms.
  3. Fragrance - I liked the fact that it doesn't have a very strong smell - I find most cleaning products are far too highly scented. Cleaning power seems good, although there was a mark left on my daughters shirt (probably foundation), which I hadn't noticed to pre-treat
  4. I would recommend Method cleaning products in general to friends, if asked, though would be wary about price.
bumpertobumper · 06/12/2012 15:01

I like the package and the pump mechanism, very easy to use (so far, not sure how it will be to get those precious last few drops out...). It cleans well, haven't tested it with any major stains but pleased so far with the performance, including on the yellow school tops.
I seem to be getting through the bottle quite quickly, the '25 wash' claim must be for a small (ie 2 pump) wash rather than the 4 pump full large load I (and most people) always do so am curious to see how long the bottle lasts. This will be a main factor to work out whether it will be cost efficient - i have a feeling perhaps not...
I like the smell, it is fresh, delicate and doesn't linger. I hate strong smelling detergent.
I would recommend it to someone, if price wasn't much of an issue for them.
Thanks for the trial bottle, I do like it and will buy if/when it is on special Smile

BoBoo · 06/12/2012 15:01

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
The packaging is pleasant and I liked the colours. It was easy to use and there was no mess.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Possibly the price. It's a lot to shell out in one go, so I would expect it to last a bit longer. In our house, 25 washes is only a few weeks.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance was nice and not too overpowering. No complaints about the cleaning power.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Maybe. I'd mention it as an alternative to Ecover.

Godlessdomestic · 06/12/2012 15:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? It is well packaged and much smaller than other liquids I've seen so takes up a lot less room. The pump does take a bit of getting used to and I have squirted the floor once or twice.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? I would prefer the instructions in English Grin but apart from that only the price is a bit off putting.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance is unobtrusive which I like, I get cross with mixed scents from washing powder/liquid & softener. It cleans as well as our current brand.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would certainly mention that I've used it and how good I've found it to be.

Thank you for choosing me to test it, it is nice to try new things without worrying about making an expensive mistake

noobmum · 06/12/2012 15:03

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Great packaging - easy to use. Does not take up much space in the cupboard.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price. A bit too expensive I think.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Washed a load without fabric softener and I think it smells OK (at least it doesn't smell artificial!) but when used with fabric conditioner I could only smell the fabric conditioner. Cleaning power wise I think it's on par with other big brands. Managed to get nasty baby poo stain out.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it. I like the dispenser a lot, it is very convenient and easy to use with no messy drips or whatsoever. Very compact and stores easily. The ingredients are kind to the skin too so no worries about harsh chemicals etc.

sahmummylincs · 06/12/2012 15:03

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I have to admit I was slightly uninspired by the look of the bottle- looks quite clinical. The size of the bottle however is fantastic and doesn't take up much room in the cupboard. However I was slightly concerned about the pump action- I know a lot of laundry detergents don't have a child safe feature but this one seemed particularly too easy for a child to get the liquid out. Also it didn't seem to have a lock/unlock feature which would mean if you wanted to transport the bottle to the laundrette or on holiday it wouldn't be practical.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The lock feature of the pump action bottle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I have to admit I was slightly dubious that my laundry would be clean after using so little liquid in the washing but it came out smelling and seeming fresh. I haven't yet tested it on anything particularly soiled but has worked well on every day washing. I actually like the smell-fresh without being overpowering.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I think I probably would reccomend it, purely on the basis that it has performed equally as well as other well known brands. I can imagine that if sold at the right price it could be very economical as you only use the amount of 'pumps' required for the size of the wash. My son and my husband also have sensitive skin and this washing powder seems to be fine for them. Finally, it is great that this is an environmentally friendly product- nice to see it can compete with others on the market at the same level.

NannaBess · 06/12/2012 15:06

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Cleaned well but expensive.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price - it could do with coming in refill packaging so as to drop the price in the long run.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fantastic cleaning power but fragrance was a bit ...odd!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, was great for my daughter's sensitive skin so I would recommend this to mum's with children with sensitive skin.

The verdict from the Piste jury Smile

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the compact size. Even though we have this sort of thing delivered with online shopping, storage space can be an issue with laundry products. Small is good. Pump easy to use, after I shot the first lot on the floor! Love the dispenser, so clean and efficient. I know you can get refills, that is good.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Um, I don't think so, apart from price to make it competitive. We do buy Method foaming hand wash, and do like the brand anyway.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Cleaning power seemed good, did well with grimy collars on school white shirts, rowing kit was fresh as a daisy again, did well all round. Thought the fragrance was fine, not overbearing as often they can be.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would if it came up, not sure that it would, we don't tend to share laundry tips Xmas Grin

mils · 06/12/2012 15:10

What is your overall impression of method laundry liquid 25 pump?
Great, small and clean and easy to use and store, nice and satisfying to squirt liquid instead of messing around pouring liquid or unwrapping tabs. Because you use such a small amount, it's tempting to give an extra squirt for luck!

Is ere anything you'd change about method laundry liquid?
The price, I think it works out more expensive than my usual one tab per wash

What did you think of the fragrence? And the cleaning power?
The fragrence was subtle and I liked it, not too strong or artificial smelling like some washing products. Seems to clean well, have tested on every day kids filth and extra muddy dog walking gear, and coped with all well.

Would you recommmend it? What would you say?
Yes, It's small and neat and easy to use and does a good job. But, not sure how widely available and a bit pricey.

DevaDiva · 06/12/2012 15:10

I really like this product. It's a great design, smells lovely and does a good job at cleaning. The only downside is the price for the number of washes, i'm looking forward to seeing it on promo somewhere soon Xmas Grin

PostBellumBugsy · 06/12/2012 15:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Good, I liked it.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Price
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I liked the fragrance. Not too overpowering, but pleasantly fresh. The cleaning power seems fine, but my DCs are older, so we don't have such mucky stuff these days.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I rarely talk about cleaning products, but if I were to, I'd say it was a good product. However, I'd also say that I was unlikely to buy it because supermarket own brands are also good products but half the price!

Aminty1 · 06/12/2012 15:16

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I liked that it was easy to use. I have arthritis and my fingers cramp using my other detergent, when I have to squeeze the bottles, but the method pump was easy enough to use with just my index finger.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Larger washload bottles. 25 washes doesn't go far when I have 4 children.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I actually quite liked the fragrance. If I have to wash coats and dry them on the radiators over night, I love the smell that drifts through the house from it. Once clothes were dry, they smelt clean and fresh too, something that doesn't usually happen when I dry clothes on an airer. I didn't notice any difference in the cleaning power though, compared to my usual detergent, however I did notice that certain items came out smelling clean and fresh without needing several washes.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I'd certainly let them know I'd tried it, it didn't irritate our skin and it left clothes smelling nice, however the bottle doesn't go very far if you have a lot of washing.

HarlettHoHoHoScara · 06/12/2012 15:18

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the design and size of the packaging. The pump works really well and makes 'dosing' clean and easy.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Fragrance - I was expecting something more fragrant and identifiable like the other Method cleaning products I have tried. Having very densitive skin means I'm limited to the products I can use and none of them have nice, disctintive fragrances so I was hoping for that from Method.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
While the fragrance was not unpleasant, as stated above, I was hoping for something more distinctive. However, clothes came out smelling fresh which is the main thing. It tackled most stains well (particularly dried on baby poo) but struggled a little with the floor pads from the steam mop (in it's defence, with 2 dogs and exceptionally wet weather, I'm not sure other products would have fared any better)

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend it, particulary for it's unique design and packaging which make it particularly good where storage space is at a premium.

rodformyownback · 06/12/2012 15:18

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

  • I was impressed with the cleanliness, the smell and especially the size of the packaging.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
  • I thought the product was great. However I don't think it was worth the proposed price.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? As above both impressive. The only problem I had was that after a quick wash at 40 degrees I could still smell urine on my ds's trousers that he had wet (I wouldn't normally put them on a quick wash but thought I would try it out with the method product) Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would recommend it but only to friends who i know would pay a premium for a "green" product. It's just not worth it otherwise.
Chopstheduck · 06/12/2012 15:28

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I did like it, it was convenient to use, it didn't have an overpowering smell and it worked! I found the pump overshot a bit the first few times and did take a little gettting used to, but certainly easier than measuring out powder.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I was impressed! Initially it didn't seem to have any smell at all, and I was very dubious about using it. But when the first load was done, it smelled fresh and it was clean.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I personally would maybe buy it for holidays, for the convenience, and because it did really work. I will probably keep it for when my usual powder doesn't do the trick, on really dirty loads. I wouldn't recommend it wholeheartedly though because it is just too expensive to use every day for a large family.

I usually buy wholesale powder and get 244 washes for £16. If Method appeared in Costco, I would maybe consider it!

thekatsatonthematt · 06/12/2012 15:29

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I love it. The packaging is brilliant, the pump easy to use, and I am impressed with the cleaning power and fragrance.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I haven't yet checked the price...suspect this may put me off buying it regularly.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Nice clean smell, am using own brand non-bio at the moment and it definitely matched the cleaning power.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Already have! I've been telling everyone about the fab pump and ease of use.

workhomelifebalanceisrubbish · 06/12/2012 15:29

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
loved the compact bottle, really easy to use, brilliant clean dispensing system-straight in to drum or drawer. no fiddly lids to de-tangle/lose from the washing.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
the price being £6 would put me off buying as a regular laundry product, however I do think its comparable to the other leading brands, but I usually buy preferred brands when on special offer so the price is less.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
the fragrance- cant really say i could smell it, usually would open lid of a product to smell it. Not noticeable on the washed clothes as I used fab softener so they smell of that!
Cleaning power- this was impressive. Footie kits came up good as did white school shirts. used 4 pumps for everything.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend it, as its so simple to use, great for the environment-a big plus, effective cleaning.

FannyFifer · 06/12/2012 15:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Liked that it was small, not much packaging, could do with bring able to twist to turn off though.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Think it would be too expensive for me to buy regularly. Not very easy to spot on a supermarket shelf.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance & cleaning powder both seem fine, have used in several washes with good results.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Might recommend, my family all have excema and sensitive skin and there have been no problems so far so would possibly recommend on that basis.
